Chapter 61: Only One Monster

Emily's Pov-

"Hi it's me." I said to my mom at the hospital. She was still in a coma but I liked to talk to her, it felt like she could still hear me.

"These last few days haven't been easy but I got Paige being there for me every day." I continued. Despite my mom being in a coma I felt lucky that I had Paige.

"Mom, there is something I want to tell you, but I don't think I can." I said as I thought about Paige's secret, I knew I shouldn't tell it but I've been keeping it from my mom for so long.

"Mom, Paige is…" I said before I stopped myself. "She's my everything." I said in case my mom would hear me.

I didn't know what else to say, I just gave my mom's hand a squeeze. "I miss you." I said to my mom before the doctors came in and told me the visiting hours where over and I had to leave. I looked out through one of the windows and saw that it was starting to get dark outside.

I walked out of the hospital and I saw Paige standing there waiting for me.

"Have you been standing there for long?" I asked.

"Just less than one hour." Paige said.

"You know you could have met me inside." I said.

"I know, but I didn't want to bother you when you talked to Pam." Paige said.

"So, is there a reason why you're here now?" I asked.

"Wanted to take my girlfriend on a date." Paige said.

I blushed slightly since Paige really surprised me when she said that word, I couldn't remember the closest thing she and I had to a date, but our relation hadn't really been like most other couples.

"Are you asking me out?" I asked.

Paige smiled and said "Emily, will you go out with me?"

I couldn't help but blush as Paige almost flirtingly asked that question.

"Yes, Paige. I will go out with you." I said.

"Good, because I've already booked a table." Paige said.

"Where?" I asked.

"Over there." Paige said as she took one step to the left and pointed to the Brew that was right across the street.

We walked in and a waiter showed us to our table.

"It must have been ages since I've last been here." I said as we sat down.

"I actually don't remember that waitress showed you to your table." I continued.

"Well, they don't, I paid her twelve bucks to do it." Paige said.

"That's a big tip." I said.

"Well, if she knew who I was she'd probably tried to haggle me for more bucks." Paige said.

"Downside to being rich." I said as we got our menus.

Paige nodded and we ordered our foods and when the waitress left I couldn't help but giggle a little.

"What is it?" Paige asked.

"Just the irony, I mean you're pretty much a girl version of Tony Stark when it comes to money but you never have any huge parties or anything and you're dating me, just a plain girl." I said and Paige reached out and gave my hand a gentle squeeze.

"Emily, you're not just a girl and to me you'll always be more than that." She said and we both smiled.

"But if we break up I'll probably take a private jet and live like Jimmy from Grandfathered." Paige said and we both laughed.

"So you're taking the night off from… you know?" I asked.

"Yes, I've turned off my cellphone, tonight it's just you and me and nothing is going to bother us." Paige said.

Then the door opened, and Toby and Spencer ran in.

"There you are!" Spencer shouted.

"I spoke too soon." Paige mumbled as Spencer and Toby ran up to us.

"What is it?" Paige asked.

"Keep your phone turned on and you'd know that there is a huge emergency going on." Spencer said.

"Last night you said that about a mugging, that the police had under control." Paige said.

"This is serious, look." Toby said and held up his phone so both Paige could see.

"I got this form the bat computer, it happened less than an hour ago." He said as he held up the phone for Paige to see and I moved up next to her so I could see. It was an airship that crashed into a river.

"Whoa…" I said as Toby rewind it and showed it again. This time I could see what they were talking about, it was an air ship that had a fire coming out from its right side engine and slowly going down.

"It crashed in the lake just a few seconds ago." Toby said.

"Oh, god." I gasped as I thought off all those poor people aboard that airship.

"I have to get there; some could still be alive." Paige said and I could see in her eyes that she hated to leave me, but this was a matter of life or death.

"There is more." Toby said and Paige and I looked up to him wondering what else there could be.

"That was a prison airship, they only use that to transport a large amount of criminals or someone really dangerous." Spencer explained.

"Or both." I said feeling more worried about the prison staff.

Paige had that look she had in her eyes before she'd charge right into action but then she stopped herself midway in standing up, she looked at me disappointed in herself.

"Em, I'm…"

"I know, it's ok. Really." I said knowing completely what Paige was going to say.

The waitress walked up to our table with our food and Page looked at her and said "I'm sorry but we'll have to have the food to go, there has been a change of plans."

Then when the waitress left to get a bag for our food Paige looked back and said "At least I'm going to treat you to a dinner." Paige said as she got her wallet to pay for the dinner.

Paige's Pov-

A few minutes later:

Toby had driven all of us back to my mansion. Spencer had told me everything about the ship, it has just crashed in the lake a far bit away from town, the larger part of the ship was under the water but it was still floating and it wasn't taking in water anymore so it wasn't going to sink entirely.

We got into my mansion where Caleb and Hanna was, Caleb was already wearing his Nightwing suite.

"What took you guys so long?" He asked.

"It took longer than I thought to find the two lovebirds." Spencer said.

"Hey, is that food?" Hanna asked and pointed to the bags that Emily and I was holding with the food I had bought from the Brew, I handed Hanna my bag before she'd start to beg for it, it wasn't like I was going to have any time to eat it now. I ran down to the bat cave and started to put on my bat suite.

"The Bat plane is all fixed up from the last time we used it." Caleb said once I had put my bat suite on.

"Good, let's hope this flight will go better than the last time." I said, I remembered almost too well the last time I flew the Bat plane into the cargo plane that almost killed me.

"Hey, where do I sit?" Toby asked as Caleb and I started the Bat plane.

"Sorry, this is a two-person transport." I Caleb said.

"Oh, come on guy, I've trained and I'm just as good at fighting as you or Ezra is." Toby said.

"I know you are, and that's why I'm leaving you here, to protect Emily if I wouldn't make it back." I said to take Toby's mind off the fact that he was getting left behind.

Caleb climbed into the Bat plane and I walked up to Emily and kissed her. "I won't be gone too long." I said.

"I know; I'll be waiting for you." Emily said then I got into the cockpit and flew the Bat plane to the crashed airship.

"You know; I can drive this too." Nightwing said.

"No you can't." I said.

"Come on, Batgirl." I flew this back to the bat cave the night you almost died." Nightwing said.

"Actually, it was on autopilot the entire flight." I said.

"Fuck, I thought I flew this myself." Nightwing said sounding grumpy.

"Relax, one day I might let you fly this." I said.

"Not without me controlling this." Oracle said over the comm link.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Nightwing asked.

"That I can control the Bet plane from here with the computers." Oracle said.

"So uncool Spencer." Nightwing said and folded his arms.

"Relax, both of you. We're almost there." I said over the comm link.

"Ok, I've scanned the ship and there are two possible entrances, one service hatch on top of the ship and one through a large whole on the ship caused after the crash." Oracle said.

"Ok, we'll take both entrances and cover more ground." I said as I saw the ship and then I placed it in hover mode next to the big whole so Nightwing could climb aboard then I flew to the hatch and climbed into it.

"Oracle, try to land the Bat plane close by in case we'll need a quick getaway." I said over the comm link.

"Will do." Oracle said.

"And, be careful." I heard Emily's voice over the comm link.

"Are everyone watching us?" Nightwing asked.

"Yes, there is nothing else on TV." Toby said.

"This isn't a TV-show guys, this is serious." Nightwing said.

I looked around and I was that the ship was almost torn apart inside, there was also some small fires aboard the ship.

"I'm moving in further, I'll see you inside." I said to Nightwing over the comm link as I walked in having to pry a door open. The ship looked far worse the further in a got and I saw it was mostly flooded on the inside. I kept looking around for some survivors but I just saw a few dead bodies, most looked like they had died in the crash.

"Nightwing…" I said over the comm link when I suddenly heard someone coughing. "Wait I think I've found something." I said and ran towards the coughing.

"Help… help me." I heard the voice say, it wasn't too distant but it took me a while to find where the voice came from, it was a guard that was sitting leaned against a wall, he was injured but his injuries didn't look too severe.

I walked up to him to find out what he knew.

"The ship crashed, what happened?" I asked.

"Khan. Croc… whatever he is. He escaped from his cage, ripped the engine in pieces… he is still in here Batgirl. He is hunting us." The guard said.

"Don't worry, you'll be safe. Just find a place to hide and I'll make sure someone comes to get you once I've dealt with Croc." I said.

I kept moving further in the ship being on high alert since Killer Croc could be anywhere.

"Nightwing, the ship was holding Noel Khan, he is on the lose." I said over the comm link.

"Figures, I found a guard… well half of one." Nightwing responded.

"Keep moving, we have to find him fast." I said over the comm link.

"Heads up you guys, there are more criminals aboard that ship and they might not be too happy to see either one of you." Oracle reminded me.

"Yeah, and I think Croc is the biggest threat for everyone on this ship." I said.

"I know you're confident but you're literary going to fight a monster." Toby said.

"I've beaten him before and I can do it again." I said.

I kept moving and saw a prisoner who still was in his cage. I walked up to him and he looked traumatized.

Once he saw me he jumped back and almost yelled "Don't send me back there… no more tests!"

I wondered what he was talking about, but I didn't really had time to question him now.

"Stay in your cell, I'll get you out later." I said.

"No! No more, I can't take it anymore." He said, he really seemed spooked.

I fried my grapping hook to get to higher ground to make sure Killer Croc wouldn't jump out of the water and ambush me.

As I kept searching I could hear someone say "Here, piggy piggy piggy." I knew it wasn't Croc but I couldn't ignore it I quickly glided down as saw a group of prisoners that had cornered a guard, he was locked into a cell that was flooding and I knew that if the cage would be filled with water Croc would break into that cage like nothing and snack on that guard.

I landed in front of the prisoners and they all jumped back. "No, not her, anyone but her." A prisoner screamed as I walked up to them.

One ran up to me with a shiv but I just grabbed his wrist and he instantly dropped the shiv in fear. I threw a punch right to his face so he fell unconscious to the ground.

The other prisoners backed off but they could still try to jump me and I knew it.

I turned my back to the prisoners and started to open the cell.

"Look out behind you!" The guard shouted, a prisoner was trying to attack me from behind, but I was planning on it I dodged under his punch and slammed his head into the cells wall and he was knocked out. I continued to attack by jumping up to the next two prisoners and before they had any time to react I bashed both their skulls together so the fell to the floor then I looked to the last one who had just noticed a gun that was on the ground he ran towards it but as soon as he grabbed it I kicked his jaw so he fell back on the floor.

With all the prisoners knocked out I walked up to the cell and opened it, letting the guard out.

"Thank you. I didn't think I was going to survive." He said as he walked out.

"You had Croc imprisoned in here, why?" I asked.

"All I know is that it was a bad idea. Rhys Matthews was playing with fire." The guard said.

"Do you know where anyone else is trapped?" I asked.

"I saw warden Matthews here before the crash. You better hurry with that thing in here." The guard said and sat down breathing exhausted.

"I'll get to him in time, you wait here." I said and I continued through a slightly opened door and that's where I saw another guard, this one was under a grate holding on for his life.

I opened the grate and helped him up.

"Thank you Batgirl, we need to leave right now." He said.

"Where is the warden?" I asked.

"He locked himself in there." The guard said.

As I walked towards the door the guard said. "Batgirl, I was just following orders I didn't knew what they were really doing." He said.

I hacked the locked door and got in where the warden was standing trying to pry a door open.

"Thank god you're here we need to get out of here." He warden said.

"Noel Khan must be apprehended." I said.

"Let this fucking place sink with everyone in it. You've got…" The warden said and then Killer Crock jumped through a wall, he looked different from the last time I had seen him. He was taller, he was scalier and he had even grown a more crocodile like back and he had also grown a long tail.

Before I had any time to react his tail hit me and the force made it feel like I just got hit by a train. I looked up and Croc roared at me as he grabbed warden Rhys Matthews he ran out of the room and jumped up on a railing and ran away holding the warden. I ran after Croc and fired my grappling hook to keep up with him, Croc had just run through a door that locked behind him, this door was huge and it was also reinforced enough to handle my explosive gel.

I turned on my tracking beacon and called Nightwing over the comm link.

"Nightwing make your way to my location, Croc got the warden." I said.

"I'm on my way." Nightwing said.

Suddenly all other doors around me opened and all the prisoners who was inside them got out and surrounded me.

"Need help?" I heard Nightwing ask and when I turned around I saw he was standing right behind me.

"Let's do this." I said then we attacked the aggressive prisoners I threw some batrangs at some of the prisoners and Nightwing smacked one with his electric nightstick and then he kicked another hard to the head. As a third prisoner tried to attack him from behind I quickly ran up to him and once he noticed me my fast was only a few inches from his face.

"Thank." Nightwing said as he noticed the guy I had knocked out.

"You've never been good at watching your back, so I'm doing it for you." I said. As we stood back to back surrounded by the rest of the prisoners we both knew they didn't stand a chance against us.

Emily's Pov-

Spencer had managed to activate a video cam that she had planted in both Paige's and Caleb's suites so we could see what they could see.

"This is better than any action movie I've ever seen." Toby said.

"It's real life and not a movie." I said.

"You're right. It's just… they are kicking all kinds of asses." Toby said impressed with what he saw.

"I guess you're not as good at fighting as you said." I pointed out.

"I had no idea they were that good." Toby said.

When the fight was over Hanna walked up to us, she didn't look to well.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"My water just broke." Hanna said.

"What!" Spencer, Toby and I shouted at the same time.

"Toby, call 911." Spencer said and Toby quickly ran upstairs.

"Emily, help me get Hanna upstairs." Spencer said but as we were about to help Hanna up the stairs she started to push us away.

"No, I can't do this. I can't give birth without being married." Hanna said.

"You can't get married now, Caleb isn't here and we don't even have a priest." Spencer said.

"I don't care, I'm not giving birth without being married, I won't have a bastard child." Hanna said.

"Ok, hang on I think I got an idea." Spencer said and then she reached Caleb on the comm link and said. "Caleb, don't freak out but Hanna wants to get married, now."

"What?" Caleb said confused as Spencer went to a website and then she printed a document that she handed to me.

"Here, sign this." She said and I read that it was from one of those online sites that gave you a certificate to become a minister.

"Caleb, Hanna is about to give birth, you just need to say yes." Spencer said

"Exalted minister of the Internet Church of Mammals?" I read and looked confused at Spencer.

"Just sign it." Spencer said and I did what she said.

"Ok, Hanna, do you…"

"YES!" Hanna screamed as she held her stomach.

"Ok, Caleb will you take..."

"YES!" Caleb also answered through the comm link.

"By the power investigated in me by an internet church of mammals I hereby pronounce you man and wife, you may now kiss… you can kiss when you meet." I said.

"Ok, now you're married, let's get you to the ambulance." Spencer said and then she and I helped Hanna up the stairs to the ambulance.

Paige's Pov-

"What was that about?" I asked.

"It's Han, she is about to give birth and she wanted to get married." Nightwing said.

"You should get to the hospital; I can handle Croc on my own." I said.

"But how will I get back to Rosewood?" Nightwing asked.

I got a remote from my belt and pressed a button and said. "Use the Bat plane it's where you got it, once I'm done with Croc I'll come after you." I said and Caleb hugged me before he ran way.

I turned to the locked door and started to look for a way to get it opened. I looked around and saw a control room, I walked up to it and found a fuse box that went to the security door. I started to rewire the fuse box until the power went out and then when the backup power kicked in the door opened and I went through it.

I walked into a room that looked like a surgery room from a horror movie with a lot of gore. I found some research papers that was signed by warden Rhys Matthews, he had chased Killer Croc down and once they had captured Croc they performed experiments on him trying to weaponize his condition, then they used other prisoners as test bunnies. The trauma from the experiments had changed Croc and that's why he looked different from the last time I had seen him.

I kept reading and found out that they had cut of both Croc's hands to see just how quickly his healing ability would kick in, after just a few hours his hands had regrown.

I heard Croc's growling from the next room, saw an open went so I climbed into it so I wouldn't get detected when I enter the room.

I saw Croc, he was holding the warden up against a wall with one hand.

"You… made it worse… FIX IT NOW!" Croc growled.

"I can't, your trauma made it irreversible." Rhys cried.

"LIAR! You won't hurt anyone anymore." Croc growled and I jumped down from the vent and Croc threw Rhys away.

"I knew you were here, Batgirl. I know your sent." He growled and then he ran towards me slamming his jaw so they made a loud sound.

Croc ran towards me; I threw a hard punch at him but he didn't even budged. His scale was just too think for me to make any damage to him. Croc snapped at me with his jaws but I just jumped out of his reach.

Croc growled in anger and then he lunged himself at me like a torpedo, I just managed to dodge him.

When Croc was back up I threw a batrang at him but he just caught it in his mouth and crushed it with his jaws.

Now I didn't know what I could do, I couldn't fight him fair sine his scales were too hard for me to hit and he was strong enough to break me in half like a twig with his hands... or jaws.

"You won't stop me… warden played Frankenstein with us." Croc said as I kept my distance as I tried to find a way to defeat him.

"Croc, you're not thinking clear." I said but he just roared and one again he launched himself at me and I couldn't do anything else then to jump aside since he was just too strong for me to go on any kind of offensive.

I threw a few more batrangs at Croc but it didn't have any effect on him.

"No more toy collar to save you." Croc said referring to the shock collar I had put on him the last time we fought, now it was gone, the warden had probably had it removed when they captured Croc.

I ran up to Croc and he threw a swing at me but I just jumped up his arm and kicked his bottom jaw making him take a step back but he recovered quickly and he quickly hit me with his tail so I fell up against a wall.

Before I had any time to get up Croc grabbed my torso pinning down one of my hands, he moved me towards his mouth and I put my feet against his mouth pushing myself away from me. I struggled against him but he was just too strong and I felt my legs starting to give up.

I felt myself getting dragged closer to Croc's opened jaws but then I reached for a broken wire that was dangling just above me, I just managed to grab it and I quickly shoved it down Croc's mouth, he got a huge shock that knocked him out. He hit the ground hard, he was unconscious but I could see that he was still breathing slowly.

"Thank you, that monster deserves to be putted down." Rhys said.

In anger I grabbed Rhys by his collar and lifted him slightly off the ground. "There is only one monster here." I said, remembering what he did to Croc.

"You're insane! Get your hands of me!" Rhys yelled.

"You experimented on him, tortured some those men." I said feeling my anger building further.

"I'm not asking for forgiveness." Rhys said.

"I don't forgive." I said then I punched him as hard as I could, knocking him out then I went back to the control room sending a message to the police where I said it was safe and I also told them everything Rhys had done to Croc and his prisoners.

Emily's Pov-

I was at the hospital. Caleb had just arrived and the doctors showed him to the room Hanna was in as she was giving birth to their baby.

"Can you believe this is happening?" Spencer said.

"Yeah, Caleb and Hanna are going to be parents." Toby said.

"Do you guys know if it will be a boy or a girl?" I asked.

"I don't know; I think Hanna wanted it to be a surprise." Spencer said.

After a few more minutes Caleb walked out smiling. "It has happened, it's a boy… it's a boy" Caleb said and he was almost crying.

"Congratulations." Toby said and walked up to Caleb, hugging him.

"Look at you, Daddy." Spencer said and joined the hug.

"Is Hanna alright?" I asked.

"Yeah, the doctors said she needs some rest." Caleb said.

"You got any names picked out?" I asked.

"No, we haven't yet. But we will." Caleb said.

Then Caleb returned to Hanna while Toby, Spencer and I sat there in the hospital, now Aria and Ezra had joined us, but Paige had not shown up yet and that made me worried.

I left the guys to try to reach Paige on her comm link but just as I was about to try I felt a hand on my shoulder. "Emily?" I heard Paige's voice.

I turned around and saw Paige standing behind me and I hugged her tightly.

"I was worried for you." I said.

"I'm sorry about the night not going as planned." Paige said.

"Well that's something I'm just going to get used to." I said.

"Well I've been thinking and we both know I'm not going to get into college since I'm going to start working for my parents' company once I've graduated but you're going to get into a great collage, I thought I could wait that long for you but I can't anymore." Paige said and then she suddenly dropped down to one knee and pulled out a black box and she opened it and inside it there was a ring with the biggest diamond I've ever seen.

"Emily Fields, will you marry me?"
