Chapter Ten
"Draco, Astoria came by today." Ginny said a few nights later at dinner while Harry was still at the Ministry sitting in a meeting. She was biting her lip nervously as she glanced over at the blond across the table.
He looked up at her as he stabbed a knife through a piece of pork.
"Why?"
"She thinks that you and I are having a baby."
"I'm going to bloody kill her one day. Why would she think that?" Draco said as he leaned back in his chair.
"I don't know. Draco, what's wrong with her? She's been sending me owls saying that you, Harry, and I are all secretly in love and that I'm pregnant with your unborn child." Ginny said, studying Draco's angered face.
Draco suddenly stood up from his chair. "I can't deal with her anymore, Gin. No matter what I do or say, she's destroying my life. Did you see the paper today?" He asked as he went to retrieve a glass of wine for himself and Ginny.
"Yes, I did, And I think that's the reason why Harry decided to work late tonight. He normally skips meetings. I know that you two are only friends. It's not bothering me as much as it should, and I'm sorry that I don't know what you and Harry are going through with all of these rumors that are going around." Ginny said as she placed a sympathetic hand on the man's arm as he sat back down, handing her a glass of wine.
Draco ran a hand through his hair. "I also got a letter from Scorpius today. I wasn't going to say anything to you. But since the subject came up, I figured I would."
"What did he say?" She asked.
He stood up again and motioned for her to follow, leaving his unfinished plate sitting on the table. She stood up and they both walked up to Draco's room.
When Ginny entered the room, Draco handed her a letter. "Read this." He said, his voice echoing no emotion at all.
Ginny took the letter and began to read:
Father,
I have received your letter on the situation between Mother and yourself. I am being quite honest when I say how much I cannot believe what I have heard. For the past few weeks in Hogwarts, people have been receiving the Daily Prophet. Many students constantly ask me what is going on between you and the famous Harry Potter.
I am at a loss of what to say to them. I do not know whether those rumors are true and that I was only bred to please Grandfather. I know that you do not love Mother anymore. And I understand why. She has been owling me once a week since school has started. She has been trying to make me come visit her during the holidays. I am torn about what to do. I want to be able to see her, but I do not wish to leave Hogwarts and not be able to see you.
Father, please explain this situation to me. I am only thirteen years of age, but you know that I understand more than a person my age should. McGonagall has spoken to me on numerous occasions since the articles have been coming out. Hagrid has too. I cannot tell them anything, because I do not know much about the situation myself.
All I have told them, Father, was that Mother and you were getting a divorce because she had been having affairs with other men. And now that the Prophet has been publishing all those loopy articles, people have been asking me of your true identity, meaning your partner preferences.
I do not know where you are on the sexual identity, Father. But Albus Potter seems to think that you are gay. I am fine about what you like in a person, Father. But I do not accept the fact that you have not told me anything. Please tell me, Father. Please.
Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy
Ginny looked at Draco.
"So, he doesn't want to see his mother?" She asked confused.
"I don't know." Draco said shrugging as he sat on his bed.
"Draco, I-" Ginny was cut off as a loud CRACK! sounded through the house followed immediately by feet thumping up the stairs.
The sound of the boots walking swiftly down the hallway sounded louder with each step. Suddenly, the door to Draco's bedroom flew open and revealed the angered face of Harry Potter.
"Honey-"
"Gin, save it. I need a word with Malfoy." Harry said glaring at him.
Ginny looked shocked for a moment before she left the room confused.
Harry slammed the door shut and glared menacingly at Draco.
"Harry-"
"Save it Draco. Have you read the damn paper that's coming out tomorrow morning?" He demanded.
"No-"
"Then that fucking explains why the hell you didn't bother showing up in work today." Harry started shouting.
Draco put a silencing charm around his room.
"Harry, what in Merlin's name are you on about?" Draco asked greatly confused.
Harry threw the paper at him.
"Ginny will kill both of us tomorrow. All because some idiot somehow managed to place a hidden camera in your damned office and has that-" Harry pointed at the picture on the front page.
On the front page of the article, Harry was being hugged by his lover. They were so close together. Their legs and arms were interlocked as Harry placed kisses along his lover's neck, going down more with each kiss-
"Harry, who took that picture?" Draco asked terrified of the thoughts of what might happen if the paper gets published.
"Well I figured you had something to do with this." Harry said, his anger visibly going away as he looked into Draco's terrified eyes.
Draco shook his head violently. "Harry, why would I out myself like this? In front of the whole damned Wizarding world?" Draco asked, looking between the picture and his lover. Suddenly a thought came to mind. "You don't think-"
"Astoria. She had to have been the one to do this. She's sneaky enough. And way too much of a bitch for her own good." Harry said, seeming to read his lover's mind.
Harry kicked the nearest object in anger- which just so happened to be a chair- and grimaced at the sudden pain in his foot.
"Ginny can't find out about this, Draco. She can't." Harry said as tears came to his eyes.
If they were from the pain in his foot, or the thoughts of losing Ginny, he didn't know why the tears were there.
Draco walked over to Harry and hugged him tightly for a few moments until Harry's tears stopped.
"Let's go help Ginny clean up the dishes?" Draco suggested as he kicked the paper under his bed.
Harry nodded and walked out of the room as he wiped away stray tears from his cheeks.
