Cora held her breath. Z shook her head as the silence wore on like a suffocating grasp. "We're too late…" she whispered, clicking on a small button. The cuffs around Astro's limbs clicked off and disappeared back into the lab table. Suddenly the phone started to shine. Blue auras shone out of the small piece of technology. Cora gasped. To everyone's instant relief, BlueCore started to drift from the phone into Astro's chest. Cora grinned as more flowed out, echoing sounds like a thousand bells chiming shimmering in everyone's ears. The BlueCore wrapped around Astro, some flowing into Zoran as well. Zoran looked at the energy traveling inside her and gasped. "Whoa…Ha! That feels weird!" she laughed, her body immediately feeling stronger. She stood up straight and watched her brother. Cora's eyes lit up as the beautiful energy flowed around her, her hair rustling. Soon, it all flowed into Astro's chest once again. Cora looked up to his face, his eyes were still closed. Still no movement. But then, slowly, ever so slowly…his eyes started to flutter, and they flickered open. "Hmmmmm…" he sighed. Everyone cheered and Cora quickly wrapped her arms around his neck in a desperate hug. "What? Cora? What happened? I'm…"
"Alive! You're alive!" Zoran jumped up and down. Astro lifted himself up a bit and looked around to the smiling faces. Cora released her grasp and grinned at him. Tenma rubbed him on the head. "Good to have you back, son."
"How do you feel?" Z asked. Astro lifted one arm and moved his fingers.
"Fantastic."
"Good. Now NEVA do that to us AGAIN!" Zane yelled. They all laughed. Astro looked to Cora, sitting on the table with him.
"The thing I was going to say to you, before, you know…" she smiled and quickly held her finger to his lips.
"I never needed words!" with that she leaned over and kissed him on the lips. Widget gasped and giggled girly. Zane smirked and crossed his arms. Ember and Sluch just looked at each other and covered their eyes. "Oh brother…" Astro closed his eyes and Cora pulled away. His moth opened to only let one word escape.
"Whoa…" Z smiled at Tenma. Cora hugged him again, Astro holding her tight. Zoran's eyes were probably the widest they've ever been.
"Now THAT was weird..." Everyone laughed. Astro hopped off the table, his legs a little wobbly. Tenma steadied him. Zoran walked up and sat on the table, taking a deep breath. "Um, Astro? Dad? I have a wittle confession to make, which would explain a wittle bit of what's going on…" Astro and Tenma looked at her with raised eyebrows. Z nodded.
"Yes, dear?" she said.
"Well, first off (though you probably saw this coming), Dad, Hamegg wanted to kill you." Tenma's frowned, but the shrugged and nodded.
"Yeah, I pretty much saw that coming…" he said. Z looked at Tenma with a frown.
"What? Who's Hamegg?" she asked.
"He runs an orphanage on the Surface. Its where we live." Zane said.
"Anyways, he never gave you the zapper thingy either, so he used that DNA thingy in the thing, and got the blueprints of Astro, ad a bit of his DNA."
"You were created by Hamegg, weren't you?" Cora asked. She nodded.
"Actually it turned out Hamegg busted Stone out, cos he didn't have enough parts. Black was never supposed to be rescued, but it all figured that Black organized for you to be deaded, Astro. Black went and made a super killing machine and Hamegg created me. Stone gave me the infection chips to put into your system."
"Then why were they in you?" Astro asked. Zoran smiled.
"Well, how could I do it? I ended up swallowing the chips, to save you. Turned out that backfired, as we have the same personality chips and feel the same pain." Astro smiled slyly and gave himself a small pinch. "OWW!" Zoran jolted. She glared at Astro.
"Hey! What was that for?"
"Oh, that wasn't hard." Astro rolled his eyes.
"WAS SO!"
"Go on, Zoran." Z said. Giving another glare to Astro, Zoran cleared her throat.
"Well, I think that's about it. Black's dead, Stone's plan failed and I've rebelled! We've won!"
"WOO!" Astro hugged Zoran, picking her up. She laughed. To break the moment, Ember turned to Tenma.
"Wait…Dr. Tenma, weren't you originally here to save a Whale Ship full of people?" she asked. Everyone's eyes widened. Astro almost dropped Zoran.
"Holy we should go!" Tenma exclaimed, turning to Z.
"Z, will you please come with us? And we need your tools!" Z nodded.
"You know what?" she said, walking over to a box of tools, dropping the deactivate machine in it. "Rose and I have stayed here long enough." She turned to Tenma. "Bill, we're going to live in Metro City."
"SWEET!" Zoran yelled, running up and hugging her.
"He-he…she called him Bill…" Zane mumbled to himself. Z smiled down at Zoran and patted her on the head.
"You know…I've always wanted a daughter."
"Gee, thanks…" Astro remarked, crossing his arms. Z looked up and laughed.
"Don't worry, Astro, there are no favourites!" she smiled. Tenma ran up to another box.
"Com'on, Z! We need to hurry!" Z nodded and pulled away from Zoran, running to help Tenma.
"Just take the whole box!" she said. Tenma struggled to lift the box. Zoran walked up and lifted it with ease. Z grinned, standing and watching the small robot walk across the lab holding the heavy box and put her hands on her hips. "If she's after the blueprints of Astro, then you have created the ultimate child robot. Very nice…" Tenma smiled and walked after Zoran, Z following. Astro was giving a hug to Widget.
"Now if Bruss tries to kick your buts again, he'll have me to answer to." Astro said. Widget looked to him and smiled.
"He never kicked our buts…" Zane grumbled.
"So, it must have been awkward." Ember said. Astro frowned at her.
"What was?"
"Your mom, you being a robot… It all equals to major awkwardness." Astro thought for a while.
"Actually, all I remember is calling out to her and her smiling to me. After that I couldn't think about anything. She seems alright with it though…" He said, scratching the back of his neck, to feel that the infection had disappeared. Cora reached out and hugged him. Ember sighed.
"Com'on! That's like the third time you've hugged him now!" she exclaimed. They looked to her.
"Well sorry for feeling that little bit more affectionate towards a best friend who's just almost died!" Cora defended.
"And I don't mind…" Astro replied cheekily. Cora frowned at him and pushed him away, smiling. He laughed.
"KIDS!" they all looked towards Tenma, Z and Zoran at the foot of the stairs. "Com'on!" Tenma urged.
"Yeah, kids!" Zoran taunted. As they raced up the stairs and into the kitchen, Z dashed into the hall and entered a bedroom, where Rose sat in a purple arm chair, fast asleep. Another fire place was burning beside her, with a cream bed and a small dog basket, with a scruffy brown haired dog rested. She approached her and softly nudged her shoulder. "Psst, mum? Rose, wake up!" she whispered. Rose stirred and her eyes fluttered open. She looked around.
"What? Z? What's going on? Is that robot boy alright?" she asked wearily.
"Its Astro and yes he's fine, but we need to get to the Whale Ship and I just want to ask if you want to finally live in Metro City." Z said. Rose took a moment to absorb the information. "Rose we have no time! I really hate to put you on he spot but are you coming or not?"
"Y-y-yes, then! But Jump has to come too!" Rose answered, getting up out of her seat.
"Yes, of course!" Z turned to the sleeping dog and patted down on her knees. "JUMP! Here Jump, com'on!" the small dog jolted its head up to Z and its tail wagged. It jumped up and followed Rose and Z out side to where Tenma was adjusting the car engine.
"We can't use that car." Z said, pointing. Tenma looked at her.
"Why?" Rose asked. Jump walked up to Zoran and licked her fingers. She giggled.
"Good doggy!" she squeaked, picking the scruffy animal up.
"How long did it take you to get here?" asked Z.
"Well, how long until the whole ship goes down?" Sluch asked.
"Around, what? An hour, or something?" Astro answered. Tenma banged his fist against the car and groaned.
"You're right! It took me and Astro at least an hour and a half to get here. And the cars not meant for NINE people! The extra weight will just slow us down more!" everyone exchanged worried glances. Cora slumbered down to the ground in defeat.
"Then, I guess we didn't all win, Zoran…" she sighed.
"But, but…" Sluch and Widget whimpered.
"All those scientists…" Zane sighed.
"They're all gonna die…" Ember said.
"Not fair…" Zoran pouted, stroking the fluffy dog's ears.
"Oh dear…" Rose whimpered. Astro frowned.
"Hey!" he called. Everyone looked up to him. "Those scientists trusted us. They're in that ship right now still in hope that we're on our way right now. Its either we fail or fail trying. I don't know about you, but I'm choosing success. That car can't take all you but I can. I'll fly at the back and push the car so it goes faster."
"Astro, you're still not in the best condition." Tenma warned.
"I don't care. I can't let anyone die within my power. Not today, not ever." Everyone looked up at Astro with growing hope in their eyes. Tenma thought for a second, but then nodded.
"Let's go save the day!" Zoran declared. They all cheered and ran towards the car. Astro smiled. Zane sat in the far right seat, Zoran in the middle and Cora sitting in the left. Widget and Sluch knelled down infront of them, with Z in the passenger seat and Tenma driving. Ember agreed to sit in the boot. Rose and Jump slid into Hamegg's car. "Cant some of us fit in Hamegg's car too?" Cora asked.
"Astro will only push one car. Rose is not needed as much; she's agreed to just travel behind." Z answered. "Okay, let's go!"
Tenma nodded and pushed down on the start button. The car vroomed and hummed, lifting off the ground with a slight wobble. "ALRIGHT ASTRO!" he called. Astro nodded. He jumped up and tried to get his rocket boots working. Nothing but a slight glitch and buzz. He touched the ground and frowned. "Com'on…" he motivated himself. He jumped up again and his rockets finally worked on him. He slowly hovered up to the back of the car and heaved it upwards. Tenma slammed down on the accelerator, with Astro pushing with all his might. Soon the car was traveling at great speed, headed for the Whale Ship.
