Chapter 21: The Gift

A/n: First off all I'm still working with frfusch21 who is Writing a great Paily story, so if you like Paily and zombies then you'll want to check out "Between Death and Live" it's really good.

Emily's POV-

I had gotten a phone call from Paige earlier, she didn't say what it was but I could tell that this was a big problem. Paige would always hide her vulnerability but I could tell that she was about to cry over the phone so whatever the problem was I'll be there for her no matter what.

I heard the doorbell ring and I rushed downstairs but I stayed in front of the door and took a deep breath before opening the door.

I saw Paige and for the first time ever I saw her crying. I ran up and hugged her tightly as I could hear her sobbing into my shoulder.

I didn't know what to say since Paige didn't tell me what's wrong, but I didn't want to force her she'll talk when she is ready.

"There, there Paige let it out." I say as I rub my left hand up and down Paige's back while I can feel her tears dripping onto my shoulder as I moved my right hand to the back of her head, right now there was no need for words Paige needed this and I didn't want to push her any further I just let her cry the pain out.

Paige broke the hug and looked at me with her big brown sad eyes.

"Em, the letter I got this morning... It was from the company they know my secret and they'll spread the word if I don't give up the company and return all of my bat gear." She said with her eyes full of tears.

I reached over and cupped her face wiping the tears away with my thumbs.

"So what are you going to do?" I said as I pulled her in and rested our foreheads together.

"I gave up to them, tomorrow I'm going to sing over everything to them, and tomorrow there won't be any Batgirl. Em I won't be able to protect you." She said.

"Paige I don't care who you are you'll always be my dark knight." I said and pulled her in for another hug.

I didn't believe what I heard my Paige had given up but I had to remain strong like Paige always is.

"It doesn't matter if you were broke and lived in a box I would still love you and will not get tired of spending time with you so please Paige don't let this destroy you." I said worried that Paige would go down a dark path of self-destruction.

"Ok I will for you and Kaitlyn." I heard Paige mumble.

"Who's Kaitlyn?" I asked surprised.

"Oh, I didn't think you'd hear that. Kaitlyn is what I want to name my daughter, I sometimes day dream about having a house by the beach and kids and when I put a name on the girl in my mind it almost feels so real even if it's only for a few seconds. Paige said and I feel my heart beating faster when I heard her say that.

"Paige that's sweet I hope that I'll be with you in that future. You, me, Kaitlyn and some more." I say and press my lips onto Paige's and she opens her mouth to deepen the kiss and our tongues battle for dominance.

I wish that we could go further but Paige didn't need that she was sad and it wouldn't feel right so I broke the kiss and said. "Paige let's get you home tomorrow I'll stand by you every step of the way." I say and we both go to Paige's mansion.

"You look good in a suite perhaps I'll buy you a fedora one day." I say as I admire Paige's suite.

She gives me a small smile, I don't think I can completely get her mind of what happened earlier today but there is always tomorrow.

As we reached Paige's mansion I helped her to bed, tomorrow was going to be a long day for her.

Paige's POV-

The next day:

I woke up early in the morning today was going to be the day when I sign my family's company to Boles and Sharp and saying goodbye to being Batgirl. Those men were pigs they only did this for money, I swear if I wasn't gay before I defiantly would be that now.

I'm really blessed to have Emily in my life, without her I'd killed myself last night but knowing that she'll stand by me makes this a whole lot easier to cope with.

I got dressed in a black suit with a white shirt and a black tie, it felt like I was going to Batgirls funeral.

I heard a knock on the door so I went down and opened it, it's Emily she looks at me and says. "Shall we go now or do you have anything you want to take care off?"

"No I just want to get this over as soon as possible." I answer as we are walking away from my mansion.

"So what are you going to do after you have signed over your company?" Emily asked me as we were walking down the street.

"I'll probably have to sell my mansion and move in with my aunt." I said.

"I mean what do you want to do right after we leave the building?" Emily said and wrapped her right arm around my waist.

"I want to be with you no matter where we are." I say and lean onto her.

We continue to walk to my company and when we reach the front door everyone inside just stops and stares at us like we weren't supposed to be here.

I walk up to the receptionist and says "Hi Cindy I'm here to sign the documents."

She looks confused at me and says "What documents?"

Apparently they hadn't told anyone about the news. "Ok if Boles and Sharp enter and asks for me tell them that I'm in my parents' office." I said as I walked towards the elevator holding Emily's hand in mine.

"I guess they weren't going to tell anyone until they got the documents signed." I said to Emily as we was in the elevator going up. Emily was still holding my hand and she rubbed her thumb over the back of my hand to comfort me.

We reached our floor and we both went into my parent's office.

"You know I was going to take over this company when I graduated." I said as Emily walked up to a window. "And now I don't know what I'll do." I said and let my head sink down.

"We'll get through this together." I heard Emily saying and as I look up I can see her standing right in front of me.

She leans in and gives me a quick peck. I'm so happy to have her with me right now.

"Well, I guess that we'll wait for them to arrive." I said and sat down in an office armchair that was behind my dad's desk. As I sit down Emily looks at me.

"You look like a mafia boss right now." Emily says.

I remembered that I was in a business man's suit. "Yeah I'm the don Paige McCullers." I say trying to distract myself from what that happened last night.

Emily takes a chair and sits down next to me and we wait and wait and wait but Boles and Sharp don't appear at all. Where are they, they were about to take over my family's company that's worth millions of dollars I'm surprised they weren't here earlier than me.

"Cindy, has Boles and Sharp gotten here yet?" I ask over the office phone.

"No they haven't and they probably aren't getting here today, must be sick or something." I hear Cindy say over the Phone.

"Thank you Cindy." I say and hangs up.

"Let's go Em, I don't think I'll sign over my company today." I say and we both walk to the elevator.

As we leave the building we both realize that we have waited for hours and we are both hungry so we walk to the closes place that sell food in this case it was a McDonald's.

I order a cheeseburger with french-fries and a coke and Emily ordered a Mcwrap and an orange juice, than we sit down and eat our food.

"What do you think happened to them?" Emily asks referring to Boles and Sharp.

"I don't know they were about to become bosses over my family were successful company." I said as I took a bite from my burger.

"I know, you think they had a change of heart?" Emily said.

"They are corporate men without any emotions to have a change of heart they need to have a heart." I answered sounding a bit angry.

"Ok calm down." Emily said and raised her hands in defense. "It's just I'm worried that they did something else with the information they have on you." She said.

"I know, they are soulless but not stupid they want my company and since I'd agreed to the terms they won't... HEY." I yell as I notice that Emily just stole some of my french-fries.

"What I didn't get any?" She said and reached over to my fries but I slapped her hand "My fries." I say as she pulls away her hand.

"Can I just get one more?" Emily says and gives me her sad puppy dog eyes.

"Fine, but you'll have to get it yourself without using your fingers." I say and I take one of my fries and put half of it in my mouth and leans towards her. Emily moves in and gives me a kiss and I drop it when our lips are pressed against each other.

"Thank you." Emily says when we pull away our lips from each other.

"I'm really happy to have you with me. My life has sucked before I met you and if I hadn't met you I probably wouldn't know what to do with myself." I say and looks right into Emily's eyes. I would always get lost in them.

"Paige wow, I didn't know you felt that way." Emily says sounding stunned.

"I know you gave me a life after my parents died I only lived for protecting the innocent and punishing the villains but when I saw you for the first time I knew you were something special right when I kissed you I knew I wanted to be with you. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me. For me you are a gift from heaven." I said as I looked into her eyes.

Emily leaned in and kissed my lips and I opened my mouth to deepen the kiss. Suddenly we got showered in french-fries and two young boys yelled "eeew gross." And then they ran away.

"Kids." Emily said and shrugged her shoulders as I reached over and took some french-fries from Emily's hair. "Well you did say you wanted more fries." I said and we both started laughing.

We finish the food on the table and in our hair then I followed Emily home to her house. We walked home and I was leaning against Emily all the way, usually Emily is leaning against me but today I needed Emily and she didn't fail me.

When we reached Emily's house and she walked up in front of me and put her arms around my neck.

"You know my mom doesn't mind you spending time with me I'm sure she won't mind seeing you." She said and pulled me in for a quick kiss.

"Sure Em, I'll stay for a while." I said and we both walked inside the house.

We walked through the door and we saw Emily's mom in the kitchen.

"Hi mom." Emily said.

"Hi Mrs. Fields." I said and Emily's mom started staring at me.

"Paige you can call me Pam, after all the times you have been there for my daughter when I couldn't be there you have earned to call me Pam." Pam says and smiles at me.

"Ok, mom we'll be in my room for a while." Emily said and led me to her room.

"The door stays open." Pam yelled as we were heading upstairs, apparently she doesn't know how many times Emily and I have spent the night together in my bed.

"Your mom seems to like me." I say as we enter Emily's room.

"Yeah after Maya she has been really protective, but she trusts you. I know I asked her once." Emily said.

"Oh, really?" I said surprised over what Emily just told me.

"Yeah and she knows that I've spent some nights with you but she doesn't think that we've had sex." Emily says "Or she pretends that she doesn't know." Emily continues and sits down on the window seat and I join her.

We sat down on her window seat just talking and the time just flew by, we talked about everything that we could think of and before I noticed it was 10:30 pm so I had to go home.

Emily followed me to the door and we said our goodbyes. Then I started walking home, I was a bit worried about what Boles and Sharp would have done. The only other thing that they would make money from would be if they sold that information to A but they would make more money if they took over my family's company.

As I walked home I noticed something in an alley. It was the corpses of two men one was Boles and his entire chest was crushed like an empty soda can. I couldn't make out who the other one was since he was decapitated and I couldn't see his head anywhere.

As I searched the corpses for clues I found an envelope that was addressed to Batgirl. Without thinking I reached down and took the envelope and put it inside my blazer pocket before I called the police, it would seem suspicious if someone saw me leaving a crime scene.

A few minutes after I had made the call to the police three police cars had arrived and the area got cordoned off and two police officers started to question me if I knew the victims so I told them everything about Sharp and Boles except my Batgirl secret.

The police officers continued to question me but I didn't have any time for, I wanted to get back to the bat cave and check the envelope.

Suddenly I heard a voice telling the police officers to stop question me. I turned around and saw Pam Fields walking up to me. She put her hands on my shoulders and looked me in my eyes.

"Paige are you alright child." She asked me.

"Yes but I would like to go home now." I answered her and she nodded.

"Come here I'll give you a ride home." She said and led me to her car.

She drove me home to my mansion and as I walked out Pam looked at me and said. "Listen Paige if you ever feel lonely you're always welcome to see me and Emily at my house."

Hearing those words was really great, I felt like Pam really accepted that I was her daughter's girlfriend.

"Thank you Pam I'll remember that." I said as I walked out of her car and entered my mansion.

I went to the bat cave and opened the envelope, I found a memory card for cellphones so I put it in my computer not really sure what to find.

On the memory card there was a video file so I chose to play it.

In the video I saw Boles and Sharp walking into the ally, they were drunk anyone could see that.

Suddenly I saw a man walking up towards them at first I couldn't see who it was but once he turned towards the camera I could see that it was my teacher Ezra Fitz.

"Good evening gentle means anything you two celebrated lately?" Ezra asked the two men.

"Yeah you could say that, we have found out who Batgirl is and tomorrow we're going to make tons of money from that information it's all in this briefcase." Sharp said patting his briefcase.

"Well that's too bad, you see my boss want's Batgirl's identity to remain a secret and that's what me and my assistant is here to make sure off." Ezra says.

Suddenly another man appeared in the alley from out of nowhere and with one quick punch he punched Sharp's head off from his body.

Ezra picked up the briefcase and opened it to hand his assistant a note. Once the other man walked up to Ezra I saw that it was Wilden, he must have escaped the prison but there was something different about him, he looked stronger.

After Wilden had read the note he handed it to Ezra who burnt it with the briefcase and then he turned to Wilden and says.

"Now only you know Batgirls secret. Find her and kill her but first we can't have any loose threads." And Wilden turns to Boles and put both of his hands on Boles side and slowly lifts him off the ground and crushes Boles Chest.

Then Ezra turns to the camera and says. "Well Batgirl I just did you a favor. I'm A's best spy and even I couldn't find out your secret but now my assistant will hunt you down, but I'm not a monster You'll have until Sunday night to prepare then Wilden will hunt you down and then your friend Robin.

Then the video ends and I grab my cell phone and calls Caleb, but when he isn't answering I leave him a voice mail.

"Caleb it's me, someone of A's men knows my secret and I need your help to stop him meet me at the bat cave as soon as you get this message." I say and then I hang up and then I watch the video again and freezes when I see Wilden punch Sharp's head of his body.

"Wilden what have you done to yourself?" I say to myself as I sink down in my chair.
