Alright, I shall fix any and all mistakes the next time I'm at a computer. right now though, I'm dead tired, and just want to get to bed. Also, for further on in the chapter, I chose random continents, and I started with mine first. I do not own Yugioh, enjoy. [YUGI, YAMI, and Atem]
Chapter 40
"Uh, he's joking." Yami said immediately.
"No I'm nooot." Yugi whined.
"Yes, pregnant is the…new word…we're using to mean…hungry!" Atem babbled.
"How do stupid do you guys think I am?"
"What do you mean?"
"Marik already sat me down and told me everything that had to do with pregnancy. And he also hinted that someone I knew was currently in this position. It wasn't that hard after putting his words together to figure out that it was Yugi. Cause there is no way Kaiba would ever allow a vampire to impregnate his boyfriend. Especially before adulthood, what the hell is wrong with you?" Malik said pulling Yugi closer and rolling his eyes.
"You know, Yugi is partially to blame for this." Atem pointed out.
"Yes, I know. Still, you guys don't have to carry a kid around. The people here at school are going to judge him for this you know. Straight A student, almost never gets in trouble, and previous perfect attendance holder Yugi Mutou, pregnant? It's going to be a rough road ahead." Malik pushed Yugi away and towards his mates. He probably thought he needed their comfort. Yugi clung to Malik.
"Yugi! Baby! I've missed you!" a high pitched voice said. Yugi looked behind him to see Anzu running up. Switching his position on Malik he shoved him into her arms and ran off.
"No! Don't leave me with the Devil, Yugi!" he heard Malik shout behind him.
"I'll pay you back later!" Yugi said before he turned the corner.
"I'm not a Devil!" he heard Anzu shriek.
"Yes, she is, she really is." Atem said from behind him.
"Ack! I'm trying to get away from you!" Yugi said looking over his shoulder.
"Good luck with that, now forgive, Yami."
"Never!" Yugi cried speeding up and into his first class. He shut the door and held it close. Tipping his head back he saw to his delight that Tony was already in the room for once. The door jerked under is hold.
"Yugi, let go of the door."
"Make me."
"That shouldn't be too hard, after all you are only human." Tony commented from behind him.
"Ha! We'll see about that."
"Help me, Yami. With both of our strength we should be able to overpower him." Atem complained. Yugi waited until he felt the force of both of them pulling on the door before letting go. He heard a cry of surprise a thump, and whump, before closing the door again. He let go of the handle and realized that he had squished it into the shape of his fist. The inside door handle looked like someone had replaced it with metal play dough.
"Oops."
"Whoa, that poor handle never stood a chance. Did they transform you?" Tony asked coming to stand beside him.
"Uh, no, no, I'm just…just stronger than I look." Yugi said nervously looking in the opposite direction of him.
"Yugi, I've known you since pre-school. You've never been this strong."
"Hmm, must…must be a mate thing then. Their strength must have flowed over the link somehow." Yugi said sitting down as Yami came in supporting Atem.
"Right, somehow." Tony said in a disbelieving voice.
"Aww, did the poor vampire get hurt?" Yugi mocked. Atem just glared at him as Yami set him down in his seat before sitting down next to him.
"Whoa, did you guys have another fight? I swear you fight more than you get along. Are you sure they're the right match for you?"
"S-something like that." Yugi hesitated.
His fingers twitched, itched, to curl his hands up around his belly in a protective embrace. He fought the urge, curling them into fists instead. He felt something slip down his one fist, and could almost hear as it dripped onto the ground. He uncurled his hand, and looked down at the blood welling up on his palm.
"Tch." Yami grabbed his hand licking the wound closed. Yugi stared at his healed palm a few more seconds, before flipping his hand over and holding the trail of blood on his fingers up to him.
You want me to lick it clean too?
Well, you don't have to. It's completely up to you.
Yami rolled his eyes, before grabbing his hand again and licking it clean. To think, at a previous point in his life he would have found something like this disgusting; seeing one of their pink tongues licking up and down, and in between his fingers. Yami paused, before continuing to lick up the blood. Now though, he simply found it entrancing. Was his blood really as delicious as they claimed it to be? It certainly had never tasted so to him. Just copper and salt, yet they had told him before that he tasted like a fruity dessert to them. It made him wonder for a moment what would happen if he tasted his blood now, with his newborn senses.
"Don't even think about it." Atem said aloud.
"But!" Yugi protested.
"No." he responded firmly.
"Spoil sport." Yugi grumbled turning away and pouting. Yami dropped his hand. Yugi looked at it to find it possibly cleaner than it had been before.
I forgive you, Yami.
Really?
Mmm, it's a stupid fight anyway.
Does this mean you're going to be sleeping in the same bed as us?
Don't push your luck.
"Okay, as much as I like the silence, I don't like being kept out of a conversation." Tony's voice broke into their thoughts. Yugi just shrugged putting his head on his arms, feeling really tired suddenly.
"Hey, no sleeping." Atem said poking him.
"You're right, I need something sour."
"What?" Yami asked.
"Now." Yugi grabbed the front of his shirt pulling him close.
"No, you can wait until after school." Atem said waving him off.
"Now." Yugi growled at him in a voice he himself had never heard leave his mouth before.
"Okay, now." Atem got up fleeing the room.
"Guess this means I'm on Yugi watch." Yami stated prying his hands loose from his shirt.
"Why isn't he back yet? I need those sour things now."
"Okay, yes, he's a vampire, but even he's not that fast."
"But I need them now."
"Try being a little patient."
"I can't. I need them, now."
"Wow, if I didn't know any better I'd say you were pregnant, Yugi. But that's just impossible." Tony said making Yugi jump as he had forgotten he was even there.
"Pfft, like hell it is." He muttered.
"What was that?"
"Nothing."
"Okay."
"Is he back yet?"
"No!"
"How about now?"
"Do you see him back yet?"
"No…"
"Well, looks like you have your answer."
"I don't like it."
"I can't help you with that."
"And just what can you help me with?"
"Come closer and I'll show you."
"Yeah, I'm not that curious."
Briiiiinnnnngggggg!
"Next class." Yugi said hopping off his seat and heading towards his next class. He was halfway towards Home Economics, before he realized he wasn't even sure if he had the class today. He didn't know if it was an A or B day. He looked at Yami who just shrugged; he was as clueless as Yugi. Stopping a random student, he asked what day it was and had to backtrack to Honors English, it was an A day. The class was half over when Atem showed back up, all smiles, holding out several different packages of different sour things to him. From crybabies to sour patch kids. Yugi looked down at it and then back up at him.
"Oh, I don't want it anymore."
Atem's face became an interesting shade of red at his words. Yugi watched as it grew darker and darker, until it was almost purple. He raised the bags like he was about to throw them at something or someone.
"Now don't you go throwing those at me. You won't like the consequences if you do."
"Oh, and what might those be?"
"Use your imagination; I'll pull something from that."
Atem chucked the packages out the window.
"Now, what if I wanted those later?"
"Then I'll know exactly where they are."
"You do know that you're in a school full of high school students right? Free sugar doesn't last long here."
Atem hissed words at Yugi that even with his new heightened senses he couldn't understand. He asked very nicely if he could repeat his words. All that got him was a rude hand gesture, and Atem storming out of the room. Yugi appeared over by the window to see a bunch of freshmen running off with the bags of sour things. He grinned, nope, sugar didn't last long at all.
"Wow, those freshmen move fast."
"If you found unprotected bags of blood lying on the ground giving off a delicious scent, you'd grab them and move fast too."
"Mm, I only find your blood delicious though. So you wouldn't have to worry about me running off with any other person's bag of blood." Yami said wrapping his arms around Yugi's waist cautiously. Yugi simply leaned into the touch. He was both attracted and repulsed by the attention, and he had a hard time distinguishing where the emotions were coming from. Yami's hold tightened, pulling him firmly into his chest, resting his chin on top of his head.
The repulsion was coming from his mind, his instincts. The attraction from his heart, his soul. If he could find a way to ignore his instincts, which were stronger than they had ever been before, he could probably propel himself back into their arms more quickly. That's where he really wanted to be after all. Safe in the captivity of their arms. Sleeping between them. Kissing, touching, and holding them. He hated the separation from them that his instincts felt he needed. What did it know though? Really, what did it know about what he really wanted? What he needed? He needed them.
We're yours, Yugi.
I know, Atem. Could you let my instincts know that? I don't think anyone told it. Just imbed the thought in my mind too, while you're at it.
I'll try my best.
That's all I ask.
"Okay, you need to let go now, Yami." Yugi whispered closing his eyes against the feeling of needing to be alone.
"I don't want to."
"Please, don't make this harder. Just let go. I'll let you hold me at lunch."
"All through lunch?"
"We'll see."
"I'm not letting go, unless you promise."
"Yami, please don't make me push you away. I really don't want to do that."
"Like you can."
Yugi sighed, would he ever learn? Twisting around in his arms, he pushed him away with what he thought was a small amount of strength from his little gift. He needed a new amount to describe the word small. He had sent Yami flying across the room, through several desks, only to have his back slam against the opposite wall. Yugi winced looking away. All hell broke loose after that though, as a vampire jumped up from her seat looking between the two in realization.
"He's-!" she never got the words out as Atem appeared at her side, clapping a hand over her mouth.
"Every one of you will keep this secret to yourself. The one who tells will receive a punishment from me, personally. One that is beyond any of your imaginations. I will make the old ancient punishments look like child's play when I'm through with you. This is an order from your King, you will obey." Atem's voice filled the room in a thundering silence.
"Ooo, scary." Yugi commented breaking the silence. Atem rolled his eyes at him, releasing the girl.
"But, my King, people will notice eventually." She said pointing out the obvious.
"Yes…yes, they will."
"Why isn't he scared of you? Raphael was, you and Yami had him shaking in his boots every time you came close. Every blood bag was scared of you guys." Another asked.
"They all also tried running away at every chance they received."
"So, what, you tried a new tactic?"
"No, I simply didn't want him to be afraid. Neither of us did. We wanted his trust, not his fear."
"And do you have that? Do you have his trust?"
"Not completely, but it's something we're working on."
"You'll never get it. Sarugaki took something from him; you'll never get it back."
"Only if he took it to his grave with him."
"Some say he did."
"What do you know? You weren't there!" Yugi butted in and therefore reminding them, that even though he was across the room, he could still hear them, every single word. She shrugged walking out of the room as the bell had only just rung signaling the end of class.
"Did he steal your trust, Yugi?" Atem asked approaching him slowly.
"You have that, Atem. You have and Yami both have my trust, you know that."
"Then what did he take?" Atem asked backing him into the open window.
"Nothing. Nothing that I haven't given you already."
"No, you're holding something back. You always have." Yami added.
"Ahem, I have another class coming in soon." The teacher spoke up from behind them. They turned to look at her and Yugi jumped out of the second story window, making a small crater in the ground on impact. He didn't look up, he just made his way towards Study Hall on the outside of the building. He tapped on the window, and one of his classmates opened it for him.
"What are you doing outside?" he asked.
"Avoiding a painful subject."
"Didn't you just have a class on the second floor?"
"…no?"
"You sure?"
"Yes?"
"Don't you ever do that again." Yami hissed coming into the room.
"I just figured Sensei wanted us out of there as soon as possible is all."
"I doubt she wanted you to go that way out of her classroom though." Atem said shaking his head.
"Hmph." Yugi crossed his arms and turned his head away from him in a pout.
"Oh, don't pout. You'll just make me want to capture that bottom lip of yours." Atem smiled appearing in front of him.
"Can we please get back to our topic of conversation?" Yami asked.
"Right, Yugi you need to tell us-" he never finished as Yugi threw himself in his arms and kissed him.
"That wasn't it."
No, Yugi, let go.
I don't want to. Why won't you let me kiss you anymore?
Because I can't handle it long enough to not take advantage.
Well, what if that's exactly what I want you to do?
With much struggling, Atem unwound Yugi's arms from around his neck, and pinned them to the wall behind him. He pulled away from the kiss, placing his forehead on his shoulder. Atem looked down at Yugi through narrowed eyes.
You know you liked it.
"Atem and Yugi, detention for canoodling."
See, we get to spend even more time together.
Looks like you're in charge of the meeting again, Yami.
I don't want to be in charge of Yugi's mess.
What mess?
The one you created with that dead body!
What dead body?
Da-!
Atem caught Yami as he fell. He cradled his body close, whispering that he was sorry. He glanced a chance look over at Yugi, but he was just looking at them in confusion. Why had Atem knocked Yami out?
"Atem?"
"Don't worry about it, Beautiful. We've got it handled." Atem smiled in a reassuring way.
Da…how many names did he know that began with Da? Da…Da…Da…Dartz! Dartz? No, Dartz hadn't died; he had fled back to the rogue territory. Something twitched in the back of his mind. Yugi shook his head. Rogue territory, why did that make his mind itch?
"Atem, how did I fall asleep after Isis told us about the pros and cons of that thing that we discovered?"
"It's not important."
"It is to me."
"Please don't do this. Don't try to remember. You'll only end up hurting yourself."
"Water."
"It was your idea."
"Mine?"
"Yes, by the time we found you, you were already screaming in pain, convulsing on the ground with it."
"Ugh, why would you do that?" Yami groaned sitting up in Atem's arms.
"Because I love you." Atem said kissing him.
"You have a funny way of showing it." Yami said pulling away.
Yugi snickered, turning away from them as the bell rang again. They headed to Physiology, which was a complete bore. Yugi was exactly sure what the teacher was droning on about, but it had something to do with Cults. That was the gist of their lecture anyway. Yugi was only too happy when lunch arrived so he could eat. He felt as if he could eat three trays of food. Something he really shouldn't have let pass through his mind, because that was exactly what Atem and Yami got him, three trays of food.
"Seriously? You know I can't eat all of this." Yugi groaned.
"Try to. After all you're eating for more than just one now." Yami whispered so low his friends didn't have a ghost's chance of hearing him.
"Jou?"
Yeah, I got you, Buddy!" he said grabbing two of the three trays and devouring them in record time.
"Hey! That was for, Yugi." Yami complained making to get up. As soon as he left his spot, Ryou took it.
"Thanks, Jou."
"Look, Yugi, look, Bakura's pups have been born. Aren't they cute?" Ryou asked showing him some pictures. There were six or seven hairless, blind, and small pups in the picture. Ryou looked so happy in one of the pictures as he held one of those hairless pups. You could just see Bakura in the background behind him watching attentively.
"They're kind of…"
"Yeah?"
"Adorable!" he couldn't say what he really thought. Ryou just looked to happy.
Smart move.
"You should come see them, and is it true?" Ryou asked hugging him.
"Yes, I'm pregnant."
"Oh, Yugi. Have you told Grandpa?"
"I'm not sure how. He might aim his gun at them. You know the one he got after Marchelle died?" Yugi frowned pushing him away.
"Oh, I didn't think of that." Ryou frowned as well. Malik sat down across from them.
"So, what do we do?"
"You do nothing. I must tell him myself."
"Good luck." Jou put in.
"I'm going to need all of it that I can get."
"So when?" Malik asked.
"The sooner I tell him, the better, or at least that's what I figure."
"I still like our idea, where we just don't tell him at all." Atem said nervously.
"Yeah, until like nine months from now. Doesn't that idea sound like fun? Eat, Yugi." Yami added.
"No, that does not sound like fun. He's bound to notice before then. It'll reach him in some way, believe me, this city is smaller than you give it credit for."
"Yeah, but we're worried about you. What if he doesn't accept it? I mean he's been so…accepting of everything else, we're just worried that he'll flip his lid on this subject." Atem said gently.
"Let me handle that. I can reason with him better than you can. I know him, I love him, he'll listen to me."
"So, when do you want to tell him?" Ryou asked.
"This weekend, I'm telling him this weekend."
"Oh, and those things are ready." Malik added.
"Things? What things?"
"You know, the things."
"I'm going to need a bit more of a description than that."
"You know, those things we donated some items for."
"Oh, those things. They're ready?"
"Yep!"
"Good, I was starting to get worried that we donated those items too late."
"Yep, they're ready to pick up at any time that is convenient for us."
"We're going tomorrow after school. Are you coming?" Jou asked.
"Could this conversation get any more descriptive. You know for those of us who don't know what you're talking about?" Atem inputted.
"Nope! I'm coming too."
"Alright, so it's a group thing. No Semes allowed." Ryou said. Everyone turned to look at Atem and Yami.
"Fine." They conceded.
"Yes!" they all high fived before the bell rang signaling the end of lunch. Yugi looked down at his untouched food tray, before he looked back u at his mates.
"Oops."
"You're eating twice as much tonight. After you know, it passes."
"Yes, Atem." Yugi smiled kissing his cheek and heading off to his next class.
[Time skip]
"Okay, everything is set up, now we just have to wait for them." Yugi said putting the final touches on the picnic table.
"Them?" Yami asked.
"Yes, Grandpa said if we were having a family outing than that meant that Sakura was going to be invited too." Yugi said looking down at his feet.
"And how do you feel about that?" Atem asked.
"She'll flip her lid for sure, so I made him promise that she would leave all weapons at home. Including her small pistol and pinkie sized daggers."
"Pinkie sized?" Yami asked.
"They're coated in poison."
"Ah, and here they are."
"Yugi, Grandpa said this was a family outing, to celebrate Grandpa's birthday a day early. So what are they doing here?" Sakura asked without even a foot out of the car.
"They are family to me too." Yugi said sitting Atem back down on the bench.
"Sakura, if you're going to turn this into world war three again, you need to leave." Grandpa sighed.
"Fine, I'll keep my attitude under check." She rolled her eyes.
"Alright, let's eat because it's after one already and I'm starving."
"Whatever you want, birthday boy." Yugi said grinning.
"At least call me a birthday man, Yugi."
"Naw, you're not that old yet." He kissed his wrinkled cheek before helping him to sit down in the chair at the head of the table. Sakura sunk down on the bench next to Yami and across from Atem. Yugi grimaced as he sat down Atem, in the only spot left.
"So, let's eat." He said grinning trying to salvage an already very awkward situation.
Lunch was a silent affair. The only sound was the clinking of plates on forks as they ate the lasagna that Yugi had made. Okay, he had a lot of help from Eliza but he had the honor of making the noodles, and putting the cheese on. They were also having broccoli, and a fruit salad with blueberries, pineapple, strawberries, and cantaloupe in it.
Lucky you're not on your drug.
Don't I know it. I'd be so hungry, and then getting sick. Not a good combo, not at all.
Speaking of, can you get sick on Yami tonight? It's just a suggestion.
I'm telling you, Atem, it's just bad timing. I really am sorry about last night.
"Ahem, I'm ready for presents now." Grandpa's voice interrupted.
"Right, but you need to open mine last, after all it's going to be the best one." Yugi said grinning and grabbing the present off the table quickly.
"If you say so. Okay, up first there is Atem's." he ripped the paper off to reveal a gift that had him frowning.
"What is it?"
"How'd you know I like these boys?"
"How do you think?" Atem asked pointing to Yugi.
"Ah, of course. Oh, it's a senet game board, with the pieces included." Grandpa answered setting the hand carved game board down. He'd probably investigate the pieces later more closely. He picked up Yami's next, and took the gift out of the bag to reveal a few books on ancient Egyptian cultures. Yugi had to pry the books from his hands to get him to continue opening his presents. He pouted slightly as he opened Sakura's gift to reveal a new set of carving knives, which were confiscated by Atem quickly and locked in the trunk. Yugi noticed that he hadn't used a key to do that though. Last Yugi handed him his gift which he opened and read. He blinked twice, shook his head and read it again.
"Something wrong, Grandpa?" Yugi asked nervousness dripping from his voice like slime oozing from a rusted out pipe.
"The next best thing to you being my Grandpa is you being a Great-Grandpa to my kids." He read aloud and slowly.
"Uh huh." Yugi said trying to smile but failing.
"So, when's it due?" he asked tossing the sign behind him.
"I don't get it." Sakura frowned getting up and going to pick up the sign.
"October."
"October! Oh, it's due in October, Sakura!" Grandpa shouted jumping up out of his chair in mock joy. Yugi quickly got up and dragged both Atem and Yami behind him.
"What is?"
"The baby!" Fury was slowly entering his Grandpa's eyes.
"Baby?"
"Yes, Yugi is pregnant! I don't know how, but he's pregnant. Isn't that wonderful? No wonder he didn't want you to bring your weapons, you would have had a field day with them."
"Um Grandpa, it's not a baby." Yugi interrupted.
"It's not?"
"No, it's two."
"You did what to my baby brother?!"
"Ah, technically, it takes two to make a baby, Sakura. In case you didn't know that, it takes two to tango around in the sheets."
"Yugi?" Yami interrupted.
"Yes?"
"You're not helping. If anything, you're making things worse."
"I know."
"You know, I handled a lot coming from you two. I handled the kidnapping, the biting, the molestation, the injuries, the death threats, the suicides, the sex, yes the sex, but this, this is too much. Too much for me to handle, and if I hadn't promised Yugi's Mother on her death bed that I would let him love whoever he wanted. Whoever he wanted, I would turn you over to the Hunters right now, I would. But I promised her, and she was a like a daughter to me. I swear, it's almost like she knew you were coming." Grandpa ranted.
"I do, I do love them."
"You're much too young to know what love is." Sakura sneered.
"I…I just wanted to be honest with you. I don't want to lose you as family, but if that's what it takes to be with them…" Yugi trailed off.
"I just need some time to take it all in, and maybe buy a book about vampire pregnancies."
"I'm sure Arthur could help you with that." Yami said quietly.
"Grandpa, it's like I've been trying to tell you all along. They're using him, they didn't give a damn about him. They're only looking for something to benefit them, and now they have it. They have what every Hunter I've ever talked to, including their beloved friend Mahad, says they've always craved, a child. Who's to say that once they have what they want they want toss Yugi aside like unwanted trash, hmm?"
"Because their hearts beat for me?" Yugi asked quietly looking at the ground.
"What did you say?" Sakura, Atem, and Yami all asked at the same time.
"I've heard them, Saki, they beat, both of them."
"Don't be foolish, Yugi. Their hearts don't beat; they're one step away from dead. Their hearts are as lifeless as them."
"You're wrong, you're so very wrong, Sakura. Until you can accept that Atem and Yami are a part of my life and not going anywhere, I disown you. You'll never see your niece or nephew, whatever gender they may be, until you can accept my decisions as mine. Until you can accept that I love these two vampires behind me, and I would stake my life to protect them." Yugi said firmly tears starting to form in the corner of his eyes.
"Oh, no you won't." Atem growled.
"Hush, Atem. You'll never see me again until you accept my new way of life, and you'll never see my children."
"Yugi, they're doing everything they can to turn you against me, can't you see that?"
"No, all I see is some selfish bitch who only cares about herself and her career. She only cares about what she wants to see, and not what's really there. She's so blinded by hate, and revenge that she refuses to allow anything good enter her small little world, no matter what good that is in the form of in. So I'm taking myself out of your little world, Sakura. I'm taking myself out, and never entering it again until it's changed."
"Yugi, if you do this, I will make sure they're put on the lethal list. I will make sure that they are locked away or killed." Sakura threatened.
"And I'll put every Hunter secret not know to the world out there."
"You don't know any."
"Don't I? They've started manipulating minds, and recruiting at the age of five in America. They persecute anyone who gets in there way Europe, whether they're guilty or not. They make up excuses for their slaughtering of hundreds of innocent vampire children. I know of the biggest base of Hunters in Japan, and its location. In Asia, Hunters are letting Rogues run free because they may have only killed many human adults, but only one human child. A child between the ages of three and seven, sometimes even younger. In Africa, Hunters-"
"Alright, enough! I get it! You know the worst of us, but even you're too nice to release such information."
"Yes, I am…but I know something in me that isn't. You threaten them, you threaten me, and therefore you're threatening my young. Isis herself said that when I feel that my young are threatened my instincts will take control. Don't make it, I really don't want to hurt you."
"It's too late, you already have." She huffed going back to the car and getting in slamming the door.
"I guess we're leaving. Yugi, come and visit, please? I miss you." Grandpa said sadly.
"Of course, Grandpa. Anytime you want." Yugi moved forward to give him a hug.
"Alright." He returned it and then left with his sister.
Once they were gone, Yugi broke down crying, falling to his knees in anguish. Yami bent down and touched his shoulder, and Yugi turned into his chest taking, soaking up, all the comfort he was giving. Atem rubbed his back as he just cried. Nothing was said, nothing could be said. They had both thrown threats, it was Yugi's that actually weighed more though, and he knew that. He felt as if every time he saw his sister, he just dug his grave deeper and deeper with her. She was going to tell the entire Organization now, he had no doubts about that, but what they were going to do with that information, that was what scared him.
"No Hunter will get close to you." Yami promised.
"It's you guys I'm worried about." Yugi whispered.
"We can take care of ourselves. You just worry about, Yugi." Atem said calmly.
"You promise? You promise you won't enter risky situations unnecessarily?" Yugi asked looking up at them.
"We promise, Yugi, we promise." They said together.
"Good, I wouldn't be able to survive if I lost you guys. I'm sorry about trying to commit suicide last year; I think I finally know how you felt when I tried that."
"Well, the apology is a little late, but we'll accept it anyway. Come on, let's clean up and go home." Atem chuckled.
[Time skip]
"No, I'm tired, so I'm just going to go to bed." Yugi yawned. Yami was still laughing at Atem. Yugi had gotten sick on him again. He couldn't really blame the vampire for thinking that he had some kind of vendetta against him. If he was always getting sick on, he'd probably think the same thing too.
"I'm going to get you back for this, Yugi!" Atem yelled from the bathroom.
"I don't have a grudge against you, Atem, I swear!"
"Yeah, yeah, sure you don't."
"Come on, let's just get you cleaned up and changed into some jammies for bed." Yami was still laughing at Atem.
"I've got a better idea, come here, Habibi."
"Ew! No, I don't want a hug from you!" Yami ran out of the bathroom, out the door and down the stairs.
"But I'm only trying to show you how much I love you!" Atem yelled running after him. Yugi laughed at their behavior. They looked like two teenagers in love just now, instead of the ancient men that they were. Shaking his head, Yugi lay down and started to fall asleep. Right before he did though, a couple of words from his Grandpa earlier passed through his mind, leading him flawlessly into a memory dream.
"I swear, it's almost like she knew you were coming."
"Ugh!" Atem punched his hand through the other's head, before pulling it back out again.
"How did it get so far away from its territory?" Yami asked flipping it over with his foot.
"I don't know. What's that?" he asked pointing to a small yellow bundle next to it. Yami bent down and picked it up. He pulled back the blanket to reveal a small face. Yugi gasped.
"It's a baby." Yami said frowning showing it to Atem.
"Preying on the young is forbidden; even a rogue should know that." Atem growled taking the baby from Yami and holding it close.
"Where do you think it came from?" Yami asked looking around a sudden sound filled the air. It was so familiar to Yugi, there was no way he couldn't recognize it.
B-BMP! B-BMP! B-BMP! B-BMP!
"D-did your heart just beat?" Yami asked looking at Atem with wide eyes. His voice betrayed the barest amount of hurt and betrayal.
"I…yes, it did." Atem answered in a shocked voice.
"Here, let me hold him." Yami took the baby from Atem and held it close this time.
B-BMP! B-BMP! B-BMP!
"Ah! Yours did too. So rare, but still possible." Atem said in wonder.
The baby chose this moment to wake, opening two small eyes and looking up at them with a cute yawn. It blinked a couple of times, before smiling which had Atem and Yami smiling back, the baby's smile was that irresistible. It untangled its hands from the blanket and reached up trying to reach Yami's bangs so it could tug on them. When this proved futile, it instead grabbed his hand and studied it for a second before putting one of his fingers in his mouth and sucking on it.
"Awww, it's so cute, can we keep it?" Yami asked looking up at Atem.
"YUGI! BABY, WHERE ARE YOU!? SOMEONE, PLEASE! HELP ME FIND MY CHILD! YUGI! YUGI! YUGI! BABY, MY BABY BOY! PLEASE, ANYBODY, HAVE YOU SEEN MY BABY?" A woman's voice wrenched though the air as Atem opened his mouth to answer.
"Mama." The baby said before giggling and saying it again with more joy.
"No, Yami, we can't." he said looking over towards a woman in the distance looking around frantically and towing another child along with her.
"But, she'll never know. She's far enough away that we can slip away now, and she'll never be the wiser. We can raise him as our own. We can move even, so she won't have even a half of a chance of finding him."
"No, you know our laws, we don't steal children." He looked down at the baby with longing in his eyes.
"Can't we bend them just this once, please?"
"No, come on." Atem gave him a small shove in the direction of the hysterical woman.
"But he's ours."
"We'll find him again."
"Are you sure?" Yami asked uncertainly.
Atem paused and looked down at the baby in his arms. He was still smiling cutely up at them. A butterfly came and landed upon his nose, making him go cross-eyed just to keep it in sight. Atem chuckled, before placing a hand on his small head and muttering something so low under his breath, Yugi wasn't able to hear what it was he said.
"Yeah, I'm sure."
"Okay." Yami said getting a better grip on the baby as they walked confidently towards the woman who had noticed the yellow bundle in their arms and was running to meet them.
"Mommy, slow down." the little girl complained as her Mother tugged her along.
"Oh, my baby boy, thank you, thank you so much. Wherever did you find him?" she asked tears streaming from her eyes as she held her child close and peppered his face with kisses.
"In the arms of rogue, you should really keep a better eye on your young." Atem said calmly.
"He was in the stroller right next to me, and then he wasn't. And then someone ran past saying there was rogue in the area, and oh, thank you, thank you."
"Momma." The baby said.
"That's right, Momma's here, Momma's here." She said rocking him back and forth.
"Keep a closer eye on him this time, okay?" Yami suggested turning away.
"Wait! There must be some way I can repay you."
"Just keep that little one safe, and that'll be repayment enough." Atem told her wrapping an arm around Yami's waist and leading him away. There was loud shriek behind them, before the baby's crying was heard. Atem just sighed, and continued to lead Yami away.
"Yugi! Yugi! Wake up, wake up!" Yami was shaking him awake.
"Uh, what's going on?"
"Nothing, you just needed to wake up."
"Okay, either one of you care to explain what that was?" he asked sitting up.
They both stiffened, before relaxing and sitting down. Atem opened his mouth before closing it again. Yami tried before he came up with the same result, which was nothing. Yugi rolled his eyes, before filling the silence with his own voice.
"I didn't know you knew my Mother."
"We only met her, once." Yami answered.
"Hmm, I'm still waiting for that explanation."
"We don't have one."
"It makes me wonder though."
"What does?" Atem asked.
"How different my life would have been had you gone through with it."
"You'd have no friends, be under constant surveillance, never would have met Sarugaki, your entire life would have been altered."
"Thank you."
"Hm?"
"For doing the right thing." Yugi explained kissing them both before going into the bathroom.
"You're welcome." They whispered.
Okay, thank you to everyone for your reviews. I'm trying my hardest to get a new computer as soon as possible. I've already started my research on possible models, and saving up the money to buy them. My Uncle is helping me, and I should have a new one by the end of April, hopefully. Until then, I will continue to write my stories at the Library, and my Grandma is helping me by allowing to me to borrow hers too. Which I'm on right now. I don't particularly like laptops, but I'm putting up with them because I love you guys so much. Right, thanks for following and favoriting this, and thanks again for not reviewing the non chapter. Please review. Midnight ;p
