~Amber
Roman and Micah were sitting on the couch in his living room watching a movie. The last few months had been amazing and he was falling more and more for her each day. He turned to look down at her and was taken aback by how beautiful she was right now. Her hair was up in a messy bun, no makeup, dressed in a tank top with a pair of sweatpants and he still thought she was stunning. He let his mind wonder back to the night he made her dinner and asked her to be his girlfriend.
"I'm way too excited about you cooking for me, you know that?"
"I'm sure you are."
"Hey don't be a sore loser."
He pressed a soft chaste on Micah's forehead, "I'm not. I'm actually excited to cook for you."
"If it's as good as I think it will be I may ask you to cook more often."
"We'll see about that." He put his hands on her hips and lifted her up and sat her on the counter. He held her gaze for a moment before kissing her lips softly and getting lost in the taste of her. Micah's legs were spread enough that Roman could stand in between them while he moved his lips to her neck. She had a firm grip on his biceps because he was honestly making her lose her mind at the moment. Roman chuckled at the audible groan that escaped her when he removed his lips from her neck.
"Sit there and look pretty while I cook. You think you can do that?" he asked before placing another quick kiss on her lips.
"I think that's doable,"
He sent her a small wink before going to get what he needed to make them dinner.
After a few failed attempts of getting Roman to let Micah help with the cooking, he finally got everything in the oven and guided her to the couch. He had a two bowls of
Oka I'a salad, which was a Samoan dish, in his hands and gave one to her. Micah listened intently when he told her about what he made, loving that he was so proud of his culture. The television just seemed to be background noise as they ate and talked. He took their bowls and placed them in the sink before returning to the couch and lifting Micah and placing her in his lap; wanting to keep her as close as possible.
They cuddled on his couch again after they finished dinner.
"Roman that was amazing. Thank you."
"No need to thank me, doll. You won the bet," he said before he rolled his eyes at the smirk that was on her face.
"I love a man that can cook," she stated while she placed her head on his chest.
"Do you now? Well, don't worry, there's more where that came from for you."
"I'm glad."
Micah noticed that Roman was starting to stare off and he looked like there was something on his mind.
"Is something wrong?"
Her question snapped him back into the present and he locked eyes with the beautiful woman next to him. "Nothing's wrong. I'm just thinking about something."
"Well what is it?"
He took a deep breathe before speaking. "I want you to be my girlfriend. I know it's fast but I know I want to be with you. Also, the thought of anyone that's not me dating you upsets me."
Micah couldn't help but smile at him. She didn't think she would find anyone after Scott because of all of the issues that came with it. But there was something about this man and she wasn't going to let her insecurities ruin this for her. "I'd like that a lot."
Roman couldn't fight his smile either. "I say we seal it with a kiss," he said as he moved his lips right above hers.
She only nodded before she found herself getting lost in his kiss. She felt his tongue slide against her bottom lip seeking entrance into her mouth, which she quickly gave him. They both battled for dominance but she was no match for him. Micah had never experienced the type of kisses she did with Roman. He awoke things in her that she didn't even know existed. She was absolutely breathless when he finally broke the kiss.
"I don't think I can explain how happy you've made me, Roman."
"What are you thinking about over there?" Micah asked, breaking him out of his reverie.
"The night you became my girlfriend."
"That was a good night. Can't believe it's been 4 ½ months already."
"It's definitely flown by."
"It's only going to get better." He debated with himself for a moment if he should ask her about what was on his mind. As much progress as Micah has made in the past few months, there was still some things that she hadn't dealt with. Things that she used to love that she still hadn't started doing again.
"I see those wheels turning, sir"
He smirked at her and placed a kiss on her forehead. "Can I ask you something?"
"Anything babe."
"Why haven't you started dancing again? I know you still love it and I just don't know why you won't do it."
She had no idea what brought this up. Honestly, she didn't think he cared. Scott thought it was the worst and always told her it was a useless talent. With Roman, she wasn't ready to share that with him only in fear of what he would think. Would he think it's worthless too? Would he even give a shit? She knew he'd support her but something in her still thought the worst.
She let her brown eyes lock with his grey ones for a moment before she spoke. "I didn't really give it up. Actually, I've started again and have been doing it for a little over a month."
"Why didn't you tell me, Micah?" He had no idea why she would keep this from him. He always wanted her to be happy and do the things that he knew made her the happiest; that was a big one.
"I don't know. I just...I didn't think you would care I guess."
"Of course I would care, Micah!" he exclaimed.
"I don't understand why it's such a big deal, Roman. I'm sorry."
"Is there anything else you're hiding from me?"
"Why are you acting this way? Honestly, I'm just getting back into doing something I loved and I'm scared."
"Why? Why are you scared to let me know you're doing something you love? I just want to support you, babe."
"Because the last time I let someone I love in on something I loved he made me feel worthless about it, okay?"
"I'm not Scott! I'm not him, dammit!"
Micah was shocked that he was yelling at her. They'd had a few arguments but he'd never yelled at her like he just did. She closed her eyes trying to fight off the tears that were coming but she lost that battle.
"I'm tired of you being so insecure, Micah. I'm also tired of you let what Scott did affect our relationship. I'm so very tired, Micah."
Micah cried more as she heard Roman voice his frustrations with her. She knew he was right but what Scott did was going to take a while to get over and as much as she wanted to, she couldn't just flip a switch and make things better,
"I'm sorry, Roman."
Everything was beginning to become too much for her at the moment. Roman's frustrations with her, her insecurity that she was tired of dealing with but couldn't seem to get rid of and the thought that Roman possibly didn't want her anymore; she couldn't be there right now. Before he could even respond she was hopping off his couch and running out of the door.
"Fuck!" he growled. He knew immediately he shouldn't have yelled at her but he was just so frustrated. It wasn't even about the dancing so much as it was about her still being scared of being herself around him. He knew her insecurities weren't going to go away over night but as much as he loved Micah, he was incredibly tired. But what was more frustrating to him at the moment was the woman of his dreams just ran out the door.
"So, you yelled at her and you're shocked she walked out on you? Dude I thought you were smarter than that."
Roman glared at Dean who was too wrapped up in the beer Nicole had given him to realize it.
"In all seriousness, have you tried to talk to her, Roman?"
"I've tried Nicole and she won't return my calls. I was just so tired and it's more than the dancing, it's the fact that she does not trust me. We've been together for a while now and I just want to love her but she won't let me and I just got frustrated with her."
"I get that Roman but she's not gonna get over 2 years of bullshit in a few months. Micah's come a long way, thankfully, but she's still not there Roman and you've got to understand that."
"I know. I know. I feel like shit—"
"You should," Dean quickly injected, earning a slap on the arm from his girlfriend.
"Like I was saying, I feel like shit. I want to talk to her but I can tell she needs time."
"She does. I've talked to her a bit. She knows she's got to trust you but she's also hurt by how you reacted."
Dean patted his roommate on the back, "it's gonna be alright. I promise."
Roman rubbed his hand over his face and sighed. "I hope you're right dude."
A/N: Oh no, looks like those insecurities are causing problems with Roman
