Chapter 11: Healing Body and Heart

Mikey yawned as he sat up in bed, stretching. Smacking his lips a few times, he bolted from the sheets, silently making his way to Leo's room. It had been two weeks since their encounter with the Shredder, and Fallyn still hadn't woken up. To say everyone was on edge would be an understatement. Whenever April stopped by, she would stay in Leo's room with her comatose sister, allowing Leo to train with his brothers. Not that they accomplished much. In reality, no one did much of anything anymore.

Leo's reaction time was significantly slower, and he hardly ever watched Space Heroes. Raph's punches didn't hold near the strength as they had in the past, barely making contact with anything. Material or organic. Donnie's eyes were glazed over, his mind constantly on Fallyn. He had attached an IV to her arm to keep her hydrated, and a monitor on that. If it did anything, he would immediately drop anything and bolt to his eldest brother's room.

And as for Mikey… he just didn't have the heart. To do anything. He didn't goof off, scarcely pranked anyone, and practically never cracked a joke. Over the past fourteen days, the sewer lair had become very quiet and somber.

Even Splinter was affected. He would either be at April's side while she sat with Fallyn, or in the dojo with his sons. Sometimes he would sit with the comatose girl, letting April train with the boys. But, even then, hardly anything was done.

Shaking himself out of his thoughts, Mikey softly knocked on Leo's door. "Leo?" he whispered. "You in there bro?" The metal door opened, revealing a sleepy Leonardo. He had evidently been woken up by Mikey's knocks, because he didn't even have his mask or katana sheaths on.

"Mikey? What's wrong?" Mikey shook his head, clasping his hands behind his back. Leo's demeanor softened as he stepped back, opening the door wider. "Come on in." His little brother brightened, tiptoeing into the room. Leo chuckled under his breath, closing the door.

Mikey gingerly sat down on the bed, crossing his legs. He started down at Fallyn's sleeping face. He licked his lips before biting his bottom one. "Leo? Is she ever gonna wake up?" Leo sighed, sitting on the foot of the bed.

"Eventually. Since her ears and stripes are gone, Donnie says it should be this week." Leo had awoken two days ago to see the tiger ears and markings had disappeared, Fallyn's normal appearance reestablished. Since then, the comatose girl's sleep had gotten progressively lighter, signaling an approaching awakening.

"That's good." Mikey's voice snapped Leo out of his thoughts. He looked up to see his littlest brother gently playing with Fallyn's hair. After April had given Fallyn a bath, cleaning her skin of any remaining crust of dead skin and dried blood, and clothing her in what she said were Fallyn's favorite pj's, Mikey had insisted her hair be taken out of its ponytail so he could wash it. He had then spent the next hour shampooing, conditioning, combing, and cleaning the silver-white-and-black strands till there was no trace of blood or grime.

Since then, Mikey practically took over monitoring Fallyn's condition while she slept: refiling the IV pack, adjusting the needle (which was probably most surprising of all since the youngest was deathly afraid of needles), making sure that, when he wasn't by her side, someone else was, and ensuring she didn't get bedsores by massaging her back. Leo and his other brothers never realized before this how responsible the goofball of the group could be until now.

"I miss her. I mean, I miss talking with her, and seeing her smile and laugh and beat Raph up in sparring and…" his pale green head dropped. Leo reached out, laying a hand on the bald scalp.

"It'll be okay, Mikey. Fallyn will be okay." When baby-blue eyes met sapphire, Leo smiled. "How about I help you make breakfast?" Mikey fervently shook his head, jumping off the bed.

"No way. No offense bro, but your breakfasts are horrible. I'll come get you when grub is done." The nunchaku-wielding ninja skipped out of the room, his normal cheer somewhat restored. Leo smirked after him.

"Yes sir."

Donnie picked up a plate of eggs and bacon. Soon after April had arrived, she had traded places with Leonardo, allowing the eldest ninja to make a now-rare appearance at the breakfast table. "I'll take this to April." His brothers nodded. The scientist slowly made his way to Leo's bedroom, careful to not spill anything.

He had just opened the door when April gasped. Quickly putting the plate on the couch, he ran over to his crush's side. His own red-brown eyes widened at the sight. Sparing a glance at April, he tore out of the room.

Leo looked up in shock when Donatello came barreling into the kitchen. The leader jumped up, fearing the worst. "Donnie?! What's-"

"SHE'S AWAKE!" A huge grin split Donnie's face. "Fallyn's awake! Come on! Come on come on come on!" Mikey pushed passed everyone, practically flying to Leo's room, his brothers hot on his heels. Splinter shot out of the dojo, pausing at the doorway of the bedroom.

On the bed, sitting up, was Fallyn. Her golden eyes swept from one member of the family to another, eventually landing on her sister. A soft smile played with her chapped lips. "Hey April." Tears streamed down the redhead's face as she buried her head in Fallyn's neck, her arms around the whitette's shoulders.

"Hey sis." April started laughing to herself. "You're awake. You're okay." Fallyn nodded, flinching when she tried to reciprocate the hug. Instead, she nuzzled April's ear, purring softly.

"Yeah. I'm here, I'm here." Another sniffle made the whitette look up. Mikey's blue eyes were wet, his orange mask becoming damp. Fallyn smiled at him, motioning with her head for them to come over. The turtles did, circling the girls.

Mikey crawled onto Fallyn's lap, burying his face in her cotton-clothed chest, mindful of her underlying bandages. Donnie rested a hand on her left arm, his own mask darkening. Raph settled behind the girls, wrapping his arms around Fallyn's shoulders. He rested his forehead on Fallyn's left shoulder, not caring for once that everyone was seeing the hothead's sentimental side. Leo followed Raph's lead, wrapping his arms around the whole group. Splinter came in, patting Fallyn's unbroken leg. His own eyes were glassy.

"Welcome back, my child. We have all been most worried about you." Fallyn snorted softly, letting her guard down as Raph's arms tightened around her. She relaxed into his plastron.

"I'm sorry guys. I didn't mean to worry you." She looked at each of them, rubbing her cheek on Raph's head to compensate. "Are you guys healing okay?" Leo nodded.

"We're fine." He gently ran a finger along her jawline. "We're just glad you're back." Mikey removed his head from Fallyn's chest to glare at her.

"Don't ever scare us like that again!" he scolded. "You were asleep for almost three weeks!" Fallyn's eyes widened slightly. To the others surprise, she sighed.

"I'm so, so sorry guys. I honestly didn't think that my wounds were that bad." Splinter squeezed her leg before letting go.

"It's in the past, child. Now…" his sons looked at him, "I think Fallyn would like to breathe sometime today." Raph's eyes narrowed, but he let go of Fallyn nonetheless. He kept a hand on her shoulder blade though, discretely rubbing circles on her shirt with his thumb. Leo leaned back onto his knees, while Don let his hand drag down Fallyn's arm till it rested in his own lap. Mikey, on the other hand, didn't budge. No one had the heart to make him do otherwise.

"I need to go get some stuff from my lab." Don got off the bed. He looked around the room. "Anyone want to help?"

"I will." April stood up, Leo following her lead.

"As will I." As the others left, Mikey resolutely stayed by Fallyn's side.

"I'm not moving." Splinter nodded, before glancing at his second oldest. Raph looked down at Fallyn, who was still leaning on his plastron.

"Do you want me to leave?" She shook her head, her eyelids drooping slightly.

"No. You're kind of the only thing keeping me sitting up right now." Raph smirked to himself, shifting so he was more comfortable. Which ended up with his legs being on either side of her body and his arms around her waist. He frowned when he felt her ribs poking through her skin when he rubbed his thumbs on her side.

'She's lost a lot of weight if her sides are feeling like that through her shirt and bandages.' Fallyn didn't seem to mind his touches, instead leaning her whole weight on him.

"Thanks, Raph." His frown lifted into a soft smile. He tilted his head to lean his temple on hers.

"Anytime." Splinter left, closing the door behind him. Mikey scooted over so he was on Fallyn's left. He stared up at her with puppy dog eyes.

"Can I ask you something?" Fallyn smiled at him.

"Sure, Mikey. What is it?" Mikey blushed, pronouncing his freckles even more.

"Well… um…" He took a deep breath. "I was wondering if I could call you Onēchan." He timidly looked at Fallyn. To his surprise and pleasure, she nodded.

"Of course you can Mikey." A huge smile spread across his green face, making his baby-blue eyes sparkle. He flung his arms around her neck, encompassing his brother accidentally.

"Thank you thank you thank you!" Fallyn giggled at the energetic turtle, nuzzling the side of his head like she had done with April. Mikey giggled, pulling back. "That tickles." Fallyn smirked at him. Just then, the door opened to reveal Donnie, April, and Leo, all of whom had their arms full of equipment.

"Okay. April and Leo? Set that stuff on the desk. I'll need you to move Mikey." The youngest ardently shook his head.

"No. I'm staying with Onēchan." The others blinked several times, but didn't question him. Don sighed.

"Fine. I need to check her right foot anyways. Raph, move your foot." The hothead complied, letting his leg drop off the side of the bed. He kept his grip on Fallyn's waist though, holding her steady. Don gently prodded her leg, making mental notes whenever she flinched. April sat on the couch, picking up and eating the food Don had left for her earlier.

Leo leaned against the desk, his arms crossed over his plastron. Upon reentering the room, he noticed that Raphael hadn't moved from his spot as he had. Instead, his younger brother had shifted so that Fallyn rested on his chest completely, and was holding her in an almost intimate embrace. Leo's cerulean eyes narrowed at the smug glance Raph sent his way as soon as he set the equipment down. It was unnoticed by everyone else, who had their gaze trained on Don, who was intent on seeing to Fallyn's injuries. Leo growled to himself. 'What was that about?'

Raph mentally smirked when Leo leaned against his desk. Making sure no one was looking but him, Raph shot a smug look at his leader. It only became smugger when Leo pulled an expression of confusion. 'You have no idea how you feel about her, do you Fearless?' The hothead looked back down at the girl in his lap. She was answering Donatello's questions, but he could tell she was tiring. Raph growled to himself, making sure no one heard it.

'Just my luck you're sleeping in his room instead of mine, Fallyn.' The second oldest ninja shifted his position when Fallyn winced, ensuring she was comfortable as she continued to lean on him for support. 'Lean on me for support…' Raph let his lips turn up in the smallest of smirks when the girl sighed, resting more of her body weight on him. Her head rested in the crook of his neck, her forehead pressed against his neck as her body temperature, now that she was awake, began to rise to its normal levels. The warmth seeped into Raphael's plastron, permeating his whole being.

'She may be sleeping in Leo's room, but she's not going to be sleeping all the time now.' Raphael leaned his head ever so softly rest on Fallyn's, his cheek barely touching the top of her head. He let his gaze flick towards Leo before returning to Fallyn when her wince was slightly greater this time. He rubbed her left side, mindful of the hidden bandages. He was rewarded with an almost inaudible purr of thanks.

As he remembered what April had told them, or rather didn't tell them, what she had said to Leo after meeting Pete… Raph knew exactly what he needed to do. 'That's how I'm going to get closer to Fallyn. I'll be there for her. Don's going to help heal her body, but I'm going to heal her heart.'

Yeah, yeah. Shorter than the other chapters I know. But I couldn't think of a better way to end this chapter.

Fallyn's Revealed Powers: Telekinesis, Enhanced Hearing and Smell, Retractable Claws, Healing, Firebending

Her appearance changes are not a power. They are a side effect of – *Slams hands over mouth* *Winces while removing hands*
Ow. That hurt. Jeez Tatsu. Keep a lid on it girl! That's twice now you've almost revealed the secret!
Yes I said secret and no I'm not going to say what it is because that is the point of it being a secret. You're not supposed to know until I tell you.
In the story.
Gihehe.

Anyways, I decided that Raph needed a little love. To be perfectly honest, I'm a HUGE fan of the Raph/OC/Leo love triangle. I think it's ADORABLE! *Said in sing-song voice* I actually got the idea of the OC sharing a room with one of the guys from Sublime Echo's story Runaway. (Awesome story, and thank you for reviewing my piece of crap by the way) If you haven't read her story and it's sequel Recollection,

GO READ THEM NOOOOOOWWWWWWW!

Thank you!

Again, doesn't take place in an episode. One of the reason's this is so short is because it's sort of a filler. For a filler. Anyways….

Next chapter, "Sais, Swords, and Songs".
