Chapter 55: Green Light

A/N: Hi guys, I know it's been a while since I updated this and I got no excuse why it's been such long time, but here is the next chapter I hope you'll enjoy it.

Paige's Pov-

I was in the Batcave with Toby and Spencer, we were both trying to figure out a way to free Rosewood from A, I had to show the people that A was just a person and every person is afraid of something and I was going to be the thing the A was scared of.

"Any ideas on how to knock the fence down?" I asked.

"Nothing that doesn't involve a tank." Toby answered.

"And once the fence is down A's henchmen will start to gather up people to hold hostage," Spencer said.

"Are you sure about that?" Toby asked.

"That's what I'd do." Spencer answered, I knew that A's henchmen was nowhere near as smart as Spencer was but I knew that making sure no civilians was going to die was going to be my first priority.

"We must come up with a plan fast, the henchmen are disorganized for now but if A would return we'll lose our edge on them." I said still trying to figure out a way to save the town. There must be a way.

"Hey, what's this?" Toby said and held up the ring I had stolen from Mona.

"It's something Mona had, it must have been very important to her since she freaked out when I took it." I answered.

"Do you think it has any sentimental value? I mean it's just a ring." Toby said.

"With A nothing is what it seems to be." I said.

Toby put the ring on his finger "Well, I can say for sure that this is only a plain old…" Suddenly a bright green beam was fried from Toby's hand, it almost smashed a hole in the mountain foundation.

"Did I just… do that?" Toby asked.

Spencer and I looked at Toby and we saw that he had just as little of an idea to what had happened as we did.

"Do what you did when that beam appeared?" I said.

"Well I just…" Toby said and closed his hand into a fist and another green beam was fried from his hand, this one hit the roof and left a hole all the way through the mountain.

"What is wrong with me?" Toby said sounding really worried.

"I think it's the ring." I said and I got if of Toby's finger, then I tried it on.

"Ok, make a fist now." I said and Toby very worried closed his hand, this time nothing happened.

"It must be the ring." Spencer said.

I closed my hand into a fist while I was wearing the ring, but nothing happened and then Spencer tried the same and got the same result.

"It must be broken now." Spencer said really confused about the ring.

"Yes… or." I said and gave the ring to Toby who very reluctantly put it on his finger.

"It only works when Toby uses it." I said, I looked over to Toby who didn't wanted to fire another beam.

"Just relax and see if something else happens." I said.

"Ok, I'm relaxed, I'm relaxed I'm perfectly relaxed." Toby said as he had his eyes closed.

"I'm calm and relaxed." Toby said and then the ring was glowing and he started to levitate. Toby still seemed unaware that he was practically flying was breathing slowly and started to open and close his hands.

"Ok, I think you're too relaxed." I said and Toby opened his eyes to notice that he was now 6 feet in the air.

"Fuck, I want down!" Toby shouted once he opened his eyes, as he was losing control over his flight.

"Toby!" Spencer cried as we saw Toby looking like he was about to crash.

"Toby, closes your eyes and focus on my voice!" Spencer screamed and Toby did as she said.

"Now listen, just concentrate on my voice, and ignore everything else." Spencer said and Toby stopped flying around randomly and he was now being completely still and hovered in the air.

That's good, now focus on getting down on the ground… slowly." Spencer said and Toby was slowly dropping from the air until he landed on the floor right in front of us.

Toby was really trusting Spencer almost as much as I trusted Emily… almost.

"That was really cool." Toby said as Spencer ran up and hugged him.

"I know Toby, you were amazing." Spencer said and kissed Toby's cheek.

"Do you think you can learn to control it?" I asked Toby.

"I don't know, it's going to take a lot of practice." Toby answered.

"Well, now we know why this ring is so important to Mona." Spencer said.

"Yeah, that's why it's important that A doesn't her hands on…" I heard someone walk into the Batcave.

"Paige? Are you there?" I heard Emily's voice.

"Yeah, we're down here, just wait there and I'll come up." I said and started to go upstairs.

I looked back at Toby and said "You can keep training if you feel like you're ready to fly some more." Then I walked up the stairs where Emily was standing. As soon as I was upstairs Emily pressed her lips against mine.

"What was that for?" I asked.

"For being the greatest girlfriend I've had and my heroine." Emily said and kissed me again.

"It sounds like I'm doing a good job as your hero, I mean I've saved you more times than I can remember." I joked.

"Five more rescues and I'll marry you." Emily said.

I got stunned when she said that, I knew that I really loved Emily, I loved her with all of my heart and I couldn't imagine my life without her, but I had never thought about marrying her. Not that I didn't wanted to I just never thought about it.

I must have gotten a frightened look on my face since Emily was staring at me like I was a ghost "Is everything ok?" Emily asked.

"Erm… yeah, it's just I never thought about getting married." I said and I felt myself blushing.

"Oh, I was just joking when I said that." Emily said, now she looked embarrassed. "Not that I don't want to marry you you're the perfect girl for me and I wouldn't say no if you…" Emily tried to explain but I could tell that she only got more nervous as she tried to explained, so I grabbed her by the waist and spun her around. "Just kiss me." I said and Emily smiled and kissed me, this time she suck on my bottom lip as we parted from the kiss.

"How about this, we don't talk more about marriage until we graduated high school?" I suggested.

"Deal." Emily answered.

"Are you two gong to kiss on it?" We heard Spencer's voice.

"I like the sound of that." Emily said and we kissed again, this time with passion as we held tight onto each other.

"Good thing me and Toby are here, otherwise you two would go much further than that." Spencer said.

"You're starting to sound like Hanna now." Emily said and Spencer gave her a short glare.

"How's it going for Toby now?" I asked.

"He soars much better now, but I still have to talk him down." Spencer answered.

"What are you talking about?" Emily asked.

"It's hard to tell, come with me and I'll just show you." I said and guided Emily down to the Batcave.

Emily's Pov-

A few minutes later:

"Wow that was incredible." I said as I stood next to Paige. We had just seen Toby levitate in the air.

"Yeah we were just as stunned as you are when we saw that." Spencer said.

"How long have you been able to do that?" I asked Toby.

"I learned it just now." He said.

"It's a ring that gives him the power to do that." Paige explained.

"Why don't you use that ring?" I asked Paige.

"It didn't do anything when I touched it and neither when Spencer touched it." Paige said.

"Do you guys think that Mona knew that the ring would have that effect on Toby?" I asked.

"I don't know, Mona never said anything about the ring when I took it, she just screamed and demanded me to give it to her." Paige said.

"Do you think Mona will tell us what she knows if we promise to let her go?" I asked.

"I don't know, but for now let's keep Mona and Mike locked in." Paige said.

"How are things on the streets?" Spencer asked.

"A's men are getting more desperate, now they are starting to break into houses while they search for Mona and Mike." I said.

"What!" Paige shouted.

"Yeah and they aren't afraid of doing in during the daytime, on my way here I saw a lot of A's men breaking into houses and they were smashing through everything." I said.

"Are you sure your house is safe?" Paige asked.

"Honestly I don't know and it scares me." I answered.

"You can stay here as long as you like, you know that." Paige said sounding very concerned.

"Yes but I can't leave my mom, and besides you did say that you'll free Rosewood tonight." I said.

"Yes, but I don't know how." Paige answered.

"Then you better be good at improvising." I heard Caleb's voice and as I turned around I saw that he and Ezra was standing behind us.

"Wouldn't be the first time I did." Paige answered.

"Don't worry about us, we're ready for tonight." Ezra said.

"How long until, the sun sets?" Paige asked.

"An hour and a half." Spencer answered.

"Ok, you guys prepare and I'll tell you when it's time." Paige said.

"Emily can we talk, alone?" Paige asked.

"Sure." I said and Paige grabbed my hand like she was about to say something very sad. She led me up the stairs to her room when we sat down on her bed, Paige and I sat down so we faced each other.

"Em, I don't know how to say this…" Paige started.

"What is it?" I asked worried about the concern in Paige's voice.

"Tonight will be the point of no return for me, after this A will return and when she does I don't know what to do." Paige said.

"Paige." I said and placed my on her cheek.

"I just don't know if I can face A, I know I have fought her and survived but I think I only survived those times because she let me." Paige continued.

"Paige, I know you're scared but I believe that you can save us." I said.

"I just don't know if I can defeat A, I've been gone for a long time and I feel like I'm not the Batgirl this town needs me to be." Paige said and I she started to cry.

I placed my arm around Paige and pulled her in for a hug, Paige cried out on my shoulder as I held her.

"I never wanted to be like this." Paige sobbed. "I didn't wanted to become Batgirl." She continued.

"It was A, it's always been A, once she killed my parents she also killed a part of me, she killed who I could have become." Paige cried as I held her head and wiped away her tears before I hugged her again.

"Ever since I found out that A was responsible for their deaths all my dreams… all my goal… all my life has been about her, when I was 13 all I thought about was to kill A… I pretended that A hadn't gotten under my skin but she already had." Paige cried.

"Paige listen, I love you and not even A can change that." I said.

"You are the best this that has ever happened to me, whenever I'm with you I know that I'm safe and that's not because of Batgirl it's because of Paige McCullers." I said and Paige stopped crying and looked at me.

"I loved you before I even knew that you were Batgirl and that haven't changed. It's not Batgirl that make you amazing, it's the other way around." I said as Paige looked into my eyes.

"I have thought so for a very long time and that's why I've never thought anything less about you." I said then I got up and grabbed one of Paige's masks.

"Being together with you, getting to know you, fall in love with you is why I see beyond this." I said and held up the mask so Paige saw it.

"I know that you can save this town because you already have, A's men just don't know it yet. Now let's make sure they will know it for sure." I said and handed Paige her mask and Paige looked at me, then she reached for the mask and held it in her hands just looking at it.

"It's dark now, are you ready?" I asked.

"Yes." Paige said as she put the mask on. "Yes I am."

A/N2: Just to be clear Toby is going to be Green lantern, I figured since Caleb is Nightwing and Ezra is Flash I thought it was about time Toby got into crime fighting as well.
