"-And we should pick what kinds of flowers you want! Oh! And we can't forget the cake! What bakery do you want?! Do you want it to be big?! How big?! OOOHHHH! We should do a double chocolate cake! With vanilla layers! How does that sound?! You'll love it, I know!" Haruka stared tiredly at Mimiko as she rambled off, Haruka dressed in her PJs, having changed in the morning. Mimiko continuously rambled on, talking and talking, barely taking a moment to breath.
Haruka yawned, looking down at her watch. It had only been a few hours since Mimiko called her and here she was, standing in her doorway, rambling on and on.
"Mimiko, it's only eight in the morning. How did you even get here?" Haruka asked, doubting that Masato would give her any mode of transportation at this time, on one of her work days no less.
"Oh, I just kinda took on of the cars and left a note~" Haruka groaned.
"Um, well, do you wanna come in? We're letting in a lot of bugs by talking in the doorway." Haruka said, stepping out of the way so Mimiko could come in.
"Awesome! Oh, we should start planning right now!"
"Mimiko, I haven't eaten breakfast." Haruka sighed, rubbing her eyes.
"Haruka," Ren called, looking down on them from on top of the staircase, a phone in his hands. "It's Hijirikawa, he won't Mimiko on the phone."
Mimiko visually flinched, shaking her head. "T-tell him I'm not here!"
"She says she's not here." Haruka stifled a laugh, covering her mouth. Mimiko, however, looked like she was about to cry. She reached out and grabbed Haruka's hand, quickly running her out of the room and down a hallway. Haruka could hear Ren calling out to them, but Mimiko kept running. Haruka looked at her. She didn't seem to have her normal peppy attitude to her. No. She seemed desperate to get away somehow. Her grip on Haruka's arm was harsh and strong, and her breathing was uneven. She managed to pull them both into a room, closing the door behind them. Haruka turned on the lights and stared at Mimiko, who just stood there, staring at the door, her hands still pressed against the wood.
"Mimiko?" Haruka asked, taking a step towards her. "Are you okay?"
"Y-yeah, I'm fine!" She laughed, turning around with a fake smile.
"W-what was that about?"
"Oh that?! Oh, it's nothing! Let's start preparing already! Come on, we can pick out a... or maybe the..."
"Mimiko," Haruka reached out and placed a hand on the brunette's shoulder. "What happened." It only took a moment for all to break down. Mimiko's smile disappeared and tears began to fall down her freckled face. She leaned back against the door and slid down its frame. She reached up and wiped her blue orbs, letting out a sniffle. Haruka bent down, sitting on her knees as she reached out once more to squeeze her shoulder. "Tell me what happened."
"...Oh Haruka! I'm the worst! I really am a big, blundering idiot!" Mimiko cried, covering her face with her hands. "I've done something even I can't believe I did!"
"What did you do?"
Mimiko looked up at Haruka, her eyes sad and hollow. She looked back down, moving her legs into a cross, her face a little red. Haruka frowned, waiting for an answer, but seconds continued to tick by without a word coming from Mimiko.
"Haruka," Mimiko whispered, looking at Haruka. "I did something stupid... without thinking first. I just kinda... Did it..."
"What?" Haruka prodded.
"Well... okay, so this is what happened.
Mimiko's POV
I was walking down the hallway, humming one of my favorite tunes. I was in such a good mood now, I just had to tell Masato what I had just finished doing. Even though it was technically right in the morning, I knew that Masato went to bed very early, even though it was about 4:30 in the morning.
I turned the corner and opened the door to Masato's office, stepping inside. Masato was sitting there at his desk with his back to the door, talking on the phone to someone. He was muttering, clearly displeased at being disturbed so early, even though he had probably already been up for a little. I prepared to make myself noticed when he shot up suddenly.
"You said what?!" I jumped back in surprise. I had never seen Masato like this before. I took a step closer, hoping to hear what he was saying. "What made you say something like that?... Look, I know you're a big shop playboy, but don't you think that's a little-... No! I am not jealous! Why would I be-... No! Look, I can help out a little-... Yes! Of course I can, who do you think I am?! Look, can I call you back later? I've got to-... Oh god, I have a headache, I'll call you back. I will help." Masato put down the phone, sighing. He placed his hands on his face and ran his fingers through his hair.
He turned around and jumped, eyes wide when he spotted me standing there. I suddenly felt very small, looking down. "Um, sorry. Should I go?"
"Wha... No, no, i-it's fine. You can stay. Um, what are you doing here?" Masato asked, rubbing the back of his neck.
"I... well, it's not really all that important. I should go and-"
"No, no, really, it's fine."
"Um, okay." I looked around his office, suddenly feeling awkward.
"Would you like to sit?"
"No no! I-I'm fine." I mentally slapped myself. What was I being so shy about? "I just wanted to tell you that I finished planting the Tulips early and I... um... well, now that I think about it, it's a little childish." How could I have been so stupid! Arranging them in a little heart shape! "So!" Stupid! You don't have to shout! "Who was that?"
"Oh, that? Just Jinguji." Masato answered, standing right in front of me now.
"Oh, really? What did he want? OH! Was it about Haruka!? What did he say?!" Masato jerked back, holding a hand to his ear.
"Easy there! Calm down- and stop shouting Mimiko!" Masato hissed, frowning down at me.
"Woops~ sorry~" I hummed, giggling. Masato rolled his eyes, but I could see a small smile on his face.
"It wasn't really business related. He just told me what happened on his date last night."
"What?! That had a DATE?!" I giggled at the thought of that. God knows that Haruka got something sweet last night! "What happened?! Tell me tell me!" I said, throwing my arms around him. He quickly grabbed me, making sure I didn't fall and hit the ground.
"Easy there! He just told me that the date went well. They went out to eat... He asked for her to remarry him." I stopped, suddenly frozen. Wait... what?!
"He said what?!" I cried, jumping back.
"Quiet down! He just called and told me he decided he wanted to redo the wedding and he asked if I could help out."
Oh. My. GOD! This is so great!"
"And he wasn't you to help out."
"Oh my god! This amazing!"
"Mimiko, calm down." Masato chuckled. I was jumping up and down in the air out of pure excitement. I just couldn't believe it! And then...
Narrator's POV
"And then?" Haruka asked.
"W-well, I don't really remember what happened after that. But, then I..."
"What?!" Haruka cried, leaning in close.
"Oh Haruka! I don't know how, but my arms were around his neck and I-! I kissed him!"
