Yay! Next chapter :D Hope you like!

"When do we leave?" The prince asked Elrond. He and Legolas walked through one of the many gardens after the council meeting.

"In two days time." Elrond paused. "I am worried, Legolas of what we might find. Your father tells me Thorin has gone completely mad with the gold sickness. He refuses to give the people of Esgaroth even one piece."

Legolas sighed. "I know how you feel. I too, am concerned. For many of the same reason as you...and others." Legolas barley whispered that last part. Elrond stopped in his tracks and turned to face the younger ellon. "What troubles you Legolas?" Elrond asked. Legolas only shook his head. "It is nothing. You have enough on your mind as it is. I would not trouble you with what's on mine as well."

Elrond set a strong hand on Legolas' shoulder. "Legolas, you have always been like a son to me. You know that. I have told you on many occasion. Now, if you tell me what troubles you, perhaps I can help?"

Legolas took a deep breath and began to explain. "Thorin Oakenshield has two younger nephews with him. One called Kili. When the company was held prisoner by my father, Kili and Tauriel often had lengthy talks by his cell. I saw the way he looked at her. There is no denying that he loves her. I only fear that if Tauriel sees him again...she may love him too." The prince let out a breath, struggling to keep his composure. He began again. "I fear she will forget me Elrond. But I, I could never forget her. She is, the centre of my universe. Apart from the dwarf I have other fears. There are more means of losing her. Going into this battle, I am not afraid to fight. I never have been. I am afraid for Tauriel. I know she can take care of herself, she is just the skilled warrior as I. However, if she were to perish, I could no go on. I would be driven insane by greif. Nothing, could bring me out of my despair. I...I do not know how my father lives, with a wound like that."

Elrond mused over this for a time. He put his arm around Legolas' shoulders. "Legolas. We do not know what awaits us, or what will take place in this war. Physically, mentally, or emotionally. What I do know, is that if Tauriel truly loves you, her feeling will not falter. Legolas I know what you feel for her, and her for you. In every action you both do, there is something there. Something undeniable. Something I cannot put into words. But there is something beautiful between you and her. If she loves you, she will not cast you aside for another. If she loves you, she will have that much more reason to fight her hardest, and love, so that you may be together. Legolas when you fight for love...you will prevail. Do not worry, I believe fate is on your side."

Legolas awoke the next morning.

After he and Elronds talk the previous evening, Legolas had retired straight to his room to think things over. He had not slept well that night.

After he had eaten, the prince found Tauriel in the same garden he and Elrond had walked in.

"Tauriel." He called. She turned, a bit startled by his sudden presence. "What is it Legolas?" She asked.

"Tauriel," Legolas placed his hands on both of her arms. "I must talk with you." He paused and took a breath. Tauriel looked at him with concern. "When... When we leave, on this journey to the Lonely Mountain, when we get there, Tauriel I know Kili will be there. If I were to lose you to the dwarf, or come to think of it, to death, I could not go on. My love, you are-" Tauriel hushed him. She stood inches away from him. Her lips pursed and her eyes knowing. "I know. Legolas I heard. I heard everything you said to Elrond here last night. About the war, about Kili, and about me. Legolas you will not lose me!" She spoke with urgency. "I love you! And even if Kili still loves me he must understand that my heart belongs with you Legolas! My heart, stays, with you. When you said you could not go on if I died, and that I was the centre of your universe, my heart stopped. Legolas, you had best know that I feel the same for you. I am not afraid to fight either, if you will only fight by my side. Amin mela lle. "

Legolas pulled Tauriel into his embrace. She buried her face in his chest, taking in the strength of his arms around her. The prince spoke once more, in a whisper. "I love you too, Tauriel."

Nothing more was said for a long while after that. The elves merely stood there, and held each other. Bracing themselves for the battle ahead.
