"Jasper's right don't fire until you're sure it's attack, repeat, do not fire until you are sure." Bellamy finished saying as he turned and looked at each of us before peering through his scope again.
"Ray, when it gets too hot I want you to hide in the tunnels wait for dawn and run for the clan your grounder friend mentioned… got it?" He asked me.
I nodded my head, "Stay with you till the very end… got it." I mused as he turned slightly to look at me.
"You're not going to go regardless are you?" He asked.
"Nope." I said popping the 'p' before continuing to look down my own scope readying my gun for any attacking grounders.
I had to admit knowing we were about to kill people even if it was to keep myself alive felt so wrong. I felt like there was so much more we could have maybe tried to do to obtain peace, however not at the cost of Clarke's life. Which is what they had seemed to be gunning for.
I still didn't understand why they had taken Clarke and Finn hostage. Why they where killing us all off, why they where trying so hard to do so was beyond me. Like Clarke even said on the bridge… we never meant to harm anyone. Either way this night was just about to begin and I wasn't sure I was ready to die.
"Repeat, do not fire until you are sure." Bellamy said into the radio again pulling me back into reality.
"West foxhole pulling back." Someone else said through the radio.
"Sure we're all ready for this?" I asked him.
"Sure as hell better be ready." Miller rushed out a response.
"He's right." Bellamy told me turning to face me slightly. "Get ready Ray." Bellamy told me softly.
I peered down the sight of the gun looking along the tree line, trying to squint just to make sure what I was looking at was foliage not grounders. When I noticed something move between the trees. Moving the gun away from my face to see if I actually saw something move or not.
Pressing the cold gun back to my cheek I looked down the scope once again only to see that there was in fact movement going on back there. I began to faintly make out the outlines of very large bodies as they began to slowly stalk out of the woods coming towards us all.
A gunshot soon went off, "They're everywhere! Fall back! Fall back!" Someone yelled through the radio.
"Bell…" I began to whisper softly to him as I could tell Monroe was starting to get antsy.
That was around the time all the grounders began to charge in our direction, hurdling towards us shouting battle cries. Knowing they where about to kill every last one of us. Without even so much as trying to. "Here they come!" Miller yelled.
I looked over at Bellamy for a split second and watched him as he began to shoot at the grounders killing every single one he shot at. I turned my attention back towards the oncoming threat shooting off rounds into the large mass of grounders that where charging towards us.
I knew I had killed at least one grounder, I had to have hit at least one of those crazies. Monroe dropped her empty gun and took off running back towards the tunnel to get into the camp for safety. "Bellamy?" I shouted to him.
"The grounders! Get back here!" Miller yelled after her.
A grounder ran towards Miller about to slice off his head when Bellamy stood up and shot him square in the chest. I went to stand up when Bellamy pushed me back down to the ground as another grounder jumped right in front of Bellamy.
"Bellamy!" Miller and I cried out in unison.
The two boys began to fight the grounders that had invaded our foxhole. I wanted so badly to stand up and help the two of them but I knew Bellamy shoved me down for a reason. I checked my gun to see how much ammo I had left only to realize my clip was empty.
I couldn't help Bellamy even if I wanted to right now, I looked around the ground to see if the grounders that where attacking us had dropped their swards or daggers, Anything to cut down the grounders attacking Miller and Bellamy. I was startled by the sound and sight of Bellamy falling onto his back with the grounders hands around his neck.
I noticed something coming quickly from behind Bellamy and the grounder to see Octavia emerge from the shadows only to stab the grounder through the back of its head till he feel to the ground releasing Bellamy from his grasp.
"Octavia!" I shouted as she moved to help me off the ground.
"Should have given her one of these." She told Bellamy with a smirk as showed the blade in the moonlight to her brother. Who was now getting off the ground himself.
"Admit it. You want one." She said looking down at him still as he smirked shaking his head at her.
Octavia began to wobble towards the ground when we realized the grounders where now firing arrows at us. "She's hit." I told Bellamy as he moved quickly pulling her away from the open area where the arrows where whizzing by us.
"Your hit." I said to her as Bellamy motioned for Miller's attention. "Miller, fall back now!" He yelled at him.
"Can you walk?" Bellamy asked her as I put her other arm around my neck holding her upright with him.
"Bellamy, she shouldn't be putting any strain on her legs." I told him as he turned to me quickly.
"Are you sure she can walk even with out help?" He asked me.
"No… we have to get her out of here and way away from this battle… she'll make to much noise if we move her too much, and the arrow is still in her leg… I need light to get it out gently." I told him as he nodded.
"Shit." He said as he nodded to me motioning for me to let her go as he lifted her into his arms. "Let me get you behind that wall." Bellamy told her as she continued to pant in pain.
"We're out of ammo." Bellamy said into the radio to alert people that our wall was about to be breached.
"Requesting back up now!" He said again.
"Bellamy, this spot has fallen we have to get back to the camp… we have to defend the wall Raven, Clarke… they're running out of time." I told him.
"She's right Bells, don't worry about this spot we have to go." Octavia agreed with me.
The radio began to go insane with chatter of every other foxhole talking about lack of ammo, being over run, casualties. Bellamy soon looked between Octavia and I before taking in a deep breath. "Stand your ground, if they take the gate we're all dead." He said into the radio.
"We first get Octavia to the drop ship. Than we came back with more people and defend this post." He told me.
"Babe this post is lost, they know we have no ammo. They will know we left, they'll have squatters wait for us to get back and just kill us…if we leave we don't come back here… Bellamy this position is lost." I told him as he took in another deep breath.
"I don't see anyone." A voice came through the radio as the two of us with Octavia in Bellamy's arms began to move back through the woods towards the camp.
"They've broken through!" Another voice yelled causing both Bellamy and I to stop in our tracks. "There are hundreds of them!"
"We can't go back Bells, camp is the safest place for her right now." I told him.
"When we get back both of you get into the drop ship understand me?" He said facing me her tightening her grip around his neck.
"Bellamy… to the end… we already decided this… I'm not staying on this planet without you." I told him as Octavia looked towards me, "You two did not make a death pact." She said with disbelief.
"O' now isn't the time." He told her.
"No… I'm not losing either of you no… we should head to Lincoln's cave it'll be safe there for us till this is all over."
"They're heading for the gate!" Sterling yelled. "Game over, man!"
I looked at Octavia who was most defiantly thinking the same thing I was thinking, as horrible as the situation was the guy was being a tad bit over dramatic. There was still a way we could come out of this on top, that we could drive the grounders away. That all however depended on Raven and the rockets.
A massive explosion was heard in the distance causing all three of us to look up and around for wherever the fire could be from the bomb. We then realized the sound came from the sky. I looked up moving my hand from Bellamy's back to my side as I watched the massive ball of fire begin to hurl towards the ground.
"What is that?" Octavia asked us both, "Did something fall off the Ark?"
I shook my head, "No; that is the Ark."
"Hear that?" Bellamy suddenly said causing both Octavia and I to look away from the sky and silenced us to listen to what he was talking about.
It sounded almost like howling and shouting, not like the grounders almost animal like. I couldn't describe the chirps and cheers. No, I could I knew exactly what it was I had heard the same sounds the day before. "Reapers." I said softly as Bellamy looked over at me with discomfort.
We finally got closer to the camp to see an all out battle to the death between the reapers and the grounders going on in front of us. Bellamy stopped keeping us out of sight as he moved behind a tree and setting Octavia down. Before turning his attention back to the battle going on not even a few steps away from us.
"What is that?" Octavia asked him.
"I don't know, but they're distracted." He told her.
"It's the Reapers, they're fighting the grounders… but how they knew where the grounders where, how they found them…" I began to trail off in thought.
"We need to move." Bellamy said as he looked at his sister, "We'll never make it." She said softly and out of breath.
"Leave me. I'll find another way." She said causing both Bellamy and I to look at her intently.
"Don't be insane." I told her harshly trying to cover up the amount of anger her even suggesting us to leave her had begun to fill me with.
Bellamy placed his hand on my thigh before looking up at me motioning for me to kneel down with him. "We're not going anywhere without you." He told her as Octavia looked to me, smiling at her I nodded in agreement.
"Octavia." Lincoln's voice came from behind her as all three of our heads shot in his direction.
"Lincoln?" She said her voice filling with the same amount of shock and surprise that my entire body was filled with. I had thought the Reaper's got to him, killed him.
The two of them embraced holding each other tightly as I could hear her lightly sobbing into his shoulder. I looked over at Bellamy, the look on his face told me exactly what was going through his mind. I leaned in closer to him kissing his lips softly before moving away. "You're making the right choice Bell." I told him as he nodded to me.
"You did this?" Bellamy asked him before I could. Referring to the miniature distraction battle going on not but a few feet from us.
"With Finn." Lincoln answered quietly. "It's deep." Lincoln told us as he examined Octavia's wound in her leg.
"I can help you, but you have to come with me now." He told us all as I looked towards Bellamy knowing full well he did not want to go anywhere with Lincoln, he wanted to go back to the camp and protect the walls with the rest of our people.
I knew him; he didn't even want Octavia going but he knew. Just like I knew the safest place for Octavia to be was with Lincoln and as far away from this camp as humanly possible. I took another look over at Bellamy as I felt him wrap an arm around me.
"Go." Bellamy said nodding to him, "Let him help you." Bellamy told Octavia as the colour began to drain from her face. I assume from the though of Bellamy actually being ok with her leaving his protection for once.
"No way. I have to see this through." She pleaded with him.
"You can't walk and we can't get you back to the drop ship." He told her as his voice began to break, I took his arm from over my shoulder and held his hand in mine down between us.
"He's right." Lincoln added. "This fight is over for you."
"O, O, listen to me." Bellamy said to her catching her attention once again.
"I told you my life ended the day you were born. The truth it… it didn't start until then." He told her causing my heart to beat rapidly, since everything had begun to go down hill, seeing Bellamy so raw and so sincere gave me chills. "Go with him. I need you to live."
The bond they had regardless if they wanted to admit they had one or not was one of the most beautiful family bonds I had ever seen. It was the relationship I lost with Clarke over jealousy; I regretted every horrible thing I ever said to her every time they would leave my lips.
"Besides… I got this, Ray and I we can do this." He said pulling me closer.
"O' I promise I will keep him as safe as I can and when this fight is over we will come looking for you…" I told her as she smiled at me before the two of them pulled each other into a tight hug.
I moved away a little looking over at Lincoln, "Keep her safe Lincoln… please… at any cost." I pleaded with him as he nodded to me smiling faintly.
"I love you, big brother." She said to him, "I love you too Ray… keep each other safe please." She begged.
"May we meet again." He told her.
"May we meet again." She repeated to him.
Lincoln picked Octavia up with the help of Bellamy holding her tightly in his arms as the two of them looked towards the two of us. Bellamy's arm wrapped around my body my head on his shoulder as we watched the two of them, "Keep her safe." Bellamy told him as the two of them quickly vanished into the shadow of the forest.
I moved away from Bellamy slightly looking up at him, "We should have gone with them…" I whispered.
"Probably." He told me kissing my forehead before taking my hand in his and turning around to head back towards one of the tunnels to get into the camp.
"Use the grenades!" I heard someone shout as Bellamy looked back at me pulling me close to him incase the grenade landed close to us that the impact wouldn't throw us away from each other.
"They breached the gate." I told him when I heard how far the blasts seemed to be going off. "We have to hurry." He told me.
Finally we entered the camp through one of the tunnels looking around at the madness that was now going on in the camp. "There they are!" I heard Finn's voice yell overtop of the chaos.
"They waited for us?" He asked me.
"Of course they did, it's Clarke and Finn."
"Guys run!" Clarke yelled to us causing Bellamy to grab hold of me pulling me closer to him so that I would be moving at his speed not my slower than snails speed.
"Ray stay here." He said as he picked up a gun and began to move towards a grounder. Not just any grounder. Tristan. I recognized him right away from what I remembered of him. He was supposed to be the man that was to take me back to their leader. He was exactly the way he was described to me… he was dangerous.
"Bellamy no!" I shouted to him as the grounder began to attack him. Punching Bellamy in the face pushing him to the ground, "Bellamy!" I screamed as I felt the tears rush down my face.
"Stop! Finn! No!" I heard Clarke doing the same thing I was. Begging for the life of the man I loved. I picked up a gun that was close by and ran towards Bellamy and the grounder just like Finn was.
Finn pushed Tristan to the ground right as I got to Bellamy's side, "Babe get up, please get up." I begged him.
"Get into the drop ship Ray." He told me.
"No. Till the end." I reminded him, "Don't be stupid Ray… this is the end."
"No… it's not… not for us now get up!" I yelled at him as Finn began to fight the grounder next to us Bellamy stood up and charged at Tristan as well, beating him while he was on the ground.
Tristan stood up grabbing Finn tossing him to the side like he was a piece of trash before his eyes landed on me. "You. You're the one the Commander wants. You're coming with me." He growled at me.
I held the gun up and pointed it at him, "Like hell I am." I told him as I shot him point blank in the chest. Once he'd fallen to the ground I looked over at Bellamy and Finn as all the grounders began to rush the drop ship, in an attempt to climb it.
"We have to go now." Bellamy told the two of us as we both nodded rushing towards him as he lead us into one of the near by tunnel routes.
"We're going to have to make a run for it, those rockets go off there's no knowing if the fire will blast through these tunnels." I told him as he nodded to me.
"Worth a shot." Finn told the two of us as we rushed into the tunnels not stopping till everything went black.
Kane's Point of View
"This is Earth monitoring station, Earth monitoring station hailing all Ark survivors. Please come in."
"Earth monitoring station, Earth monitoring station haling all Ark survivors. Please come in."
"Hello? Is someone there? Keep talking so I can lock you in." Jaha's voice kept saying into my ear.
"Mecha station is on the ground, repeat. Mecha station is on the ground." Abby said into the head set as she began to move towards the doors to get outside to get a stronger signal.
"Abby, it's so good to hear your voice." He told her as the two of us began to help the people within the station get ready to exit the fragment of the Ark.
"Yours too. We made it, Thelonious." She told him. "Any word from any of the other stations yet?" She asked again as I began to think about what being on the ground meant.
I could finally see my daughter, hold her in my arms for the first time in years. Tell her I love her and how sorry I was for abandoning her all those years ago. I was on the ground and I was so close to being with Rayne again. I turned around helping another woman off the ground as I tried to listen to Abby and Jaha talk.
"No. Just you so far. Can you see any sign of them?"
"Going outside now. Stand by." Abby said as I held my hand out to her to take to help get her outside.
"Tell me what it's like."
I looked up at Abby from inside the shaft leading outside, she looked absolutely beautiful in the light the sun was beaming onto her face, and she looked so uncontrollably happy. "It's everything I dreamed." She told him as she continued to look around at her new surroundings.
"So much green, there are trees everywhere, and water, and the air." She said as I began to climb up the shaft to join her outside on the piece of metal we had called home our whole lives.
"The air, smells sweet." She continued to tell him, "It's so beautiful. Thelonious, you should be here." She told him as I finally got to the outside of the Ark.
I no longer had to hear her describe the Earth's beauty to me. I was now looking at it, the way the sun beamed against the water, the amount of trees that filled the entire area. The way all the colors meshed together creating this beautiful setting all around us. It was everything we had dreamt of, it was more that beautiful. This is what life looked like.
Part of me no longer regretting sending Rayne down here, knowing that she was enjoying the beauty this planet had to offer her. Knowing it was safe, knowing she was safe. Was worth it all just to get down here to be apart of this world with her. I just couldn't take my eyes off the beauty that was surrounding me.
The sun was brightly beaming into my face, was this what sunrise looked like? Was this what it felt like? The heat, mixed with the cool breeze of air? This was what Rayne got to experience every day for the past nearly three months? I moved my hand so that it was in front of my face blocking the sun from hitting my eyes, feeling the warmth it was leaving on my skin was a sensation I don't think I'd ever thought I would get to feel in my lifetime.
I turned around to face Abby when I noticed the tall clouds of smoke off in the distance. "Abby, look." I told her pointing towards it so that she would turn around to see what it was that I was seeing.
"There's smoke in the distance." She said into the head set to Thelonious. "That might be another station we'll check it out." Another station or it could be the hundred… could be Clarke, Rayne all the children.
"You do that." Jaha told her. "Find the rest of our people, Abby. Find Clarke and Rayne." He told her again.
It gave warmth to my heart knowing he was looking out for my child too even with all the differences he and I had had over the past few years. This was the start of a new life for all of us, a new life we all owed to Jaha, to the hundred. I looked towards Abby watching the grin on her face widen at the thought of us finding our children.
