BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
Astro moaned and reached his arm out the new alarm clock. He pressed down softly on it.
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
"I don't have time for this…"
SMASH!
Astro looked at the alarm clock, now smashed. "Another one bites the dust." He said. He looked out the window. The sun was beginning to climb up the sky. Orrin rolled into the room. "Astro! Com'on! Wake up!" Astro dug his head back in his pillow. Orrin grabbed his quilt and pulled it off the bed. "MMMM!" Astro moaned angrily.
"Astro! Com'on, you don't want to be late for school, do you?" Astro sat up. He was still wearing his cloths from the other day; he barely ever changed unless his cloths were to torn from fights. "Better late then never." He said, jumping off the bed.
"Now, do you need lunch, a snack…?" Orrin started. Astro tilted his head at him with confusion. "Oh, right! Sorry Master Astro! I just remember when you were little and went to school. Maybe some of the kids there will recognize you. You know, as Toby." Astro grabbed his jacket and tugged it on.
"Yeah, maybe." He said. He had told everyone he knew to never mention Toby or the incident. Then again, Orrin still hadn't got the fact he didn't liked being called 'Master' stuck in, either. He ran over and slid open the window.
"Um, what are you doing?" Astro looked at Orrin.
"Going to school." He said. Orrin shook his head.
"No, no. I'll drive you."
"I can't believe dad's making me go through with this." Wined Astro, standing out side the school gates. He had his sky blue bag pack over one shoulder. Many kids were around the front of the school talking and playing. "Now, now, Astro. Dr. Elefun will pick you up at three." Said Orrin, closing the back door. "Oh, and your farther clearly said, NO POWERS."
"Dam. Okay, see ya Orrin."
"Have a good day, Master Astro!" Orrin hopped back into the car.
"Um, it's just-" Astro started, but the car sped off onto the road. "-Astro." He sighed and looked around. "Three, huh? Well I can be back by then…" as he was just bout to power off into the sky, he heard someone calling his name.
"ASTRO! HEY, ASTRO!" Astro turned to see Zane and Widget walking down the path. He ran up to join them. "How are you going?" Widget chimed.
"Great. Hey, you don't think anyone will notice if I disappeared for a day, do you?"
"You're not thinking of leaving are you?" Widget cried.
"Com'on! Give it a shot." Zane encouraged. Astro sighed.
"Okay." Suddenly the bell rang and all the kids started to travel inside. Zane, Widget and Astro made there way over to the school doors.
"So, is there anything that I need to know?" asked Astro. They soon were the only ones not in the school.
"Well, your locker is right next to mine. Oh! And watch out for Big Bruss." Zane said, walking into the school.
"What? Big Bruss?"
"You'll know him when you see him. He's a big, fat meany. Oh, and have a great first day!" chimed Widget, following Zane into the school.
"What! Widget!" Astro quickly dashed into the school. Everyone was messing with their lockers. They didn't seem to notice Astro, so he slid over to Zane; pulling a USB into his pocket. Astro opened his locked rand pushed his bag inside and got out two USB's. "No-one seems to notice me. That's good." He said, shoving them into his pocket.
"Won't be long before they do. I mean, with that hair-do of yours!"
"Hey!" Astro shook his head as Zane laughed. He turned his head, only to come face to face with a boy with short carrot-orange hair and big blue eyes, magnified by his red glasses. Astro jolted. "Whoa… you're Astro! That robot!" Astro shot him a "shut-up-you-son-of-cant-you-see-I'm-trying-to-fit-in-here" look. He didn't get the message and kept on talking loudly. "My names Conner! What are you doing in Metro High? This is so cool! You're so cool! I can't belie-" Astro covered his mouth with his hand.
"I know I'm cool. Now shut it." Conner nodded his head.
"MM-HH"
"Oh no…" Zane whimpered. Astro let go of Conner's mouth and looked over to Zane's frightened face.
"What?" Astro looked over to where Zane was staring. His eyes too widened.
"Big Bruss." Walking down the hall was the biggest, toughest kid Astro had ever seen. And that's saying alot. He had gray eyes in a cold stare and orange spiky hair(I made a rhyme! ). He wore an orange T-shirt with a gray lightning bolt going across it and black pants. Behind him were four other kids. The first one was a girl with long black, glossy hair and emerald green eyes. The second kid was a tall, slim boy with white blonde hair and deep brown eyes. Another girl had short, blonde curly hair and brown eyes. The last kid was a tall boy with shaggy black hair and pale blue eyes.
The whole corridor went silent. Bruss and his gang passed through, every scrawny kid obviously to weak shrinking down, hoping not to be spotted. "He's had a thing with pushing me around lately…" Zane whispered.
"Why?" Astro whispered back.
"I kinda paid out his uncle."
"Well, who's his uncle?"
"Trust me, you DON'T want to know…" Bruss came up to Zane and stopped. He turned his head to Zane and grinned nastily. "Well, well, well, what do we have here? A little Surface picker!" Bruss taunted, resting his arm next to Zane's head. Zane sunk his back into the locker. "So, what you find today, scavenger? Your lunch of GET A LIFE!" his gang snickered and some of the other kids to.
"You wouldn't want to pick on a friend of Ast-" Conner started. Astro sharply turned around and put a finger to his lips.
"SHH!"
"Well, what do we have here?" Astro slowly turned around to come face to face with Bruss. Zane made a move to get away but his gang caught him. "A new kid, huh? Well, finally! I was getting tired of pushing loser Pane around!" his gang laughed. Zane struggled to escape but the gang was strong. Bruss turned to him and laughed, enjoying to see him struggle.
"You want a loser? There's a mirror in the bathroom." Astro suddenly replied. Everyone gasped. Bruss turned around to face Astro.
"What...?"
"Though, I'm sure you don't need directions as you most probably live there, don't you?" some people couldn't hold it in and little bursts of laughs echoed through the hall. Bruss leaned closer to Astro's face.
"Say that again…"
"Make me. Some people here think you're tough enough."
"Maybe that's because I AM tough enough!" Bruss yelled, getting annoyed. Some girls started to chatter.
"Isn't that Astro?" they whispered. Astro leaned over to Bruss' face with a calm expression.
"Prove it."
"AHH!" Bruss knocked Astro to the ground and surged his fist at him. Everyone gasped and turned away. Zane closed his eyes and turned his head. Bruss smiled for a while, but then his smile dropped. People looked and laughed with amazement. Astro was lying comfortably on the ground how Bruss had pushed him, with Bruss' fist in hand. Bruss put all his weight on him but still Astro's arm did not wobble a bit. Everyone watched and enjoyed the moment. Astro then sprung up into a squatting position and grabbed Bruss' hand. Bruss looked up to Astro's face; grinning. "Huh?" Astro powered forward and let go of him. Bruss bowled into his gang, Zane leaping out of the way just in time. The hall erupted in applause. "That IS Astro!" a girl yelled. Astro smiled and bowed. Bruss pushed his gang out of the way and stood up.
"So you're it? You're the legendary Astro?" Bruss said, un-impressed.
"Just figured that out now, did you?" Astro said, crossing his arms.
"Great, just what this school needs. Another piece of computerized junk."
BEEEEEEEEP!
The school bell rang and everyone headed off to their classes. Just as Bruss and his gang were leaving, the girl with blonde curly hair snuck in, "Freak."
