Vacation Time
After only three hours of sleep I woke up and got dressed quickly, leaving Bella wrapped up in the comforter. I loaded the car with our suitcase and Olly and Eliza's before waking Eliza up.
"Eliza, you need to get dressed, we need to leave in half an hour."
"Mmmmm."
"Come on Eliza. I need to get Olly up still."
"Okay. I'm up."
"Thanks Eliza. Grab some breakfast. It will be a while before you get a chance to eat again."
"Okay. Thank you Edward."
"No thank yous. We don't have time."
"Fine."
"Thank you."
"Hypocrite."
I ignored her as I ran up the stairs to Olly's room and shook him awake.
"Olly. Wake up."
"Daddy?"
"Yes Olly."
"I'm awake."
"Can you open your eyes then?"
"No."
"Why not?"
"I want to know where we're going."
"Well you won't find out unless you get up."
"I won't get up unless you tell me."
"I'll tell you if you promise not to tell anyone else. It will be our little secret."
"I promise daddy."
"We're going to our own island."
"Really?"
"Really. It was a present for your momma and I when we got married. No one knows about it but us. You won't tell anyone will you."
"No I won't daddy. It will be our secret."
"Thank you Olly. Now will you get up."
"Yes daddy."
"Good boy. Do you want me to help or can you do it yourself?"
"I can do it myself."
"Okay Olly. Come down for breakfast when you're ready."
"I will. Thank you daddy."
I left him to get ready, running down the stairs and getting some bowls and spoons out for breakfast.
"Morning Eliza. You look nice today."
"Thanks Edward."
"Here's your breakfast. Olly will be down in a minute then we'll set of in ten minutes."
"Where's Bella?"
"Asleep. She couldn't sleep last night so I left her asleep, I'll put her in the car when we leave. The cases are already in the car. If there's anything else you want to bring, find a rucksack and bring that. You may want something to do on the flight."
"I'll bring my new laptop then. Thank you so much for that."
"You needed it."
"Eliza."
"Morning Olly. How are you?"
"Excited."
"Are you now Olly?"
"Yeah. Daddy told me where we are going."
"Will you tell me?"
"No. It's a secret. You have to wait to find out."
"But I'm your sister Olly."
"I made a promise Eliza. A promise to daddy. I can't break it."
"Okay Olly. I guess I'll wait."
"We're going to an island!"
"Olly. You promised you wouldn't tell anyone, not even Eliza."
"Sorry daddy."
"Don't worry Olly. Just don't tell the others. Momma and I have worked really hard not to tell them."
"I promise daddy. I just had to tell Eliza, she's my sister."
"I know Olly, don't worry. Eat up you're breakfast and we'll go. I'm going to get momma ready."
I put a bowl in front of Olly and ran up the stairs to Bella. Kissing her neck, I picked her up and carried her into the bathroom. I gave her a quick wash and pulled some clothes onto her. I went for shorts as it would be hot when we land in Rio and don't want her over-heating. Wrapping her into a jacket, I grabbed her rucksack she'd packed and carried her downstairs, lying her on the couch.
"Why's momma sleeping?"
"She's very tired Olly. She couldn't sleep last night and I think it would be best to leave her to sleep, don't you Olly?"
"Okay. She looks really pretty sleeping."
"She does, doesn't she Olly?"
He ran over to her and kissed her forehead before running over to me and jumping into my arms.
"Have you finished your breakfast Olly?"
"Yes, thank you daddy."
"Are you ready to go?"
"Yes. I'm going to miss this place."
"We'll be back in a week and a half. We aren't going forever."
"Good. I like it here."
"You and Eliza get to stay forever. Or until you are old enough to have your own place."
"I don't ever want to leave."
"I think you'll change your mind when you're older."
He didn't reply but gave me a look that said not to argue with him.
"Are you ready Eliza?"
"Yeah."
"Why don't you get Olly into the car and I'll get Bella in the car?"
"Will do. Olly come over here."
He ran over to Eliza and jumped into her arms. I walked over to Bella and lifted her into my arms and placed her on my lap.
"Wake up Bella. We need to go."
She placed her hand on my chest as she started muttering something.
"What's that baby?"
"I'm tired."
"You're tired?"
"Yeah."
"I know you are baby. Can you tell me what you are taking and I'll put it in the car for you?"
"Just my bag."
"You're bag is in the car baby. What shoes were you going to wear today?"
"Just my converse."
"Okay baby. Do you want to get some more sleep?"
"I'm cold."
"Sorry baby. Let me wrap you up."
I grabbed a blanket and wrapped it round her shoulders.
"You'll warm up soon baby."
"Love you."
"I love you too baby. Go back to sleep."
"Mmmmmmmm."
I kissed her forehead and rocked her back and forth, her hand falling off my chest. Lifting her into my arms, I carried her to the car and strapped her in. After gathering the last things up, I locked the house and climbed into the car. The roads were clear but very slippery. It took an hour and a half to get to the airport in Seattle as we had to drive slowly. I lifted Bella into my arms and threw the blanket of her shoulders.
"Bella you need to get up now. We're at the airport."
"Okay."
She turned her head up to me and gave me a cute, little smile, not opening her eyes.
"How are your legs baby?"
"Killing."
"That bad?"
"Yeah."
"Do you want me to get you a wheelchair?"
"Could you?"
"Sure. I'm sure it won't be a problem."
"Thank you."
"You have to open your eyes first though baby."
She groaned as she turned her head into my chest and groaned.
"Come on baby. She me those beautiful brown eyes."
She rubbed her eyes and fluttered them open.
"There you go baby. Wait here and I'll see what I can do."
I placed her back on the car seat as she wrapped her arms around my neck and kissed my lips.
"Okay."
Turning around I saw a worried Eliza holding Olly in her arms. I pulled them into a hug.
"Don't worry so much Eliza. Bella's alright, her legs are just really sore. It's nothing serious okay?"
"Okay."
"Listen if it was something serious I'd tell you."
"I know. I just worry."
"I'm going to see if I can get a wheelchair for Bella; it's nothing serious, stay here."
"We will."
Kissing each of their heads, I let go of them and ran inside the airport to the help desk.
"Hello sir, what can I do for you?"
"Hi, my family and I have a flight at half seven this morning. My wife was in an accident a few weeks ago and can't walk this morning. Would you be able to get a wheelchair for her?"
"Of course. Give me a moment and I can sort that out for you. Which flight is it you are on?"
"The half seven to Rio."
"Okay, I can have your tickets printed off if you want?"
"That would be great thanks."
"What are the names?"
"Cullen. If you type that in there should be ten names with that."
"Big family."
"All adopted but one."
"That's a lot of kids you've taken on."
"No, four of them are my brothers and sisters, then there's my mom and dad, my wife and our two adopted kids."
"Still a big family."
She typed something into the computer and clicked a button.
"Here you go Mr Cullen. Tie this to your wife's wrist and you can collect a wheelchair from the entrance."
"Thank you for your help."
I smiled at her and went back to the car, taking a wheelchair with me.
"Hey guys."
"Morning son. How are you this morning?"
"Good. How are you mom?"
"Tired but excited."
"As soon as the others get here we can go through security; I have the tickets on me."
"Alice texted me to say she was going to be another five minutes. Rose and Emmett are with them."
"Okay."
"How's Bella doing? She hasn't said much."
"She's just really tired. She couldn't sleep last night even though she was really tired. I don't know why."
"She'll be alright. Make sure she gets plenty of rest."
"I will mom. Why don't we go inside? It's cold out here."
"Good idea. I'll take the others inside."
"Thanks mom."
She went over to Olly, Eliza, Carlisle and Bella and went inside with them. I wrapped my arms around Bella and lifted her into the wheelchair.
"You comfy baby?"
"Yeah. Come here."
I leant down as she wrapped one arm around my neck and pulled my lips to hers.
"Thank you."
"No problem baby."
Collecting the suitcases from the car, I put one on the back of the wheelchair and placed the other on Bella's lap.
"Come on baby. Let's go to Rio."
"I can't wait."
We waited for the others to arrive before making our way through security, to the waiting area. Eventually, we got on our plane, ready for take-off in the first class seats.
"You alright baby?"
"Yeah. I feel a little sick."
"I'm sorry baby. Come here. Tell me if you're gonna be sick."
"Mmmmm."
She scooched over so she was sitting as close as she was gonna get and leaned her head on my shoulder. I placed my arm around her shoulder and rubbed her arm soothingly.
"It's probably your morning sickness baby. Don't worry about it."
"I know. I just feel dreadful."
"It will be alright baby. Only eight months to go."
"Fun."
She sarcastically droned. I kissed her forehead as she leaned into me.
"I'm gonna be sick."
"Okay baby."
I grabbed one of those bags and held it out to her. She took it into her shaky hands and threw up into it. I rubbed her back as she wiped her mouth of with a tissue.
"You're alright baby. I got you."
"Sorry honey."
"It's okay baby. Not your fault. You alright now."
"I will be in a minute."
"Do you want to give me that baby?"
"No. It's okay. I've got a plastic bag."
She grabbed a bag from the seat pocket and placed the sick bag into it and tied it in a not.
"I'm alright now."
"You sure baby?"
"Yeah. Just had to get that out."
"I know baby. When we've taken off, you can go brush your teeth."
"Thank god. I am not sitting here all flight with this disgusting breath."
"And I'm not kissing you until you have."
"No fair. You did cause this."
"I thought we caused this baby. Not me."
"We did. But right now, I'm blaming you."
"But you wouldn't have it any other way."
"Nope. Anyway, I'm hoping my morning sickness is going to stop in a few weeks. It's one of the things that happened with my mom and her mom. It came back after a month."
"So when you stop throwing up in the morning I shouldn't be worried?"
"No. It's normal for my family."
"What else should I expect baby?"
"My mom had back problems. I think she fractured her back at one point. It wasn't severe or anything but it still hurt her."
"Will that happen to you baby?"
"I don't think so but it could. I don't know."
"Are you scared baby?"
"Yeah."
"Don't be scared baby. I'll look after you and Carlisle will be there if you ever need anything. No one is going to risk you or this baby. You know Esme and Charlie would have you in a wheelchair every day if it wasn't for you needing to get better again. I promise that even if something bad happens you will be alright."
"What about the baby?"
"You are more important than this baby Bella. We can always try again anyway. I know you want our own baby, but we have Eliza and Olly and can always adopt again if you want. I'll do everything I can though to keep our baby and you safe."
I placed my lips to her head as a tear fell from her eye. She sat back in her seat and tightened her seat belt as we started to take off. Once cruising, the seat belt sign went off and I helped Bella up; walking with her to the bathroom.
"You okay baby?"
"Yeah. My legs still hurt though."
"I'm sorry baby."
I held her up as she brushed her teeth thoroughly.
"Is that better now baby?"
"Yeah. Thank you honey."
She turned her head round to mine and pulled my lips to hers; her hand tangling in my hair.
"I love you."
"I love you too Bella. Come on let's sit down."
Helping her back to the seats, I pulled her onto my lap, wrapping my arms around her waist.
"Is there anything else that you're scared about baby?"
"My mom and both my grandma's would always feel tired but got little sleep. I guess that's probably what happened last night."
"I'm sorry baby. I'll be there through it all for you. I love you."
"I love you too."
I gave her one of my crooked smiles and scraped her hair out of her face. We stared into each other's eyes for a while longer before I placed my lips to hers. She then lay her head onto my shoulder as I rubbed circles on her stomach.
"Try and get some sleep baby. I've got you."
"Okay. I love you."
"I love you too baby."
I kissed her forehead and held her to me as she fell asleep. The flight went by quickly as the others moved about sitting next to me and Bella. She didn't wake up once throughout the flight. When the seat belt sign came back on I placed her in her own seat and did her belt up.
We spent the holiday as a family in the sun and had some time alone together as well. After a day of sleep, Bella felt like normal but still had her morning sickness. I couldn't have asked for a better Christmas holiday.
