Sure enough, the next morning Bella was there waiting for us in the parking lot of the hotel. She sat in her driver seat with a newspaper in one hand and a mug of coffee in the other. She looked up and smiled at us, waving us over.

"Good morning! I didn't have your cell number or even room number. I thought I would get here early and wait." She said to us. Ginny and Harry slid into the truck and I was about to jump into the back. "George! What are you doing?" She said as she hopped out of her truck.

"It's far too cold for you to be sitting back there." She said as she basically shoved me into the truck.

Ginny moved over and sat on Harry's lap, giving me the spot in the middle next to Bella. Ginny mouthed the words 'Sit. Down.' To me and I quickly sat down and buckled the seat belt.

"See, that's much better. I can't have one of my new friends freezing on our way to school." Bella grinned at me.

I smiled my thanks, but couldn't form any words. My mind was lost to the fact that my entire left side was right up against Bella. The crazy part was that she didn't seem to mind. And I didn't either.

Apart from begrudgingly hugging mum and Ginny, this was the closest I have been to anyone since the war.

Part of the reason being Fred, I just couldn't allow myself to feel close, physically or even emotional to anyone. Also, my ear. It looks bloody awful and I can't believe Bella is letting herself be so close to the ghastly thing.

Bella was smiling warmly at my sister and Harry.

"Are you two dating?" Bella asked them. They both grinned at each other.

"Yeah, we've been dating for... a while." Harry replied. Bella smiled at them.

"I can tell already, you guys are absolutely perfect for each other." So, she's definitely a hopeless romantic.

Bella caught me staring at her and her eyes met up with mine and she smiled warmly at me again.

"Ready for another day at Forks High School?" She asked me.

"I guess so." I replied. Harry was giving me the 'Really? That's all you have to say?' look. Thankfully Bella did not notice our exchange.

"I'm looking forward to playing volleyball!" Ginny said.

"Ugh! I hate volleyball!" Bella cried. "I should be banned from PE! I'm so uncoordinated! I hit my own teammate in the back of his head yesterday!" Ginny and Harry started laughing. "Poor Mike. He never saw it coming." More laughter from Ginny and Harry.

"Hopefully he will be a little more prepared for you today!" Harry said, causing Bella to laugh! It was a beautiful sound.

"I hope so too. Maybe everyone should wear a helmet when it's my turn to serve."

She laughed as we pulled into the school, we were a little early, so Bella had no problem finding a parking spot.

"Have you met any of the Cullen's?" Bella asked to know one in particular.

"I met Rosalie in PE. She's...umm...nice?" Ginny replied.

"I have English with with Alice, Jasper and Emmett." I said to her. Trying to talk a little more. "They're nice enough. Alice is... friendly. Jasper is pretty smart and Emmett is a doofus." Bella burst out laughing.

"A doofus? I can't remember the last time I heard anyone use that word. You really aren't from around here, are you?" Bella said through fits of giggles. She nudged my shoulder to show that she was teasing me. We all got out of the truck, when Bella stopped suddenly, her face full of smiles had turned serious. I turned to see where she was looking. Another one of them was standing next to a silver Volvo. I stopped in my own tracks when I saw him. Harry was right, he did look an awful lot like Cedric. Edward was taller though.

"Have any of you met him?" Bella asked.

"I did meet him yesterday, but we didn't exchange more than a few words." Harry said.

"He wasn't hostile with you?" Bella asked. Harry shook his head.

"No, he seemed fine." Harry told her.

I looked at Bella and I could see tears filling her eyes.

"Bella, what happened?" Ginny asked. She walked over to Bella and grabbed Bella's hand. "Did he say something to you?"

A single tear rolled down Bella's face. She hastily wiped it away.

"He didn't say anything. He just glared at me the entire class period. It was so awkward! I could practically feel his hatred for me rolling off of him." This shocked me, I wasn't expecting her to say that. If he really does hate her, why was I sent here?

"Bella, I think he wants to talk to you." Harry said. "He's coming over." Bella snapped her head up, looking directly at Edward. Before any of us could say anything, he was next to us.

"I'm Edward." He said to all of us. "Isabella, could I talk to you? Please?" He asked politely. If I actually had any doubts about him being a vampire, they disappeared in this moment. The way he spoke to her, it was like he was trying to hypnotize her with his charm. A predator trying to attract his pray.

"It's Bella and no! You may not talk to me." She said as she stormed past him. She caught him off guard. I don't think he's used to someone saying 'no' to him. Harry and Ginny quickly followed after Bella while I stayed behind to stare Edward down.

"I just wanted to talk to her. I was pretty rude to her yesterday. I wanted apologize to her." I folded my arms over my chest.

"You shouldn't have been so rude to her yesterday. On her first day no less." I said as I walked past him, purposely hitting his shoulder as I past. Huh! He's solid. Like stone. I guess we learn something new everyday.

So, this Edward thing is starting to get a little more complicated. The more Bella ignores him, the more he tries to talk to her. It's driving her nuts. He waits for her outside of each of her classes, trying desperately hard to apologizes for his behavior on Monday and well today is Friday. I think Bella has had enough.

"Ugh!" Bella cried as she walked up next to me. "Why is he so annoying?" Bella asked and I smiled at her. "If he tries talking to me at lunch again today. I might hit him." Bella said which caused me to burst out laughing. She stopped and looked at me. It made me feel uncomfortable. "Your laugh..." I was waiting for her to make fun of it. "It's wonderful." She said. She smiled and hugged me from the side. We both started walking to the cafeteria. "Your laughter is a gift, I hope I get to hear more of it. It's a good sign George, when you can laugh again... You start healing." She said to me. I'm always at a loss with words around her. So, I just watched her as she walked over to a group of her friends and spoke to them for a few minutes. I wonder if she was right, am I starting to heal? The ache in my heart is still just as sharp as before. I went and sat down at our table and started eating the lunch I brought with me. Ginny and Harry joined me shortly after I sat down.

"Uh oh. Edward is at it again." Ginny said and I turned to see Edward talking to Bella as she put together her salad.

"Edward, you don't understand. You scared me. Like really scared me. I know I wasn't imagining the pure hatred that was rolling off of you. If looks could kill." He stopped and took a step back.

"Your, your afraid of me?" He asked, his voice full of surprise. "I didn't mean to Bella. Really, I was just having a bad day."

"So you took it out on the new girl? Is that how you great everyone new around here." She was definitely not happy with him and I wanted to whisk her away, but I felt like maybe this was good that they were talking. Maybe he would leave her alone.

"No, I don't." He was starting to get upset with her. She responded by slamming down her tray and walking out of the cafeteria. I turned to Harry and Ginny.

"Why am I here? She clearly doesn't have feelings for him." Harry scratched his head.

"I'm not sure. Maybe it's one of the other Cullen's?" He replied.

"Or maybe there are other vampires that we don't know about?" Ginny suggested.

"Maybe." I said. We ate in silence, but then we heard a commotion outside.

"Call an ambulance." A girl cried.

After my spat with Edward, I walked to my locker just to cool off. When Mike freakin' Newton walked over.

"Hey Bella." He said when he reached me.

"Hey Mike." I said to him.

"I saw that you and Cullen were arguing in the cafeteria. Everything okay?" I just nodded my head. Really not in the mood to talk to him. He's asked me out to dinner, twice this week already. I'm just waiting for him to ask... again.

"So, I was thinking about going to the movies tonight, want to go with me?" There it was. He asked again. Maybe it wasn't dinner, but still being asked me out again. I really wanted to snap at him, but instead I went outside and headed to my truck. At least I will be safe from Edward and Mike out there. I was almost to my truck when I heard tires screeching on the black ice. I couldn't move. I was paralyzed with fear and a second before the van would have hit me, someone knocking me out of the way. I cracked my head on the concrete, but I feared whoever saved me had been crushed to death. I quickly looked up to see Edward hovering over me. The van was surrounding him, but he was completely unharmed. He was just looking at me. His face will full of concern and maybe guilt?

"Are you okay?" He asked me. I slowly nodded my head, but blacked out before I could say anything.

"Call an ambulance." A girl cried.

My eyes immediately scanned the cafeteria for Bella. I couldn't find her, Edward wasn't there either. My heart started racing and I felt like I was going to be sick. I ran straight out to the parking lot. A small crowd had gathered around Bella's truck. A van had smashed into the back of it. I was about to scream out her name. When a hand touched my shoulder.

"She's okay. Edward saved her. I can hear her heartbeat. I promise, she's okay. Edward's talking to our father right now." Jasper told me quickly. I looked up and I could see Edward on his phone, he finished his call and slipped the phone in his pocket and crouched down between the vehicles. I nodded to Jasper and mumbled a thank you. I quickly ran over to Bella and slipped in between the cars. My heart stopped when I saw her. She has a gash on the side of her head and was lying unconscious. Seeing her like this, I freaked out.

"She's okay." Edward told me, but I couldn't. I just couldn't. This scene was too familiar and I backed away. I know Edward was looking at me. Harry and Ginny were by my side. Harry crouched down next to Bella, but Ginny came back to me.

"It's not Fred. George, look at me. It's not Fred. It's Bella, she's still alive." I couldn't breathe. Ginny was looking at me, she felt helpless.

"Jasper." I heard Edward say quietly. The next thing I knew, Jasper was by me and I suddenly felt very calm and I could breathe again.

"I'm an empath, George. I can feel emotions and also give them. I can keep you calm and also keep Bella asleep so she won't feel any pain." I looked to him.

"Thank you." I said to him.

"Who's Fred." He asked me calmly.

"My twin brother." I told him, my eyes refusing to leave Bella's still form.

"Fred was killed in an explosion." Ginny said to him. I felt Jasper's understanding.

"I'm sorry for your loss." He spoke quietly to us.

"Thank you." I said to him... again.

"The ambulance is almost here, our father will take care of Bella. I think it's just a concussion, but she may need a couple of stitches." He said, I noticed his eyes going black. "I have to go, I'm sorry. The blood." I understood what that meant. I was surprised Edward was still by Bella and I realized now as I watched him. He was holding one of Bella's hands. He kept saying how sorry he was, he didn't mean for Bella to hit her head so hard, but if it weren't for him. Well, I don't want to think about what would have happened.

Just then the ambulance arrived and Bella was quickly loaded on the stretcher and then placed in the back of the ambulance. Edward went in with her.

"Come on, let's head over to the hospital." Ginny said, pulling me along. A jeep rolled up, the driver rolled down the window.

"Jasper thought you could use a ride." Emmett said.

"Thank you! That would be great." Harry told him and we quickly got in and Emmett drove us to the hospital.

"Thank you for the ride, Emmett." I said as we climbed out of his car.

"No problem." He said as he drove away.

"Well, these Cullen's are turning out to be a lot nicer than I thought they would be." Ginny said as we walked in.

We wanted to see Bella right away, but we were not permitted to see her yet.

We sat in the waiting room as more people from the high school arrived. A police officer came out about an hour later. Everyone quieted down when he approached.

"Thank you everyone for being here. For being friends of my little girl. I just wanted to let you know that Bella will be just fine." You could hear the sighs of reliefs all around the room. "She has a concussion and had to get a few stitches. Dr. Cullen wants to keep her over night for observations. So, now that you all know she's okay... Go back to school." He said and he walked away.

"What do we do?" I asked Harry and Ginny.

"We wait anyway." Ginny said as she moved back over to our seats in the lobby. Harry and I followed her over and sat down.

A couple hours later Jasper popped into the lobby. His eyes were back to their normal golden color.

"She's awake. She's with Edward right now, but she's asking for you guys." We jumped up and immediately followed him to Bella's room.

"She's in there." He stopped in front of a door. I was filled with relief as I walked in, but what caught me off guard was Edward sitting on Bella's bed. He had one of his hands on her leg and the other was holding onto her hand. She was smiling up at him. Laughing about something he said. She was over whatever problems she had with him. I guess the hero act does work. I backed up a bit and ended up leaving the room.

"Well now we have a problem." Harry said to Ginny.
