Chapter 51: Recreating Hope

Paige's Pov-

A/n: I'm sorry it's been so long since I updated I've just had major writers block. I hope you'll enjoy this chapter and revive it.

I was in the kitchen grabbing a glass of water, it had been a few minutes since I had rescued everyone from A and now they were all sleeping in some of my guestrooms.

I looked up and saw Emily looking at me like I was a ghost.

"Can we talk?" Emily asked, I could see that something was still bothering her.

"Of course." I said and walked up to Emily.

"Can we sit somewhere?" Emily asked and I went with her to the living room couch where we sat down.

Emily took a few breaths and closed her eyes before she mumbled something I couldn't hear.

"Emily, what's wrong?" I asked and gave her hand a gentle squeeze.

She looked at me with very sad eyes and said. "After that night when you were on that plane I felt my whole world crashing down." She said and stated to play with my fingers.

"It was hard for me to accept that you were dead." Emily said and I felt worse than awful when I heard her saying that, I had failed her.

"But then when I saw you… standing in front of me I became speechless. I wanted that to happen for such long time but I had no idea if it was for real or not." Emily said and started to cry.

"It's my fault." I said. "You needed me and I wasn't there for you."

"But you were..." Emily said but I raised my hand to cut her off.

"I could have returned sooner but I didn't. I had just given up." I said feeling worse that awful, but not because I had given up on being Batgirl, it was because I had caused Emily so much pain when she thought I was dead.

"I was hiding like a coward." I continued. "Whenever I thought about returning… whenever I looked at some of A's henchmen and thought about showing them that I was back I could only imagine A attacking and killing me… or worse if you became a target for something I did." I said. "Instead of getting back up I chose to give up." I said as a tear fell from my cheek.

"But you came back, what made you change your mind?" Emily asked.

"When I saw you chased by Mona and getting captured by A's henchmen I knew that you'd never survive." I said.

"And you save me, you saved all of us." Emily said and she placed her arm around me.

"I couldn't let A's hurt you, knowing that you were in danger was all I could think about. I had to save you, nothing else mattered to me." I said.

"Oh, Paige." Emily said and pulled me in for a hug.

"It's ok to be afraid, after you had told me that you were Batgirl I used to stay awake at nights, worrying that you'd die, but I stopped worrying after a while because I knew you'd come back the next day." Emily said.

I looked up at Emily and saw her eyes sparkling. "I love you" I said and pressed my lips against hers giving her a soft and gentle kiss. Emily kissed me back and then she leaned against me.

Emily's Pov-

"I've always felt safe when I'm with you." I said as I leaned against Paige feeling her heartbeat.

It's true, if I'd be horrified about something the sight of Paige was enough to calm me down. For me it didn't mattered if she was herself or if she was Batgirl when I was with her I felt safe from everything.

"You are my everything." Paige answered.

After that we didn't say very much, Paige was lying on the couch and I was resting on her feeling her breathing.

After a while it started to get harder to stay awake and I felt my eyelids starting to give up.

"Are you tired?" Paige asked.

"Yes, but I am too scared to sleep alone." I teased.

"I have to put some stuff away in the bat cave but I'll meet you in my room." Paige answered and I got off her.

She got up and threw me a kiss before walking to the bat cave, when I walked to the stairs I could hear a thud coming from the kitchen.

I knew I wasn't as used to fight like Paige was but I sneaked towards the kitchen and grabbed a nearby candlestick as a weapon.

When I reached the kitchen door I took a breath before I opened the door and when I walked into the kitchen Ezra was standing there wearing only his boxer shorts and he was holding a packet of ice cream.

"Oh, my god." I said.

Ezra turned around and looked at me with an embarrassed look on his face, then I saw Aria standing next to him, she was wearing his shirt and it was buttoned all the way down.

"Erm… hi Em." Aria said.

"Rocky road?" Ezra said embarrassed and offered me some ice cream, I responded by shaking my head.

"Well, I'm naked so I think I'll go." Ezra said and left the room.

"Did you guys?" I asked Aria, trying to not laugh as I said those words.

"We were just very happy to still be alive and one thing lead to another." Aria answered.

"Oh my god." I said and giggled in my hands.

"Please don't tell Paige." Aria whispered.

"I won't, but just so you know she might walk in here any second now." I said and Aria got a panicked look on her face. Before I had any time to tell her I was joking she grabbed her bowl of ice cream and very quietly ran back to her and Ezra's room.

I couldn't believe what I just had seen, good thing for Aria that I'm not Hanna.

I placed the candlestick on the table and walked to Paige's bedroom. Once I got there I got surprised that I had gotten to Paige's room before she did.

I borrowed a t-shirt and a pair of Paige's boxers and got changed for bed.

Once I crawled into the bed Paige walked into the room, she was already dressed for bed I guess she changed in the bat cave.

She walked up to the bed and we kissed softly before she crawled into the bed.

Paige was on her side with her back turned to me as she pulled up the blanket and I spooned her as she leaned her head against the pillow.

I moved closer to her face and kissed her ear "Guess what I saw in the kitchen."

The next day:

I woke up with my arm around Paige. I was happier than I thought was possible. Paige was still sleeping and I didn't wanted to wake her up, she looked peaceful and I could see that she was lightly smiling in her sleep.

The door slowly opened and Spencer stood in the door opening, just as she was about to say something, I shook my head and mimed a "No" to Spencer. She smiled and slowly went out the door.

I moved in closer to Paige, I didn't wanted anymore distance between us, I didn't like the distance at all.

I kept quiet and nuzzled agains to Paige without waking her up. I softly kissed her neck and then Paige started to slowly open her eyes.

"Good morning." I said and smiled at my new awaked girlfriend.

"Morning." Paige said and smiling back at me. I reached over to brush away a few strings of Paige's hair that covered her face, Paige laugh a little then she leaned in and we had a soft kiss.

"Amazing morning." I said as I placed my hand on Paige's cheek.

"The best I had in ages." Paige answered.

We both looked happily at each other for a while but we both knew we had to get up at some point.

As Paige gets out of bed she threw me a white robe as she removed her t-shirt put on a robe of her own only this one was black.

"Here, try it on." She said and I removed the t-shirt I borrowed from Paige and put on the robe she had handed me.

"It's so soft" I said as I closed my robe and felt it on my skin.

"I thought you'd like it, being rich has its perks." Paige said.

"Yeah, but that's now even remotely close to the many reasons why I love you." I answered.

"What are the reasons?" Paige asked.

"Well, how about you're the most amazing girl I've ever met." I said.

Paige smiled and kissed me. "You're amazing too."

"You know when I was a little girl I'd play with Aria, Hanna and Spencer and we'd play with princess doll and imagine how our prince charming would be. I wanted to have a brave knight in shining armor every time we talked about our prince charming." I said and looked to Paige.

"I guess things didn't go the way you planned." Paige said.

I walked up to her and placed my arms behind her neck. "But it did." I said and Paige looked at me with her big brown eyes.

"I got my beautiful and brave dark knight." I said and Paige blushed as I moved so close our faces almost touched.

"And I her name is Paige McCullers." I said and I once again pressed my lips against Paige's, she started to suck on my bottom lip asking me for access wish I granted her. I opened my mouth and our tongues battled for dominance. I moved one of my hands from Paige's neck and cupped the back of her head, pushing her closer to me. Once we broke the kiss I leaned onto her, resting our foreheads against each other.

"We should go downstairs, before they start to assume things." I said.

"Like we're doing the same thing in my bed like Arai and Ezra did in one of my guestrooms?" Paige joked and I laugh and slapped her arm.

We went downstairs and saw the others standing in the kitchen and had coffee, or well all but Hanna since she was pregnant.

"So Paige, what are you going to do about the A problem?" Hanna asked.

"Hanna!" Aria, Spencer and I shouted.

"I've been gone for so long. For now Batgirl is going to lay low and observe the patrols and wait for the right time to strike a crippling blow to A's henchmen." Paige answered.

"Well, it's a challenge, A might not be in town for now but her henchmen are making sure nothing gets in or out of the town without A saying so." Ezra said and we all nodded in agreement.

"I know, that's why I won't go to school for a while." Paige answered.

"Paige is right, if anyone would notice that she is in town all of a sudden they'd ask questions." Toby said before Ezra had any time to protest to what Paige just said.

"And if A would figure out that Paige got back to town the same week Batgirl returned from the grave they'd figure out her secret." Caleb said.

"Ok, Paige doesn't have to go to school since these are special circumstances." Ezra said.

"What about me? I'm a super hero too." Hanna said.

"Really?" Aria said sarcastically.

"Yes." Hanna said and shrugged.

"That's the worse excuse to not go to school." Spencer said.

"Well I'm Bat… blonde, yeah that's right I'm Bat blonde." Hanna said and we all looked at her then Paige started to laugh and then we all joined her laughing at Hanna's lame excuse to skip school.

After a few hours everyone else went to their homes.

"Wait!" Paige said as I was about to walk out the door.

"We haven't really had any time together just the two of us so, I thought we could have a date at my place this afternoon, just the two of us." Paige said.

Her suggestion was a bit unexpected but I felt like we both needed to spend time together.

"Ok, I'll met you around five." I said to Paige and then I left for school.

Paige's Pov-

After all had left I suddenly felt that I was alone again. These last weeks I hadn't spent time with anyone else other than Sydney. That's when I remembered that I should call Sydney and tell her what had happened last night.

I grabbed my phone and dialed her number, nothing happened no answer or voicemail just nothing like she had given me a false number.

I checked the digits and tried to call her again but same thing happened, now I started to wonder who she was.

I went down to the Batcave and searched for her but I got nothing, I was chasing a ghost, who was that girl?

I had to look into that some other time now I had to try to make a romantic dinner for Emily and I since there wasn't much food in the refrigerator and going to a restaurant would be too risky since someone might recognize me.

I sat down on a chair and rubbed my eyes.

This is just a fine mess I've gotten myself into, I was alive but I couldn't even leave my house, or well not like Paige anyway. It was like when I was a kid and got grounded but at least when I got grounded it'd be over after a week or two.

"So A, let's see what I can do to stop you now." I said as I activated to computer and checked news from when the cargo plane I was in had crashed to get caught up in what had happened when I had spent most time at Sydney's place.

Most news where that A had taken over the town by having her henchmen going mayhem with military grade firearms and putting up roadblock around the exits around Rosewood and they had also set up an electric fence around town with surveillance cameras that was watching if anyone got too close. A occasionally let trucks drive in with food or medical supplies in order to keep Rosewood going but nothing got in or out in one piece.

I checked more news articles and I saw that some were asking where Batgirl was, since the police force wasn't existing anymore.

I turned off the computer and went to my suites, they were all still there and so was my stealth bike and the Bat wing, I guess Caleb brought it back the night I almost died.

"Well A, I'm back from the dead, I wonder how much else you can throw at me until you're out of options." I said before I went back upstairs and started to plan what to do tonight for my date with Emily.

Emily's Pov-

I had just gotten home from school and as soon as I opened the door my mom ran up to me and gave me a tight hug.

"I was so worried about you." She said as she was holding me tight.

"I'm sorry mom, I was studying with Spencer and I lost track of time." I lied.

"Once it got dark I could either sleepover at Spencer or try to sneak home and with A's night patrols I'd be impossible." I continued.

"I only wish you had called me sooner, for a while I was worried that the worse had happened." My mom said.

"I'm sorry mom, the battery in my cell phone was dead." I lied.

"Come inside I made some tea." My mom said and we went indoors and I sat down with her at the kitchen table where she served the tea.

"You need to be careful I can protect you from A now." My mom said.

"I know mom." I answered and started to sip on my tea.

"I know you're a big girl now but it's very dangerous to live here now so you can't go anywhere without telling me first." My mom said.

"I know that, but I think that things might change around here if Batgirl would return." I said without thinking.

Mom suddenly looked like she had seen a ghost. She almost dropped her cup of tea and looked terrified at me "What do you know about Batgirl?" She asked.

"I've only heard that some guys in school says they think they've seen Batgirl last night." I lied and my mom suddenly looked a lot calmer.

"What do you think about Batgirl?" I asked.

"I think she is someone who takes the law in her own hands and think she is above it." My mom said.

"But she has helped a lot of people before." I said a little shocked over what she said.

"I know that and she did save me from Deathstroke but that doesn't mean that what she does is right. No one can just take the law in their own hands and do whatever they want." My mom said and I wanted to protest but I didn't wanted to fight her today, after all last night I was almost killed.

I continued to drink my tea and them I looked at my mom and then I decided to lie again.

"I'm going to help Hanna with her English and I might have to spend the night there if it gets late." I said.

"Ok, Emmy, I trust you." My mom said and put down her cup. "Just be careful you are all I got left."

I left the table and went upstairs to do my homework's. The last thing I thought I would do when A took over the town.

Once I was done with my homework's I looked at the time and saw that it was 4:45 pm.

I went downstairs and grabbed my jacket. "Bye mom I'll go Hanna's and help her with her homework's." I said and all I heard was a worried sigh from her.

I went to the living room and saw her looking at an album with baby photos off me. I sat down next to her and looked at the photos.

"Was that from when I learnt to swim?" I said and pointed to a photo of me when I was 6 years old and I was in a pool.

"Yes you were such a natural." Mom said and flipped the page to look at some other photos.

I understood that my mom was worried that I wouldn't come back.

"I promise I'll be careful." I said and hugged my mom.

"I know my precious, I'm just so worried." Mom answered.

"Don't be, you know that I won't do anything risky." I answered.

"I'll see you tomorrow." I said and she smiled and whispered "I know." Then she continued to check the album.

I went outside and started to walk to Paige's mansion, it was still very bright so I could get to Paige's mansion without worrying that I'd walk onto one of A's patrols since they are only out at night.

After a few minutes I reached Paige's mansion and once I knocked on the door she opened it and smiled at me.

"It's been too long since we had a date." She said as I walked in.

"Yeah, but in order to date both have to be alive." I answered.

"Hey, I didn't say I was dead." Paige said.

"Well I had nothing to prove otherwise." I answered.

"Well, I'm here now." Paige said.

"Yes you are." I answered and kissed her cheek.

Paige guided me to the living room where she had moved all the furniture against the walls.

"What is this?" I asked.

Paige grabbed her cell phone and pressed a button then music started to play.

"Can I have this dance?" She asked.

"Just try to stop me." I answered and walked up to Paige. She placed one hand on my waist as I put hand on her shoulder. We started to slow dance to really old music. Paige moved calmly to the rhythm and I leaned my head against her shoulder following her every move.

"I never expected you to be such romantic." I whispered into Paige's ear.

"Well, you bring out new sides of me." She answered.

We continued to dance away completely forgetting the time and anything else.

We danced until the music stop playing.

"Wow, we danced through all songs." Paige said sounding surprised.

"Yeah, I guess we did." I said suddenly felling exhausted. I looked at the time and saw that we had danced for almost 3 hours.

"Wow time really does fly by when you're having fun." I said almost out of breath.

"Do you want something to eat, I don't have much but I managed to make some pancakes." Paige said.

"Pancakes for dinner, that's unusual." I said and followed Paige to the kitchen.

"Well that was the only thing I could find that hadn't expired." She answered and placed some pancakes on a plate and handed them to me, then made another plate for herself.

We ate and I noticed that it had gotten dark outside.

"You do know that I'll spend the night here." I blurted out while I was looked at Paige.

"I mean it is dark outside and now A's patrols are out and fires at everyone who is outside." I continued.

"That's a very extreme curfew." Paige said.

"So you did plan on me staying here tonight?" I asked.

"I wouldn't have it any other way." Paige answered.

After the dinner we decided to call it a night and got changed for bed.

I was changing in one of the bathrooms, even if Paige and I had seen each other naked several times before it felt different for me to change in front of Paige.

I went to bed wearing a baggy t-shirt, a bra and a pair of boxers.

Paige was sitting on the bed and looked out through the window. It sounded like it was fireworks going on outside, Paige starred at the town looking like she was very bothered.

"What do you think is going on?" I asked.

Than a radio turned on, at first it was just static interferences but as it cleared I could hear an insane laugh.

"Hey everyone, this is Harley Quinn I'd just like to say that last night a few people broke the curfew but got away without getting punished." I hear Monas voice coming from the radio.

"I'm outside the hospital and unless if Spencer Hastings, Toby Cavanaugh, Hanna Marin, Caleb Rivers, Aria Montgomery, Ezra Fitz and Emily Fields comes here within the next thirty minutes I'll go inside the hospital, grab a patient and kill him or her, then I'll wait for five minutes and get another patient and repeat until everyone I mentioned is here." She said sounding very threatening.

"She's serious." I said terrified and was about to walk out of Paige's bedroom but Paige grabbed my arm to stop me.

"Paige let me go, I have to get out there or she'll stat to kill people." I said trying to break Paige's grip on my arm.

"You're going to get killed." She said.

"I can't let her kill others." I answered and Paige pulled me towards her and looked into my eyes.

"She's not, because I'm going there." She said and the she let go of my arm.

I was going to tell her not to but I could see in her eyes that she had was incredibly confident that she could fight Mona. I gave Paige a quick kiss and said "Got get her, Batgirl." And Paige nodded before she ran to the Batcaver. I stayed in her room and looked out through her bedroom window to see my dark knight glide away to once again fight A.

Paige's Pov-

I was on my way to the hospital where I know Mona was, tonight everyone would know for sure that Batgirl was back in Rosewood.

"I used my grappling hook to get to a roof top where I ran on until I reached the edge than I jumped and used my cape to break my fall and glide a far distance witch probably is why the sometimes mistakes me for a demon bat or anything else they've assumed that I was.

I fired my grappling hook at another building to gain more air and it almost felt like I was flying for real, I've missed that so much, but I knew this wasn't the time to get nostalgic since it was life at stake.

I hurried to a rooftop that was on the street right in front of the hospital. Mona was standing there holding a gun in her hand as two of her henchmen dragged out a man who was wearing a hospital gown and he was coughing a lot. They forced him down to his knees in front of Mona.

"Please, I'm very sick." He begged.

"I know, and now I'll put you out of your misery." She said and aimed her gun to the man's forehead.

Before she pulled the trigger I threw a batrang that cut her on the back of her hand. As she screamed in pain she dropped her gun and I jumped down on the street landing on the ground.

Mona was holding her injured hand and made a few sounds of annoy and pain.

I walked towards her and suddenly one of her henchmen looked my way and he gasp as he saw me.

"What is it now?" Mona shouted as she turned to face him and then she saw me.

"Why are you two so scared? Can't you see it's someone who has seen too many action movies?" She said to the henchmen who still looked scared.

As they stared at me the sick man got up to his feet and hurried back inside the hospital.

"Well, go get that fraud." Mona said.

"Yes Miss Quinn." One said and ran towards me. As he threw a punch at me I kicked his shin and he fell to the ground. I quickly grabbed his right arm and held it up in the air while I said "Get out of her or I'll break the other." He looked up to me and said. "The other wha…" Then I kicked his arm so hard that I felt the bone break. He screamed in pain as he crawled away.

I glared at Mona and her other henchman and said. "Leave." The other henchman looked at Mona and then back at me before he started to run.

"Coward!" Mona shouted after him.

Then she looked back at me. "So what, you think you're Batgirl just because you beat up one guy and spooked the other, you're just some punk kid who is doing this to seem cool, but guess what now it's time to you to wake up and face reality." She said and picked up her gun.

"This is what happens to the once who doesn't know what's good for them." She said and as she aimed at me I dropped a smoke pellet and fired my grappling hook at the roof of the hospital and quickly pulled myself to safety.

Mona fired several bullets into the empty smoke before she realized that I wasn't there.

"Come out, come out wherever you are." She said but I stayed on the rooftop since I knew that if I attacked her head on it'd be suicide, instead I waited.

Mona kept walking to where I had dropped the smoke pellet and started to wave her arms to clear the smoke away.

I threw another smoke pellet in front of her and she panicked and fired her gun over and over again as she screamed like a girl in a horror movie.

Once the smoke had cleared I jumped down and landed behind her, Mona heard the thud from my landing (like I planned) and turned around aiming her gun at me. She pulled the trigger multiple times but the gun was just clicking.

She looked at me in terror as she reached into her pocket for more bullet, but I grabbed her wrist before she had a chance to get more bullets. I gave her wrist a squeeze that made her drop her gun.

"You're under arrest." I said.

"You'll never take me alive Bat-fraud." She said and she suddenly used her other hand to throw some dirt in my face, I got blinded and before I had any chance to react I felt a punch to my cheek. I dropped Mona's arm and took a few steps back still blinded from the dirt she had thrown in my eyes.

"Hey, will you look at that, you're blind as a bat." She said before kicking me in the gut.

I fell down to my knees from that kick. "Time to finish you of." She said, this time I rolled away from her when I heard that she got close to kick me again.

"Fluke!" She said as she ran towards me, but now I could see a little better so I dodged her.

"Stand still." She shouted frustrated as she started to throw punches at me, but I dodged everyone.

I rubbed my eye one last time to get a clear sight over our fight.

Mona threw a right hook at me, but I caught her fist and punched her gut before she had any time to react. She took a few steps back as I hit her again, this time I punched the side of her head so she fell down to her knees, she noticed that her gun was right next to her.

She picked it up and aimed at me, but I kicked it out of her hand.

"Whatever, it was empty anyway." Mona said and got up on her feet.

She did a roundhouse kick that I just dodged, I was so close I could feel the wind from her kick as her foot just missed my face.

She tried another kick but I dropped down and this time I kicked the ankle of her other foot so she fell down on her back.

She got up quickly looking like she was drunk. She suddenly pulled out a knife from her sleeve. She grabbed it with both her hands and ran up to me and tried to stab me, but I grabbed her wrists stopping her final attack.

"You're pretty strong for some punk that this she is Batgirl." Mona said as she tried to muster the strength she needed to get my hands of her wrists.

I looked into her insane eyes and I could tell that she had lost her mind.

"I am Batgirl." I said and Mona panicked as she dropped the knife. She tried to kick me in desperation but I jumped back so her kick missed me, then punched her in the jaw so hard she got knocked out.

I placed some handcuffs on her and then I picked her up. I called the stealth bike to arrive to my location and pick us up.

As I checked her to see if she was wearing more weapons I saw that people in the hospital stood by the windows and looked down at me, I could hear that they mumbled about me some thought they were going to be safe now, I had given these people hope and it felt good.

The stealth bike arrived and I placed Mona's unconscious body on the back of the seat as I got on it.

I knew my purpose, I had to stop A and now Mona was going to tell me everything she knew.
