_Weeks in the future_
Weeks had gone by now and he still couldn't find her. He looked and looked but she seemed to have disappeared off the face of the world. It was frustrating and agitating that she- such a petty and weak girl- could slip from his grasps out of nowhere? He still had no idea what caused her to do so. She had been taking much less desirable treatment for a long time now- three years to be exact. And yet, now that life was changing for her, she suddenly can't take it and disappears? Was the mansion not good enough for her now?
"Ren-chan, are you alright?" Natsuki asked, leaning over the desk to look at him. Ren popped out of his mind and blinked, trying to recall what was happening. Natsuki and Ren were sitting in his office together, a paper placed in front of Ren. "If you don't want to make the offer it's fine, you can have time to think about it if you need." Natsuki offered.
"N-no, sorry, I just lost myself there..." Ren said, placing his pen down and closing his eyes, letting his head rest between his palms while massaging his temples.
"You're worrying about Haru-chan." Natsuki said, less of a question than a comment. Ren groaned, and covered his face with his hands, rubbing his eyes with his fingers before taking a deep breath and and sitting back, letting his arms fall to his arm rests. "You shouldn't worry so much, Haru-chan may seem all cute and delegate, but looks are deceiving!" Natsuki cheered, giggling.
"You seem to know her better than me." Ren chuckled dryly.
"Maybe if you hadn't pushed her away so much than she would still be here." Natsuki pointed out.
"I didn't think I'd miss her before." Ren admitted, causing Natsuki to smile.
"You did seem to avoid her for all these years." Natsuki pointed out, trying to get something out of the blonde. Ren sighed, knowing exactly what he was trying to get from him. Ren reluctantly began to speak.
"I didn't like the idea of being tied down before, it seemed like I was more trapped than I have been most of my life and that I could avoid it if I ignored her."
"You were more concerned with your happiness than hers before." Natsuki said, trying to push him just a bit more.
"Well, it wasn't me trying to make her unhappy so I could be happy per say..."
"You were more concerned with yourself."
"Yes." The two of them sat quietly, Ren digging for his next thought. "So... I guess I... just didn't ever think that she could ever be more than a stranger to me." Ren said, trying to keep this going. Natsuki was a very good therapist, letting him talk and despite his loose lips, he never let anything about private matters slip out.
"Oh?" Natsuki said, lifting his eyebrows in a sarcastically surprised manner. Ren blushed, causing Natsuki to giggle.
"I-I't nothing like that. Now she's, you know, I guess... a... acquaintance?" Ren said, causing Natsuki to laugh.
"Ren-chan, she's not some girl you've met only a short while ago You're MARRIED- no need to be shy about it." Natsuki giggled, shaking his head.
"I-I just, you know, don't really know what I'm feeling." Red admitted.
"What do you think you feel?" Natsuki asked, the proposal now completely forgotten. "How do you feel now that she's gone?" Ren chuckled. It really did sound like a therapy session.
"I guess... lonely." Ren said, letting his wheeled chair fall back a bit as he looked up.
"How?" Natsuki asked.
"Heh, I swear, one day I'm gonna find you sitting there taking notes on what I say." Ren chuckled, causing Natsuki to laugh as well. When the two of them settled down Ren began to talk again. "I guess I just feel like there's something missing now that was there before." Ren admitted. Natsuki nodded, smiling gently at Ren.
"Does it hurt to think that she left you?" Natsuki asked, causing Ren to frown.
"I... guess it does." Ren whispered.
"Really?"
"Ok, fine! Yes, it hurts to know that she doesn't want to stay with me anymore, even if I felt that way before. Arg, I don't know what to think any more." Ren complained, rubbing his hands over his face.
"Ren-chan, do you want to know what I think?" Natsuki asked. Ren nodded. "I think that you should think of Haru-chan in a more romantic light." Natsuki said, causing Ren to blush.
"Wh-why?!" Ren cried, turning away from Natsuki.
"Because I think you'll understand everything better than." Natsuki smiled. Ren leaned back, breathing in and out. His hand naturally reached up towards his necktie and loosened it, giving himself breathing room. He found no reason to deny the use of Natsuki's advice and it couldn't hurt him too bad. Still, it was an odd thought to see Haruka in a romantic light.
He never liked women who needed to be treated with care before. And Haruka was so petty with her thin, delegate legs and that prosolin skin. Her arms were like toothpicks. And she was so short, like a little kid. She was far too innocent. And he bet that she would be really clingy as well, always her lover cute little names and hugging him from behind, giggling cutely. She would never be able to wear a bathing suit in front of people, always hiding, covering her small figure up and-
Ren suddenly choked, realizing where his thoughts were slowly. He shook his head rapidly, causing Natsuki to flinch back in surprise. Natsuki smiled at Ren, figuring that he was just thinking about Haruka in a different light.
"So how is the search going?" Natsuki asked, trying to call Ren's attention back.
"It's awful. I can't even find a pink hair. It's like she disappeared from existence." Ren groaned. He had hired the best detectives that he could find, who couldn't come up with anything on her. And despite his warnings, the news soon reached the newspapers. The only problem was that no one knew what she looked like, so even if they did see her somewhere, there was no guarantee that they would notice her. She was the most frustratingly painful girl to find.
"I'm sure she'll turn up sooner or later. She just needs time to cool off." Natsuki reassured, causing Ren to frown.
"She's had weeks to cool off. How much longer does she need before she comes back?" Ren asked, looking up to the ceiling.
"It could be months still. But-" The door suddenly slammed open, causing both men to jump up, turning to the door. In the doorway stood a very displeased Masato. Ren stood up, ready to greet him when Masato cut in.
"Sorry to break up your therapy meeting, but we need to talk." Masato said, raising his voice. Ren blushed, flinching back.
"W-what do you mean?"
"Shinomiya-san always sits like that when he's playing therapist- he does it for Otoya all the time." Masato sighed. "Sorry, Shinomiya-san, but could you leave?"
"What could possibly be so important that you broke up my meeting with Natsuki?" Ren grumbled.
"Haruka."
Sorry I suddenly skipped the the future like I did, but I felt like we needed to see Ren a bit and I couldn't write a chapter so soon on at the point we were in Ren. Well now you guys will at least be given a little sneak peek into the future~
I have to admit, it's a joy to write any chapter with Natsuki in it. I can just make him the most lovable person! I also wrote this chapter for Natsuki~
