Tenma looked around the main room, filled with dining tables and coffee lounges. All the scientists and assistances were traveling to across the Surface in a huge Whale Ship, called this because it was an extremely large floating air ship. Before the official landing the next day, they all were having a grand dinner. After that was over Tenma was leaning against the ships window, holding a champagne glass that hadn't even been touched. He sighed. Things sure were boring without his son around. Dr. Jet walked up, black hair in pony tail with a bit of fringe hanging down, wearing a casual red dress with a black cardigan. Dr. Tenma glanced over to her as she approached. She smiled kindly and joined him, raising her glass. "Dr. Tenma." She addressed.
"Please, Emma. Bill." Tenma answered. She looked down at his full glass.
"Not thirsty, Bill?" Tenma looked down to his glass.
"Oh! No, um, I'm not much of a drinker, to tell the truth." He explained. She nodded.
"I must say, I'm actually quite a fan of you, Bill." Tenma looked over to her.
"Really? I mean, I've always been admired by other scientists, but, a fan is quite different!" she laughed.
"Yes, well, I'm more of a fan of your WORK, so don't be getting a big head!" he nodded and smiled.
"Which of my work in particular?" he asked. She smiled ad narrowed her eyes, knowing he was simply trying to get more complements.
"Well, your new building robots are a blast." He nodded. "And I believe you are the creator of Astro, that robot boy."
"Farther, of Astro." Tenma butted in.
"Excuse me?"
"Farther, not creator. Well, yes I created him, but I am his farther." She frowned, but then nodded. Suddenly an engineer dressed in a white suit covered in oil ran up to them. A worried expression was on his white face and his brown hair clamped to his forehead. Tenma knew the man as he had talked to him before. "Shane? What's wrong? You look terrible!" he exclaimed. He screeched to a stop, causing much attention in the room. He took a quick breath in and began his explanation.
"(Gasp!) Sir! I mean (gasp!) Dr. Ten- (gasp!) –ma! There is a (gasp!) problem with the (gasp!) ship!" he choked out. Tenma frowned and stood up properly in concern.
"What? What's wrong with the ship?" he asked. Emma grabbed his shoulders.
"Deep breaths, Shane. Now tell us what is wrong." Shane took three deep breaths and spoke again, much more clearly.
"We need you, Dr. Tenma! The ships engine has had a huge malfunction! We need you to repair It." he begged. Tenma looked at him. The whole room went silent and looked at Dr. Tenma.
"What's the damage?" Dr. Jet asked.
"THE WHOLS SHIPS GOING DOWN!" Shane yelled. Everyone's eyes widened and some people could be heard letting out cries of fear.
"Don't worry everyone! The engine will be fixed in no time!" Tenma went with Shane into the engine room, glancing back at Emma. She smiled and nodded. "You can do it!" she called as they walked out the room.
"I can't do this!" Tenma said. He was looking in the main engine. It was in horrible condition. Wires twisted and clicking with blue electricity, all the computers to it were fazing and cracking and smoke was exploding everywhere. Tenma stood up, dusting his hands and coughing. The captain of the ship, Sheikh eyed him. Shane turned in complete distress. "WHAT DO YOU MEAN, YOU CAN'T DO IT! YOU'RE DR. TENMA! YOU CAN DO ANYTHING! Oh, god…" he scrunched his hair up in his hands. "WE'RE GOA DIE! THE SHIPS GOING DOWN AS WE SPEAK! OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD! (Gasp) (Gasp) (Gasp) (Gasp)…"
"SHANE!" Dr. Tenma threw his hands on Shane's shoulders and looked him in the eyes. "We are NOT going to die! Though, there is that 50% chance…" Shane's face went completely white. His eyes rolled up and he fell to the ground. The captain and Tenma both looked down at him with a raised eyebrow. "He's fainted…" Sheikh exclaimed. They looked at each other, shrugged, then went on with the conversation.
"I need the appropriate tools. Is there a supply store anywhere in these parts of the Surface? A mechanic shed, or something?" Tenma asked. The captain thought for a while. He slowly nodded.
"I believe there is one located around here. But you can't get there! All the drones and small transportation are shut down aswell!"
"Hmmm…I'll get Astro down here, then. He'll get them working…"
