Chapter seven
"I can't believe all of the kids are finally in Hogwarts now!" Harry said smiling as he and Ginny were driving back home in their blue Ford Anglia.
They had departed from Ron and Hermione in King's Cross soon after the children had boarded the train and left on its journey to Hogwarts.
"I just don't understand what happened to Draco, though. Astoria seemed like she did not want to be anywhere near him. I just can't believe anything that happened between him and Astoria. They are happy together, aren't they?" Ginny said confused.
"I'll owl him later tonight, Gin." Harry promised.
He was talking mostly to himself, thoughts of Draco still swimming in his head. His smile slowly faded as he couldn't help but to think that he may have been the reason for why Astoria and Draco seemed so irritable. He was slightly biting the inside of his cheek as he parked into the long driveway at their house. It was a beautiful place to be, in Harry's opinion. The outside walls were slightly faded red with concrete bricks poking out randomly. The long stairway up to the house was always good exercise. The children always had fun racing each other up and down them. They had a small garden on each side of the walkway. They had a swing set on the large porch. Harry loved it. For some reason, being in this house always reminded Harry of his late godfather, Sirius.
He fumbled for his keys in his pocket as he and Ginny walked up the long stairs.
"Don't forget. Ron and Ginny are coming over for a lunch around three." Ginny said as she was walking slightly behind him.
Harry seemed to stop in his tracks as he looked up at his front door. "Gin, they may already be here." He said uncertain.
"What do you-" She stopped talking as she looked over her husband's shoulder. The door to the house seemed to be unlocked and open slightly. Harry turned to look at her.
"They can't be here already! They would have warned us before they came early; They always do." She said, eyes growing slightly bigger.
"Do you think someone broke in?" Harry asked her quietly, suddenly aware of his worst fear.
Someone could have been in his house waiting to kill him and Ginny. Someone from Voldemort's fallen army. Harry had grown used to the death threats he always receive after the death of the Dark Lord, but this was unusual. All of the Death Eaters were in Azkaban, for the most part. None of them could trace where Harry lived, with all of the protection around the house and whatnot. Ginny shook her head slightly as she looked up at Harry.
Without much thinking- or ability to think- Harry placed his hand on the slightly opened door and pushed it. He grabbed his wand from the inside of his jacket and stepped into the house. His mouth dropped open slightly at the sight in front of him.
"Harry, what is it?" Ginny asked uncertainly as she looked at the expression on his face. She peered into the house and she understood why he was so shocked.
Neither of them expected to see Draco Malfoy sitting on the couch in the living room, holding something in his hands. Harry tilted his head slightly to see what he had been staring at and to his confusion, it was a picture of Harry and Ginny at their wedding, almost sixteen years ago.
"Draco?" Harry said quietly, as to not scare him. He glanced up at Harry who was now aware of the fact that Draco had unshed tears glistening in his eyes.
"Draco, what's wrong?" He asked, sitting in the seat next to him.
Draco shook his head and kept looking at the picture.
"Do you want any tea or anything?" Ginny asked, placing a hand gently on his shoulder. Draco shook his head, silent tears falling down his face.
Harry was lost for words as he looked at his secret love interest. He didn't know what to say. In all of his years of knowing Draco, not once had her ever seen him crying. Least he say, Harry was in utter shock. He put an arm around Draco as
Ginny went off into the kitchen to make lunch.
"Draco, please tell me what's wrong?" Harry whispered as he gently took the picture away from Draco's grip. The motion seemed to snap him back and he looked into Harry's careful eyes.
"She knows, Harry. She knows."
He answered back. Harry was now aware that his lover was shaking.
He didn't know what to say. "Who? How? When?" He asked quickly, lowering his voice.
"Astoria. She knows. I don't know how the hell she found out, but she did. Last week she told me after Scorpius left to Hogwarts, she wanted me out. I told her that I wasn't doing anything, that I wasn't cheating. But she does not believe me. Potter, I have nowhere to go. The Ministry has the Manor, and I have nowhere to go." He rushed the words out all in one breath.
"Why would she think that? What about Pansy or Theo? Can't you live with them?"
At that, Draco let out a bark of humorless laughter. "Yeah, right. Pansy hates me. She believes Astoria and Theo's being a right damn prick to me lately." Draco replied coldly.
"What about Goyle?" He asked.
Draco rolled his eyes. "Ever since Crabbe died in The Room Of Hidden Things, he's hated me. He says it's all my fault. I haven't talked to him ever since that night, actually." Draco said, wiping the tears as they kept falling silently down his cheeks.
"I'm sorry, Draco. I really am." Harry said sincerely.
Draco shrugged.
"You're welcome to stay here as long as you want, Draco. We have plenty of rooms now that our kids are all at school." Ginny said as she came back into the room carrying a tray full of sandwiches. Draco smiled at her, a genuine smile at her.
"I can't be a burden to you and Harry, Ginny. I couldn't-" Draco said.
"Nonsense, Draco. Of course you can!" Harry interrupted.
Draco smiled at him.
Harry returned the smile as he took a sandwich and offered it to him.
"Do you have any clothes or do we have to get them from your house?" Harry asked, taking a bite of his sandwich.
Draco shook his head. "I need to get them from the Manor." He said, tearing a piece of meat from his sandwich and stuffing it in his mouth.
Ginny stood up. "If you like, one of us can go with you and help you."
Draco looked at Harry. "Would you?" He asked, biting his bottom lip nervously.
"Of course I would." Harry stood up. "Gin-"
"Harry, don't worry. If Ron and Hermione come round before you return, I'll let them know." She said smiling.
Harry smiled as Draco grabbed his arm and turned on the spot.
Harry looked around. He arrived in some small village. Tiny houses were spread out at weird lengths all around him. Mostly the houses looked all the same. Harry had a moment and thought he had arrived back at Number Four Privet Drive. The
feeling went away as he looked into the grey eyes of Draco.
He smiled slightly at Draco as he grabbed for Harry's hand.
"Are you ready?"
Draco nodded and quickly walked up to the Manor. He had his famous Malfoy Mask placed firmly on his face as he pushed the door open hard and it slammed against the wall as Draco walked into the hallway with Harry closely behind him.
He turned to the room on the left and made a face of pure disgust.
"I want your bloody things out of this house before I return from work, Draco. I want nothing to do with you or that little rat of a son that we had regrettably reproduced, he's nothing but a spoiled brat like yourself." A voice called through from a far corner of the room.
Harry looked and seen the face of Astoria. Her face was full of annoyed anger.
"Whatever, Astoria. You told me this before. Now go on and tell the damned Prophet of what I am. My mother already knows about my sexuality, so don't try to embarrass me by telling her. You won't succeed." Draco said, his voice filled with pure disgust."You will have no contact with Scorpius, nor will you be able to see him. I'll make damn sure of that." He continued as he walked out of the room and up the staircase that was at the end of the hall with Harry following close behind him.
He turned to look at Harry and rolled his eyes.
"How could she say any of that stuff to you like that?" Harry asked as they stopped at a dark green door. Draco shrugged uncaring.
"I only married her to please Father and to continue with the bloodline. Other than that, I really never did have feelings for Astoria. As soon as Scorpius was born, I knew that the future I had with her wasn't going to last for very long. I hated being around her. But I loved Scorpius. And I still do. I will be damned if she thinks she's getting one finger on my son." Draco vowed as he pushed open the door and walked into the bedroom.
Harry felt his jaw drop as he looked at the giant bed that was in the middle of the room. It was covered in Slytherin green colors. It was also the biggest bed Harry had ever seen. Draco walked to the right side of the room and over to the large desk that was in the corner of the room. He grabbed the large stack of parchment that was on top of it and threw it all in the suitcase that was next to it.
"Did you know-"
"Did I know that Astoria was already planning to kick me out, even before she found out my sexuality? Yes. Did I know how much of a scumbag she thought I was? Of course I did. Was I well aware of the fact that Astoria might even have the possibility to be cheating on me? Of course I was. And I wouldn't doubt it at all." Draco stated as he walked over the to over sized closet on what Harry guessed was his side of the room.
"Draco-"
"Potter, just stop." Draco closed his eyes for a moment and took a few deep breaths to calm himself down."Just stop worrying about me. I'm fine. Really. Now help me get my shit out of here. The less time I stay here, the more happy I will be." Draco said as he grabbed a handful of clothes and threw them out of the closet and onto the floor.
Harry picked them up and placed a shrinking charm on them all. He placed all of the clothes into the enlarged suitcase and listened to his lover as he kept rambling on.
After what seemed like forever to Harry, Draco had stopped pacing around the room, collecting his things and tossing them at Harry. Each item that Draco had thrown at him, Harry had placed a shrinking charm on it and placed it safely in the suitcase.
"Let's go. I can't stay in this damn hell hole for much longer." He said as he made a face.
Harry immediately stood up and placed a shrinking charm on the suitcase and placed it safely in his coat pocket. Draco grabbed his arm and spun around on the spot, not bothering to inform Astoria of his leaving.
