If you have somewhere early to be tomorrow, don't start reading this now, wait. It's seriously that long. I do not own Yugioh, enjoy! [YUGI, YAMI, and ATEM]
Chapter 42
"He's still not showing, Atem!" Yami whined.
"That's because it's the first day of the month. The New Mother's Guide clearly stated in the third to fourth month I would start showing. Not third month here, hello belly." Yugi said shaking his head.
"But I want you to get bigger." He said wrapping his arms around his middle.
"Yami, you're making it difficult for me to work."
"So stop." Atem suggested.
"No, Atem, I need to set this up. It would go faster if you guys, I don't know, helped."
"Come on, Yugi, you've been at it all week, take a break. Come stroll through the garden with us."
Yugi looked over at him as he finally clicked the mobile into place. His face lit up with joy as he moved both him and Yami back to take a look at his accomplishment. He had gotten rid of the bed, and replaced it with two cribs. He had made sure to put matting around the inside to protect the kids from the bars. He had read some pretty scary stories on the internet of children getting stuck on and in them. Then he attempted to put the mobiles up. He'd only got one in so far, and he had bought all this stuff, or rather Atem and Yami had, Tuesday.
He had agreed to no animals in the nursery and had instead went with a moon and star theme. So they had shopped for the bigger stuff, and he already had a dreading feeling that his friends were planning a baby shower behind his back. They were always huddled over some notebook that would disappear as soon as he showed up. Their big grins is really what sold him on the thought that they were up to no good though. Yugi smiled and looked over at Atem.
"Okay."
Atem smiled back and held out his hand. Yugi took it and Yami finally let go of him. Only to grab his free hand and interlace their fingers together. He thought it would have been awkward after he had said no to their proposal of marriage, but if anything, things were better between them than before. Like a weight had been lifted off their shoulders and they no longer felt the need to carry it around.
They had sat down and discussed in more depth why he didn't want to be married to them. He told them that it wasn't that he didn't want to, it was just he didn't want to right now. This answer had confused them a little so, he explained further that he wouldn't mind when he was older getting married. But right now at 17, he just wanted to be young, and do stupid things. Yami had teased him that he was already well on his way in that department. In a twist of events, Yugi was tickling him as he apologized through laughter. Atem asked, after he was done tickling Yami, how much older he had to be until they tried to propose again. Yugi had jokingly said 60, which made them laugh, but seriously he had said in his 30's somewhere, he could see himself happily settled down and married. Atem had teased him by saying with a few more kids surrounding you, huh? He playfully smacked him, and Atem complained to Yami that Yugi was abusing him. Yami told him that he brought it upon himself. Yugi laughed at them, feeling light and free, more so than he had in a long time.
Yugi walked through the garden, enjoying the company he had. Enjoying their hands clasped together like this. He was surprised when Atem had told him that morning that they had cancelled all the meetings for the weekend. Saying they just wanted to spend time with him, as they hadn't done so for a long time. The tiny speech nearly brought tears to Yugi's eyes, much to Yami's and Atem's surprise. He held them in somehow though, and crashed himself into their chests, hugging them. Of course they had hugged him back, soaking up every second of it, as he was doing.
Finally he had some time when he didn't have to share them. He really hated sharing them. Especially now for some reason. It was weird, he had never felt like this before, but ever since he had become pregnant, he either wanted them in his sights at all times or nothing to do with them. But the most constant thing was sharing, even when he didn't want to be around them, he didn't want to share them. He wanted them to himself. Didn't want anyone coming near them, talking to them, or touching them. Only him. They were after all his mates.
"So possessive." Atem whispered in his ear.
"I can't help it, you guys are hot. Anyone might try to walk off with you." Yugi said back.
"Pfft, not a chance." Yami said swinging him up into his arms and making him let go of Atem's hand.
"Hey! I was holding that!" Atem complained.
"And now you're not. I want all of him, not just a part of him."
"Share the human!"
"No! It's mine!" Yami said back swinging him onto his back and running around the garden. Yugi laughed, no longer having to worry about feeling dizzy and sick from the fast running. He glanced behind them to see that he was Atem was catching up.
"Run faster, Yami!" Yugi encouraged as the dodged between trees.
"I'm going as fast as I can."
"I could probably run faster." Yugi whispered.
"Yeah…" they stopped at the edge of a cliff and switched positions.
"Ready?" Yugi asked hitching Yami up higher.
"Go!"
"Gotcha!"
"AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!"
SPLASH!
Yugi's head popped up above the surface first, and he spit a fountain of salt water out of his mouth. Atem popped up next, shaking water out of his hair, and Yami last. Yugi looked at the two of them, and just laughed as they all floated there.
"Could you maybe not 'get us' over a cliff next time, Atem?" Yami asked.
"Yeah, that was bad timing." He said sheepishly.
Yugi shook his head before swimming for the shore. He heard Atem and Yami follow suit. Yugi stumbled up onto the beach and collapsed on the sand. He was still laughing slightly.
"What's so funny?" Atem asked.
"I was just thinking, if I wasn't pregnant, I can have been seriously injured by that fall. Weird huh?" he laughed some more.
"Are you in shock?" Yami asked feeling his forehead.
"No, lay with me, we're supposed to be relaxing." Yugi said yanking them both down.
"Who are you and what have you done with our mate? The real Yugi would be upset that I just knocked him off a forty foot cliff, and go complain to his friends about it." Atem accused giving him a suspicious look.
"Really? It didn't seem like forty feet. More like…five."
"Well, gravity does have a way with throwing people off." Yami nodded.
"Seriously, where is the real Yugi Mutou?" Atem asked straddling him down and pinning his hands to the sand.
"Right here, Lover."
"There's something wrong with him."
"I kind of like it." Yami said cheerfully.
"It must be his emotions." Atem said sitting back on his heels.
"Aren't they wonderful?" Yugi asked putting his hands behind his head and staring lovingly up at Atem.
"For now, but they might change in an hour."
"This is true." Yami nodded.
Yugi just stared up at them as they discussed him. He wondered if he had ever told them how handsome they were. Who cared if their beauty was inhuman, but then again, maybe it wasn't. After all he'd seen memories of Yami when he was well…younger, and he'd been beautiful then too. He wondered if their kids would have their beauty? Their handsome sharp features, Kami knew it would be better than his baby face, girly features, and innocent appeal.
Lips pressed gently against his. Coaxing and loving, with no pressure to respond back. He did though, eyes slipping closed as he cupped the cheek of the one kissing him. Hand tightening in their shirt, pulling himself closer. Well, as close as he could get, what with being straddled by someone else.
Your handsome too, Yugi, and trust me, in no way are you ever going to be defined as girly.
Yeah, what about that shriek that I let out that one time you tossed me onto the bed?
I thought that was all masculine and not in the least bit girly.
Shut up.
They all laughed, as Yugi pulled away from Yami, because that was who had been kissing him. Yugi rolled his eyes as he just stared at them. It was starting to get dark out, and he was starting to get tired, but he wanted to see the stars come out. Wanted to see the sun set, disappear on the horizon of the waves. Atem smirked and climbed off of him, and pulled him into his arms, as the three of them sat there watching the sun as it seemed to slowly sink beneath the water at the edge of the world.
The stars started to pop up as the last few rays of sun were vanishing. Yugi found Orion's belt, the big dipper and the small. The North Star was shining brightly in the sky, almost twinkling and winking at them. It made him think of the song twinkle, twinkle little star. He actually started to hum it absent mindedly. Atem and Yami looked down at him as if he had lost his mind, but he was oblivious as he stared at the beautiful world around him.
"Come on, Beautiful, we have to feed tomorrow which means you need a good night's rest." Atem said making to stand up.
"Can't we stay just a little longer?" Yugi asked.
"Okay, but only five minutes." Yami conceded.
"Yami!"
"What?"
"You are such a pushover."
"Good thing too."
"Why's that?"
"Never would have ended up with you if I wasn't."
"Okay, I can agree to that."
They started to make out around him, but he didn't care. The sounds of their lips disconnecting and reconnecting was actually kind of soothing. Like it had a rhythmic tempo to it. This was probably why he failed to notice his eye lids slowly fluttering close, his head lolling back to rest on Atem's shoulder, and his whole body just going into a slump. He was completely content where he was, so why wouldn't he fall asleep in the arms of one of the men loved? Why wouldn't he feel safe?
CRASH!
"What was that?" Yami asked.
"It came from the ocean, come on." Atem said grabbing his hand and leading him towards the noise at a super-fast pace. They stopped at the edge of a high cliff in time to see a boat sinking beneath the surface, and several heads bob below it as well.
They didn't even hesitate; they just dived off the cliff and straight into the water. Yami swam away grabbing two people at once and tugging them towards the surface. Atem went in a different direction, as he saw a small figure struggling to get to the surface and failing horribly. He wrapped his arm around their torso and started to pull them towards the surface. He broke the surface just as a huge wave came upon them, breaking his hold on the human, and dragging him away and beneath the surface again. He growled in frustration, before diving back down and getting him again, and pulling him back up to the surface and towards the shore.
B-BMP! B-BMP! B-BMP!
"No way." Atem muttered placing him down on the sandy shore. His eyes were fading in and out of focus, as he gasped for breath, choking up sea water. He leant down and whispered words in his ear, again it was so low, that Yugi couldn't hear them.
"We've gotta go, there are Hunters in the area." Yami said stopping by Atem's side dripping wet.
"Alright, come on." He connected eyes with the boy he had rescued for a second before they both vanished back into the water to wait until the Hunters left.
Yugi jolted up in bed, startling Koneko who had been sitting on his chest. He grabbed her up and held her, she just purred enjoying the attention. That flash of red, they were Atem's eyes? Huh, he had thought that they were the lights from the ambulance or search and rescue workers. What had he whispered in his ear though? He couldn't remember, and now that he thought about it, he had said something in a low voice when they found him that first time too. What exactly had he done, what had he said?
"Yugi? Are you okay?" Yami asked stepping into the room from the Nursery.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just thinking." He answered.
"About what?"
"Things."
"Could you be a little more descriptive?"
"No."
"Okay, well, do you want to see what Atem and I did?" Yami asked jerking his thumb at the Nursery.
"Um, sure."
Yugi scooted off the bed, Koneko still in his arms, and walked into the Nursery. He just about dropped Koneko. The room was painted black, like the night sky, and there were splatters of white paint all over the place, Yugi assumed that they represented stars. He dropped to his knees, horrified by the sight before him.
"What have you done?" he asked.
"We made it into the star and moon theme like you wanted." Yami explained proudly.
"The babies can't sleep in here. It'll be too scary. We're taking about an infant here, Yami, a baby. It's supposed to be a bright cheerful theme, one that represents comfort, safety, and love. When I look at this room, I see shadows on the walls, a space that's meant to invoke fear, and absolutely no way for a baby to feel safe. What were you thinking?"
"What's wrong?" Atem asked poking his head into the room.
"He doesn't like it." Yami responded in an angry tone, his arms crossed over his chest.
"I told you he wouldn't. That the room was too dark and creepy, but you didn't listen to me."
"I wouldn't expect him to appreciate anything I did anyway."
"Atem, take Koneko. Yami, look at me." He shoved the cat into Atem's arms, and cupped Yami's face between his hands, forcing him to look at him. Koneko hissed behind him.
"Tch, and here I thought we were getting along. How disappointing." Atem complained. Yugi didn't even glance in their direction.
"This our baby we're talking about. When the curtains are drawn, and the door closed, they'll be cast in darkness. They'll cry, and they won't stop, because they'll be scared. Do you really want to listen to that night after night and day after day?"
"No, I guess not."
"Please, not for me, but for the baby, paint it a different color. Make it happier. I do appreciate what you were trying to accomplish here. All the hard work that went into it."
"But?"
"No but, just a wish."
"What kind."
"That you would use that brain that Kami gave you every once in a while."
"Are you calling me and idiot?"
"I never said such a thing."
"Yes, yes I am." Atem interjected.
"You're not a part of this conversation, Pharaoh!"
"Well, now I feel left out."
Yami glared at Atem, taking a step forward and pushing Yugi out of the way at the same time. Yugi quickly plucked Koneko from Atem's arms and popped over to the other side of the room. Yami tackled Atem into their room a second later. Yugi looked down at Koneko who was looking up at him.
"I hope you teach the kids better manners than they're doing."
She purred, rubbing the top of her head against his chin. Yugi chuckled and walked over to the door, leaning against the frame. He watched them tussle, yanking the curtains off the bed. And here he had thought that they were just for show, a decoration, but it appeared that they weren't.
He felt like the evil character in a movie as he petted Koneko. He felt as if an evil laugh was needed here. Still, though, he should probably stop them before the destroyed the entire room, and judging by the way they kept slamming into his desk, they were intending to do just that.
"Alright, that's enough, cut it out." Yugi said quietly. Nothing happened.
"Knock it off or you're not eating today."
Still silence. Yugi let out a little laugh as he went to go sit on the edge of the bed, still petting Koneko. There was movement as they struggled with the curtain, before it came undone and off with a giant whump. Atem was topless, had he been wearing a shirt before? Yugi hadn't really been paying attention, he had been too busy babying Yami.
"I do not need babying!" Yami said shooting up beside him. He too was topless, and Yugi knew he had been wearing a shirt. He rolled his eyes, got up and left the room. He walked down to the garden and set Koneko down.
At first she looked around, like she didn't know what to do, and then, as if instinct took over, shot off into a boxwood bush. Yugi smiled and plopped down onto the grass, plopping down and looking up at the clear blue sky. Or at least he tried to, all he really saw were his mates.
"You wouldn't really deny us of food, would you?" Atem asked.
"That depends."
"On?" Yami asked.
"Whether you can catch me or not." Yugi grinned vanishing only to reappear over by the fountain.
"Now, you know we can't catch you!" Atem yelled.
"You're not even trying."
"Why should we waste our energy for a game you're so obviously going to win?" Yami asked crossing his arms.
"Play with me." He pouted squatting down on the edge of the fountain.
"No." they said stubbornly.
"Koneko!" Yugi called. She came out with a bird and a mouse, hanging by its tail, in her mouth. Yugi laughed a little.
"Come here, my little huntress." She walked over to him, her head held high. She was so proud of her hunting skills, which was apparent when she dropped them at Yugi's feet and stood there oh so proud like, chest puffed out, straight and tall, with her tail curled around her feet. Yugi shook his head, picking her up and thinking she was worse than them.
"Gotcha." Two pairs of arms wrapped around him.
"You said you didn't want to play." Yugi pouted.
"It was a ruse Dear, to get you to let your guard down." Yami kissed his cheek.
"It won't work again."
"No, probably not, but at least we got to use it once." Atem said licking the shell of his ear.
"Agh!" Yugi was immediately trying to wipe it off.
"Why do you do that?" Yami asked.
"I love his reaction." Atem smirked.
Yugi turned his head away, and accidently connected lips with Yami. Their small kisses quickly turned into needy and aggressive ones. Yugi freed one of his hands to cup the back of Yami's head, tilting it slightly. Their kissing was brought to an abrupt end when a hand was literally shoved between their lips and yanked Yugi away.
"I don't think Koneko likes you kissing us, Yugi."
He's just jealous because he can't join in, Yami.
"Hey!" Atem exclaimed as Yami threw back his head laughing.
"Come on, let's go eat." Yami said scooping up Yugi and Koneko.
"I'm serious, her fur was sticking up on end as she stared up at the two of you."
"Sure it was."
"Would I make that up?"
"Yes." Yugi and Yami answered.
"That's it, I'm not feeding from you."
"Uh, okay, and that is a punishment for me how?" Yugi asked thoroughly confused
"He has a point." Yami said shaking from holding back his laughter.
"You…don't get to feel my teeth sinking into you."
"Ooo, what a punishment that is." Yugi mocked.
"It will be. You'll see!" Atem said stomping off.
"He'll be begging for food before the night is out." Yugi said confidently from his position in Yami's arms.
"Probably." Yami agreed kissing his forehead.
[Time skip]
"But I'm hungry." Atem whined as he sat on the floor by the bed. Yami was in the other room painting it white again. He had protested at first, but after a look from Yugi, that visibly sent a chill down Yami's spine, he was quick to do as told.
"You should have thought about that earlier then, huh?"
"Please?"
"No."
"You're not very nice."
"You were the one who wanted to punish me by not eating. I still don't understand how that was a punishment." Yugi said flipping onto his belly and supporting his head on his hands.
"I didn't think that through very well."
"Clearly."
"Alright, what do I have to do to get you to let me eat?"
"A free back and neck massage?"
"Done." Atem said sitting on hips. He started at the top and slowly worked his way down. By the time he was done, Yugi was half asleep. He barely felt Atem bite him and drink his blood. He did hear Yami teasing Atem though.
"His blood is much too tasty to for you to give up willingly for a day, isn't it?"
Is that paint on your cheek?
Yeah, he made me repaint the room white. Which reminds me, was it white to begin with?
No, I believe it was more of a ruby color.
Hmm, I wonder why he said again then.
Tired. Need sleep. Quiet.
"I didn't take that much." Atem said softly licking up the excess blood.
I fed twice because someone didn't want to eat this morning.
Details.
Just put me to bed.
With or without clothes on?
Atem…
Don't tease him, he's too tired for that.
Ha, whoa!
You took too long. Now, you're going to be my pillow. Yugi rubbed his cheek against Atem's bare chest. Wait, bare? When did he loose his shirt? Ah, well, at least he had a better pillow now.
"You'll get no complaints from me, Little One." Atem said wrapping an arm around his waist and pulling him closer. He felt him shift them a little, before Yami was laying on top of him. Aw, he was a sardine. He hated that! They both chuckled before Yami shot up.
"We can't let him fall asleep without eating first. Isis will have our heads if we let him do that again." Yami ranted flying out the door and down the stairs. Yugi lifted his head blinking, before putting it back down on Atem's chest.
"Atem?"
"Yes?"
"Happy 5327th Birthday."
"Thanks, Yugi. Now don't go falling asleep before he gets back. Yugi? Yugi..."
Yugi ignored him and fell asleep anyway. When he awoke he was alone in the room. To be fair, he knew he only had the weekend with them, but he would've liked to at least wake up with them there. It seemed as if lately their workload had doubled, he just wish he knew why. He barely saw them anymore.
"Now that's not true, you see us all the time." He looked up to see Yami leaning against one of his bed posts smirking.
"Yami." Yugi said quietly before jumping off the bed and tackling him to the ground.
"You know you're too energetic for someone who's pregnant."
"I love you, Yami. I'm sorry I made you repaint the room yesterday."
"No, you were right. They would be too frightened to sleep in a room filled with darkness."
"But you know, if you want, you can darken this room anytime you want. You and Atem both." Yugi said looking down at him with half lidded eyes.
"Okay, I'm getting you ready for school now."
"Come on, Yami, darken my life."
"No, and I'm not only saying that because I have no idea what you mean by it. I'm also saying that because you need to get ready for school. Also, Atem and I were talking this morning, and we just realized something. Yugi, you sent in College Applications in November. Shouldn't you have heard back from at least one by now?"
That worked. Yugi was off of Yami in a flash of speed, in his closet and back out, vanishing into the bathroom all in 30 seconds flat. Yami rapped his knuckles on the door, but received no answer from Yugi.
"Yugi, what did I say?" he asked quietly.
"Nothing." His voice cracked on the word.
"Yugi, are you crying?"
"No." he sniffed.
"Liar. Come on, what did I say?"
"I have…all of them."
"So which one will you be attending in the fall?"
Sniff.
"Yugi?"
The door opened, presenting Yami with a tear streaked face, with more threatening to fall. He gulped before pushing gently past Yami, and making his way over to his desk. He pulled out a drawer reaching in towards the back, and pushed a secret button in the side. There was a soft click, and secret compartment opened in the side. Yugi pulled out a stack of papers, before reaching back into the drawer and pushing the button again. The compartment snapped shut, sealing so tightly it appeared as if it didn't exist at all. Even if you were to run your fingers along the edges, you'd never find a seam.
"I…didn't know it did that." Yami said in wonder.
"They're many secrets about this desk that you don't know about. Did you honestly think I didn't notice that my desk at Grandpa's had been replaced? The replica is stunning, but I easily found out which one is the real desk. Like I said, it had many secrets you're unaware of." Yugi smiled slightly.
"So, what are these?" Yami asked pointing to the stack of papers in Yugi's hands.
"Here, I don't care if you read them anymore. Becoming a high school math teacher was just a pipe dream anyway." Yugi set the papers on the desk, grabbed his backpack, and walked out. He already knew Yami would be upset when he read them, and didn't want to stick around for it. He couldn't blame them, he had been upset too. Come home from the trip to America, found them sitting on his bed. He had expected good news, not a bunch of rejection letters, based solely on where his residence currently was. He should have put down his Grandpa's home instead, the outcome probably would have been better.
Yugi had just started to walk down the path leading out of the Grey Stone Palace grounds when it happened. A shriek of pure fury rented through the still morning air. It made Yugi drop his morning smoothie, which he had to admit was quite tasteful for once, and clap his hands over his ears. He had never, ever, heard a sound like that come from the Palace, and it made him wonder just who made it. He looked sadly down upon what was supposed to be his breakfast, with the drug in it too. He sighed, now he would have to eat cafeteria food, joy.
He continued on to school, convinced in the idea that the noise he had just heard had nothing to do with him. How could it? Yami would probably read the papers and then rush them off to Atem. They would both seethe all day until he came home, and then demand why he hadn't shown it to them before. In all honesty, he had been ashamed of it. Yugi Mutou, top of the class, not get into College? Or a University? The idea was unthinkable, even to him, it still was. Maybe it was fate though. After all, he was going to be a parent soon, so why should he even be thinking about it? He should be putting his kids first, and if that meant being a stay home Mom, then alright, he would accept the role.
He let out a short laugh. All that arguing with Atem and Yami about furthering his education, and where had that gotten him? Nowhere. All that fighting over something that turned out fruitless anyway. He had been so confident of his chances of getting into Tokyo University that he had never taken in the chance that he might not. All based on an address. He didn't think it was allowed for Colleges and Universities to discriminate like that, he'd been so wrong.
Yugi sighed as he passed through the school gates. He was so hungry. Feeding seven could be a real chore. Well, feeding seven for now at least. Soon, the number would dwindle down to three. Him and two unborn infants. He still wasn't sure how he felt about being a parent, let alone a Mother, but there would be plenty of time to come to grips with that. Plenty of time.
The school day passed by in a blur. He was just barely aware of what he had learned in each class. When he left, he headed, not for home, but instead for his Grandpa's. He wasn't ready to see their disappointment yet, wasn't ready to face them. They got what they wanted though, in a way. They had never wanted him to attend College. They were getting their wish. Funny, how things worked out like that sometimes.
"Grandpa?" Yugi called as he walked into the shop to find no one behind the counter. The old man came bustling out of the back with a small box in his hands. He almost dropped it when he saw Yugi though.
"Yugi, what are you doing here?"
"Avoiding a fight I know is coming."
"I like it, come here and give this old man a hug." Yugi chuckled before appearing in front of him and giving him a hug.
"I said give me a hug, not a heart attack to go with it."
"It's good to see you, Grandpa."
"Yugi?" Sakura's voice called coming down the stairs. He turned to her.
"Sakura." He gave her a curt nod but no more acknowledgment than that.
"Oh come, they're not here, you don't have to put on a show."
"I'm not."
"Yugi." Her voice was sad with a slight whine to it.
"Don't start with me."
"You're horrible!" she yelled before storming out of the shop. The bell over the shop rang again, and Yugi took one glance at the door before ducking behind his Grandpa.
"I don't think that'll hide you for very long. After all, soon you're going to be bigger than me." Yugi playfully smacked his Grandpa's shoulder, making sure to keep his strength in check.
"Yugi, why are you hiding?" Yami asked creeping closer.
"I told you he heard you this morning. I don't know a soul alive who didn't." Atem teased. Yugi placed his hands on his Grandpa's shoulders and looked over his shoulder at them.
"That was you?"
"I…yes, it was, I was upset." Yami said turning his head away.
"Pfft, upset would be a bit of an understatement. You looked ready to kill."
"Well…you read them too!"
"And decided you were angry enough for the both of us."
"How come I didn't feel any of this anger?" Yugi asked sliding his hands around his Grandpa again, and practically using him as a crutch at the same time.
"Because I channeled it all towards me. It didn't help me any, but I didn't want you to feel overwhelmed by it." Atem explained.
"I…it was just a dream. It doesn't matter."
"You fought with us over this for an entire month, and now you tell me it doesn't matter?"
"Yes?"
"You are a liar, Yugi."
"It's not even a possibility anymore."
"After all the phone calls we made today, it better be a possibility." Yami shot back.
"Phone calls?"
"Yes, the first to our lawyer, and the rest to the schools that rejected you."
"Schools? What schools? Who rejected him? From where?" Grandpa interjected.
"Every College and University that he applied to rejected him. Their reasoning? They didn't want their campuses to become open feeding grounds. Something they were afraid would happen if they allowed Yugi to attend there."
"Why is it you never tell me anything?" Grandpa asked turning his head slightly to look at Yugi.
"Because your reactions are worse than theirs sometimes."
"Poppycock! I'm calling our lawyer. There's no way they're going to take threats from a vampire and his lawyer, it'll take a human to settle this out." Grandpa said shaking Yugi off, placing the box on the counter, and making his way towards the phone.
"Grandpa! No, he'll make a bigger mess out of it."
"I don't care, you're going to TU and that's final."
"They don't want me!"
"They don't know what they want. This smells strongly of Hunter involvement. You remember what the schools used to be like when you were young, don't you?"
"Yeah. Rebecca and Otogi had to attend a different school because they were the offspring of vampires, and there was the possibility that they could become one too. It's only been a couple of years since they integrated the schools. Right before I started High School actually."
"Precisely, and who protested the most about the integration?"
"The Hunters. They were afraid it would endanger human children."
"Does this reason not sound similar as to that one?"
"Yeah."
"Like I said before, I'm calling our lawyer."
"No. This has got to stop. It's only going to happen if someone confronts the Head of the Organization head on. And I don't mean work with them. I mean go over there and give them a piece of their mind. I will not allow my life, or any others lives, to be controlled underhandedly by them any longer."
"That's great, Yugi, but the only ones who know where the Headquarters are of the Hunters are the Hunters themselves. And seeing as you're not one, I don't see that happening." Atem said smiling sadly.
"But I do."
"Do what?"
"Know where they are"
"How?" Yami asked.
"Because I've been there before."
"When?"
"When I was little."
"Why?"
"Um, because it was called something else once. I…I can't tell you what. All you really need to know is that I know where it is."
"Tell us." Atem demanded.
"No."
"Yugi, we've been searching for their Headquarters for decades, and now we find you have the information and won't share? I don't think so. Tell us where they're located."
"No, Atem." His voice had a final and cease to ask about it tone. Though he hadn't been born with a glaring face, he seemed to be acquiring a new look that silenced them from arguing with him. He was growing curious as to what this looked like, as Atem shut his mouth and looked away. He was becoming a very dangerous weapon against them, first with his PDEOD, and now this one too. There'd be no more fighting between them. He'd win every single one with a single look.
Don't get cocky, Yugi. I just didn't argue because I realized there would be no point. Not because you silenced me with a look.
Ha, ha, yeah right, it was totally the look!
Was not!
Was too! 'This is why I'm the Seme, I don't cave easily.'
I don't!
Then what do you call that!?
I…shut up, Yami.
Yugi, he told me to shut up. He's not being very nice.
No, I agree he isn't. How should he be punished?
We could kick him out of the bed tonight.
And put him where?
Uh…
Nah, we'll just deny him cuddling time.
Yeah!
You guys are the real heartless ones.
"Ahem, if you don't mind me interrupting your staring contests. I just got off the phone with the Jimmy, and he says he'll settle the thing in 24 hours or less. Denying you college would be like denying that Einstein was a genius. His words not mine."
"You don't think I'm a genius?" Yugi asked looking over at him.
"No, I think you're an Einstein."
"Hey, since we're here, can we stay for dinner?"
"Oh, I was going to force you to anyway, but I like that you asked better."
"Ha ha, come on, I'll cook."
"No! I want my kitchen to be around for a couple of more years!"
"But I can cook pasta and smoothies now."
"You cook smoothies?"
"Well, make, I can make them now."
"No fire, or explosions?"
"Uh huh." Yugi nodded.
"I'm not willing to take the risk. I'm cooking."
"Grandpa!"
"No, it's my kitchen, and I want it still standing after we're done eating. You just go up to your room and do any homework you might have. Oh, I miss saying that." Grandpa said waving him off before heading into the kitchen. They all started to head up to the Yugi's room.
"Hey! I didn't say all of you could go. I need at least one of you to help me cook."
"Here, take Yami." Atem said pushing the vampire towards him.
"Hey!" Yami protested stumbling towards him.
"Alright, come on you little grandson impregnator, we're cooking salmon tonight."
"What did you just call me? I don't think you're using that word correctly."
"Oh no, I'm using it just fine. Looked it up, as well as a few others I can't wait to tell you two all about, over dinner."
"Yippee for us."
"You're Grandfather isn't going to make this easy for us, is he?" Atem asked after shutting the door and their conversation out.
"Did you really expect him to?"
"No, not really."
"Okay then." Yugi replied sitting at his desk and pulling out his homework which he started to work on.
"Hey, Yugi?" Atem asked after a few minutes.
"Hmm?"
"How come Yami received a cupcake on his birthday and I didn't?"
"Do you want a cupcake, Atem? I can make you one."
"Oh, no, no, no, I was just wondering as to why?"
"You sure? Because it sounds like the vampire wants a cupcake."
"Stop avoiding the question and answer it."
"I don't know. I just got so caught up in all the baby things we had to, and still have to do, that I almost forgot about it to be honest."
"You almost forgot my birthday?"
"Yeah, almost." Yugi said reaching under the desk and pulling out a small box. He handed it to Atem and then went back to doing his homework.
He heard Atem shake the box, before opening it. Atem gasped at the contents, making Yugi smile. Next second he was swept up in a pair of arms, and spun around the room. Yugi caught glimpses of the object on the bed. It was a small bracelet made of thick gold and crimson strings, but it was the words imprinted into the strings that really made it count.
Love is eternal. Nothing can break it, or destroy if it is true from the beginning to end. You are my eternal love, and I will cherish you to the end of my days.
"It's very unique, Yugi, thank you." Atem said kissing his brow.
"Actually, about that unique thing…"
"You made one for Yami too, didn't you?"
"Yeah, are you mad?"
"No, I think it's perfect."
"Really?"
"Yes."
"Phew, I thought for sure you would have been mad that I had had your present duplicated, but with different colors."
"Not at all. Work on your homework, I'm going to see if they need any help."
"Okay."
Yugi sat back down and Atem left. As Yugi worked on a particularly difficult essay, he fingered his collar absent mindedly. As he did so, a faint memory flashed through his mind of Atem sowing something into the collar. Frowning he took it off, and with his heightened sight could now make out small lettering in the top underside of the collar. Squinting slightly, he read them.
This human is property/owned by: the King and Queen of the Vampire race. Dare to touch them if you wish to die at our hands.
Yugi rolled his eyes, wondering what the point was to put it on the underside of the collar. Unless he was wearing it inside out, but he didn't think so. If he had read this any time before he probably would have been upset at being called property, but as it was, he knew it was just a heavy safety measure of protection. He put the collar back on, and promised himself that he would fake being emotionally upset, just to get them riled up. Oh, how he loved riling them up. It was very amusing.
[Time skip]
Yugi skipped up the stairs to their room. Dinner with his Grandpa had been so much fun. He hadn't realized how much he had missed the old man. He tugged his collar from his neck, and sat down on their bed. He'd taken a 30 second head start, so he had that long to think of sad things. First one that came to mind? Losing Sakura as his sister. Yugi was looking down at the collar when they came in, and he sniffed, just for added effect.
"Yugi, what's wrong?" Yami asked immediately at his side.
"It says that I'm your property, that I'm owned by you." Yugi replied holding up the collar to him.
"Uh, yeah, but they all say that."
"You think I'm your property?"
"No! No! It's just something that every collar says. You see, it's because a human's eyesight will never be good enough to read it."
"Mine is."
"Under normal circumstances."
Yugi made the mistake here of looking up at Yami. He looked so flustered, Yugi quickly dived into the pillows to hide his growing smile, and trying to stop the laughter that wanted to spill out. He failed and started to laugh, the pillow muffling the sound.
"Oh, Yugi, don't cry. All the collars say that. All of them. There's nothing we can do about it. It's how they're manufactured and shipped out." Yami cooed rubbing his back. He started to shake with the amount of effort he was putting in not to laugh aloud, and keep it silent.
"Yami, knock it off. He's making a fool out of you." Atem said.
"Oh, don't listen to him, Yugi. I'm here, you don't need Mr. Sourpuss."
"He's laughing, Yami. He took one look at your face and plowed into the pillows so you wouldn't catch him finding this whole thing amusing. You know, I do believe he likes seeing you all riled up, and babying him."
"Oh no, Atem, it's far more fun when you join in too." Yugi said turning to face the man with a huge grin on his face.
"Little imp."
"Yes, but I'm your little imp."
"You were just trying to get me riled up?"
"Yes, it's highly amusing."
"Well, I'd like for you to see your punishment that amusing." Yami proclaimed grabbing Atem and dragging him into the Ruby room. Yugi sat up against the pillows and waited. Yami came back out moments later with Atem shaking his head behind him.
"What's the matter? Wasn't my punishment sleeping alone?"
"Shut up, and scoot over."
"I love you, Yami."
"And there are times when I wonder why I love you back."
"Cause I'm cute."
"Ah, yes, now that I recall, that was the only reason why I loved you in the first place, because you're cute."
"Knock it off you two, and go to sleep." Atem chided.
"Okay." Yugi said snuggling down.
"Yugi?" Atem asked in surprise.
"Hmm?"
"Does this work again?" he asked poking him in a very insistent way.
"Well, I would imagine it would work a whole lot better if you were to stop poking me."
"Right, go to sleep."
[Time skip]
"You're not coming, Atem." Yugi said firmly as he put on his coat.
"You're not going in this alone, Yugi. I told you before, if I don't go than Yami is."
"No, Atem! I'm doing this by myself. I can handle the Organization. I've been around them before. They can be brutal, yes, but I'm sick and tired of them controlling my family from the shadows. It's time for this to end, not just for me, but for everyone who's being manipulated by them."
"Let us come with you." Yami begged.
"No, they'll kill you on sight, regardless of who you are to the vampire community. I can't live without either of you. Please, stay, for me." He pressed his forehead against Yami's.
"And you think we can live without you?" Atem asked.
"I know you can't, but even if they did lay a hand on me, they'd have a couple of rogue Hunters on their hands. You've seen Sakura fight, and Heba sort of, would you want them as your enemies?"
"No."
"Then I make this journey alone." He stated grabbing his wallet, and iPod and making for the door. Atem caught his arm.
"Yugi, promise me something."
"Anything."
"If you need help, you'll call."
"Always." Yugi whispered kissing his cheek, and then he was gone, only a gust of air stood in his place, until that too faded and died.
"So, what do you want to do today?" Yami asked.
"Hold at least one of you." Atem responded.
Yugi smiled from his position on the bottom step. He hadn't gone far really, he had wanted to make sure they really didn't try to follow him. Even though he wasn't a Hunter he had sworn an oath of silence and secrecy. To never tell a single soul living or dead where the Headquarters of the Hunter's Organization was on Japan. Yugi put up a one way barrier around his mind, where he could hear them, but they could not hear him. It had been so long since he had placed one up, it actually felt funny around his mind. Like a long lost friend, or a forgotten enemy. He couldn't quite decide which one. Shaking his head, he headed for his first destination, the train station.
It was going to be a long day he thought, as he boarded the 7:05 am train. He'd be in Hiroshima by 12:23 pm. He really should have brought a snack or something to chew on. Just thinking of being that long on the train without anything to munch on was making him hungry. He should have taken Eliza up on her idea of a snack pack. What had he been thinking when he said no?
He placed his head against the window, thinking he could at least get some sleep in. that would certainly take his mind off his growing hunger. You know, if he wasn't pregnant, it probably wouldn't be bothering him as bad.
"Ticket please."
"Huh? Oh, right." Yugi jolted and looked up at the conductor. He dug around in his pockets until he came up with the small slip of paper, and handed it to her. She punched it and moved on to the next person.
Someone sat down across from him, and Yugi turned towards them. They were decked out in all black, and had several earrings in one ear. Shades covered their eyes, and their hair was bleached blonde, the only identifying attribute to their features, otherwise they were pretty ordinary. He turned his head away again, and looked out at the passing cities and country lands. The train was moving so swiftly it was impossible to distinguish anything, but the blur of the lands that they were passing.
"You smell funny."
"You look funny." Yugi retorted turning to the person across from him.
"Pfft, have you seen your hair style? And you think I look funny?"
"Yep!" he turned back to look out the window.
"Seriously though, you smell…maternal."
Yugi looked at them out of the corner of his eyes, before looking away again. He could easily get up and move, there were plenty of open seats elsewhere, he just didn't want to. He brought his mind barrier crashing down. Rather he talk to his mates, then this odd person across from him.
What odd person?
Across from you where?
"Which is odd, because you usually only find that smell on women. Are you transgender?"
"Now, that's just rude!'
Yugi.
"It was just a question."
"I have always been and will always be a man!"
"You look 17."
"Whatever."
Yugi. What person? Across from where?
He's not going to answer us, obviously, so why are still trying?
To prove that one of us cares for him of course.
I do too care!
Doesn't look that way.
You want me to ask?
Why bother he's not going to answer anyway.
This is really amusing, keep going.
Oh, so you do know how to use the mind link, interesting.
Didn't get his name, and…
Yes?
Across from me on the train.
You're on a train?
Mm-hm.
Why don't you take a nap?
Might miss my stop.
Oh. Is it coming up?
In five hours, yes.
Take a nap, Yugi.
I can just see you rolling your eyes at me.
He did too!
Little, imps.
Only for you, 'Tem.
"So, who's the vampire?" the stranger asked. Yugi's eyes focused on him.
"Vampires. Plural, if you please on that."
"Vampires, okay. Who're they?"
"Who're you?"
"Jason Mrazski. The vampires?"
"Why?"
"I simply want to know who to set you free from, kid."
"You go after my mates, and I will personally rip you to shreds, understand?"
Okay, who's threatening us?
What makes you think anyone is threatening you?
The vibes of calm anger that you're giving off. They're always that way whenever Sakura threatens to split us up. Wait, is Sakura there with you?
No, and would you mind doing a background check on someone named Jason Mrazski?
Sure, when?
Now.
Right, we'll get right on that.
Keep the link open.
You too.
"Okay, why're you territorial? They probably kidnapped you and forced you to be their mate. That's what they teach us in Hunters class. No human would willingly hook up with a vampire. All relationships between the two parties are forced." Jason said pulling him from his thoughts.
"Really? What else do they teach you?" Yugi asked leaning forward.
"All humans must be freed from this slavery, starting with the one that's been captured by the King and Queen of the vampire race. After that, it should be only too simple to free the rest. If we can separate them, we can separate anyone."
Yugi threw his head back and just laughed. That had to be the most ridiculous, not to mention stupidest, thing he had ever heard. They actually though they could split them up? They were still trying? Did they not know he had pushed his sister away to the point of where he didn't even want to see her anymore? How heartless could they be, really? Wait, this was the Organization he was talking about, the answer was simple, very.
"What's so funny?" Jason demanded.
"I'm enjoying every minute of my slavery, and have no desire to be freed from it." Yugi said kicking up his feet and putting his arms behind his head as he leaned back against the window.
"Clearly they've brainwashed you."
"Mmm, with love."
"Vampires don't love. They don't know how."
"Oh, but they do. I've seen it, experienced it, and returned it."
"Impossible!"
"Why, because the Organization told you that?"
"I…" he fell silent.
"Mm-hm, I thought so."
"My family was slaughtered by rogues! You can't possibly understand what that's like!" he blurted out.
"No, but I do know what it's like to be attacked by a serial rogue. Do you know what that is?"
"No." he shook his head.
"I'm not surprised. I mean a rogue is bad enough, but a serial rogue? Oh, they're much worse. They're cunning and clever. They can act like a normal vampire, until they get what they want, and then they change, slowly, into the monster that they really are. And if a Hunter or Werewolf gets too close to their hideout, I guess you could call it, they'll dispose of the human. No evidence, no proof, see? They move from human to human abusing and killing them, until they're stopped, if they're ever stopped. I got lucky, I barely survived."
"Well, good for you, but why didn't you turn into a Hunter? I mean if something like that happened to me it would certainly convince me to join the Organization."
"Because a rogue vampire and a vampire is not the same thing. I'm mated to two vampires. I was seduced by a rogue. A vampire actually cares for the wellbeing of their food source. A rogue could care less if they died the next day from blood loss. A vampire will put the human's needs first, whereas a rogue will only care about their own. I love my vampires, and I still loathe the rogue I met before them."
Okay, Jason Mrazski, is a nobody Hunter that just got out of rookie training, barely.
Thanks, loves.
Loves? That's a new one.
You don't like it?
No, it's fine. It's just new is all.
Oh.
It's fine, Yugi.
So exasperated. I say oh, and you get all exasperated.
"Do you think the Organization lies?" Jason asked in a soft voice.
"All the time, it's just dividing the lies from fact that you have to worry about." Yugi explained gently.
"So why are you going to Hiroshima if it's not to join the Organization?"
"I come bearing ill news. They're done interfering in the lives of others as well as mine."
"How did they interfere in your life?"
"I was denied from every College and University I applied too, and the reason was very peculiar. I wasn't allowed to attend because they were afraid that by my attendance to their schools, that the campuses would become thought of as open feeding grounds. Now isn't that odd? I could see their concern if I was a vampire, but I'm not, I'm all human. And most of the schools I applied to already have vampires attending them, so really what exactly is the problem here?"
"That sounds really similar to the school Act of 1987, banning all vampires from attending any schools that a single human attends. It was abolished about four years ago, but still, the Organization was livid when it happened. I heard that they pulled every Hunters' child from those schools and put them in all human ones. It was a huge affair, and I don't think the Organization has ever recovered from it. If anything they seem to hate vampires even more now."
"There was actually a name for that?" Yugi asked in an incredulous voice.
"Yep, they teach you all about it in Hunter training, and how the world would be better off if they had just kept it."
"I suppose in a way that's true, but at the same time I have some really good memories of my vampire friends and I spending time at school. I wouldn't trade that for a safer environment under any circumstances. Besides, who doesn't love a little danger in their life, yeah?"
"A little maybe, but not a life threatening one."
"But isn't being a Hunter in and of itself life threatening?"
"I guess, but it's worth the risk."
"So is falling in love. It's worth the risk of rejection."
"You really love them, your vampires I mean?"
"With all that I am or possibly will be."
"How?"
"How what?"
"How can you love a vampire?"
"Honestly? You just let yourself fall, and hope that they'll catch you before you hit the ground." Yugi replied with a far off look in his eyes. He smiled slightly, realizing that's when it had happened for him. He had simply been too scared to admit at the time though. When he had taken that leap off of the tower, and they had caught him before he made an impact upon the ground. He'd handed his love over to them then.
You've gotta be kidding me!
And I really should've put up a mind barrier just now.
Oh, Yugi, you drive us crazy.
Is that a good thing?
Sometimes.
Is this one of those times?
No.
How can I make it up to you?
Don't try to seduce us for a week,
I…cannot guarantee that.
Well, that's the only way you can make it up.
I'll try.
Where are you headed?
Heh, nice try, but you don't get to know that.
What do we get to know?
How much I love and miss you right now.
Okay, we'll accept that.
You don't love or miss me too? He sent them a mental puppy eyed pout.
Of course we do, we just don't feel the need to guilt you into admitting it.
That's fine, you can't pout anyway. Yugi started to laugh out loud.
"What's so funny?" Jason asked.
"My Seme Seme."
"Your Seme Seme?"
"Oh, yes, he's the most dominant out of the three of us, so I call him my Seme Seme and my other mate my Seme Uke. Naturally I'm just the Uke, which suits me just fine, because it suits me."
Oh, your new train partner is also a werewolf.
That's why he could smell my maternal scent?
Well, that's what being pregnant smells like. He sounded really uncomfortable.
Ah.
"So, you're a were-" a hand was covering his mouth.
"Shh, the Organization can't find out. I mean, werewolves might not be their biggest enemy, but we're not exactly friends either." Jason said as sweat dripped down his forehead. Yugi nodded in understanding, and then bit Jason's hand. He wasn't fond of it covering his mouth. He pulled it away and shook it slightly, before sitting back in his seat.
"Was your whole family…?" Yugi trailed off his sentence.
"No, just my brother and I. We got it from our Great-Grandfather on my Mother's side apparently. He was one. You look tired by the way."
"I am, but I don't want to fall asleep and miss my stop."
"You won't, I'll wake you."
"No, I don't know you Jason, I can't trust you."
"Reasonable enough."
Yugi shifted slightly to look out the window, the journey being silent between them for the rest of the way. When the train stopped in Hiroshima, Jason suggested they get a cab together since they were headed the same way, but Yugi turned him down. He already had a car waiting, he had called the Organization ahead of time to let them know he was coming by. They had been surprised, and then giddy, thinking this was a happy thing. How they were going to wish they had denied him entry, how they never even answered that phone call.
Yugi watched the familiar scenery pass by. There was the ice cream shop, and there was the store where his Mother used to take them shopping for their school clothes, oh and there was where they went to see movies together, and there was the arcade where he was sure he still had the high score. Some odd kid named Yugioh, top ranking in them all, though no one ever saw who it was or could even remember. They turned on a paved road, and drove for a short while before they paused in front of a pair of iron gates. They opened and they drove inside. Yugi got out of the car, and stepped out facing a large mansion he thought he'd never see again. A place he had lived in up until he was eight years of age. His home, his memory, most of his childhood, his parent's house. One of the three estates that Sakura gave the Organization when she joined.
"Mr. Mutou, what a pleasure it is to have you here, what a pleasure!" the Head of the Organization of Japan said coming out to greet him herself.
Cecelia was a beautiful blonde woman with bright blue eyes. She looked like she was a kind woman at one time, but years of working at the Head of the Organization had turned her cold. The façade she was putting on right now was nothing more than a mask, as she wrapped an arm around his shoulders and led him inside.
"I wish I could say the same, Cecelia." Yugi responded coldly shaking off her arm, and making his way to towards his Father's old study. He already knew that this was the office of the Head. He didn't need any guidance towards it.
"Why whatever is the matter?" she asked sounding confused as she followed Yugi into her office. Yugi plopped down into the chair behind the desk, forcing her to sit in the one in front of it. His intentions were to offend and make her feel uncomfortable. He'd already succeeded with one, and it was time to start on the other.
"Do you know to what colleges and Universities I applied to this year?"
"Of course we found out. We already informed all of them the consequences that could ensue should they accept you on as student."
"And are now facing a lawsuit from not one, but two people. My Grandfather and my mate, Atem."
"I'm sorry to hear that, but might I ask as to why?"
"I was rejected by every one of them."
"Oh my! How could they do such a thing?" Cecelia asked in a fake shocked voice but her eyes betrayed her by showing triumph. Yugi swept his arms across the desk shoving everything onto the floor.
"Oh my! How could I do such a thing?" he mimicked.
"Pick it up." She ordered.
"Cut the games. I'm not one of your mindless hunting drones, and I refuse to be intimidated by you any longer."
"I said pick it up."
"Re-write all the Colleges and Universities and I might think about it. Oh, and while you're at it, you should keep your nose out of others affairs that also have boyfriends that are vampires, or even werewolves for that matter."
"No."
"Fine, than I have no choice but to draw you out in a huge and messy lawsuit, by which the time it's over with I and hundreds of others will have already graduated and be well into our chosen careers." Yugi threatened.
"Oh no, the lawsuit would have to be settled before then." Cecelia said confidently.
"What? And you think the Colleges and Universities are going to have their good names dragged through the mud while that is happening? Don't kid yourself. As soon as this is out in the open, they'll do anything to save face."
"You lie!" she said trembling a little.
"Then why are you shaking? You know it's the truth. So here's how it's going to happen. Either you can appear to still be in control and write them again, or you can appear to have lost all of it when I hit up every paper in Japan with this story…tonight."
"You don't have the nerve to do that, so why am I even worried."
"You should be. I've changed. Just ask your star pupil Sakura."
"I haven't seen her in three months, no one has."
"Really?" Yugi asked surprised. That was news to him
"How exactly have you changed?" Cecelia asked drawing the conversation back onto topic.
"I cut my own sister out of my life because she wouldn't accept my mates as a part of hers. That should be answer enough."
"You love, Sakura, you wouldn't do that to her."
"Yes, I love her, but not the choices she's made as of late. I'm very disappointed in those."
"I still don't believe you have the courage to do it, so I'm not giving in to your demands."
"Very well, then I have no further business here. I'll take my leave. Thank you for seeing me, I hope next time it'll be on better terms." Yugi said getting up and walking towards the door, purposefully walking around her stuff on the ground.
"It will never be on better terms as long as you remain with those blood suckers." Cecelia spat out.
"Then I have no business coming here ever again." Yugi sad sadly with his hand on the door. He sighed and then left. He went down the hallway an opened the room at the very end. It was dusty, and cobwebs were everywhere, but it was exactly as he had left it. His room.
Yugi smiled as he fingered his Dark magician plushy that was sitting on his bed. He blew dust off of picture of him and Sakura. She had her hair in pigtails, and was standing on top of their jungle gym. Yugi was staring up at her in fearful wonder. She had been nine and he two. She had been his model, his person that he had been aspiring to be. It was amazing how things could change over time. Yugi plucked what had been his favorite book, when he was little, off of the shelf. He remembered asking his Mother to read it to him every night, and she'd always smile saying tonight, but tomorrow I'm going to read you something new. He decided to take it with him, as well as a picture of all four of them. He also plucked a small snow globe off of the dresser. It was a simple thing, just a snow man with a red scarf around its neck, but it meant the world to Yugi. It represented that time that they went to America and got lost in a snow storm. They ended up renting a room in this small shabby hotel in the middle of nowhere, and got stuck there for three days. When the roads were finally cleared, they stopped at a small café with a gift shop and Yugi had seen this, and on a whim bought it. It reminded him of the adventure where they had nothing but time for each other for three whole days.
Yugi wiped a tear from his eye and left the room. As happy as seeing it made him felt, it also made him sad. He closed the door and left the House of the Organization as it was called these days. He walked back down the drive and out towards the nearest Newspaper place. He walked in and told them he had a juicy bit of information for whoever would listen, and share it with other Newspaper places all over Japan, especially large cities. They showed him to someone named Billy Kavolskis.
"Well, boy, what is it?" he asked before Yugi could even sit down.
"How would you respond if I told you that the Head of the Hunters' Organization was sending letters to Colleges and Universities to discourage them from accepting any new students that had boyfriends/girlfriends that are vampires and werewolves?"
"I think my computer would explode from the excitement of such a raw piece of information."
"Then why aren't you already typing it?" Yugi asked.

Yugi was thrilled to see the article not only in his Domino Newspaper the next day, but to see it plastered all over the news. When Billy Kavolskis said he'd tell everyone he knew, he hadn't, apparently, been joking about that. The facts were kept the same though, so it hadn't been turned into a game of telephone, which Yugi was grateful for. That same day, he got a call from every College and University that had rejected him saying there had been a mistake and he'd actually been accepted. He told almost every one he'd make a decision by the end of the month, and let them know then. He told Tokyo University he accepted their invitation. Atem said he should have made them wait too. Yugi just shook his head at him and hung up. He got into his top choice pick, he wasn't going to wait to let them know. He wanted a spot on their campus now, a seat to sit in, a place to be.
Now he had it, and the Organization knew he meant business. That he had changed, and there was no stopping the snowball now. It had become an avalanche on their doorstep. He flipped to a foreign station to see their newscaster was doing an investigation of their own, in their own country, to see if this scandal was happening there too.
Yugi couldn't have felt prouder of himself as he went to sleep that night. He'd accomplished more than his goal, he'd started the biggest debate in his life, and he didn't even have to take a part of it, because he never gave Billy his name. He'd glided right over that part and out the door.

Yugi checked again in the mirror, but there was no getting around it. It was real, it was there, he could see it. And if he could see it, then that meant other people would too. It was the last week of March and it was here, his belly bump.
"Yugi, we need to start moving if we're going to be there on time." Atem said rapping on the bathroom door.
"Uh, I'm not feeling well." Yugi said back.
"No, Yugi, now come on. The ladies put this together themselves, you don't want to disappoint them do you?"
"Yes. Right now, that is the only thing I want to do."
"Okay, what's going on?" Yami asked coming into the bathroom. Yugi yanked his shirt back down quickly.
"Nothing."
"Then let's go."
"I don't want to."
"Yugi, come on, talk to us, what's wrong?" Atem asked squatting down so he was above him.
"And why are you holding your shirt like that?" Yami asked.
"No reason, come on, we don't want to be late for the first of many baby showers now do we?" Yugi asked releasing his shirt and grabbing their hands, pulling them along.
A hand brushed over his belly, and he froze. The hand placed itself there more firmly, and moved up and down. Yugi started to shake, and someone sighed, using the leverage the already had to spin them into their chest.
"You're showing, aren't you?" Atem asked.
"I really can't deny it now."
"Yugi, it's going to be alright. We're going to be here for you every step of the way."
"I know, but what if I make a bad parent? A bad Mother?"
"I don't believe there is such a thing, if you really try."
"Besides, who's to say we won't be bad Fathers?" Yami asked trying to cheer him up
"Maybe we should all take a parenting class?" Yugi suggested.
"What? But the kid isn't even here yet!"
"Kidssss. I'm having twins, remember?"
"Of course we do." Atem said smiling.
"How could we forget? You remind us at every available opportunity." Yami grumbled.
"There you are Prince!" A woman said coming around the bend. Two more quickly joined her, they squealed and ran forward.
"Come, come! We can't have a baby shower without the guest of honor!" they said grabbing his hands and dragging him off. He wasn't even at the shower yet, and he was already scared.
[Time skip]
"I don't care, Malik, I'm not going! I've had enough of baby showers."
"Yes, but ours won't be run by 20-30 women. It will be run by us Ukes, big difference there." Malik assured over the phone.
"There were 45."
"Oh you poor thing, so what did they get you?"
"Mostly clothes for the infants, but one did get me a stroller fit for twins. That was pretty cool."
"Anything else?"
"Uh yeah, these strange after pregnancy suckers. They're supposed to help with sickness or something of the like."
"Huh, that's interesting. What kind of games did you play?"
"Well, there was this one where you had to put a diaper on a baby, but you couldn't use your hands. And another where you had to guess what baby food was in certain baby food jars. You could smell them, but you couldn't eat them."
"Did you win?"
"Uh, hello, King of Games here."
"A simple yes, would have sufficed."
"Yugi! Where'd you go?" a female voice sounded close by.
"Oh, shh, shh, shh, I hear one of them."
"Are you hiding?"
"Yes, they scare me."
"You won't hide on us, will you?"
"Only if you try to dress me up in clothes from the maternity section."
"Oh, I wish I was there. That sounds hilarious."
"Yeah, yeah, laugh it up."
"I hear voices." The woman was right outside his hiding spot. He was so screwed.
"Hey! Clarity! They found him down there!" Yami shouted a little ways away.
"Oh, goody! We can put him in some more clothes that'll look smashing with his growing belly." Clarity squealed before running off. Yugi sighed out in relief, before the cabinet door was yanked open a second later. Yami looked down at him laughing.
"Come on, we won't dress you up like a little doll." Yami said reaching in and scooping him out.
"My hero."
"Uh, Yugi, since you've obviously been rescued, I'm gonna hang up now."
"Okay, bye Malik, I'll see you on Monday."
"Yep, see ya!"
Click.
"Atem got one of the cuter servants to dress up like you, but it'll only take a second for them to realize they've been tricked. So, we decided to stay out of the Palace for the weekend." Yami explained making a break for the exit.
"And sleep where?"
"In a hotel."
"Really? Which one?"
"Well…"
[Short time skip]
"But we have to. I mean, we're here, where it all started to begin with." Yugi said pulling Atem down onto a King sized black bed.
"No. No sex."
"Please?"
"No, Yugi." Atem said kissing his forehead and climbing off of him.
"Fine, but could you at least feed me? I'm hungry."
"That we can do. Come on Yami, let's go make a meal."
While they were gone, Yugi prepared the stage. He put on one of the outfits that one of the ladies gave him, and lit a few candles that he found in the bedside tables. He turned off the lights, laid out on the bed, and waited. Yami came back first, and he quickly became a bug in his spider web.
"Okay, Dear, I have your…ATEM!"
"What? What's wrong?" he asked charging into the room. He froze at the sight of Yugi.
"Still think it's a bad idea?" Yugi asked dragging a hand up his side.
"Okay, here's your food. Yami, come on, you're sleeping alone tonight, Yugi." He took the tray from Yami, put it on the bed and slowly backed out of the room taking Yami with him. Yugi rolled his eyes, crawling towards them, following them. The door shut, and locked.
"Uh! You're going to pay for this!" Yugi said pounding on the door.
Oh, we already are, trust me, we are.
Yugi huffed, and sat back down on the bed and ate his meal. He contemplated all the ways to punish them, very loudly through the link. He wasn't going to use any of these of course, but he did like hearing them ramble. No, he had a much much better idea of a form of punishment for denying him of all people sex. He set his empty tray on the ground, blew out the candles and lay down for the night. Oh yes, they were so going to pay.
See? Really long, but I congratulate all of you for arriving at the bottom of the page. To be fair I did warn you guys the chapters would be longer, and as you can see I wasn't joking about that. Oh shoot, I have to get up early tomorrow and it's already going on 11 here. Thank you to everyone who are/have following/favorited this story. Also, thanks to everyone who reviewed User and Guest alike. Questions? Ah yes. Guest 4, yes water normally does have a bad effect on Yugi, when it has the drug in it. This jug of water did not, nor did he eat any of the drug before he left, so it was perfectly safe ordinary regular water. No bad consequences there. I hope this clears up your confusion. Also, while I appreciate the names for the kids, I don't need any help in that department, I already have them all planned out. And lastly, I worked out the title, with the help of my friends, so we're good there too. Please review. Midnight ;p
