Nami watched as they grew closer to the Grand Line. The day had been rough and the crew had gone to bed after roughing it through the storm. However, Nami couldn't sleep. Every time her eyes closed the days events went through and if what had happened was a dream she didn't want to wake up. She sighed and looked up at the sky relieved that they had made it out of Loguetown alive. She heard someone come onto the deck and then came up behind her "I hate you."
"Nami." The voice said in mock pain, "What's wrong, you should be asleep."
Nami turned to see her captain staring at her with concern. She looked down refusing to look at him, "It's your fault I can't sleep."
"What did I do?" Luffy asked in surprise as he looked at his navigator who seemed so small and vulnerable.
Nami glared at him, "You almost died! Sanji told me how close it was! The sword was on your neck when the lightning struck, saving you. How could you let them almost kill you!"
Luffy frowned and looked at her, "Namiā¦I know I can die at anytime. We all could, but we are doing it for our dreams. I'm sorry I worried you, but I'm not going to say I won't let it happen again. I'll give you my word I won't go down without a fight, but if I die, I die."
Nami felt tears fall and then realized how much the dorky captain meant to her, "I just don't want you to die."
Luffy brought a finger under her chin and lifted her face and then brushed her tears away, "I don't plan on dying, so don't worry about it until it happens. For now, let's enjoy the stars and maybe a few tangerines."
Nami gave a short laugh as she began to dry her eyes, "You only think of your stomach."
Luffy stretched and grabbed two tangerines and presented them to her, "I think of other things too."
Nami felt blood rush to her face as she began to peel the tangerines handing one to Luffy, "Only one."
Luffy grinned and ate it quickly then grabbed a slice of hers, "And part of yours. Go to bed, Nami. We head to the Grand Line tomorrow."
Nami watched as the boy walked off and headed to his hammock before gripping her tangerine then slowly eating it. Their journey was about to begin and she had to be ready. She finished the tangerine and went to her bed and lay down. She had to be up and ready in the morning, after all, they were one step closer to achieving their dreams.
