Chapter 53: The Time is Running Out

Paige's Pov-

I had no time to lose, I had to save all of them no matter what it'd take from me.

I grabbed my cell phone and called Spencer and Caleb as I got on my stealth bike.

"Guys I need your help, The Joker has kidnapped Hanna, Ezra and Emily." I said talking to both of them.

"WHAT?! HOW DID IT HAPPENED?" I heard Caleb say over the phone. I could tell that he was about to lose his mind over what had happened to Hanna and I didn't blame him. I would have reacted the same way if there was absolutely nothing I could do to save Emily.

"What did you say happened to Ezra?" I suddenly heard Arias' voice on the phone.

"Aria?" I said confused.

"Aria and I were having a sleepover." Spencer explained.

"Ok, listen up. I need both of you to help me save them, you are both great with computers can you guys try to trace where Emily, Hanna and Ezra is from their cellphones?" I asked as I looked at the card of Emily.

Hang in there Em, I'll save you.

"Yes I think that could work." Spencer said. "I'll just get to the Bat cave and…"

"No." I said cutting Spencer off.

"It's too dangerous for any of you to get outside at night and we don't have time for me to escort either one of you to the Bat cave. You guys will have to do this

"Ok, both of you, call me as soon as you've narrowed down where they are." I said and hanged up. Then I drove my stealth bike around town, scanning buildings to see if Emily was in any of them.

Suddenly my phone started to ring.

"It's Spencer, I've found Ezra. He is on a small boat down at the docks." Spencer said and I made a sharp U-turn and drove towards the docks where Spencer had told me she had found Ezra.

On my way I saw one of the patrol cars that belonged to As' henchmen.

My bike was in stealth mode so I had no problems driving past them without getting detected.

I had no idea what Mike had arranged to happen if I'd be too late so I ignored attacking the henchmen tonight.

A few seconds later I reached the dock, I got of my stealth bike and started to search for Ezra, I move both fast and quietly to make sure I would have the element of surprise if there was another surprise for me, I pressed a small button on the side om my mask that activated my detective vision (something I had recently had created) now I'd know if there was some enemies nearby or on the other side of a wall, I could also see if they were armed and I could even tell their pulse so I'd know if they were calm or terrified, but it also made it hard for me to see my surroundings since everything was in blue.

I kept looking around until I saw a person sitting on a boat, since he was tied to a chair I assumed that it was Ezra. I turned off the detective vision since it made it hard to see my surroundings.

I walked aboard the boat and walked up to the person I had seen from my detective vision. It was a man and he had a bag on his head. I reached up and pulled the bag off his head then I could see for sure that it was Ezra.

He looked up at me looking like he had been in a fight and lost hard.

"Hey, are you awake?" I asked checking if he was conscious.

He coughed as a respond and gave me a week nod.

"I'm getting you out of here." I said and starting to cut through his ropes.

"No… wait. I'm sitting on a pressure plate if I move… the whole boat will explode." He said as he almost cough up blood.

I looked under his chair and saw the C4 that was under the seat.

"There is more under the boat." Ezra continued.

"Well, then you better get ready." I said as I moved Ezra's arms so he had a good grip on me.

"Ready for what?" He asked.

"To fly." I answered as I fired my grappling hook at a roof top that was a bit far awat from the dock and hopefully the explosions blast range.

I held tight on to Ezra as I used the full retraction speed from the grappling hook to pull us away from the explosion.

A few seconds after Ezra was dragged pf the chair there was a loud explosion and I could feel the fire from it as I glided with Ezra to safety.

Once we were at a safe distance far away from the explosion I landed on the ground.

"You think you can make it?" I asked.

"Yeah, I'll hide in one of the sheds until morning then I'm out of here." Ezra said.

"Good, Mike has kidnapped Hanna and Emily too." I said as I got on my Stealth bike and started to drive it.

As I drove through town still searching for Hanna and Emily I got another phone call from Spencer.

"It's me again, Caleb text me and said that he had traced down Hanna and she is in the stock room at the fancy clothes store, you know that place that sells those fancy dresses and suites." Spencer said.

"Why didn't he just call me right away?" I asked.

"I don't know and when I tried to call him I could reach him, like he had turned off his phone." Spencer said.

"Ok, I'll save Hanna, I just hope Caleb didn't answer you because his phone is out of batteries." I said and then I started to drive to where I'd been told Hanna was held.

It only took a few seconds for me to get there since I could drive way over the speed limit and there are no other cars out at night asides from the patrol vans that A's henchmen drives.

I entered the store from the back and I saw a group of henchmen that surrounded Hanna, she was sitting on the floor crying in fear.

"Just cry you bitch, no one is going to save you now." One of the henchmen said as he pointed at Hanna with a big hunters knife that he held in his hand.

I threw a batrang that cut the man's hand so he dropped the knife at the floor.

"It's the bat." One of the other henchmen said and everyone turned their attention to me.

I walked towards the henchmen that looked at me with fear.

"What are you waiting for you idiots? Kill her!" They guy that I had threw the batrang at shouted and the other henchmen circled around me trying to corner me. The man who shouted must be the group leader, no matter I knew I could beat up these lowlifes without breaking a sweat

I quickly threw a punch to one henchman's jaw then I took a quick step back and hit another henchman in his gut as I simultaneously dodged a right hook from another henchman.

Then I jumped onto another henchman and slammed the back of his head onto the ground and he got knocked out. I jumped off the unconscious man's body and turned to the other henchmen showing them that I had only just begun.

One picked up a fire extinguisher and held it above his head as he was about to throw it, but I threw a batrang that hit him right across his face, the sudden pain in his face made him lose his grip on the fire extinguisher and it hit him on his head.

"Is there anyone of you morons that can fight?" The henchmen's leader shouted in anger as he held his injured hand.

Suddenly another door opened and someone walked in, I took a good look at him before I noticed who it was. It was Caleb only now he was wearing a suite that was made from the same material as my bat suite and his Robin suite but this one was long sleeved and had no cape, he still had his belt and staff but instead of his red and yellow colors his suite was now blue and black and instead of a R on his chest it was a big blue bird with great wings.

He walked up next to me and we stood shoulder to shoulder as we faced the rest of the henchmen.

"Nice new suite." I said.

"Thanks, and it's Nightwing now." Caleb answered.

We both charged the rest of the henchmen and I kicked one guy at the back of his knee and Nightwing threw a rock hard punch to the guy's face. Then I kicked another henchman in his gut as Nightwing smacked a henchman with his staff, then Nightwing used his staff to jump over the last villain and then Nightwing hit the back of the guys' knees as I threw a heavy punch to the guys face.

"So, Nightwing is your new name?" I asked.

"Yeah, I thought is sounded cooler than Robin." Nightwing answered.

"How did you sneak past the patrols?" I asked.

"I was trained by you." Caleb answered then we both turned to the leader of the group that we just had beaten up.

"You think, you've won, there is nothing you can do." He said but both Caleb and I knew that it was an empty threat.

Nightwing walked up to him and kicked the villain so he got knocked out.

"I'll get Hanna somewhere safe, you go get Emily." He said as he helped Hanna getting back up.

I went back to my stealth bike and as soon as I stated the engine I got a phone call from Spencer.

"I've located Emily, she is in the basement of the church." Spencer said.

"Ok, I'm on my way." I answered and drove to the church, once I reached it I got of my stealth bike and I walked through the church doors, if there were going to be more of A's henchmen inside the church then so be it. I went inside the church and it was empty.

I activated the detective vision but the church was entirely empty.

I turned off the detective vision grabbed my phone and called Spencer.

"Are you sure this is where you found Emily?" I asked.

"I tracked her phone and I got a week signal from the church." Spencer answered.

"I'm inside the church and there is no one here." I answered.

"The church has a basement, try checking down there." Spencer said and I hanged up the phone and went downstairs to the basement.

Once I was through the basement door I saw Emily, she was tied to a chair with her back turned to me.

"Emily." I said as I ran up to her happy that she was there, but once I got close enough I saw that it wasn't Emily, it was just a mannequin with a raven haired wig and there was a small TV on its lap.

The TV turned on and Mike was on the screen.

"Oh I'm sorry, were you expecting someone else." He said.

I noticed that it was just a recording of Mike so there was no point in yelling at him.

"I know you expected it too bee sweet innocent Emily Fields but you'll have to settle with me for a few seconds. Since you're here you've either save the other two or you started with Emily either way I underestimated you." He said and turned the camera so it faced Emily, she was in chains and she was crying. Seeing her like that made me both worried and furious.

"As you can see she is alive and kicking but if there is any comfort I've arranged so you could meet another Fields." Mike said before the TV turned itself off.

Then I heard footsteps behind me.

"Don't move." I heard Pam's voice.

I slowly started to turn around but suddenly I heard a gunshot.

"I said don't move." Pam said sounding like she had just cried.

"Why are you here?" I asked.

"I'm here because I love my daughter." She said and I heard her walking closer towards me, she kept walking closer until I felt her gun against the back of my head.

"I can get your daughter back." I said.

Pam took a deep breath and said in an angered but also conflicted voice "I already know how I can get her back, I'm going to shoot you."
