Chapter 22: T-9 Serum
Paige's POV-
"You see why I'm nervous. I have to fight that guy tonight" I said as I showed Caleb the video of Ezra and Wilden.
"Yeah, that's not good." Caleb said as he kept checking the video.
"Not good isn't enough Caleb, its fucking disaster!" I yell.
"Sorry Caleb, I'm not mad at you, I'm just furious that Wilden knows my secret. Just look at him, he punched a man's head right of the body." I say as I pause the video.
"I know Paige, but I want you to know that when you'll have to fight him tonight, I'll stand there right by your side." He says and I respectfully pat him on the shoulder.
"It feels good that I have someone I can trust to fight someone that looks like he's just as strong as He-man." I say and turns off the video.
"So what will we do now?" Caleb says.
"We must prepare. Wilden knows who I am now and he'll look me up tonight." I say and puts on my bat suit when suddenly my cellphone ring.
"Hello?" I answer not sure who is calling me at this time.
"Hello there, young McCullers." I recognize the voice at the other side of the phone.
"Wilden!" I almost growl in anger over the phone.
"Well I'm glad you remembered me, after all I almost killed your girlfriend. Perhaps I'll pay her a little visit." He said over the phone mocking me.
"Leave her out of this Wilden, this is between you and me." I say over the phone feeling my anger building up even more. No one threatens my girlfriend.
"Ooh you're quite aggressive when you upset, but the problem is I'm not the same guy as the last time we met." He said.
"What do you want?" I say over the phone.
"A want a home-made video of you and your girlfriend filmed in your bedroom." He says over the phone. He really wants to piss me off.
"But I know that won't happen, so I'll settle with defeating you and your boy and unmaking you both tonight." He says sounding very confident.
"Where do you want to fight?" I ask staring to control my built up anger. Right now wasn't the time to lose control and say something that would make things even harder for me.
"On the bridge that leads out of town. I want to stand there when I remove that mask and shows the world that the feared Batgirl is only the rich spoiled orphan brat Paige McCullers." He says and then he starts laughing.
In anger, I throw my cell phone on the ground and it breaks into several pieces.
"That was an expensive phone, are you sure that was a smart idea?" Caleb asks when he looks down to the floor where my phone was smashed.
"I'm rich I can buy a new one." I said while showing Caleb that I don't give a damn about my phone right now.
"I know it's just... I don't think I've seen someone make you that pissed in that short time." Caleb said taking a step backwards.
"I'm not going to hurt you Caleb." I say as I see that he's scared, I'll take out my anger on him.
"I know it's just that I've seen what you do to your enemies when you are that pissed and I'm just worried that you are going to let the anger build up to the point where you can't tell friend from enemy." Caleb says.
I take a deep breath. "Caleb I won't attack you, no matter how angry I am, I never going to attack any of my friends."
Caleb seems to have stopped worrying and walks up to me.
"Just forget it. So where are we going to face this guy?" Caleb asks me.
"At the bridge. For some reason he wants to unmask me there. I answered and Caleb nods.
"And Paige. Wilden isn't the only problem we should worry about." Caleb says.
"Yeah, he isn't the only problem. Mr. Fitz is one of A's spies." I say knowing what he was talking about.
"I must say I would never think of him as a bad guy." Caleb said.
"Yeah and now he has disappeared, it's like he has been swallowed by the earth." I say.
It was true, ever since I saw that video a few days ago Mr. Fitz has stopped teaching at Rosewood high. The teachers and the police thought that he had been kidnapped by A.
Aria was for some reason devastated. When I asked Emily why Aria was so miserable but she told me that Aria had her reasons and she didn't want anyone know about it.
I hadn't asked Aria why. I figured if I did it, it would only make things worse and she would either be furious at me and Spencer would judge me for it, until I graduated so I didn't ask anything.
Spencer was just as protective over her friends as I was over Emily when someone threatened her.
"But we'll have to focus on him later right now, Wilden is our problem and as you can see, we must be extra careful fighting him since he punched the head of that one guy's body." I said to remind both of us that Mr. Fitz wasn't our main concern right now.
"Of course, you're right about that, tonight we will focus on Wilden and tomorrow we figure out what to do about Mr. Fitz." Caleb said.
"Tomorrow you are going to spend the day with Hanna and enjoy every second of it like I do when I'm with Emily." I said to Caleb.
If I wouldn't have Emily to spend time with, I wouldn't have much of reasons to win my battles against A's henchmen and I knew Caleb felt the same way with Hanna.
"Ok, but Wilden knows your secret what will you do about that?" Caleb asked me.
"I'll cross that bridge when I get there." I answered.
He was right, Wilden knew my secret, so if I defeat him, he would probably tell everyone in jail that I am Batgirl and if I killed him, I wouldn't be able to look Emily in her eyes.
Later on the bridge
Robin and I had just arrived where Wilden said he wanted to fight us. We were standing on the middle of the bridge and waited for Wilden.
We looked around, but all we saw on the bridge was abandoned cars all over the bridge. I wonder what would make people leave their cars just like that.
Suddenly Robin and I saw a car moving, then we saw Wilden. He was pushing the car out of his way as he walked towards us.
"So you did both arrive, brave but foolish of you." Wilden almost shouted.
"I had a feeling that you was going to find me if I didn't showed up." I said back to him.
Wilden turns to Robin and says. "Leave boy, and I promise I'll spare you."
Caleb walks up beside me and says. "This battle is just as much mine as it is hers." I'm glad that I got him by my side.
"Hers? Why doesn't he use your real name Paige McCullers?" He says with a disgusting smirk.
"Don't worry, I haven't told anyone yet I want to unmask you so everyone will see your face just before I tear your head off, and use it as my coffee cup." He says sounding very motivated.
Then he drops his jacket and Robin and I see he has a storage tank on his back that contains a yellow liquid and he has tubes that leads from the storage tank to his arms and back.
"You remember the T-8 serum?" He asks me.
"Yes, it was an experimental drug that was used to heal severe muscle injuries but the production of the serum was cut off when it led to permanent brain damage." I answered.
"Yes, A had it improved to make a man stronger than humanly possible without any brain damage since only smaller doses are needed. This the T-9 serum the result of the improvement of the T-8 serum and I have waited for the right moment to see just how long you can survive when I got it in my body!" He yelled at us.
Then he twisted on a valve on his chest and we could see some of the serum go through the tubes right into his body and then his muscles expanded to a fast rate and we could see some of his blood vessels turning yellow. Then he walked up to a car and grabbed the bumper with both his hands and lifted it above his head.
"NOW THE TIME FOR TALKING IS OVER!" He yelled and threw the car at me and Caleb, but we both dodged out of its way.
Wilden charged at us with an incredible speed and managed to tackle both me and Robin to the ground, it felt like I got hit by a train.
"He's like a human wrecking ball." Robin said as we got back at our feet.
I ran towards Wilden and threw a punch to his gut. It felt like I had punched a brick wall and he didn't even budge.
As he threw a fist, I dodged it in the last second and Robin appeared in the air hitting Wilden with his staff right across Wilden's face, surprisingly it didn't have any effect on him he just laughed it off.
"My turn." He said and jumped into the air and slammed his fist onto the ground so the entire bridge started to shake, but Robin and I kept our balance.
Wilden then grabbed Robin by his throat and held him in the air to choke him. I had to act fast. I ran up behind him and started punching his head with all of my might and it seemed to work because he let go of Robin, but now he turned his attention to me.
He tried to ram me but I dodged to the side, avoiding his fast attack and as I turned around, I saw Wilden running towards me again. This time I jumped over him and then I saw one of Robin batrangs flying in the air, it sliced through one of the tubes on Wildens back and I noticed that his muscles started to shrink.
This was an opening that I needed, I kicked Wilden from behind, hitting him in the back of his head and Robin punched Wilden in the face as Wilden lost his balance from my kick. He fell to the asphalt but got back up again.
As he noticed the broken tube, he turned the valve again to compensate his muscles lost when Robin's batrang sliced through it.
He jumped into the air once again, but this time me and Robin was prepared. We drove towards different locations and threw one batrang each. Sadly they both missed the tubes on Wildens back but we knew we would get more chances.
Our new tactic was to surround him, so he would have his back turned towards one of us so the other can run up behind him and cut off another tube.
Once we were on each side of Wilden he understood what we had planned, so he started running faster and faster making it almost impossible to hit him with one of our batrangs, but it also made it Impossible for him to attack us, since he knew that if he would stop to attack one of us, the other would get a clear shot at him.
Suddenly Robin took out an electric batrang from his belt and threw it at Wilden, and the shock from that batrang made him stop and fall to his knees so then we both attacked him.
I ripped out two tubes from him and he screamed from the pain, apparently the tubes were much deeper inside him than I thought, we saw how his muscles shrank very quickly, after a few seconds he began to look weaker than when I fought him the night he tried to kill Emily.
I hold back Wildens arms and Caleb stared punching Wilden's face over and over again until I felt Wilden was about to faint.
"That's enough Robin." I said and Robin stopped punching and I let go of Wilden, so I fell his face first into the street.
"Well I guess that's how we defeat a guy that is that strong. We remove his power source." I say as we start walking away from the bridge.
Suddenly we heard some coughing behind us, when we turned we saw Wilden getting back up.
"YOU LEAVE ME NO CHOISE MCCULLERS." He yells and then he turns the valve all the way completely emptying the tank on his back.
Caleb and I both watched in horror as Wilden grow from a man into a hulk sized titan. His arms were bigger than me, his chest was as big as a small car, his eyes had a yellow glow and he grew into being almost ten feet tall. To put it bluntly he was no longer a man he was the true definition of a monster.
He roared so loud that some of the car's windshield cracked and then he lifted a car above his head with only one hand.
He threw the car off the bridge, but luckily it landed in the lake so no one got hurt.
"BATGIRL" He roared and ran towards me and Robin, tackling away all cars that was parked in his way.
Caleb and I knew we couldn't fight him head on, the impact from one punch to one of us would probably make the skeleton fly out of our bodies.
We dodged from him, one good thing with his new size was that he was moving much slower than before, but now it seemed that he had unlimited energy.
He turned around and threw another car at us, it flew towards us at the speed of a cheetah that we barely dodged in time.
"We need something really heavy to hit this guy." Robin said and I looked up and saw a crane with a wrecking ball. It was left there, when an old club was tied down and I guess they just haven't had time to remove it.
"Robin" I said and gestured to the wrecking ball and he responded by nodding and then he jumped of the bridge gliding towards the crane.
"LOOKS LIKE YOUR FRIEND HAS LEFT YOU!" He yells and walks towards me.
"If you want me, come and get me." I say as I move towards Wilden and he charges towards me.
As we are close to each other, he swings with his boulder sized fist and I glide under him right between his legs, ending up behind him.
"Missed me?" I said as he turned around and charged me again.
This time I threw a smoke bomb right in front of him, so he couldn't see me and ran head first right towards a parked excavator. I could hear the sound of the collision echoing as Wilden slammed his skull into the front of the excavator.
He dropped to his knees from the impact and I walked up and started punching him with everything I had. I threw a hard right punch to his jaw followed by a fast left that made his head turn right into another hard punch from my right hand.
Suddenly he grabbed my upper body with his enormous hand and slammed me into the ground. I tried to get back up but he put his right feet on me to hold me down.
"ANY LAST WORDS BATGIRL?" He yelled.
"Yeah, I got you right where I want to." I said and he just looked at me confused.
Suddenly he got hit by the wrecking ball and that made him fall backwards to the ground almost like the first time I had defeated him.
I got back on my feet and I saw that Wilden was lying on his back barley conscious.
I walked towards him and heard him say between some heavy panting "I must get revenge... must find Batgirl... must find out... who she is..." Then he passed out.
"He used so much T-9 serum that he lost his memory, I warned him about that." I heard a voice behind me. I turn around and I saw Mr. Fitz standing right there.
"You have a lot of guts coming here, after what you said in that video." I said looking at my former English teacher.
"Relax, I'm a good guy, I'm C. I. A." He said and showed me his badge and it's looked real.
"I'm working as a double agent to take down A and that night when Wilden and I found out about this guy's knew your secret, I had to play along otherwise my cover would be blown and 10 years of C.I.A's work would have been thrown down the drain." He said, his story made sense and I could see in his eyes that he was telling me the truth.
"Ok, do you know A's location?" I asked.
"Not yet, but it's just a matter of time." Mr. Fitz answered me.
"When you do activate this. It's a homing beacon, when you find A, I will be there." I said and handed him a small bat shape figure.
As he looked on it, I flew away towards my home.
"Caleb we have won. Tomorrow you can do whatever you want, just do it together with Hanna to show her that you love her." I said over the Comm link and I heard Caleb wooing at the other end. This night had turned out better than I had thought.
A/N: and for those of you that reads frfush21's story you'll have to be patient for her next update she has a Health problem so you'll have to wait a bit longer for the next chapter, but I can promise all of you that it will be great.
