Haruka fidgeted uncomfortably, looking down. She was dressed in a dark blue dress tonight that reached to her knees. It had two layers on the bottom- the bottom one silky smooth for her skin and the top layer made of blue lase that was ever so slightly longer than the bottom layer. The dress was sleeveless, a jewel encrusted neck band coming from the top of her dress and wrapping around her neck. It was choking her and the silver jewels scratched her neck. The dress was tight on her and the edges of the sleeve area came very close to her breasts, making her feel exposed. Tomochika had forced her into the dress weather she wanted it or not- saying something about 'showing him what he couldn't have'. Haruka blushed at the thought of their conversation.
It was dark in the restaurant, quite, jazzy music filling the air. They had arrived only a few minutes prior and their drinks had finally arrived. Ren sat across from her, sipping at his red whine. Haruka moved to pick up her glass of water, but every movement she made caused Ren to look up. She picked up the glass, feeling the condensation roll through her fingers as her fingers squeaked on the wet glass, causing her to cringe- as if everyone in the room heard the noise which increased in volume every time she moved. She pulled the glass towards her, feeling her golden bracelet set fall down her arm and give a small ding as they collided. She took a sip of the icy water, feeling the icy liquid cascade down her throat as the ice swiftly moved through the water to tap her teeth. She placed the water back down and turned her gaze to her lap again.
Ren turned away from her, staring up at the stage where a man wearing sunglasses played his sax into a mice. He let out a bored sigh, causing Haruka to lower her head. He was bored and she knew it. He found no interest in her uncomfortable antics nor did he find any amusement for them. He was disappointed in her- especially after she showed some nerve almost a month ago. He moved his glass of wine around in his hand, circling the red liquid around the sides of the glass. He had half a mind to ask for the check and leave, but he made no move to call over their waiter.
Haruka looked up to the stage as well, listening to the music. She loved music and wished to play the piano which sat idly behind the sax man. She was out of practice, but to her playing the piano was like riding a bike- once you learn, you never forget. Haruka peaked up at Ren, watching the curved of his face as he sipped his wine, the red liquid flowing down his throat, his adam's apple bobbing. Haruka looked back down, finding that watching him uncomfortable.
The waiter brought their food out, placing it in front of them. Ren raised his eyebrow, spotting Haruka's small salad. She seemed content with it, but it was hardly a serving of food for someone her age. Ren meal, on the other hand, was quite large, enough or both of them. If she had been less boring he would have offered her some, but instead he took a bite of his salmon.
Haruka was enjoying the salad she was eating- they had some special saws that brought out the flavor of the tomatoes and didn't made the croutons mushy. She didn't even mind the small surviving she was presented with, since she expected it based on the price. But Haruka couldn't stand their silence forever. Putting down her fork, she cleared her throat, catching his attention. He sat up straight, waiting for her to speak her mind.
"So... your colleague, the one who gave you that pass... does he own this restaurant?" Haruka asked quietly, bending back down to her plate quickly, as if she had offended him.
"No, he deals in business related to music. And in case you were wondering, no, it was no Hijirikawa Masato or Shinomiya Natsuki." Ren explained, answering her second question before she could even ask it. Haruka listened for more, but Ren went back to eating. Frowning, she tried to keep the conversation going.
"So what kind of music business does he do?" She asked, causing him to put down his fork again and look at her.
"He finds talent and heirs it. He also dallys in selling instruments and music compositions. He himself can play an assortment of instruments and composes quite beautiful songs." Ren said, finally picking up a conversation.
"Really? He sound talented..." Haruka smiled, taking a forkful of lettuce into her mouth.
"Well he was raised around music- it was his life since day one. Not to mention the fact that he inherited a great musical business from his parents." Ren said, taking another bit of his salmon.
"So he can play all instruments?"
"Not all, but most. But above all he likes to sing rather than play music." Ren explained, both stopping their conversation to clap as the saxophonist finished his peace and bowed. He turned off the stage and another man came on, sitting down at the piano and beginning to play, taking the lat man's place.
"He likes to sing?" Haruka asked, trying to pick up the conversation.
"Yes, he does." Ren said, going back to his meal. Haruka frowned. It was no good, the moment was gone and it wouldn't come back again. Haruka went back to her meal, finishing up her salad.
Ren put down his fork, most of the food cleared from his plate and Haruka long done. She had been sitting for a while, eyes closed, listening to the piano being played. This man who was playing had black skin and midnight black hair, dressed in a white suit to contrast his skin. Haruka was enjoying his performance very much, a small smile on her face.
"Haruka," Ren said, catching her attention. "I'm done with my meal, would you like the rest?" He offered. Haruka blushed and shook her head. Ren shrugged and called over their waiter, asking for him to bring the check. "Back home, then?" Ren said to himself, catching Haruka's ear.
"The nights young..." Ren looked up as Haruka turned her head away, blushing.
"What?" He asked, not quite sure he heard her correctly.
"N-nothing." Haruka said, packing up her purse and getting ready to leave. Ren shrugged it off, not caring too much. At least she wasn't completely boring.
