Chapter 20: Blackmailed

Paige's POV-
"Come on Caleb, if you want to fight crimes, fight harder!" I yell at Caleb. We are in the bat cave, in a training session to fight or more like I'm trying to teach Caleb not to get punched.
He tried to hit me with a right hook followed by an uppercut which were easy to dodge, then I grabbed his right arm and threw him over my shoulder for the fifth time today. Caleb can fight and he never gives up, but his fighting style needs to improve, in case we bump into another one of A's best men.
"Why can't I just sparing against one of your dolls?" Caleb said as he slowly got back up.
"The dolls are programed while I can surprise. You must learn to quickly adapt, when you are fighting otherwise even the weakest of enemies can defeat you." I say as I prepare for another one of Caleb's attacks.
He tried once again to punch me with a right hook which I dodged, but this time he kicked at me with his left leg, but sadly for him I was out of his reach, too bad that was a good move.
"Come on Batboy, stop trying to hit me and hit me for real!" I shout in an attempt to motivate him since he hated when I called him that.
Caleb ran up towards me and threw fast punches towards me that I blocked, but then from out of nowhere he jumped and he kicked me right in the jaw so I fell down to the floor.
"You're getting better. That is all training for today." I say as I get back to my feet.
"What?! You're scared that now when I hit you then I can beat you?" He says with a proud smile.
"No, you have your date with Hanna and if you leave now you can get there in time and maybe take a shower." I say as Caleb looks at his watch.
"Oh shit!" Caleb say as he starts running, that's when I trip him.
"Remember I have taught you everything you need to know, but I haven't taught you everything I know." I tell him as I help him back up. I tripped him to show that I wouldn't be so easily defeated by him.
Once Caleb had left I sat down by the computer and started to find out A's next move. What was A planning next, and what will A's next move be.
"Are you down there?" I heard Emily's voice as she walked into the bat cave.
"Yeah, I just finishing my training with Caleb. He had to go, since he has a date with Hanna." I answered as Emily walked up to me.
"You know, if Hanna knew your secret you wouldn't have this problem." Emily said.
"Yeah, I would have to worry about her telling it to everyone, she isn't great at keeping secrets Em." I say looking at Emily.
"Are you sure? You'd be surprised." Emily says and walks around the bat cave.
"It's not that I don't trust her, she just has a bad habit of saying too much." I say and follows Emily who is now at the chamber pods where I got my bat suites and some of Caleb's Robin suites.
"Hard to believe that they are military suites. When I see them, I think they look like something from a sci-fi movie." Emily says as she looks at my suites.
"Yes my parent's inventions were meant to be the future of equipment that we would win all wars with less casualties on our side." I answered as I walk towards Emily.
"Why are those suites in a separate pile?" Emily says and points to a pile of suites that I only used to test how much punching or bullets the upgrades could take.
"I don't use those suites, I only use them to test my upgrades for my other suites." I answer
"So why do you have so many of them, and why are they styled with your bat logo?" Emily says looking towards me.
"I was going to use them, but after I styled them I noticed that they were all the wrong size. And I had already styled them so I couldn't return them." I said.
"Are you sure? They look like the height and shoulder width suites you." Emily says as she lifts one of my suites. "Wow they are heavier than I thought."
"Those suits were too tight." I said hoping that Emily was going to drop the subject.
"Really were?" Emily says looking towards me.
I give up and my face is getting red by embarrassment "The chest was too small." I say quickly and turn my head to hide my embarrassment.
"I'm sorry, I didn't hear you." Emily says and looks towards me with a smile that made me believe that she knew what I just said.
"The breast size was too small so it wouldn't fit me without crushing my torso." I say louder so I know Emily could hear me.
She starts laughing hard, she falls to the floor and holds her sides.
"Yeah, really funny, laugh it up." I say as I walk up to Emily.
"Are you done laughing?" I say and look down at her sternly.
"Yes, I got some funny images in my head of the suite exploding while you try to put it on, but I'm done laughing now." She says still lying down on the floor.
"Are you sure?" I say and reach down and starts tickling her sides so she laugh uncontrolled.
"NO PAIGE HAHAHA STOP IT, IT'S NOT FUNNY!" She yells between her laugh attacks.
"If it isn't funny why are you still laughing?" I say and starts to move my fingers faster.
Emily tries to crawl away, but I'm too strong, so I push her down and pins down her arms under each of my legs, so now she is stuck.
"PAIGE STOP! I PROMISE I WONT LAUGH AT THAT AGAIN!" She yell in an attempt to get me to stop but I was having too much fun already.
"PAIGE... STOP... I'M GOOING TO PEE!" She yells in panic, so I stop and gets off of her.
"You're crazy" Emily says as I help her back up.
"But I know you love me." I say to mock her.
"And that's what bothers me the most." She says and shoves me playfully.
We walk upstairs and decides to watch a movie. I sit on the couch and Emily sits on my lap and leans towards me with her arm around my neck and her head on my shoulder. I didn't pay any attention to the movie I just focused on Emily and kissed her head when the movie ended.
Emily was asleep on my lap with her head leaned against my left shoulder. I didn't mind that I had noticed that she wasn't sleeping well at nights and I wouldn't blame her, after everything that had happened to her since she met me.
I put my right hand under her legs and my left hand on her back and lifted her from the couch and carried her to my bed. I walked slowly and gently so she wouldn't wake up and as I walked up the stairs I could feel her leaning closer towards me like she felt safe when she was close to me. I walked into my bed room and very gently put her on my bed and pulled the cover over her. I saw her sleeping and it was like watching a goddess. How did I ever get this lucky to have a girl like Emily in my life, every time she smiled at me it was like all bad things that ever happened to me didn't matter? I leaned down and kissed her forehead very softly so I wouldn't wake her up.
I wanted to lay in the bed, just move in right behind her and hold her in my arms all night, but I didn't have that luck, tonight me and Caleb was going to patrol so I walked to the bat cave and changed into my bat suite, ready to see what this night had in store for me and Caleb.
I meet Caleb on one of the roof tops, he was wearing his Robin suite and was ready for a full night patrol.
The first thing we saw was three men about to rob an old lady.
"Robin, you can handle these guys on your own." I said and sat down as Caleb dove down to the street and pulled out his staff in midair. He landed right between the old lady and the robbers. If I had landed in front of them the robbers would have tried to escape but since Robin was new to this town they didn't back down they were ready to fight Caleb.
All three robbers attacked at the same time, but Caleb jumped over them so they all fall onto each other. One got up and threw a right punch to Caleb but he ducked under the fist and elbowed him in the gut so the villain fell to the ground struggling to breath.
the other two got back up and charged together one more time but Caleb hit both of them with his staff as he swung it back and forward between them aiming for their heads. After four hits they were down and the old lady were safe so Caleb fired his grapple hook and meet me at the roof top.
"Did you let me do all the fighting alone because it was part of my training?" Caleb said as he looked at me.
"No, it was an evaluation of what you have learned from sparing with me and you passed it." I said proudly to him.
Caleb looked at me first confused, but when he heard that he had passed he got very happy.
"Do you think that I can take on A's best soldiers now?" He says sounding a bit too cocky for his own good.
"On your own no. With me, yes." I answered him.
I didn't want him to go alone on a suicide mission, even I had faith in him I knew he still was a little rough around the edges, so for now I was going to sharpen his fighting skills by only letting him fight alone against thugs that were too scared to face me.
As the rest of the night flew by, Caleb and I didn't get much fighting tonight just some thugs trying to rob lonely people on the streets or young hooligans who vandalized buildings so the night was pretty eventless.
As the dawn was approaching we ended our patrol and we both headed to our homes, we parted ways as we reached the church. Caleb went to his place and I returned to my mansion.
When I entered the kitchen, I saw Emily. She was walking up to me with a cup of coffee.
"Hi sweetheart, I've made you some coffee." Emily says and hands me the cup.
"Thank you, but you didn't have to." I said as I accepted the coffee cup.
"I woke up earlier and thought you could use some coffee." She said as I took a sip.
"Oh, and I got the mail and you got a letter from the board of your parents company." Emily said and I almost chocked on my coffee.
Why would the contact me now? they never have since my parents funeral. What could they want now?
"I'll open it later, right now you are everything I want to focus on." I say and put down the coffee cup and pulls in Emily for a kiss.
Emily broke the kiss and looked at me. "Paige why is it that the only time we spend the entire night together is after we had sex?" she asks and looks a bit sad.
"I don't know Emily, I mean I do have a second life, where I have to stop A but I never meant to make you feel like I don't care about you, I love you with all of my heart and when A is defeated I'll spend more time than ever together with you." I say and she gives me a quick peck on the lips and then she pulls me in for a tight hug.
I didn't wanted to let go, I was worried that A was going to kill me because I wasn't sure how to fight A or who A was. So I had no idea how to fight A, but I pretended to be confident, if I didn't believe in myself, Emily probably wouldn't.
We continued eating our breakfast until Emily said that Spencer was on her way to pick her up.
"You know." I said using my sexiest voice and wrapped my arms around her waist. "It's take ten minutes for Spencer to get here."
Emily leaned towards me so I could see deep into her eyes. "It only takes two for you sweetheart." She says gives me a quick peck and then she walks upstairs to get dressed.
"It takes a strong two minutes." I say to myself and flex my biceps. Emily Fields, you have no idea what you just missed.
After Spencer came and picked up Emily I sat down and read the letter from my parents company.
It said that I had to go to Rive Gauche (a fancy French restaurant) and discuss the company's future, later today. I wonder what they meant by that, so I got dressed in a business suit since I hated wearing dresses.
I go to the restaurant and sat at one of the tables that was reserved under the name McCullers, what did the board member have in mind if they wanted to meet me like this?
After a while, two men sat down at my table. Their names was Frank Boles and Quincy Sharp, they were both in there mid forty and were wearing suits. They sat down and got their menus.
"So, Miss McCullers I hope you brought your credit card, we both unfortunately forgot our wallets." Sharp said. He never liked me.
"Fine, I'll pay." I say, I hope this will go fast, I hate that guy.
"I'll have the most expensive." Boles said and handed his menu to the waitress.
"Same here." Sharp said. Ok now he's just an asshole.
I gave the waitress my order and as she walked away, I looked sternly to the both of them.
"What do you two want?" I ask hoping they would keep it short.
"Well your family's company demands much focus in several departments and it takes a lot of experience to get a job and right now we need to get rid of some unnecessary burdens." Boles said and looked at me.
"What!" I yelled as I realized, that they were trying to get me kicked out of my own company.
"We knew you wouldn't cooperate so we are going to make a deal." Sharp said.
"We know that you are, Batgirl." He said and opened his briefcase.
"First of all you have been buying a lot of our company's army suits with your credit card. The second, this suite is one of ours, but it's been upgraded and is your exact measures." He says and shows a photo of the batsuit that I has thrown after my fight against Fire fly.
"The only army suits that has been sold, were paid with your credit card and all are in your size plus all extra equipment were paid by you, so you are Batgirl." Sharp said.
"You know there is a high bounty on Batgirls head, but we'll keep your secret if you sign this document." He says and reaches into his briefcase looking for a document.
"It seems like I've forgotten to bring the papers at work. Well we'll just have to have you coming to the company tomorrow and sign over all rights to us so it won't be your company anymore, that's the price for my silence." Sharp says and his words hits me like a ton of bricks.
"If I sign those documents I'll lose everything." I said.
"That's right you won't get your huge allowance anymore." He said looking with evil in his eyes.
"And what if I'll fire you?" I say in an attempt to fight fire with fire.
"Then I'll sent this to every news media in town and everyone will know your secret." He says so, I know that I'm defeated.
"So when I sign the papers tomorrow, I won't have to worry about any one of you telling my secret anyway." I say.
"Don't worry that will be the last of your problems, you see you'll have to return all of the company's equipment once you have sign the document." Boles said with an ugly smirk.
I couldn't believe it, I had been bested, I had lost almost everything if I didn't sign the documents tomorrow, my secret would be revealed and if it did, I would never be Batgirl again, so I had no choice, I did this to protect the once I love.
"I'll do it, I'll sign the documents tomorrow." I say defeated and slammed my fist on the table. "I can't stay here." I said and leave the restaurant.
I walked out and called Emily on my cell phone.
"Emily it's me, something horrible has happened, can I talk to you face to face?" I ask over the phone.
"Of course Paige you can come to my place and I'll be there for you." Emily said.
It felt good that I at least had Emily in my life, she always knew how to comfort me. I'm going to Emily's, I don't know where else I wanted to be right now, since tomorrow I was going to lose everything my family has built up, I felt like I was going to throw up. The part that was the worst was, that I was never going to be able to protect anyone anymore, I wouldn't be able to protect Emily anymore.
