Chapter 34: The Worst Enemy
A/N: first of all a thank you to Me A Genius for surgesting the Paily moments and a special thank you to hglover15 for surgesting everything else.
And I'm sorry to tell this to you guys but I wont be updating in a while since I'll be very busy.
Emily's POV-
I was at the mall with Paige trying to find something for mother's day. I felt bad for Paige since she lost both her parents when she was young, but she didn't seem to mind following me around checking for things that my mom would like.
"What about this, is this something your mom would like?" Paige asks and hold a coffee cup that said world's best mom.
"No she already has like five of those and two were homemade." I said and Paige puts the cup back on the shelf.
We continued to walk around in the stores to find something that I could give my mom.
While we continued to search for something to get to my mom we see this little boy standing alone crying.
Paige walked up to him and sits down next to him.
"Hi, what's wrong?" Paige said to the kid.
"I can't find my mom." The boy said burying his face in his hands.
"Ok boy, don't cry we'll help you find them." Paige said and rubbed the kids arm.
"Hey kid, check this out." Paige said and did the old coin behind the ear trick and the kid just stopped crying.
Paige got back up and reached out to the kid and he grabbed her hand and we started to look after the kids' parents.
Seeing Paige acting like this around the kid was really cute and I wanted to see this side of Paige more often.
We found the kid's parents in a few minutes and before he left he ran to Paige and gave her a hug.
When the kid was gone I looked at Paige, smiling widely.
"What are you looking at Em?" Paige asked me.
"You" I said "When I saw how good you were with that kid it was just so cute."
"Well when this is over I want to have a family with children." Paige said.
"I want to have kids too, two of them. Just imagining them playing, laughing and imagining you goofing around with them." I said playfully shoving Paige.
"And then you'd have some competition since they babies would be cuter then you." Paige said and started to run and I came after her.
"You're going down McCullers." I said failing to suppress a smile.
"Then you'll have to run faster than that Emsy." Paige said back as I chased her.
Paige could really run fast I had hard to keep up with her.
"You'll have to move faster than that to keep up with our kids Emsy." Paige said.
"You're dead Paige." I said as we continued to run around the mall laughing.
Paige's POV-
It was late at night, me, Emily, Spencer, Caleb and Aria were in my mansion. I had told them that I was back as Batgirl and I wanted that to help me take down A.
Spencer and Caleb were more than happy to resume their roles as Robin and Oracle in the fight against A.
"Now first of all we need to find out what A's next move will be." I said.
"Wait you don't even know who A is. Not even since the strip club?" Aria asked frustrated.
"No that was just a dead end." I explained to Aria.
"What? So now you guys don't have any clue off who A is!" Aria shouted.
"Aria listen..." Spencer said but she got cut off by Aria.
"NO YOU GUYS LISTEN! YOU ARE THE ONE THAT ARE SUPPOSE TO STOP A BUT YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW WHO HE/SHE/IT IS. YOU GUYS HAVE TRIED TO STOP A FOR A LONG TIME BUT YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT A! NOTHING!" Aria yelled at all of us.
"AND YOU" Aria says and points to me. "YOU'VE FOUGHT A AND YOU LOST EXACTLY HOW CAN ANYONE TRUST THAT YOU CAN DEFEAT A IF YOU'VE ALREADY FOUGHT A AND LOST?" Aria asked glaring at all of us.
"Screw this I'm out of here." Aria said when no one of us could figure out any answers. She left my mansion very aggressive, she was like a small Hulk.
"Great what will we do about Aria?" Caleb asked.
"For now we'll let her cool of then we'll talk to her." Spencer said.
I understood what Spencer mean, right now there was nothing we could say or do to calm Aria down so it was smart to just give her some space for now.
We went to the Batcave and reactivated the computers to start chasing A.
We spent hours trying to find basically anything that would lead us to A but we made no results, it was like we chased a ghost.
The others went home but Emily stayed so we decided to do something different, we got some blankets and put them on the ground and just looked at the stars.
"Look over there! A falling star, make a wish Emily." I said and Emily closed her eyes.
"What did you wish for?" I asked her.
Emily turned to me and said. "What can I possibly ask for, I've got an amazing girlfriend who loves me." Emily said and leaned in for a quick kiss.
"I like this, just you and me and nothing to worry about." I said and kissed Emily again.
We stayed like that for the rest of the evening, we didn't say another word, we just leaned next to each other looking at the stars.
Later I opened my eyes, it was dawn, I must have fallen asleep. I was about to get back up I noticed that Emily was lying on top of me sound asleep. She looked peacefully so I didn't want to wake her up.
I just stroked her arm and placed a soft kiss on top of her head without waking her up, I wasn't in a rush to get up anyway.
I was waiting Emily sleeping, she was holding me like I was a teddy bear, I was amazingly blessed to have her it didn't matter if we were in a five star restaurant or lying next to me in my yard I would never get tired of being with her.
The next day:
I was in class, history wasn't my favorite subject so I just focused on getting the class over with. Once the class ended I couldn't get out of there fast enough. I walked to my locker to put away my books.
"Hi sweetie, I've missed you." I heard Emily's voice so I closed my locker and there she was.
"I've missed you too." I said and gave her a quick peck.
"Hey! Guys!" Hanna shouted as she came running towards us in the hallway. "Have you two seen Aria? I haven't seen her all day." Hanna said sounding exhausted.
"Hanna calm down, breath." Emily said.
"It's just Aria haven't been in class for the entire day and when I called her parents they said she didn't come home last night." Hanna said, sounding worried for Aria, but with A kidnapping people at nights who wouldn't be worried.
"She... she isn't here at school and... and she didn't come home last night. You know what that means she's... she's been kidnapped by A." Hanna said in panic.
"WHAT?" Emily and I shouted in unison.
"It's true, she didn't get home last night and no one has seen her here, not even Mr. Fitz." Spencer said as she walked up behind us.
This isn't good, both Emily and Hanna had been kidnapped by A before, I know that very well since I was the one that saved them, but I had more time to save them, Aria must have been kidnapped sometime last night which meant that time was running short maybe it was even too late... No Paige I couldn't think like that not now, not ever.
I nodded discreetly to Spencer and Emily showing that tonight we were going to find and save Aria.
Later that night:
Me, Caleb, Spencer and Emily was in the Bat cave. Spencer and Caleb were on the computers trying to find a recording of Aria and where she went after she had exited my mansion, While Emily and I tried to narrow down places were Aria could have gone after that she had left my mansion.
After hours of searching we had come up with nothing.
"Crap, this isn't good guys, we need to find something fast" Spencer said.
"Maybe if I hacked a satellite we could find some trace off Aria." Caleb suggested.
"Yeah but A probably have A way to hide from that too." Spencer said frustrated that she had found nothing off Aria's whereabouts and knew less.
"Both of you, continue to search for Aria I know that we'll find something that could lead us to her." Emily said to Spencer and Caleb. Her motivation to find Aria was very impressive.
Suddenly my cell phone started to ring, when I checked the caller ID I saw that it was Aria.
I answered the phone and I heard Aria's voice. "Listen whoever this is, please help me." I put the phone on speaker and told Caleb and Spencer to trace the signal.
"I'm kidnapped by A and I don't know where I am. Someone anyone please help." Aria said over the phone as I heard that I was starting to lose the signal.
"Did you guys get what we needed?" I asked and Caleb and Spencer nodded and showed me where the signal come from, me and Caleb were already wearing our suits so we ran towards the location where we had traced Aria's phone.
When we reached the location where we had traced the Aria cell phone it was a dark alley, what a cliché.
We walked in the alley hoping that Aria still would be there.
We kept searching for Aria or anything that would lead us to Aria when suddenly a dark figure appears from nowhere and kicks Robin in his head so he falls to the ground, I look at the figure she was wearing a dark jacket black tights, a cape and a pair of fingerless gloves. I couldn't make out the face since it was too dark to see anything from the neck up.
"Well look at this, the flying rodent and the bird brain right where I want them." I heard a voice. I looked to a balcony and it was A standing there.
"A! Are you here for round two?" I said as Robin got back up.
A just laughed and said, "I have other plans than wasting a punch on the two of you."
"Enough of this bull shit! Where is Aria?" Robin asked.
"Well isn't this sweet you care for her, well how about a reunion." A said and snapped her fingers, the dark figure walked into the light and I couldn't believe my eyes It was Aria, she looked like she had been brainwashed her eyes had an empty stare.
"Kill." A said and Aria's eyes went from being empty to look angry and she started to snarl before she came running at me and Robin with the speed of a cheetah.
She jumped over both me and Robin and landed behind me, I threw a right hook towards her but she just dodged it with cat like agility and before I had time to react she kicked me to the side of my head so I fell to the ground. Robin stepped up between me and Aria holding his staff with both his hands.
She ran towards Robin, he swung his staff but missed, Aria grabbed Robin's right arm and punched his forearm so hard she broke it, then she pushed him to the ground and started to kick him in his chest while he was down.
I got back up and tackled Aria of Robin before she killed him. She throws a punch towards me that I dodged and I hit her with an uppercut that made her take three steps back.
"Aria I don't want to hurt you!" I shouted at her. She just sneered at me and charged again, I threw a right hook towards her but she avoided it and then she picked up a stone that was on the ground and hit me with it right by my right eye, I felt my eye throb from the heat so I lost all my focus. Then Aria grabbed me by the throat starting to choke me. I struggled to break her grip, but I was too weak to break Aria's hold. I felt my body giving up and I felt my eyes closing.
"ARIA STOP!" Someone shouted. Aria dropped me.
I landed on the ground, coughing from the choking and I felt my right eye throbbing.
I looked to were the shouting had come from, Mr. Fitz was standing there, Aria was walking towards him, it looked like she had calmed down.
"Ezra?" she said walking towards Mr. Fitz. Mr. Fitz nodded as she walked into his arms hugging him, Mr. Fitz stroked her hair as he held her "It will be alright Aria." he said but then Aria screamed angrily and broke away from his hug.
Aria had stabbed Mr. Fitz in his leg and he was in serious pain right now.
"How does it feel? How does it feel to be betrayed? Not good right?" Aria yelled to Mr. Fitz. "You betrayed A and you still get to live, that's not right." Aria continued and grabbed her knife. "Well, let's see if I can correct that error."
But before Aria was about to cut Mr. Fitz I saw a smoke pellet that blinded her temporary, then Robin and I got up, I grabbed Mr. Fitz and we escaped to the Bat cave.
Once we were back there everyone was shocked, I removed my mask and Emily looked at me worried.
"What is it Em?" I asked.
"Your eye it's... I'll just go and get you some ice" Emily said and then she disappeared upstairs.
Spencer was standing to Caleb, he was in worse shape than both me and Mr. Fitz.
I turned to Mr. Fitz. I know I was unmasked and he saw who I was but he didn't seem to care.
"Here" Emily said and handed me an ice bag that I pressed towards my throbbing eye.
"Hey! Over here!" Spencer shouted. "It's Caleb, his right arm is broken and I think he also has some broken ribs, we need to get him to a hospital." Spencer said.
Since Caleb was still in his suite we had to cut it off since the hospital staff couldn't know that he was Robin.
The entire time we were in the Bat cave, Mr. Fitz didn't move he just sat down and looked at the ground.
"What are we going to do about him?" Emily asked and nodded towards Mr. Fitz.
"I don't know, he just lost the one he loves to A, I have seriously no idea of what to do." I answered and looked at Mr. Fitz who now was drinking from a bottle of scotch.
