Desperation

Layla didn't look at the others. Her entire body trembled as she clenched her teeth together. Her eyes were hidden behind the shadows of her hair. "I didn't have any choice."

Natsu held his wound and looked at Layla. "I don't understand. What did you do to her?"

Bolt looked over at his twin. "Sis?"

The voice of Layla quivered. "I made her fall."

Everyone focused on Layla. Natsu leaned forward. "What does that mean?" Natsu shouted.

Beads of sweat rolled down the side of Layla's face. "I couldn't say it before, but I read up on Angel Embodyment magic. If the person who uses it isn't pure of heart has to drink the blood of her pure hearted enemies, but if she can't and she is attacked by enough heavenly magic it makes the person fall."

"What exactly does fall mean?" Gray questioned.

"It covers the user in blackness and destroys them," Layla answered.

Everyone went wide eye at the girl's words. "What!? You had them murder someone?" Natsu shouted.

"Layla," Lucy spoke breathlessly.

"Would you shut up?" Bolt said to Natsu.

Natus glared over at Bolt. He clenched his teeth as he shook with rage. "You're going to just defend what she made Erza and the others do."

"It was the only opition."

"Says who? We could have beaten her without going that far," Natsu yelled back.

"Were we in the same fight?" Bolt questioned. "She was cutting us all down. If we didn't follow Layla's plan we would be the ones that are dead."

"You're wrong! Don't underestimate Fairy Tail. Natsu balled up his fists.

"Who do you think you're talking to?" Bolt slammed his fist on his own chest. "I'm a member of Fairy Tail in case you small mind forgot. My sister and I are the double gunalets of Fairy Tail."

"So what?"

"So this-" Bolt stuck out his hand about to release a burst of lightning.

"Stop it!"

Everyone turned theit attention over to Lucy. Lucy panted heavily with her hand over her wound. She had one eye closed as sweat rolled down her face. Loke stood in front of Lucy with his hands out toward her. "Lucy, you shouldn't overextert yourself right now."

Erza stood forth. "Natsu, Bolt, settle your differences later. We need to keep Lucy calm and heal her injuries."

Natsu looked away annoyed.

Bolt looked over at his mother. "Erza's right. We need to get mom some place safe and make sure she's alright."

Lucy continued to breathe heavily. "I'm fine." Lucy shut her eyes as she fell forward. A strong arm reached out in front of her, catvhing her before she could hit the ground. Lucy opened her eyes and looked over to see… "Laxus."

"Don't go pushing yourself on our account, Blondie." Without another word and as quick as lightning Laxus swooped Lucy up into his arms in bridal style. Laxus looked over at the others. "We're moving out."

Lucy blushed greatly. "Laxus."

Laxus simply started walking not allowing his own injuries to bother him. The others followed suit.

Juvia finished wrapping up Gray wound. The water wizard blushed greatly as she looked at her love. "There that should do it."

Gray smiled lightly at her. "Thanks Juvia."

"Oh, of course."

The others finished patching each other up. Bolt then went over to his sister and flopped across her in a chair with his arms crossed. His eyes vwere narrowed in annoyance. "You shouldn't feel bad you know."

Layla kept her head down. The shadows of her hair hid her eyes from anyone's sight. Her fist laid on top of her legs. "Bolt, please just leave me alone."

"I'm not going anywhere," said. He looked over to the side. "I'm not going to let you go feel sorry for yourself because you did what needed to be done. I don't care what that idiot says you saved all our lives."

Natsu's ear twitched, hearing what Bolt had to say. He grind his teeth together, getting up. He was ready to beat the living daylights out of the boy when Erza grabbed his shoulder. He turned his attention over to the red hair armor wizard. Erza shook her head and Natsu relaxed.

Layla's body trembled even latched onto her brother's shirt and buried her head into his chest. Tears ran down her eyes as she let out a painful cry. "I didn't know what else to do, but…but what does that say about what kind of person I am."

Bolt dropped his hands from his chest before he wrapped them around the fragile frame that was his sister. He lowered his head down upon hers, shutting his eyes. Bolt lightly smiled. "You're the kind of person that will do anything for her friends, even stain her own hands."

Everyone in the room looked at Lucy and Laxus' daughter with sympthay.

Elsewhere in the main bedroom of the mansion, Lucy and Laxus sat on the large pink bed. Lucy stared at the door to the dark room. "What do you think they're doing down there? They're way too quiet."

Laxus rested his hand on Lucy's shoulder, getting her attention. "Don't worry about that right now. You need to lay down and get some rest. If those idiots start acting up I'll put them down."

Lucy looked up at her boyfriend with sweetness in her eyes. She giggled at the thought of Laxus beating up Natsu and Gray for starting something or even Bolt for wanting to take on Natsu again. Then she thought about Layla. Her daughter had…she remember had sad she had seen her future daughter that was growing in her stomach this very moment.

Lucy gazed down at that. Her big brown eyes trembled at the thought. "Do you think that Layla will be alright?"

Laxus adjusted himself on the bed and placed his own forehead over Lucy's. He smiled gently. "I'll make sure she is. Get some rest, Lucy."

Lucy raised her hand to Laxus' cheek and cupped it. "Alright, baby daddy." Before Laxus could respond, Lucy lifted her lips up to his. They shared a tender kiss for a moment… in the darkness. A small spark of elecrtity came off the kiss.

Laxus smiled down at Lucy. "Now get some rest."

"OK."

Laxus shut the door to the master bedroom. He folded his arms across his face and headed down the steps. He quickly spotted Juiva latching onto Gray as he tried to pull away. Bickslow was busy teasing Ever about Elfman while Freed tried to maintain order. Natsu and Happy were busy chowing down while Erza watched over everyone.

The lightning dragon slayer made his way over to the armor wizard. "So where are my kids?" He shifted his eyes over to the red haired.

"They went to the guest room," Erza answered.

Laxus headed to the guest room without acknowledging anyone else. He opened the door to the guest room to see Layla resting in one of the many beds in the room. The sight of her in the small ray of light that entered the room reminded him of Lucy.

"She cried herself to sleep," Bolt stated.

Laxus shifted his eyes over to the side to spot his future son leaning against the wall. Zhe then focused back on his daughter. "I was just coming to talk to her."

"How's mom doing?"
"Asleep too."

"We need to end this. The longer this drags out-"

"Yeah.
