Dearest Susan and Lucy
I write to both of you in one letter because I fear I will not have time to do justice to such lovely words in the short time I have for leisure activities. Do not be alarmed, I have every comfort I could wish for here, except the comfort of time. I truly cannot wait to return home (is it too forward to call Cair Paravel home now?) and tell you tales of all the strange and wonderful plants and herbs and even people that I have encountered. True, everything is more interesting when travelling in a royal carriage, but I do like to believe that my sparkling wit is what is causing my popularity with most of the locals here.
Lucy, I am glad to know you are in the Houses more and more, and perhaps when I return we can see about you taking care of a number of patients a day? You are now ready, I believe, to become a fully qualified Healer and thus must be treated as such. And, Susan, I must insist that you find some activity to occupy your thoughts that does not involve planning a wedding, least of all mine. When and if the time comes, you are free to do as you please. However, I must assure both of you that such an event is not due to happen any time soon.
You both give me very similar accounts of Edmund's behavior, and that worries me greatly. He has mentioned nothing so extraordinary in his own letters, and I must admit this increases my desire to return as soon as I am able. Do not fret, however. He is perfectly able to look after himself and he knows I am quite comfortable here, so his worry is needless and he shall soon realize that. I have enclosed a letter to him that will put his mind at ease, and I must charge you both to get Lias to see him if his current behavior persists. The last thing we need on top of this new disease is the Just King falling ill.
Give my love to everyone, and please be prepared for my nieces' return one month from now, in case I am not there to greet them myself. I miss you both terribly.
Liana
