Chapter 13

Chapter 13

The depths of the ocean provided a peaceful backdrop for Beast Boy's casket. The dark tranquility of the ocean caused a soothing sound of motion as the resting place of the beloved titan slowly reached the ocean floor. It hit the ground with a distinct thud that caused a few school fish to scatter away from the disturbance. The soundless ocean remained still until a giant tiger shark began to approach Beast Boy's resting place. The curious creature pushed its nose against the marble hold and then effortlessly eased over the top of it. It turned around and opened its humongous jaws above the casket and began to pick momentum to deliver a furious bite. Just as this was about to happen, the mysterious black shadow shot through the water and delivered a sharp blow. The stunned animal quickly regained its where about only to be delivered another stunning shot to its side. Quickly, the shark conceded the battle and swam away in fear. The dark shadow slowly descended back to the ocean floor next to the casket. It humanized itself into just a simple figure, faceless, featureless and practically blank. The shadow began to speak through the water and into a communication device.

"Mother I am here do you wish for me to pursue" A voice that could only be that of miss Martian returned the radio.

"Yes proceed with the plan, I need my brother's corpse." The shadow began to open the casket with much trouble, it struggled but finally succeeded with the opening of the casket floating out into the ocean deep. The shadow looked down and saw Beast Boy's lifeless corpse. His green skin lost pigmentation, makeup covered his scars from the accident and his muscles had broken down leaving looking like a shell of his former self. The shadow registered the same observations to miss Martian over the radio.

"Mother, I have it are you ready to receive"

"Yes." The shadow let out a large scram and began to regenerate matter until it was as big as a tarp. It snapped itself down onto the casket and began to absorb until it disappeared completely along with the dark shadow itself.

It had been six months since the titans split up. Raven and Cyborg were now fully committed members of Titans East. Raven having left with them minutes after Beast Boy's funeral, while Cyborg waited about a week after the fact to join his girlfriend as the co-leader of titans east. Robin was the one that pushed him to do it telling him there was nothing left for any of them in Jump City. He also recalled him breaking up with Starfire, telling her that it had to be done in order to ensure their safety. This crushed Starfire, she was upset beyond repair when it came to her friends and she left. She became a Justice League trustee and started working with different leaguers for different missions, the last Cyborg heard from her was about two weeks ago and all seemed well. She still would not discuss the emotional trauma she went through after her breakup with Robin, the wound was still too raw.

Cyborg always wondered what happened to Robin after he left, no one had heard from him, not even Batman. He completely vanished which was strange, albeit he wasn't the easiest person to get ahold of, but still the fact that he completely disappeared was odd.

Cyborg enjoyed his new gig with the Titans East as he was closer to BumbleBee, he still had Raven with him from the old team and he became great friends with Speedy and Mas y Menos. He never got around to being friends with Aqua lad but he always chalked that up to differences between humans and Atlantenians, there were times where they clicked but not like the way Aqua Lad and Raven clicked.

After Beast Boy died Raven went through possibly the darkest time of her life, worse than anything she could have ever imagined. There was a time where it wasn't the point she couldn't talk to anyone about her feelings, she couldn't talk to anyone at all. It consumed her, everything she saw, everything she looked at all she saw was his face. It was to the point where something as simple as a walking in the kitchen at her new home would bring back a memory, something so subtle and minute, like him making vegan omelet's that exploded all over the kitchen. Those cheerful memories quickly turned into fits of emotionally induced raged and the next thing she knew she would be laying on the ground with broken glass around her.

If it wasn't for the titans east, Raven probably wouldn't have made it through and she knew that. Regardless of what his intentions were, she didn't want to talk to Cyborg or Star Fire about it out of fear of reopening old wounds and she had not spoken to Robin since the night of the incident. She refused to even acknowledge the fact that they were once friends, close friends. When she thought about all they had gone through, the fights, the battles, the personal turmoil, and everything in between; how he could he not give her an opportunity to save him. It is something she still had not forgotten or forgiven him for.

Luckily she had Aqua Lad to get her through this tough time. He had taken her for a few walks on the nature trails of Steel City and a few different art museums to clear her head and it worked. She couldn't believe how far she had come because of him. She trusted him to extent but the warning that Cyborg had given about him always stayed in her head. For that reason, she kept a pretty big wall up around him but out of all of her teammates old and new, she trusted him the most.

A mission had just ended for the titans and they slowly started to enter their living room. None of them were talking as they were exhausted. It was 3 am and they had a huge fight with Dr. Light who was trying to rob another bank. He saw Raven and immediately got on his knees and begged for hand cuffs. They all were relaxing on the couch with no particular motive when Cyborg and Speedy were discussing what to put on TV.

"Yo I think the re-run of the basketball game might be on" Cyborg suggested.

"Yeah I know but I heard it was a blowout." Speedy retorted.

"futbol mi amigos!" Mas y Menos shouted out. While this discussion was taking place Raven felt her eyes getting heavy while sitting on the sofa. She slowly pulled her hood up and rotated her eyes back into her head. Next thing she knew she was asleep on the couch. A deep trance began to fall over her though, like it was more than just the normal sleep stage. Raven felt herself almost being transported to a dark cave. She was alone in the cave, staring at the unknown darkness around her. The room began to slowly light up and she could see dark shadowy figures moving around the background

"Hello?!" She called out.

"Is anyone there?" One of the dark figures slowly approached her. Raven had her defenses about her and slowly waited for it to approach.

"Raven, you're here." The figure said.

"Yes but who are you? What are you? Where am I?"

"That doesn't matter, what matters is the message you receive."

Raven felt her face warm up with nerves. "What message?"

Upon the releasing of those words the shadowy figure, the cave and everything around her began to change into a deep, underwater abyss. At the apex of that abyss was a casket resting on the waves of the ocean. Raven was underwater but she was strangely not wet, not struggling for air or did not need to swim. She did not recognize the casket and slowly began to approach it. She walked over to the structure and gazed and its marble fronting. A soft touch to it as she was trying to register what it was. Raven lifted her hand off of the structure to notice that it began to gyrate slowly, that gyration upgraded to a light shake, that light shake turned into a furious tremble.

Raven backed up in fear as the structure continued to shake, its shaking ultimately led to a full out explosion that shot the casket into thousands of pieces. Raven shielded her eyes from the blast, when the dust settled she refocused her eyes and could not believe what she was seeing.

It was Beast Boy lifeless, floating in the middle of this underwater abyss. She screamed and darted over to him, taking him into her arms.

"Beast Boy, babe its me Raven please, wake up I'll get you out of here." She began to look around for an escape plan but she could see nothing outside of her boyfriends body. It was finally hitting her what she was holding as the tears began to pour down his face and she stared upon his face. It didn't seem real, that she was actually holding him. Through her crying and disbelief she was able to push out "I love you, I've missed you so much."

There was a brief silence as she floated there holding his body but Beast Boy began to shake furiously again, his eyes opened and he shot Raven off of him and he stood straight up at attention. His eyes were glowing green and he screamed out.

"RAVEN, THE TIME IS NOW WAKE ME UP! PLEASE YOU'VE GOT TO WAKE ME UP!" Raven began feeling an extreme pressure or her shoulders and extremities as she was screaming in fear. She was throwing her body in every direction and she let out a demonic scream. She found herself on the floor of the living room with her friends pinning her down.

When she felt her eyes open she could see Cyborg and Starfire right above her face. Speedy, Aqua lad, the twins and Bee were all holding down an arm or leg. She collected her wits and asked Cyborg "What Happened?"

Cyborg removed his hands from her shoulders and sat down on the floor "You were having a nightmare Raven, you were screaming Beast Boy's name." Raven placed her hand to her temple.

"I don't remember all I heard was someone screaming wake me up." The alarm started going off in the tower as a new alert came over the TV. Miss Martian was breaking into a museum with an unknown helper. Bee was the first to give an order.

"All right, time to move everyone to the T car." The titans began to scramble as Starfire helped Raven off of the floor.

"Friend, are you sure that you are able to participate with us?" Raven nodded.

"Yeah I'll be fine." They quickly left the room and made it to the museum in no time. Inside Miss Martian was expecting their entrance.

"Yes no the fun starts." She joked to herself. The front of the building shot open as the titans filed in one by one. Raven, Cyborg and Star fire charged the front to see the person that a hand in their friends killing.

"Ne'gan please why are you a member of such evil now?" Star Fire called.

"Please Kor, for once shut your god damn mouth." Cyborg shot off a cosmic cannon blast that connected with Miss Martian's forehead.

"How about you shut yo ass up" Cybrog snapped.

As the titans began to rush her motionless body, they noticed that MM was smiling as she laid there. When they were all circled around her she snapped her head up and screamed. "NOW"

Just then a huge explosion went off and Raven felt a collar wrap around her neck, she then felt her body start to shut down. She turned around to see who had grabbed her and she saw a large winged creature on this person's chest. The next thing she knew she had green hands over her eyes and was teleported into darkness.

The smoke cleared and the rest of the titans scrambled to look for everyone.

"Does anyone have eyes on Raven?" Aqua lad screamed out. The smoked cleared and in the place was a small boomerang weapon. Cyborg immediately scanned it.

"You guys I've got a match." He shot a holographic image of a man with black tights, long hair, a winged black creature on his chest and a skinny black mask. Under this image read the words "Unkown identity." Cyborg began to scan his system until a picture of someone matched, he read out in computer tone.

"DNA match, Dick Greyson, formerly Robin now goes by new name of Night Wing."
