Chapter 36: One Good Thing

Paige's Pov-

I couldn't believe it, A had turned the town against me, I had sent night after night defending the innocent from A and after only one night A had convinced the entire town that I'm the enemy.

The video had ruined Batgirls life... it had ruined my life.

I was angry beyond words, every time I walked by a newspaper stand I saw that all the headlines said that Batgirl was the towns enemy, every time I was walking around town I saw police officers hanging up posters that declared Batgirl a threat to the public.

What bothered me the most was that Emily would probably hate me now that I was declared the evil person.

I spent the last few days in my mansion trying to figure out a way to clear Batgirl's name, but I couldn't find out anything that could help me, after seeing that video off me had made everyone in Rosewood afraid of Batgirl maybe even more than A.

Fear had always been my best weapon but now it was used against me and I didn't know what to do to make everything alright again.

I got out of my mansion and went to the hospital for a visit. I grabbed my jacket and walked out through the door. It was a dark and cloudy day, but it didn't seem to be any rain.

I walked slowly to the hospital. On the way I heard some people talk about Batgirl, they all thought that she was evil ever since day one and that locking up all of A's men was just a trick to make her seem trust worthy. Hearing them talking like that about Batgirl make me want to scream, but I didn't it wouldn't be smart for me to defend Batgirl since then I might reveal myself with would make it that much easier to arrest me or worse have A finding me.

I just kept walking until I reached the hospital where I asked after Rivers and a nurse showed ne to Caleb's room.

I walked inside and saw Caleb sitting on the bed trying to watch some TV. His right arm was in a cast and I could see that there was a lot of bandages around his ribs.

"Hi Paige." He said as I closed the door.

"Hi Caleb, I wanted to make sure that you were alright." I said as I sat down on a chair next to the bed.

"I heard the news. It sucks that all trust that you have earned has just disappeared after one night." Caleb said.

"Yeah, A tricked me and now everyone thinks that I'm the enemy, they don't seem to care about A being the biggest threat." I said as Caleb adjusted himself in his bed.

"What will you do now?" Caleb asked me.

"I'll still be Batgirl, but now I have to be very discreet when I'm patrolling since if anyone sees me they'll either call the police or try to attack me." I said looking at Caleb "If you want to stop being Robin I don't blame you."

"Paige, being Robin is part of my life now, I'll rest, heal and then once I'm fully recovered I will be by your side to fight A and prove that we are the good guys." Caleb said.

"I'm glad that I've at least got you since it's almost no one that trusts Batgirl anymore." I said giving Caleb a smile.

"Really? How did Emily react to what you did?" Caleb asked me and I panicked.

"I haven't really talked to Emily about that night." I said.

Caleb reached over and patted my head with his left hand. "Don't worry Paige, Emily is the most forgiving girl there is, asides from A she doesn't hate anyone." Caleb said and I almost started to cry since I started to think that I wasn't good enough for Emily. Emily was just so sweet and loving while I on the other hand had like a monster inside me that I sometimes released when I were in fight since that made me motivated to not back down.

I stayed with Caleb and just talked about everything and nothing until a nurse came in and told me that Caleb had to rest so I had to go.

I decided to get some lunch to eat and then go home, but once I was next to the Chinese place I felt a hand grabbing my shoulder, I turned around and saw Emily standing there looking at me with her brown eyes.

"Emily, listen about that night where I attacked..." I said but Emily put her finger over my lips.

"You don't have to tell me anything Paige. Spencer has already told me that you got tricked by A." Emily said as she kept looking at me with her lovely eyes.

"I know that you'd never intentionally do anything that would hurt anyone innocent." Emily continued as she removed her finger from my lips.

Emily's Pov-

I saw in Paige's eyes that she was blaming herself for letting Jason trick her into doing A's dirty work.

"Listen Paige you are a hero and once everyone remembers that they will know that A is the one to blame about everything." I said.

Paige looked back at me and said "I just want it to be now rather than sooner."

I grabbed Paige's hand and gave it a few tugs so she would walk with me, once she started to move I begin to run but I didn't let go of Paige's hand so she had to run after me.

"Where are we going Em?" Paige asked.

"We are heading home to me!" I answered her.

I continued to run with her hand in mine until we reached my home.

"Why the rush to get here?" Paige asked.

"I don't want to waste time packing." I answered.

"Packing for what?" Paige asked wondering what I had in mind.

"We're going to a place I know where there is a nice lake and now it seems to get sunny outside." I said as we went inside and started to pack some bikinis for me and Paige then I went downstairs and packed a lunch for the two off us since I was planning to stay there for as long as the weather was fine.

Once I was done packing our stuffs we went to my car and I started to drive to the lake.

"So, why the sudden interest in swimming?" Paige asked as I drove towards the lake.

"Several reasons, you looked like you need a break and when me and my friends play at that that lake we always return in a great mood, I'll take any excuse to hang with you and you look good in a bikini." I answered.

We continued to sit in comfort silence as I drove to the lake, every time I looked at Paige. She looked like she had a lot on her mind so I could tell that she needed to get distracted even if it was just for one day.

Right now I made a personal goal to make Paige forget everything and just be happy.

We reached the lake and a parked the car close to the road and we both went out of the car and we looked at the lake, Paige seemed to like she liked the view.

"Here." I said as I handed her one of my bikinis, she accepted it and went to change, as she disappeared I took out my other bikini and changed into it. Once I was in my bikini I saw Paige walking towards me, in the bikini I had given to her.

"You look good." Paige said as I locked the car.

"You look hot." I said as I saw how the sun made Paige's creamy skin so it looked like she was glittering.

I kissed Paige on her lips before I took her hand and we ran right into the lake were we both swam together and I could see her forgetting all her concerns and actually enjoy herself as we swam in the lake.

It was great to see Paige having fun. We swam, raced and splashed water at each other.

After a few minutes Paige stood up at the shallow end and walked up to me with a smile.

"Are you ok?" I asked her.

"Just a little hungry." Paige answered.

"Ok, let's get back to the car, the towels I brought to dry ourselves and then we can eat." I said and we went back to the car that I unlocked. I opened the trunk and gave Paige one towel and then I took the other and started to dry myself.

Then once we were dry I took out the food that I had packed earlier. Since I didn't bring a blanket to sit on we sat in the car.

I sat in the driver's seat and Paige sat on the passenger seat. She smiled as she took a bite from one of the sandwiches that I had packed.

"I like it here." Paige said.

"I and my friends spend a lot of time here whenever we have the time." I answered.

"I understand why, this place is great, maybe I should pay for a lake house someday and then we don't have to drive all the way back home when it gets too could or dark." Paige said as she reached to one off the straps to her (well my) bikini top.

"Is everything alright?" I asked.

"Yeah, it's just... this top is a bit tight. What size is it?" Paige asked.

"It's 32 B." I answered.

"Well that explains it, my size is 30 C." Paige answered.

"If it's too tight you can take it off its nothing I haven't seen before." I joked at Paige and we both laughed.

After a while we had eaten all the food, but it was still lovely weather so we went back in the lake for another swim.

It was funny to play together with Paige, no one could guess it but she did have a childish and funny side.

"Hey, Paige! Could you come over here?" I asked and Paige swam up to me.

"What is it?" She asked.

"I have a surprise for you. Close your eyes." I said and Paige did it without hesitating for one second, she really trusted me which made me feel a little bad for what I was about to do.

I splashed water on her face which she didn't seem to expect.

I started to swim away from her as I heard her yell "Emily Fields! Get over here right now!"

I started to swim as fast as I could to avoid Paige, I wanted her to chase me, I was in my element so I didn't have to worry about Paige catching me, she maybe was fast in the water, but I was faster.

I heard splashing behind me so I could tell that Paige was chasing me so I swam faster and closer to the deep end so I would have plenty of space between me and Paige, it was really funny since I knew she had stop being med at me about four seconds after I started to swim away from her, suddenly I noticed that the splashing had stopped, I turned around but I couldn't see Paige anywhere. I had no idea of what had happened she was behind me a few seconds ago and now she was just gone.

I panicked and started to look as far as I could see hoping that Paige hadn't exhausted herself and drowned when she chased me.

"Paige! PAIGE! PAAAAAAAIGE!" I yelled as I swam towards the more shallow parts of the lake trying to find out were Paige could be. From out of nowhere I felt a pair of hand grabbing my waist and before I had any time to react I got pulled down under the water, the hands let go of me and I swam back up to the surface and took a deep breath.

Then I heard laughter, it was from Paige, she had swum under the water to sneak up on me which she succeeded with.

"Paige! You scared me half to death!" I said to her.

"That's what you get when you splash water on me." Paige said back.

"You are nuts." I said and Paige just laughed and I gave her a shove. "Laugh it up you dork."

"That's maybe true, but I'm your dork." Paige said and we kissed, it was supposed to be a small peck on the lips but we got caught up and it got passionate as our tongues danced the dance that we both had perfected. She had her one hand on my waist and her other hand on my back while I had my left hand on her back and I cupped the back off her head with my right hand. We both started to sink in the lake but we didn't care we just continued the kiss as our bodies sank under the surface and we slowly moved to the bottom it was impossible to explain the feeling but I almost wished that we could breathe under water.

Once we were out of air we broke the kiss and we both returned to the surface and we took a deep breath.

"Wow that was amazing." I said.

"Yeah, with you noting is just good." Paige said.

"It's getting dark we maybe should go home." I suggested and Paige agreed.

We both got back up from the water and dried ourselves before we got dressed and then we got back in the car and I drove home to my place.

"Thank you Em, I can't explain how much I needed that." Paige said.

"Anytime, Paige." I said and kissed her cheek followed by looking back at the road so we wouldn't be in a car accident.

"I love you so much." Paige said with a big smile.

"I love you to."

"Do you want to spend the night at my place?" I asked out of the blue.

"I mean it must be lonely in the big empty mansion and I'd like to wake up next to you." I said trying to not sound so worried.

"I'd love to spend the night at your place." Paige said and then I got much calmer.

We reached my house and once we entered my mom walked up to us and greeted us both.

"Hi sweetie, hi Paige how was your time at the lake?" My mom asked.

"We had fun." I said and Paige nodded agreeing with me.

"Well I had a long day, now there is a bounty on Batgirl for ten million dollars so the entire police force seems to be on the look for Batgirl instead of focusing on the real threat." My mom said as she hugged the both off us.

"Do you think Batgirl is evil?" I asked my mom

"I'm not sure I mean A has tricked the town before, but right now I'll focus on the other crimes instead off Batgirl." She answered. I knew that Paige wouldn't care what anyone thought of Batgirl, but I did.

"Well let's get to the dinner table I've made meatloaf and there is enough for more than the two off us." Mom said.

We sat down and eat the dinner and I told my mom that Paige would spend the night here and she was cool with it, I was very happy that she trusted Paige enough to let her share bed with me.

After dinner we both went to my room, I gave Paige a T-shirt and a pair of boxer shorts that she could sleep with.

She got dressed for bed in my bathroom while I got dressed in my room, since it would be more awkward if my mom would walk in on us both undressing at the same time.

Once I was ready for bed I put one of my blue hoodies on the floor and then I went to my bed waiting for Paige to come out from my bathroom.

Once she did she walked towards me slowly and she looked unsure.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"It's nothing... it's just this is the first time I spend the night with you in your bed I've never done that before." Paige said.

"Don't worry we can cuddle without my mom throwing you out" I said and Paige got her confident back.

"And Paige can you do one thing before you come here?" I asked "Can you please pick up my hoodie it fell to the floor earlier? It's right behind you" I asked and Paige turned around to see my hoodie and she bent down to pick it up. "Nice ass, now I'm happy that I gave you those boxers." I said and Paige turned to me.

"You put that hoodie there on purpose." She said failing to hide a smile.

"You can't prove anything." I said raising my hands in defense.

"Now I wonder who the dork is." Paige said and sat down on my bed so I move the cover and let her crawl in. She laid in my bed with her eyes looking into mine, I wrapped my arms around her to pull her in closer.

"Goodnight my love." Paige said.

"Goodnight my everything" I said and planted a soft kiss to Paige's lips before we both fell asleep.
