Chapter 18: Fear

A/n: Jag är ledsen att dagens kapitel blev kort men jag kommer att uppdatera nästa kapitel väldigt snart. Och jag brukar säga I mina andra A/n's vad jag inte kommer skriva men i nästa kapitel kommer jag att vara en hycklare.

Paige's POV:

It had been a mouth since me and Emily had that dinner together and now we were always open and honest to each other. We speeded a lot more time together, watching movies, hanging in the park and we have even gone ice skating once. I really loved her more for each time I saw her and I wasn't afraid to show her that. Whenever I was with her I felt complete and she could take my worst day and turn it around and that's just some of the reasons that I love her.

Today on the other hand I was with Caleb in the bat cave, there was something going on in this town, a few of my classmates who looked well and healthy had ended up I the mental hospital Radley and when I went to see them they really looked like they had gone insane overnight. It wasn't just my classmates there were also a lot of other people who had the same symptoms and they had earlier never showed any signs of that so they had to be connected somehow.

"No I can't find anything every one of those guys has in common." Caleb said as he searched the victims' backgrounds.

"Last night there were five more that were sent to Radley this is way beyond a coincidence." I said frustrated that we haven't gotten any results since we have been trying to find out something about this sudden disease.

"The media says it's a flue, but I don't believe them. When does a flue make someone turn insane overnight?" I say to convince Caleb to continue searching.

"I believe you but I can't find out how they are connected. Why don't you put on your batsuit and check the hospitals.

"Great idea Caleb maybe there is something in the hospital records." I say and I run to change into my batsiut.

"I'll send some information if I can find something useful." I say as I leave for the hospital.

I arrived at the hospital and entered through a window were there where a lot of hospital records, I look through the records and notice one thing the last five patients that was sent to Radley had in common.

"Caleb I've just found something interesting, all five patients that were sent to Radley were treated by Doctor E. Lamb." I said over the Comm link.

"Ok searching... Doctor Eddie Lamb. He is a doctor that's also a shrink. He often works in remote building where he has his medication and medical equipment." Suddenly Caleb sounded like he just realized something. "Paige you must hurry Hanna told me this morning that she was going to him to make sure she hasn't got the flue!" Caleb almost yells at me.

"I'm on it. Can you track her cell phone?" I ask over the Comm link.

"Already have, she is at a warehouse near Radley I'll send you the address." Caleb says and sends me the address and I waste no time in finding the building.

I enter through a basement window, the room I was in looked like a lab of some sort on a desk there were tubes were filled with different chemicals that I did not recognize. As I looked around his desk drawers I found a folder labeled fear formula.

I opened the folder and read his notes, this was a formula that would make people see their worst fear and slowly lose their minds. Under the folder I find a sample of the formula so I scan it and sends it to Caleb for an analysis.

"Paige the computer say that it's very possible that being exposed to that formula can lead to hallucinations and serious brain damage." Caleb says sounding worried.

"Do you think you can create a cure from the information I've sent?" I ask hoping he would say yes.

"Well chemistry isn't my area of expertise but I'll give it a try." Caleb says sounding unsure of my request.

Suddenly the door opens and a dark-skinned man in a suit walks in followed by a group of henchmen.

"Well well well, I thought you'd show up it was only a matter of time." He says smiling.

"Get her boys!" He says and points to me, with a big ugly smirk on his face.

His henchmen charge at me but I used to fight low life thugs. One takes a swing at me, I grab his fist with my left hand stopping his punch and hits him right on his throat with my right hand. He makes choking sound and bends forward holding his throat and I bring my knee to his forehead and he's knocked out.

I dive into the air and hit another one so he loses his balance, one tries to sneak up behind me but I notice him and kicks him right on his jaw so he falls to the ground.

Another one runs towards me with a steel pipe but I kick him in the gut stopping him effectively, then I lift him from the ground and throws him onto a henchman who is reaching for his gun so they both fall to the ground unconscious.

Two henchmen are now charging at me at the same time, I dodge under both there punches then I stand up and grabs both of them around their throats lifting them off the ground and slams them onto the floor.

Then one henchman tries to cut me with a big knife, he swings his knife really fast but I dodge it, he swings the knife again but I steps back so I'm just out of his reach then he takes another step forward trying to stab me in my torso but I sidestep and grabs his wrist from the hand that he is holding his knife in and I punch his elbow so he drops the knife then I turn around still holding his wrist and swings him over my head and slams him into the floor. Then I turn my attention to the last villain. He is scared and doesn't dare to go attacking me. As I walk towards him he backs away.

I had gotten enough of this so I look him in his eyes and say "Boo!" and he panics and runs away out of the room.

Now there was only the doctor left, I saw him hiding under the desk, I walked up to him and grabbed him by his blazer, but as I pulled him out from his hiding place I noticed that he was now wearing a small worn out mask that covered his entire face and looked worn out, It had an ugly smile painted on it and two holes where his eyes were. Suddenly some sort of gas sprayed out from his right sleeve.

I fell down to the ground and started coughing uncontrollably.

"That was a small dose of my serum, I've turned into a gas it's easier than to give the patients a syringe. Enjoy your hallucinations." He says laughing insanely as he walked away.

I got back up and the entire room looked like it was melting and I felt that I had to get out of there. I ran towards a door and quickly kicked it down to escape this sudden fear I felt in every bone in my body.

I reached for my Comm link. "Bat cave (I avoided using the Caleb's name in case someone was listening and then traced Caleb down.) Lamb infected me with the serum I need the cure now! I say in a panic. All I heard in the Comm link was static interference, this was not good.

"Bat cave I need the cure now please respond!" I try to reach Caleb again but I just kept getting static interference.

"I'm infected with that serum that drove everyone insane, I need to get the cure now!" I scream into the Comm link.

"I'm sorry the number you've dialed is currently not operative please check your numbers and try again." is all I can hear from the Comm link.

Then I looked up and saw a table with two body bags and they are both making some movements, someone was alive inside the body bags so I ran up to open the first body bag, I pulled down the zipper and to my fear it was my dead mom.

She looked at me "Why Paige? Why did you let me die?"

I panicked and backed away from her when suddenly the other body bag opened itself and inside it was my father.

"Paige our deaths were your fault are you happy? Is this how you remember us by letting the man who killed us live?" The still decaying corpse of my father says.

Then they both walk up to me looking angry at me. "You were always a disappointment we never wanted you. You are not our daughter." Both say at the same time.

I feel the fear in combination with my sadness making my legs starting to give up. I try to run away but when I turn around Caleb is standing in front of me with Hanna's dead body in his arms.

"You did this to her. If you wouldn't have gotten to this town in the first place Hanna would still be alive!" He says looking furiously at me.

I feel more scared than ever I rub my eyes hoping they would all just disappear.

I opened my eyes and that's when I see Emily. I walk up to embrace her, but she pulls away.

"DON'T TOUCH ME, I HATE YOU. YOU LIED TO ME. HOW DO YOU THINK I WOULD LOVE SOMEONE LIKE YOU? YOU DISGUST ME. I HATE YOU!" She screams at me. As I hear her saying those words I feel my heart breaking into pieces.

I trip to the ground and crawls on my knees and elbows as my parents, Caleb and Emily is sounding me.

"Why can't you do all of us a favor and die?" I hear someone say but I'm too sad to notice whom.

"Everything bad that happened to us was when you came into our lives. I hear the voices echoing in my head.

Then Dr. Lamb walks up to me.

"Sounds like you had fun that was just a small sample of what I got planned for you." He says I feel his foot hitting my head and everything goes black.

I'm sorry that today's chapter was short, but I will update the next chapter very soon. And I often say in my other A/n's what I will write, but in the next chapter, I will be a hypocrite.
