Chapter 63: Fear

A/N: It's been too long since I updated this story but here is the next chapter. Thank you Mr A Genious for the idea on how A could fight.

Emily's Pov-

I woke up feeling instantly remembering last night, I smiled wildly and looked over to Paige who was still sleeping. I knew she was exhausted from last night but I was too excited too just watch her sleep.

"Wake up sweetie." I said as I kissed Paige's neck all the way up to her ear, Paige groaned a little before she turned to me and said "Good morning."

"Just good?" I asked teasingly.

"Nothing is just good when you're around." Paige said and I blushed.

"You're such a dork." I said.

"You know you love it." Paige said.

"Yes, I do." I said and kissed Paige softly.

We stayed in bed like that for a while then Paige looked at me and said "What do you want to do today?"

"I like to visit my mom. You can come with me if you want." I said.

"Ok, let's go." Paige said and got out of bed and started to get dressed. I smiled and got dressed as well.

We got to the hospital and my mom was still sleep. I sat down on a chair right next to her and Paige stood behind me.

"Hi mom." I said. "I never thought I was going to tell you this under these circumstances but I'm engaged." I said, I preferred to give my mom good news.

"Paige and I are getting married." I said and I felt Paige's hand on my shoulder.

"I'd love it if… I want you to be there on Paige and my wedding." I said as I felt tears falling down from my eyes.

"Em." Paige said.

"I just want my mommy to wake up." I said and Paige gave me a soft comforting hug.

"I want her to…"

"I know, me too." Paige said. And after a while a nurse came in and said we had to leave.

As we got out of the hospital I wanted to just sit down for a while and I walked up to the closest bench I could see.

"She'll be up before the wedding." Paige said.

"How can you be so sure?" I asked.

"I just know." Paige said.

"Can we just say here for a while? I don't feel ready to go home yet." I said.

"Of course, I'm not in any rush." Paige said, she was so sweet I could never understand what it was about Paige but when she smiled at me all the bad things didn't seemed so bad.

"Paige, please never leave me." I mumbled into her ear.

"I wouldn't even dream about…"

Suddenly there was a loud explosion coming from behind us, we were both pushed of the bench and we fell down on the ground. I sat up and saw that the building that used to be a toy store was nothing more.

I sat there almost paralyzed from the sudden shock from the explosion. There was a ringing noise in my ears caused by the explosion.

I looked over to Paige who was still laying down looking lifeless.

"No!" I said as I crawled over to her and started to shake her trying to get her to wake up.

"PAIGE!" I screamed hoping she'd hear me.

The next night:

We were at Paige's mansion she was looking out the window like she was expecting something to happened.

After the explosion an ambulance came and picked us up and after the hospital staff had made sure we were alright we were allowed to go home.

"Paige?" I asked.

"It was A. A blow up that store." Paige said.

"You're right." I said.

"Then you know what I have to do." Paige continued.

"You're going to fight A?" I said.

"Yes, I've been stalling this for too long I'm going to fight her tonight." Paige said then she started to walk to the bat cave and I followed her.

"Paige are you sure you're just going to run out and fight A, you don't even know were yo can find her." I said.

"I'll find a way." Paige said as she started to change into her bat suit.

"At least call Spencer or Caleb or Ezra so they can help you." I said.

"No, I need to do this myself, I have to fight A alone, this has been my fight ever since my parents died." Paige said.

"Paige, please come back." I said as Paige got aboard her stealth bike.

"Don't worry, I will." She said before she drove away. I stood there watching my fiancée leaving and I prayed that she'd return.

Paige's Pov-

As I drove around Rosewood I checked after A's henchmen I knew that if A was here her henchmen wouldn't be too hard to find.

After I had driven through a few blocks I finally found a few of A's henchmen, they were standing by a van preparing to plant a bomb in another building like they had done yesterday.

I jumped of the stealth bike and I attacked them head on. I slammed one guy's head against the van so he instantly fell to the ground.

The other henchmen noticed me and they all panicked. "It's Batgirl!" One said as I tackled another one to the ground and kicked his forehead so he passed out.

Two henchmen pulled out their guns but I threw a few batrangs at them, one left a cut over the villain's face and the other got the sharp end of the batrang stuck in his arm. I quickly ran over to the both of them and slammed their heads together knocking the out.

"What the hell is going on here… Batgirl?" One last henchman said as he walked out of the van from the driver's side.

I slammed him against the van and looked him deep into her eyes.

"What the hell are you?" The man said.

"Where is A?" I asked.

"I can't she'll kill me." The henchman said so I threw a hard punch to his gut.

"A is not here, I am and you don't know me, I'm much worse." I said "Where is A?" I said once again.

"I… I don't know." The villain lied.

I dropped him so he fell on his knees and I very discreetly planted a tracer on him.

"Please don't kill me." He said as he closed his eyes but I fled and hind in the shadows before he opened his eyes and thought I had left.

He got back into the van and started to drive and I got on the stealth bike and activated the camouflage mode so I was invisible to the eyes so I could easily follow the henchman back to his lair where I'd probably find A.

The henchman drove above the speed limit trying to make sure he had lost me but I was on him like a hawk, he wouldn't get away from me.

Once he finally stopped and walked out of the van we had reached an underground parking garage.

The henchman grabbed a walkie-talkie and said. "Hey boss, we were about to plant the bombs but the bat showed up and I had to run." He said as I snaked up towards him.

"Don't worry I lost her there is no way she followed me back here." He said trying to reassure his boss but he had no idea how wrong he was.

"Ok, I'll come inside in just a few minutes just authorize my key card." He said and then he stopped talking and put the walkie-talkie in his coat pocket and pulled out his keycard about to unlock the door but I grabbed his wrist and pulled him around so he could see me.

"So you did know where A was." I said and before the henchman had anytime to explain himself I knocked him out, then I throw him into the van and sabotaged the lock in case he'd wake up.

I used the key card to gain access to the locked door.

I walked in quietly because there were no vents I could hide in so I was completely exposed if someone would see me. I kept sneaking further in until I heard some guys talking. I hide behind a nearby column and when they walked past me I sneaked up behind them and knocked them out. I kept walking further in and once I reached the bottom floor when suddenly the gate behind me closed and I saw some henchmen putting on a chain and a deadbolt lock.

"Look who is here." I heard a familiar voice say.

"The bat walked right into my trap." A said as she emerged still wearing her signature hoodie and black gloves. She walked up towards me and cracked her knuckles. "Tonight you'll die." She said as she ran towards me and I threw a right hook at her but she managed to block my punch and then she kicked my leg and threw me on the ground.

"There is no escape, just surrender and I'll make your dead quick and painless." A said but I just got up. "I never give up and today won't be any different." I said.

"Very well." A said and I quickly looked around trying to spot an exit but there was none in sight A had really thought everything through.

I kept some distance from A so I could catch her of guard with a surprise attack but as soon as I charged to her and threw a punch at her she managed to grab my wrist and slammed me onto the ground and as I tried to get up she kicked my jaw so I fell to the ground again.

"Do you think I'm a fighting armature? I've learn to read an opponent every move so I can anticipate an attack and know how to counter it." A said mocking me.

I quickly jumped up and tried to kick A but she just moved aside and threw a punch at me but this time I managed to dodge and I threw another right hook at A but she blocked that punch as well, I just quickly jumped back before A would slam me on the ground again.

"Come on girl, I expected so much more from you." A said.

"I got up and I tried once again to attack A with a flurry of punched but she managed to block all of them. "Surely you can do better." She said and I head-butted her, apparently she didn't expect that since she took a few steps back.

I ran up to A and threw another punch at her, as my fist collided with her nose she took a few more steps back and I swiped her leg so she fell down to the ground and as I was about to finish her off with one final blow to her face she rolled out of my way and she kicked me from behind so I almost lost my balance. A threw a punch and me but this time I blocked her hit with my forearm and I kicked her right knee before she could read that move.

"You bitch!" A yelled and threw an obvious punch at me that I managed to easily dodge but then I felt a sharp sting in my shoulder, I cried from the sudden pain and I dropped to my knees.

"There, that should keep you down." A said and when I looked I saw that there was a knife deep in my shoulder, A had fucking stabbed me.

I grabbed the knife and tried to pull it out but the pain was too much.

A snapped her fingers and said "Bring the barrel!" She yelled and then two henchmen opened the locked gate and came in with an oil barrel.

"You remember the acid I've collected? It's all meant for you." A said as she opened the barrel.

"This will not only burn your skin it'll dissolve you in hours all together leaving no remains. Batgirl came from nowhere and she'll disappear without a trace." A said.

Then she ordered the henchmen to carry the barrel up to me and as they walked up to me A grabbed my ponytail and pulled me up. I was too weak to fight back.

"I feel like I should say you were a worthy advisory, but I hated you like a plague." A said then she threw me onto the floor.

The henchmen lifted the barrel high and I saw my final chance to escape, I reached into my belt and grabbed a batrang and I quickly threw it at the face of one of the henchmen, he lost his grip on the barrel and the barrel fell to the floor and most of it splashed right onto A's face.

A screamed in pain as the henchmen pulled her away from the acid. "Kill her you idiots!" A yelled as I started to run, I had to escape before more of A's men would arrive. I ran as I hear gunfire coming after me. I tried to run faster but the fight had been too much for me and I felt that I was starting to faint.

"Batgirl? Batgirl are you there?" I heard Emily's voice say over the commlink.

"Help me." I said in a very faint voice then I activated my tracer.

I got out of the parking house then I couldn't run any more, I fell to my knees and I tried to crawl further as I heard A's henchmen surround me.

"Look at this, a half dead bat." One said.

"Did you really think you could get away after doing that to the boss?" Another one said as everyone moved in closer holding baseball bats, sledge hammers and other blunt weapons.

I tried to get up one last time but I couldn't, this was as fast as I could get.

I looked up and saw one guy walking up next to me holding his sledge hammer ready to strike. "Die freak." He said but then he fell to the ground.

I looked up and saw Nightwing and Flash and Toby was also standing there wearing a dark green suite with a green mask.

I looked up as the guys attacked the henchmen, Nightwing used his nightsticks to knock out some henchmen while Flash knocked down a few more and the blink of the eye and Toby fired a green projectile from his ring that knocked out several henchmen at once.

I watched them fight as I slowly passed out.

Later:

I woke up in my bed still feeling sore in my shoulder. "Hey guys, she is up!" Caleb's voice said and then Ezra, Aria, Spencer, Emily, Hanna, Caleb and Toby came in.

"What happened?" I asked.

"These three guys saved you a few nights ago." Hanna said.

"How long have I been out?" I asked.

"Almost a week." Aria said.

"And it's worse, A is still alive and now she is furious." Caleb said.

"When you melted away her face she lost her cool, she has tried to take over the town again but with us three and your tec we have managed to hold off her men." Toby said.

"That and I kept an eye on town from the bat cave since you were mostly fumbling around in the dark." Spencer said.

"Thank you guy, all of you." I said.

"Can Paige and I get some privacy?" Emily asked and everyone started to leave.

"Hey Tobias." I said to Toby.

"Yeah?" He said.

"What's your hero name?" I asked.

"Green lantern." Toby said before he and the others left my room.

I looked over at Emily and she looked very mad.

"Em, I'm so sorry about what I did." I said.

"You should, I was so worried about you, what were you thinking?" Emily said.

"I wanted to keep you safe." I said.

"By almost getting yourself killed?" Emily asked. "I almost lost you, do you know how I felt these last days, I was worried that you were dead, your injuries were so bad the doctors weren't sure they could save you." Emily said.

"Em, I wasn't thinking I…"

"You just thought you could beat A? You almost died and I can't lose any more people in my life, my heart can't take it." Emily said.

"What are you saying, are you calling of the engagement?" I asked.

"No, I'd just you to be alive when our wedding is due and for you to stay alive long after the wedding." Emily said.

"I'm sorry, I let you down and that's the worst mistake I could ever have done." I said and felt worse than awful.

"Paige, I love you, but I can't lose you." Emily said and sat down next to me.

"I just don't want to lose you… I can't lose you." Emily said.

"I fought A because I wanted to marry you in a perfect world, a world where A is gone and I don't have to be Batgirl anymore so there could be just me and you." I said.

"You did?" Emily said.

"Everything I do is for you." I said.

"Oh, Paige." Emily said and kissed me softly.

"I love you."

A/N2: I know it wasn't the Batgirl vs A fight most of you wanted but I promice you that their next fight will be the last just be patien, even if that might be too much to ask for at this point.
