Chapter 48: Where Are You?

A/n: I know it's been a while but here is the newest chapter to Paige The Dark Knight. Sorry it took so long I've started on a new fanfic called "Trapped on an Island" and then I forgot about this story but here is the latest chapter I hope you'll enjoy it.

Emily's Pov-

After Caleb said that I was filled with a lot of emotions at once, I excused myself and went into the kitchen and looked out the window.

I looked out the window and saw that it started to rain, it was 23:29 and now I was more confused than ever.

I held the Bat rang in my hand and stroked it with my thumb. I wanted to believe that it was Paige but something inside me said it was impossible. I didn't knew anything anymore at first I was sure Paige was dead but now she might be a live or someone else is pretending to be Batgirl, I didn't know, I wanted to know but… I just needed answers now.

"Spencer called your mom and told her you'd be spending the night at her place." I heard Toby's voice say.

"Thanks." I said avoiding eye contact.

"Something troubling you?" Toby asked.

"I'm confused. Up until a few minutes ago I was sure Paige was dead and now I think she's alive." I said.

"Well that's good news, right?" Toby asked.

"If she is alive yes, but now I'm not sure. I mean I got a sign that Paige might be alive I should be happy but I'm not, I don't know what to feel I'm just… confused." I said.

"You're just conflicted." Toby answered and then he hugged me.

I wanted to know the truth was Paige alive or dead, for now all I could do was wait until dawn then it'd be safe to stay outside and then I could check the spot where I was saved earlier, I knew it wasn't much but it was at least something.

After a few minutes Toby broke the hug "I have to go back to Spencer." He said.

I nodded and Toby left the room, when I was by myself I noticed that I was tired. I felt like I was going to pass out on the spot, I'm surprised Caleb has managed to stay up this late most nights and still stay awake the next morning.

"Emily? Is everything ok?" I heard Hanna ask.

"I'm tired." I answered.

"Ok, let me get you to a bedroom." Hanna said and placed an Arm around me to help me stand up.

"Where are the beds?" Hanna asked.

"The guestrooms are upstairs." I answered and Hanna helped me to get up the stairs.

"Ok, let's check this room." Hanna said and was about to open the door to one of the bedrooms.

"NO! Not that room." I said as Hanna reached for the door handle.

"What's wrong whit this room?" Hanna asked confused.

"I can't go in there, its Paige's room." I answered.

Hanna backed away from the door and checked another room.

"Here, this room has a bed." Hanna said and helped me to bed.

"Goodnight." Hanna said and walked out from the room.

I took of my shirt and my pants before I crawled into the bed, once I placed my head on the pillow I looked up at the roof thinking about Paige one final time before I closed my eyes and drifted into sleep.

The next morning:

I woke up in the bed and for a moment I had forgotten that Paige wasn't here. I rolled over just to see that Paige wasn't next to me. I slowly sat up in the bed and rubbed my eyes before I got out of the bed. I didn't felt like going to school today, I wanted to go back to the alley from last night to find out who was saving me.

I got dressed and went downstairs to find that everyone else had left, I checked my phone to find a text message that said that the others had left for school and they didn't wanted to wake me up and that they were going to tell the teachers that I was sick.

Good, then I wouldn't get in any trouble for not being in class.

I put the phone in my pocket and walked out the front door since it was too hard for me to stay in Paige's mansion much longer, it brought up too many painful memories.

I walked down the street at a slow pace struggling to not look back as I left Paige's mansion, I knew that Paige wasn't there but it felt like if I'd look I'd see Paige through one of the windows. I kept walking towards the alley from last night to see if there was something that could tell me who it was that saved me from A's henchmen.

After a walk that felt like forever I got to the alley, I knew it was a shot in the dark but if there was something that could prove to me that Paige still was alive I knew I had to take that shot.

I entered the alley and tried to remember exactly where everyone had been.

I took a few steps to narrow down where the two henchmen had stood when they got attacked. "Ok, so the attacker came either from behind or glided down from a roof," I thought and then I took out the bat rang from my pocket and held it like I was about to throw it. "The bat rang landed right in front of where I was hiding so the throw was either curved or it bounced from its first target and landed there by accident." I kept thinking as I turned around. "Whoever saved me ran that way and disappeared when I got out of the alley so whoever it was must have been very fast or must have used a grappling hook to get to the roof." I thought and ran out of the alley.

But where did he or she go after that was the big question, when I turned around I could see a girl with auburn hair and she had a creamy skin color and a brown skin jacket.

"Paige?" I said and ran up to her. "Paige I can't believe…" I said and the girl turned around and I saw that it wasn't Paige.

"Oh, sorry I thought you were someone else." I said and the girl just shrugged and started to walk.

"I guess you'll never get over Paige." I heard a voice. I turned around and saw Caleb standing there.

"What are you doing here?" I asked.

"After you showed me that bat rang I started to think that Paige might still be alive, so I'm looking for clues." Caleb said. I was very surprised hearing that since I thought everyone else was too busy with their own problems.

"Did you find anything?" I asked.

"No, and I don't have any of my Robin gear or the bat computer so I've been searching for clues the old fashion way." Caleb said.

"Have you checked the roofs? Paige usually attack from a high vantage point." I said and Caleb just shook his head.

"It's hard to get to the roof without my grappling hook or my other gear." Caleb continued.

"You've gotten soft from not being Robin anymore baby." Hanna said as she walked up to Caleb and punched his arm.

"Are you here to?" I said surprised to see Hanna.

"Who do you think convinced me to play Sherlock Holms?" Caleb said.

"Hey I was the one that talked you into searching, I'm Sherlock and you're Watson." Hanna said.

"And who do I count as." A voice behind me said and Ezra and Aria was standing behind me.

"Hanna told you guys to?" I asked.

"She told everyone." Aria said and pointed to the roof where Toby and Spencer where standing searching for something.

"How did they get up there?" I asked.

"The fire escape." Ezra answered and Hanna looked at Caleb who smacked his own forehead.

We all kept searching the area but how much we tried we couldn't find anything it was like last night never happened.

We all gathered at a bus stop that was close by.

"Wouldn't it be easier to use bat computer?" Aria asked.

"Yeah but the bat cave is in lockdown and we need Paige's fingerprint to open it." Spencer said.

"But you guys where helping Paige wouldn't you fingerprints be enough to open it?" Toby asked and looked to Spencer and Caleb.

"We have already tried but it wouldn't work, Paige is the one and only who can open it now." Spencer said.

"What about hacking it?" Ezra asked.

"Already tried but the firewall was too much even for me." Caleb said. "I thought I was close but then my computer crashed so I gave up after that." Caleb said.

"So it's like hacking into pentagon." Hanna said and sigh.

"What are we going to do now?" Toby asked.

Then everyone was talking about what to do and I was in my own thoughts, where would Paige be if she was alive, where?

"Come on guys, we'll start a new search tomorrow. It doesn't matter that we didn't found anything today we'll just keep looking until we find something that can help us." Ezra said.

"Now who's…?" Suddenly Ezra fell to the ground and he had a dart in his neck.

"EZRA!" Aria shouted and ran up to him.

We all looked up and saw the Joker and a few of his henchmen standing there holding rifles.

"Well well well, the sun is down, now the hunt starts." The Joker said and fired his gun, this time he hit Hanna and she fell to the ground.

I started to run trying to escape, I lost sight from all the others I just kept running trying to escape with my life.

"Don't let them escape!" I heard The Joker shout but I was too scared to stop I just ran hoping to shake them.

I had no idea what I was going to do this time. I started to run to Paige's mansion it was the only place where I felt I could be safe, I hated to leave my friend but I knew there was nothing I could do against those guys, I wasn't brave, I wasn't strong, I wasn't… I wasn't Paige.

Paige where are you? I didn't know what to do I just prayed that something would happened, that someone would find me, but it felt like help was a luxury I couldn't afford.

I dashed to Paige's mansion as fast as I could hearing the henchmen hunting down my friends like wild animals. I reached the door and quickly tore it open before slamming it shut behind my back.

"Well, this isn't much of a surprise." I head a familiar voice say, I turned around and saw Harley Quinn standing in the other end of the hallway pointing a gun at me.

"When are you people going to get it, the bat is dead! She died in that plane and that pathetic excuse for a replacement who save you last night guess what, we found and killed her." Harley said walking towards me pointing her gun at me.

"Don't worry about this, it's just an anesthetic gun, it won't kill you, but Anarky might kill you once he gets you and all of your friends." She continued.

"Mona, listen to me…" I said but she screamed like a lunatic.

"Stop calling me that I'm Harley Quinn now!" She said and I discreetly reached into my back pocket and grabbed the bat rang."

"Hands up bitch." Mona said and I did as she told me making sure the bat rang was hidden in my sleeve.

"We have caught all your friends and now it's just you left, your girlfriend is lucky that she leaved town when she did." Mona said and took a few steps closer to me.

"Did you enjoy the sunny day, I hope you did, because you won't live to see your next dawn!" She said and started to slowly squeeze the trigger. I wasn't thinking I just acted, I threw the bat rang just like I had seen Paige do it and it hit Mona's hand making her drop the gun on the floor.

I quickly ran up and kicked away the gun but Mona suddenly tackled me to the ground and grabbed my throat trying to strangle me.

"You bitch, that was a stupid move." She said and I felt how I drifted away as her grip tightened around my throat, I grabbed her wrists and struggled to pry her hands of me but she was strong for being so short.

I eventually lost my grip and as I started to pass out I reached and grabbed a boot that I hit Mona right on the side of her head, she lost her grip of my throat and fell of me, I took a few deep breaths before I forced myself back up and started to run with Mona chasing me.

"I'll rip off your face!" I heard her shout in fury, I didn't knew if I had any chance to fight her but I couldn't run forever.

I started to run up the stairs and one I reached the top I felt something yanking my hair.

"Got you bitch." I heard Mona say before I felt a hard punch to the side off my head, the hit was hard and very painful.

Before I had time to react she slammed me against a wall "Not so tough you dyke!" Mona almost roared as she hit me again.

"You'll be sorry that you were born." She shouted and held a knife in front of my face. I panicked and leaned forward so Mona lost her foothold and was pressed up on my back then I ran backwards and we both fell down the stairs.

I landed on Mona but it still hurt, my body was so sore it was a struggle to get back up, Mona was unconscious but she was breathing slowly so I knew I couldn't stay here since Mona could wake up at any second.

"Stupid idea Em. Really stupid idea." I said to myself as I started to limp towards the door, I reached for the handle but suddenly the door opened and The Joker was standing in front of me. Before I had any time to react he shot me, I felt the dart in my shoulder and I struggled to stay awake but I felt my body getting weaker and before I knew it I was on the floor.

"Bag her, tie her and get her to Anarky." The Joker said and then I passed out.

A few hours later:

"HEY! YOU CAN'T DO THIS!" I head Ezra's voice shouting. I opened my eyes just to notice that it was a bag over my head so I couldn't see a thing.

"Oh, yes I can." I heard The Joker's voice and then something that sounded like a hard kick.

"Ezra!" I heard Aria's voice, I could tell that she was crying.

I tried to reach up to remove the bag on my head but I felt that my hands and legs where tied.

"Oh, it looks like our last guest is up." I heard Anarky say then someone remove the bag and adjusted me so I was sitting on my knees.

I looked around and saw that all my friends was here, all tied and on their knees. We were indoors inside something that looked like a set for a heavy metal music video, there was no furniture just a rock hard floor, concrete walls and a roof window where the moonlight was brightening up the room.

The Joker, Anarky and some henchmen where in the room

"Mike, please don't do this." Aria said as some of the henchmen was pouring gasoline on the floor.

"Oh sister, my dear sister. The only way to survive is to join A and you have chosen to bet on the wrong horse." He said.

"You won't get away with this." Caleb said.

"Just get it already, A is controlling this entire town, the cops can't do a shit about it, the military isn't going to make its move and your savior, your precious dark knight is gone." The Joker said then he turned to Anarky.

"Take care of the rest." He said before leaving the room.

"Ok, you heard him, keep pouring that gas, I want to make sure they'll get burnt to a crisp." Anarky said.

I looked up at him, I was disgusted by him.

"Don't give me that look." He said and walked up to me. "Oh, I know what you're thinking. You think that Batgirl will appear and save you, but you're wrong, Batgirl is dead if she was alive we would just find her and kill her, but we don't have to since she is already dead." Anarky said and reached for a cigarette but as he was about to light it he noticed that gas on the floor. "What the fuck am I doing?" He said and pocked his cigarettes.

"Hey Emily, do you think you can use the bat rang to cut the ropes?" Toby asked me.

"I can't, I lost it." I answered.

"I hoped you liked the sunlight you'll be dead in a few minutes." Anarky kept saying as he grabbed a gas tank and started to splash the gas around the room, mostly hitting the wall behind us.

"This will be a master piece." He said and kissed the tip of his fingers.

"You're not going to make me beg for my life, so why don't you just end it?" I said showing him that I wasn't scared of him. Every one of my friends stared at me in confusion.

"Emily what are you doing." Spencer asked.

"Oh, you can't wait anymore, very well your wish is my command. Anarky answered and dragged me to the middle of the room.

"Any last wishes." He asked as he grabbed his knife.

Suddenly that was a crash coming from the roof window and then a henchman fell from the window to the floor

"He looked up at Anarky and then he said."Ba… Batgirl is coming." Then he passed out.

Then Batgirl landed right in front of me.

"It's the Bat, she's here." Some of the henchmen said, as Batgirl furiously stared daggers at a terrified Anarky.

"Impossible." Anarky said before Batgirl punched him in his gut, then she hit him in the face and finished with a kick to his stomach so he fell to the ground knocked out.

The other henchmen surrounded Batgirl but she just ran up to one and hit him with an uppercut, the she quickly turned to the next and kicked his chest so he fell down then she turned her attention to the last guy who was holding a lead pipe, she swing the pipe at her but she caught it in her armpit and then she elbowed the guy's nose so he lost his grip on the pipe. He grabbed his gun but Batgirl threw a bat rang that made him lose his weapon and then she jumped into the air and punched his jaw as she landed knocking out the last one.

Then she turned her attention to me and slashed threw my ropes. I got up to my feet and placed my hands on the sides of her face and looked into her eyes, silently asking for permission to remove her mask. Batgirl nodded and I slowly lifted off her mask and for the first time in what felt like a life time I saw Paige's face again.

A/n2: That's right, Paige is back in the fanfic (Now I hope they'll bring her back on the show) and just so you guys know the next chapter might be a bit jumpy since I'm going to write what happened to Paige from the plane explosion and cover where she was when everyone thought she was dead.
