Paige's Pov-
After Pam got shot Emily was devastated. Once the ambulance picked Pam up I drove Emily to the hospital on my motorcycle. Once I got to the hospital Emily was told she had to sit in the waiting room since Pam was in surgery.
Now Emily was lying on a sofa resting her head on my lap and I was awake stroking her hair gently so I wouldn't wake her up. Nurses had been coming and going for hours but no one had any updates on Pam's condition.
I looked down on Emily who was still asleep. I looked at her feeling worried that A night send Deathstroke to try to capture her again. I didn't knew why A wanted them but I was going to find out even if it meant getting the answers straight from Deathstroke himself.
When Emily was in the hospital I had called her friends and told them what had happened and I also asked Caleb and Spencer to try to find out why A would want Pam and Emily.
I noticed that Emily saw starting to wake up and I kept looking at her as she opened her eyes.
"Hi" She said with a soft voice still lying on my lap.
"Hi." I said back.
"Anything about my mom?" Emily said.
"She is still in surgery, the doctors haven't been able to give any updates on her situation." I said.
Emily looked down in sadness.
"Hey, Pam is strong. She'll pull through this." I said as I kissed the back of Emily head.
Emily sobbed and I felt her nod.
"Em, there is something I'd like to ask you?" I said.
"What is it`" Emily said as she sobbed.
"I wonder if you'd like to move in with me… until Pam is out of the hospital." I said.
Emily looked back at me and she looked like she didn't knew what to answer.
"I don't think I can be alone tonight." Emily said.
"You're not going to." I said and used my thumb to brush away a tear from Emily's face.
"Can you please just stay here with me… until the doctors tells me… anything about my mom?" Emily asked.
"Of course, I'll stay here with you." I said, I'd stay in the waiting room with Emily for the rest of my life if I had to.
We kept waiting and after a few minutes Emily's friends arrived. They sat down with Emily and I and they seemed to not really know what to say. After a while Spencer walked up to Emily and hugged her and the other girls soon joined in on the hug.
"Thanks guys." Emily said and then she sat down next to me.
"Heard anything?" Aria asked.
"No, nothing." I answered.
"Hey Paige, can I talk with you for a while?" Spencer said and I looked at Emily who nodded at me to let me know it was ok. Spencer and I walked to the hallway until we were out of earshot from Emily.
"Is this about Deathstroke?" I asked.
"Yes, I still haven't found out why he wanted to kidnap Emily or Mrs. Fields but I did find some hints that he is still going to try to kidnap Emily." Spencer said.
"Are you sure?" I asked.
"Yes, Caleb and Ezra has looked for traces after him but all we've found was a torn note that said Emily's name and judging from the way her name was written he is still after her." Spencer said.
"I won't let him take Emily." I said.
"He's never going to give up." Spencer said.
"He'll have to kill me before he even outs his hands on Emily." I said feeling my anger building up.
"We need to find him before he strikes again." Spencer said,
"I know but…" Spencer said then she looked at something behind me and when I looked behind me I noticed that Emily was walking towards me.
"I'll do it, I'll move in with you." Emily said.
"Are you absolutely sure?" I asked hoping I wasn't forcing her to move in with me.
"Yes, I don't want to be alone. I can't be alone." Emily said.
"Ok, we can got to your place and get your stuff and then…"
"No! No I'm not ready to go back there." Emily said.
"Ok, Aria and I can get your stuff." Spencer said.
"Yeah, that sounds good. Can we leave now?" Emily asked.
"Sure I'll call a cab." I said and then I took out my cellphone and called for a cab who came and picked up Emily and I. once we were at my mansion I followed Emily upstairs.
"There are many guestrooms here if you want privacy." I said.
"I'd rather be in your room with you." Emily said, she was sounding like she was sad but wasn't going to cry.
I followed Emily to my room where she sat down on the bed and I sat next to her.
"This isn't fair." Emily said.
"I know." I said.
"How did you react? When he killed both your parents?" Emily asked.
"I was devastated.' I answered.
"It was the worse day in my entire life. I was willing to do anything to get them back." I said as I remembered how I was when I became an orphan.
"My aunt started to take care of me and she did a good job, but she couldn't entirely replace my parents." I said.
"When did you decide to become Batgirl?" Emily asked.
"When I was 10 I started to practice self-defense so I could protect myself and the once I loved. Then when I heard that A was the one that had hired Deathstroke I asked my aunt and she told me everything about A, so then I started to give up and one night I tried to run away but I got lost in a forest and then I saw something that I was terrified by." I said.
"And what was that?" Emily asked.
"Bats." I answered and Emily looked surprised at me.
"I know it sounds unbelievable but I was terrified of bats long before my parents was killed. But after the night when I was lost in the forest I noticed the bats and I still thought they looked scary but I wasn't afraid of them anymore." I said.
"Then… when I had gotten back home I thought that I'd make A be afraid of me just like I used to be afraid of bats." I said.
"Then I started to train, I learn to fight and defend myself, I learn about the equipment the my parents company developed and I learnt to hide my fear I knew it was going to take a very long time but when I was ready I would start to fight A." I said and Emily threw her arms around me like a baby holding its teddy bear.
"How did it go? Your first night as Batgirl." Emily asked.
"You should know, it was the night I saw you for the first time." I answered.
Emily looked back at me looking like she was staring at something.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"Nothing at all." Emily answered. "I feel so safe when I'm around you." She continued.
I smiled back at her and softly kissed her forehead. Even when Emily is at her worse I loved her more than I could describe.
"My hero." Emily said as I wiped away some tears.
"Are you hungry?" I asked.
"A little." Emily answered.
"Ok, I'll get you a sandwich." I said and went downstairs for a few seconds and made Emily a grilled cheese that I brought back to her in a few minutes.
"Thank you." Emily said as she started to eat, apparently she didn't noticed how hungry she was until she took the first bite. She finished the sandwich very quickly, I thought for a while that she was going to choke.
"I'm sorry, I haven't eaten since…" Emily started but she was about to start cry again.
"It's ok Em, I know." I said and Emily nodded.
"I think I should get some rest." Emily said and I nodded.
"Can you stay here and hold me?" Emily asked as she leaned down in my bed.
I nodded and helped Emily to get under the cover then I crawled into the bed and held Emily in my arms looking right into her eyes.
"There is nothing I wouldn't do to protect you." I said and Emily smiled as she closed her eyes and I watched her as she fell asleep.
The next morning:
I had stayed in bed with Emily the whole night, I had fallen asleep at some point after midnight and I had just awaked. Now I was watching Emily, she still looked sad and I didn't blamed her. I knew there was nothing I could do about Pam but I had promised Emily to do anything to protect her and that was a promise I was going to keep.
Emily slowly opened her eyes.
"Morning." I said and Emily was looking like she was trying to decide if she should get up or try to fall asleep again.
"I'll go downstairs and make you some breakfast." I whispered into her ear and then I kissed her forehead making her smile briefly.
I sneaked downstairs as quietly as I could, in case Emily would try to get back asleep. I went to the kitchen and I opened the fridge, luckily the fridge was full of food since it was easier to get food from the stores now when A wasn't controlling Rosewood.
When I had prepared the breakfast I put it on a tray and walked upstairs Emily was still in the bed, she was on her side and had her eyes wide opened.
"This bed is comfortable, I've never felt like I've appreciated it before." She said.
I put the tray on my desk and sat next to Emily.
"I think the bed knows you appreciate it." I said as I started to rub Emily's back.
"I know, but I never said it and once day this thing might be gone and I want it to know I really appreciate everything it's been doing for me." Emily said.
"This isn't about the bed." I said as Emily sat up leaning her back against me and I put my arms around her, holding her close to me.
"I don't want her to die… I just can't lose her." Emily said and started to sob.
I gently kissed the top of her head. "She'll make it." I said.
"How do you know?" Emily asked and looked back up at me.
"I just know." I said, and I didn't just said it because it's what Emily needed to hear, I really believed that Pam was going to make it.
"Has the hospital called?" Emily asked.
"No, but we can go there if you want." I said.
"I don't know, I just don't know." Emily said.
"You don't need to. I'm right here for you." I said.
Then we sat like that for a very long time, we didn't move until Emily's cellphone started to ring.
Emily slowly got up and answered it.
"It's from the hospital." Emily said to me as she was talking on the phone.
"I looked closely at Emily, paying attention to how she talked and her expression so I'd know if she got good or bad news.
When Emily hanged up her phone she looked at me and said. "They said she'll be in a coma and they were not sure when she'd wake up, but she is stabile now and she won't die." Emily said.
I could see that Emily wasn't overjoyed with those news but at least hearing that Pam was going to survive seemed to make her feel slightly relieved and right now that counted for a lot.
I looked at Emily who smiled a little.
"How are you?" I asked.
"I'm feeling a bit better now that I know she'll survive." Emily said.
"Do you want to visits her?" I asked.
"Yes, but maybe I should eat something first." Emily said and walked to the breakfast tray I had made for her, it was good to see that she was getting her apatite back, she wasn't completely better but now she was getting there.
