AN: I'm SORRY. There are no excuses for why this took so long, but I haven't forgotten about this story. I wanted to squeeze out a longer chapter before finals week. So here I am, like three months later with another chapter. I hope you guys enjoy. Please review! It may sound cheap, but your reviews really push me.
"You alright in there, Cos?" Sarah asked from behind the stall door. She winced as she was answered with another gag. "Let me in, yeah? Come on."
"I'll be right out," Cosima said from her position on the floor. After spitting in the toilet one last time, she shakily rose from the cold tiles and flushed.
Sarah watched as her sister carefully headed for the sinks. "Cos you should really start taking that other medicine."
"I hate that stuff," Cosima said after washing her mouth out, "It makes me tired all the time and I kinda need to be awake for classes."
"Yeah, that sucks, but you're tossin' up everything you eat."
"Not all the time," she said, performing a cleaning spell on her mouth, "Just mornings."
"Still, Cosima. The last task is like a week away, yeah? You sure you're gonna be alright?"
Cosima dried her hands and looked at Sarah, analyzing her concerned expression for a few seconds before smiling, "Yeah, I'll be fine."
Sarah squinted.
"I promise! Now stop worrying about me. Did you do your potions homework?"
"Oh for f-!"
Cosima watched Delphine work from where she had just walked into the wing. She sat as she saw her wrap a first year's arm, smiling gently at the boy. The boy, who was once sobbing, was now smiling happily at Delphine. Cosima smiled, apparently the Delphine effect worked on more people than just her.
Madam Pomfrey came over to give her another red vial, "Here's your refill. Are you feeling better?"
Cosima shrugged, "Yeah, I mean I'm still coughing but its not that bloody anymore. It's mostly my stomach now."
"Well are you drinking the other potion I gave you?"
"...No."
"And why not?"
"Because it makes me tired all the time!" Cosima exclaimed, "I'm already behind from with all the tournament stuff. The O.W.L.S. are coming up and I don't need to be sleeping in class!"
"Sleeping is how the body heals, Cosima." Madam Pomfrey informed.
"Yeah, I know, but isn't there something else you can give me to not make me sleepy?"
Madam Pomfrey sighed, "I know of a potion that may help, but it's not nearly as strong and will take time to make."
"Please do this for me," Cosima groveled, "I can't get behind this year."
"I'll make it for you. Come back on Thursday." Madam Pomfrey said, gown swishing behind her as she turned to leave.
Cosima sighed, shouldering her bag with one more glance at a laughing Delphine. She smirked as she snuck up behind her, wrapping her arms around her waist.
Delphine yelped slightly as she turned to see who grabbed her from behind. As soon as she spotted a dark lock of hair, she knew who it was, "Cosima…"
"Hey," Cosima said casually, letting Delphine turn in her arms.
Delphine leaned down to peck Cosima softly on the lips, "Bonjour."
"I wanna do something with you. Are you free tomorrow night?"
"Do… something?"
"Yeah. It's something I've been thinking of for a while now. Wanna do it?"
"Sure, I guess."
Cosima pumped her fist victoriously, "Awesome! Meet me by the Quidditch pitch at seven tomorrow, okay?"
"Oka-" Delphine mumbled before Cosima pecked her lips again, and started to trot away. "Wait!"
Cosima turned.
"W-what should I wear?"
Cosima grinned once more, "Something warm," she stated before leaving the wing.
Delphine sighed as she filed the boy's paperwork with a smile.
"So do you have any clues about the third task yet?"
"Nah," Cosima said, slowly swallowing her noodles, "I thought I could get something out of McGonagall, but she said she doesn't have any info."
"Damn," Sarah spat. "This tournament is stressing me out, and I'm not even in it."
"Don't speak so soon, Sar. You may still have a chance. We're only third years, after all."
"Not bloody likely. If my name gets picked in four years, the game is definitely rigged."
"Oh speaking of, I wonder if anyone's seen crazy hooker blonde?"
"I sure haven't. If I did, I would give her a good sock in the mouth. I hate Rachel an' all, but not enough to try and kill her."
"Yeah, what's her deal? I'd be freaked out if I saw my identical, but I think I'd be asking questions, not trying to kill her off," Cosima pondered. "You know, what if she was trained to hate us?"
"What? Why?"
"I don't know. By someone who was against the idea of clones, or cloning in general."
"Like who?"
"Maybe… people who think that it shouldn't be possible to play God, you know?" Cosima said sitting straighter, "And like she was raised in an environment that was like, uber religious, and to think that she was above all of us. Maybe she was taught that if she killed all of us off, she would reach full enlightenment," she finished, finally stilling her hands.
Sarah stared at her for a second before taking a spoonful of soup, "Yeah, you lost me."
Cosima sighed, "She's like a clone mercenary, dude. She's basically been hired to kill us off."
"How do you know that?"
"What other reason would you have to kill off your own sisters?"
"I-" Sarah paused, "don't… know."
"Exactly. Just think about that." Cosima said, coughing a few times and taking a sip of her juice.
"Did you get that medicine?"
"Not yet," Cosima said clearing her throat. "She told me to come back Thursday."
"Still do you feel better?"
"A bit, I guess. There's no more blood. But I'm just queasy all the time," she said, pushing her food around her plate.
"You still gotta eat though, you know? You're kinda losing weight."
"Am I?"
"Yeah."
Cosima looked down at herself, "I couldn't tell."
"Your chicken arms are back."
Cosima laughed out loud with a cough, "Shut the hell up, Sarah."
"I'm just saying. I'm looking for you, Cos. I notice things."
Cosima smiled sadly, "I'm fine, really. I'll be fine."
"I know you will be, but will it be fast enough for this challenge? You only get the medicine two days before it starts."
Cosima took another bite of noodles, her stomach clenching in protest. She put her fork down.
"I'll be fine, okay? Don't worry about it," she said standing up and gathering her robes. "Now I'm pretty sure I'm late for class so I'll see you later, alright?"
"Yeah- wait, since when do you care if you're on time?"
"Since my grades have actually started to suffer. Bye, Sarah," Cosima said hastily before shuffling off. Sarah watched her leave, shaking her head.
Cosima plowed into the bathroom stall, barely putting her head above the toilet bowl before emptying her stomach.
After a moment of dry heaving, she shakily rose to her feet, ignoring the head rush, and flushed the toilet. She walked over to the sink to rinse her mouth out. After splashing her face with water, she looked in the mirror. Sarah was right. She had lost weight. Her cheeks weren't as full, and she was paler than she remembered. Cosima frowned and left the bathroom.
"Nice scarf."
Delphine turned around with a smile, "Thanks, my girlfriend got it for me."
"Girlfriend? I didn't picture you as the type."
"I didn't either, to be honest. But she is way too cute to pass up."
"Oh really?" A smirk.
"Oui."
"What's cute about her?" Arms encircled her waist.
"Everything."
"Everything, huh?"
"Mm. But sometimes she can bit infuriating, too."
"Oh? How so?"
"I don't know… like how she doesn't take her medicine when she is supposed to," Delphine said pointedly.
Cosima winced, "Got me."
"Why aren't you taking it?"
"Because it makes me sleepy. Like all the time." Cosima said, unraveling herself from around the taller blonde.
"Well it's for the best that you do."
"Yeah I know, I kno- wait, what? How did you even know I wasn't taking it?"
"Sarah told me."
Cosima raised her eyebrows, "Sarah told you? Sarah talks to you? What the hell, since when were you guys buddies?"
"She had only talked to me to tell me you were not taking your medicine thinking that if I said something you would listen to me, which I hope you will do," Delphine said crossing her arms, "And what is wrong with talking to your sisters anyway? I thought that would be a good thing if we were friends, too?"
"Not if Sarah's just using you like an owl to send me messages. If she wants to have lunch and talk about the weather, that's completely fine," Cosima said, stuffing her hands in her pockets. It was an unusually cool night for June.
"They're just worried about you. As am I," Delphine said, stepping closer and cupping Cosima's cheek, "You haven't been looking well."
"So I've heard."
"Well then do something about it."
"Something will be done on Thursday when I get the new medicine."
Delphine smacked her lips, "Cosima…"
"No, Delphine," Cosima exclaimed stepping away from Delphine's hand, "I'm not taking the stupid medicine, alright? Leave it."
Delphine saw that Cosima's anger was rising and decided to obey, simply nodding and looking down at her boots. Cosima sensed Delphine's withdrawal and took her hands, "I'm sorry, I didn't bring you here to fight with you."
"I know," Delphine said with a small smile, "Why did you bring me here?"
"I'll show you," Cosima said, walking over to the tents. She disappeared behind a blue tent, only to reappear a few moments later with a broom.
Delphine's eyes widened, "Oh no…"
Cosima smirked, "Oh yes."
Sarah snuck down the hall of the dungeon, making sure to be discreet. She would probably be expelled if they found out what she was doing.
Once she reached the desired door, she pulled the knob, only to find that it was locked.
"Shite," she muttered. Taking another look around, she pulled out her wand. She doubted it would work but she had to at least try.
"Alohomora."
The door unlocked with a satisfying "click." Sarah rushed inside, quietly closing the door behind her. The room was dark, as to be expected.
"Lumos," Sarah whispered. The tip of her wand glowed. She looked at all of the different shapes and sizes of bottles, sweating harder as she couldn't find the one she was looking for. Finally she laid eyes on the desired vial.
Right as she reached for it, the sound of a key in the door made her jump, rustling the glass bottles. She grabbed the bottle quickly and slid to the corner under a shelf behind the door, hoping that that would be enough to hide her. "Nox," she whispered, and her wand obeyed as the light flickered out like a candle.
Sure enough, the door opened, revealing Professor Snape. He seemed to know exactly where every bottle was as he blindly reached over her and pulled a red vial off the shelf. When the door closed she exhaled softly, not knowing that she had held it that entire time.
She waited a few minutes before beginning to leave, before seeing another bottle. She swiped that one, as well.
"This may come in handy."
Igor put a coin on the table. "Do you see this?"
Helena nodded.
Igor waved his wand over it. "It is a portkey. Do you know what that is?"
Helena shook her head.
"It takes you to another place when you touch it."
"Where?"
"For now, to your mother."
"My mother?" Helena wasn't aware she had a mother. As far as she was concerned, her mother was a sinner. And dead.
"You will see. There is a house there. I want you to stay there for 3 nights. On the third night, another copy will come along. Kill her."
"Which copy?"
"Cosima Niehaus."
Helena's face contorted in disgust.
"Take this," Igor said, giving the girl a knife, "and kill it. Without fail."
"I won't."
Igor guided Helena to the coin, "Touch it."
Cosima giggled as they landed on Professor's viewing box. Delphine was giddy. She didn't know why she had even been afraid of flying before.
"That was… a lot of fun!" Delphine said through her own giggles.
"Right? We should be able to fly everywhere. I never want to walk again," Cosima said looking at Delphine's wind-blown hair. Delphine noticed Cosima's stare and went to organize her locks when she felt Cosima grab her hands.
"Don't," she said, "It looks good."
Delphine smiled and kissed Cosima's forehead, who smiled and captured Delphine's lips with hers. Delphine sighed into the kiss, wrapping her arms around the shorter girl's waist. Cosima put her arms around Delphine's neck, playing with the curls as she felt the blonde's tongue meet hers. Their lips danced together for a bit before Cosima broke the kiss with a nip.
"Stop," she giggled, "I need to give you something."
"Okay, what is it."
Cosima patted down her robes, thanking the stars when she felt the box in her pocket, "Here. For you."
Delphine held the narrow box in her hands, "What is it?" she repeated.
"Open it," Cosima said with a laugh.
Delphine lifted the lid on the box revealing a gold necklace, and on the end was a small dolphin with a blue topaz eye. Delphine smiled softly as she picked up the necklace and watched it glitter in the moonlight.
"I saw it and thought of you," Cosima said, wringing her hands nervously, "You like it?"
"I love it," Delphine said definitively. She handed Cosima the necklace, "Put it on for me?"
Cosima took the jewelry as Delphine turned around, moving her hair from her neck. Cosima reached up, but found it awkward to put it on, "You're too tall, madame."
Delphine laughed and sat down on the bench. Cosima straddled the bench behind the blonde and carefully draped the gold chain around her neck, kissing the spot where the clasp met smooth skin. Cosima wrapped her arms around Delphine as the girl admired the small pendant.
"It's beautiful," Delphine said leaning back into her.
"Like you," Cosima said, kissing her cheek.
Delphine giggled, "Had I known we were exchanging gifts, I would have gotten you something, too."
"It's okay, you're enough for me."
Another chuckle.
"I'll miss you," Cosima said sadly, "Over the summer."
"I will miss you, too."
"You promise to write?"
"Oui! Everyday."
"Yeah right, owls don't fly that fast," Cosima mumbled.
Delphine tightened her hold around Cosima, kissing the spot right above her ear, "Stay positive, chérie."
"Maybe I could visit. I've never seen France before, and we could go see a Quidditch game!" Cosima said hopefully.
"Mm," Delphine hummed morosely.
Cosima looked up at her girlfriend, "What?"
"What?"
"What's with the 'mm?' Is that a bad idea?"
"Non! No it's just uh…" Delphine bit her lip nervously.
"What? Tell me," Cosima beckoned.
"My parents… um…"
Cosima could put two and two together at this point, "They… don't know about me do they?"
"No…"
Cosima sat up, scratching at her dreads. "Oh."
Delphine was quick to console her and grabbed the younger girl's hand, "It's just because, I didn't know how serious this would be…"
Cosima grimaced and snatched her hand away "Really, Delphine? What you thought this would just be some fun? Some kind of experiment?"
"No! It's not like- Cosima!" Delphine shouted after the rising girl. "Cosima, it's not like that! Let me explain!"
"Oh, by all means!" Cosima said, tightly winding her arms together. Delphine rose to her feet before her, wringing her own hands together to keep them from flailing.
"I never thought, I would fall for you," Delphine started. Cosima scoffed before she continued, "But I have."
Cosima looked at Delphine's eyes, seeing nothing but sincerity. She loosened her stance and continued listening.
"Yes at first I saw you as a friend, but the more I was around you, the more I wanted to be with you. And I do not think that's going to change anytime soon. But please understand that my parents are very strict…"
Cosima waited a beat before speaking, "So are you never going to tell them?"
"I did not say that," Delphine said, taking a step closer to Cosima and rubbing her arms, "But understand why I'm hesitant to tell them. Now that I know that this is serious, I will tell them. Okay?"
"Okay." Cosima said with a sigh.
"Do not be mad at me."
"I'm not," Cosima said stepping into her arms, "I just don't want to be anyone's secret."
"You are no secret, trust me," Delphine said wrapping her arms tightly around Cosima's shoulders, "I am proud to show you off to everyone."
"I'm your trophy wife, huh?"
"Um…" Delphine hummed, putting the meaning of those words together, "Yes."
Cosima giggled, "I'm fine with that. You're my trophy wife, too."
"How's that?"
"I can tell everyone that I scored the French hottie from Beauxbatons."
"Hottie?"
"Mhm," Cosima said, leaning in for a kiss, "Cutie, hottie, whatever you prefer."
"I like the 'hottie,'" Delphine said, pressing her forehead into Cosima's.
"Hottie it is."
Delphine leant in for a kiss that Cosima eagerly returned.
"Je t'aime."
Cosima's jaw dropped. Delphine giggled and kissed her nose, "Are you surprised?"
"Y-yeah," Cosima stuttered.
"Why?"
"I don't know, sometimes I just think this is too good to be true," Cosima said, burying her face in Delphine's shoulder.
"How? You're sweet, cute, smart, funny… you're all anyone could ever ask for," Delphine soothed, running her finger's through Cosima's soft cords of hair.
Cosima sniffed in her shouder.
Delphine frowned, "Don't cry, chérie."
"Sorry… It's a happy cry."
Delphine took Cosima's cheeks in her hands and kissed her lips chastely one… two… three times. Cosima wiped her eyes underneath her glasses.
"I love you, too," she rasped. Delphine smiled widely and wrapped her arms around Cosima, squeezing her tightly.
"Eat that whole plate, Cosima."
"Ali, really?" Cosima said, looking at the feast of breakfast items Alison had thrown on her plate.
"Yes! You're losing too much weight, and you need stamina for doing what you're doing."
"I'm fine, damn it."
"You most certainly are not. I can see your cheekbones!"
"What? No you can't!" Cosima exclaimed, putting her hands up to her face.
"I can see them more than I was able to a month ago."
Cosima shook her head and took a bite of chicken.
"I mean, what is your girlfriend saying about this?" Alison asked.
Cosima scoffed, "Whatever Sarah's telling her to say," she said pointedly, eyeing Sarah with a glare.
Sarah who had been sitting quietly in thought, heard her name and met Cosima's leer, "Piss off."
"No, you piss off. Stop using my girlfriend to get to me."
"She was thinking the same thing and you know it."
"How would I know? She never said anything about it," Cosima said, voice rising.
"Well when I talked to her, she said she noticed, and that she agreed. So it wasn't me using her, it was me being worried for my sister and trying a different approach to help her."
"I can take care of myself, Sarah!" Cosima shouted.
"Then take care of yourself!" Sarah shouted back, "In the meantime, I'll bloody force feed you if I keep acting like a fucking idiot."
Cosima's face darkened, "Fuck you, Sarah," she said before quickly rising out of her seat. As she turned, she saw black dots form before her eyes, growing larger until they took over her vision.
Cosima blinked as harsh light hit her eyes. Looking around, she could see that she was in the hospital wing… again.
She sighed as she sat up, slowly this time. She found it harder to push herself up than usual as her arms shook under the pressure of her weight.
She panted as her back finally hit the head posts and felt around for her glasses. As soon as she put them on, the curtains drew back, revealing none other than her sister.
"You know, I'm really bloody tired of seeing you in this hospital."
"Then don't come," Cosima rasped.
Sarah sat down in the chair beside her and sighed. "I love you, you know that?"
"Yeah it shows."
Sarah ran a hand through her hair, "We have clashing personalities, I know. Sometimes you piss me right the fuck off. But, I really, really want you to be okay, Cosima," she finished with a quivering lip.
Cosima's face softened, "Hey, whoa… come on, don't cry please," she said feeling her own eyes water. Something about Sarah crying always struck a cord in Cosima, "Come here."
Sarah slowly approached the bed, watching Cosima scoot to the side. Sarah climbed on nestled into Cosima's side, leaning her head against her shoulder, "I can't watch you do this shit anymore, you know? It's bloody hard," she sniffed.
"I know, I know. I'm sorry," Cosima cooed as she rubbed Sarah's shoulder.
"I really just wanna kill the person you put your bloody name in the cup," she said, wiping her nose.
"Yeah, if I don't kill her first," Cosima grumbled. After a beat of silence, Cosima wondered out loud, "Where's Ali?"
"Class. I'm 'sposed to be there too, but I skipped."
"Aww, for lil' ol' me?" Cosima drawled with a giggle.
"Yeah yeah, laugh it up until your girlfriend gets here and rips you a French new one."
Cosima sobered quickly, "Oh shit…"
"Yeah."
"Dude, you gotta get me out of here."
"Not so fast Miss Niehaus," Madam Pomfrey said as she walked past the curtains.
"Uh…"
"Here," Madam Pomfrey said, handing Cosima a bottle.
"What's this?"
"Your medicine. Anti-nausea, non-drowsy, as you wished. Please take it whenever you feel nauseous. And I hope that now, you will go eat," she said looking over her glasses.
Cosima looked down guiltily as Madam Pomfrey rushed out of the area.
Sarah frowned, sitting up, "Where the hell is she off to so fast?"
Cosima raised a brow and looked at her sister, "Wanna find out?"
Cosima, with the aid of Sarah, left the bed and went to see where Madam Pomfrey went. She and a few other mediwitches were gathered around a familiar blonde.
"Rachel?" The girls said in unison.
Rachel turned, revealing a perfectly normal face. Cosima gasped, she didn't know what she was expecting, but it wasn't this. Cosima walked up to her, something Sarah wasn't so comfortable doing yet.
"Dude, you look great."
"Thank you."
"How does it feel?"
"Close to normal. It's ceramic, enhanced by magic." Rachel said, raising her chin.
"Can you like, zoom in on shit?"
"Miss Niehaus…" Madam Pomfrey began.
"No," Rachel stated coolly, "it provides the same features as a normal eye."
"Okay, cool. Well I'm glad it worked out."
"Thank you," Rachel said. Cosima smiled and walked back towards Sarah, who was standing defensively by the curtain.
"And Cosima,"
Cosima turned.
"Good luck in the challenge."
Cosima smiled, "Thanks."
After leaving the Hospital Wing, Sarah finally asked, "What the fuck?"
"What?"
"Since when are you and Rachel buddy-buddy?"
Cosima scoffed, "We're not buddies, we're civil."
"Civil?" Sarah laughed, "I knew you were a charmer. No one can resist you."
"True that."
Sarah put her arm around Cosima, "Come on, you're gonna eat a fat ass meal right now."
"Yes ma'am."
"Why weren't you in class yesterday?"
"Eh, I wasn't feeling that well." Cosima said, playing with one of Delphine's buttons.
"Why didn't you tell me? I could have come over." Delphine said looking down at the head in her lap.
"I'm okay, sweetness, I just didn't want to worry you."
Delphine frowned and leaned back on the stone pillar, "I always worry about you, you know?"
Cosima chuckled, "Yeah, I get that a lot nowadays," she said, taking Delphine's hand and playing with her fingers.
Delphine watched as the students walked in and out of the courtyard, rushing to study for the final exams. She didn't like the feeling of finality as they approached the end of the school year. It only meant that the her time with Cosima was meeting the end as well.
Delphine shuffled around, slightly disturbing the daze of the girl in her lap, "I got you something as well."
Cosima sat up slowly, "Like… candy?" she asked excitedly.
"No, Cosima. Something you could keep," Delphine said, pulling out a small box.
"Oh, the lady is proposing perhaps?"
Delphine laughed, "Maybe another time, chérie."
Cosima opened the box, revealing a gold watch with a leather band. She smiled brightly as she took it out.
"It's not as… glamorous, as what you got me, but… I hope you like it-"
"I love it," Cosima said, putting it on her left wrist.
"It's so you can finally keep track of time," Delphine said smartly.
"Shut up," Cosima said with a laugh as she leaned in for a kiss. They had deepened it considerably before they were interrupted.
"Should I come back later?"
The girls parted with a smack as they looked up at the English girl. Cosima laughed nervously, "Sorry Sarah, I lost track of time," she said robotically.
Delphine nudged her knowingly, causing Cosima to stick her tongue out at her.
"You ready?" Sarah asked.
"Yup," Cosima said, gathering her bag. She leaned down and gave Delphine a peck on the lips, "Love you," she said quietly.
"Love you, too."
Sarah and Cosima headed to Ravenclaw Tower, where they agreed they would hang out and Cosima would help Sarah with her Studies.
"Okay, so werewolves can only keep human thoughts during transformation when…" Cosima prompted.
"Er… when they take the potion or whatever."
"Which potion, Sarah?"
"Um…" Sarah rubbed her hair, "Uh…"
"Starts with wolf-"
"Wolfsbane potion!"
"Invented by who?" Cosima quizzed.
Sarah smacked her lips, "Come on, Cos."
"You wanna pass or what?"
"I dunno, just tell me."
"Damocles?"
Sarah huffed, "I knew that."
Cosima chuckled, turning to another page in the large DADA textbook. "Right," she drawled, "Let's move on-"
"Ah come on Cos, we've been at it for hours. It's like nine o'clock."
"Yeah well… studying is keeping my mind off tomorrow."
Sarah sighed, "You'll be fine. I promise," she said, patting Cosima's shoulder. "I made you something- well more like stole it for you."
Cosima watch her sister curiously as she produced a boxed cupcake from her bag. She beamed as Sarah handed it over to her, "Aw, Thanks Sarah! Where'd you get it?"
"There was some fancy banquet thing goin' on in the Hall. I just crashed it."
Cosima laughed and opened the cupcake box.
"I gotta go," Sarah said, picking up her things. "Hey, don't worry about tomorrow, alright? You'll be fine."
"Okay," Cosima said through a mouthful of cake. "See ya."
"Later."
Sarah closed the door behind her as she moved swiftly to their common room. She sighed in relief when the person she hoped would be there was indeed there.
"Scott."
Scott and his friends looked up from the chess board, his eyes widened as he saw the familiar face in another form, he'd never get used to that. "Hey, Sarah, right?"
"Yeah, look I need a favor from you."
Scott nodded and got up from the chess table, turning to one of his friends, "Painmaker, you take my place."
The blonde nodded eagerly, "Won't fail you, boss."
Sarah rolled her eyes, these were Cosima's friends…
As they walked to a secluded corner, Scott spoke up, "What's going on?"
"Cosima's asleep."
Scott looked at her funny, "So?"
"She will be for a very long time."
Cosima woke up, extremely well rested. She slowly sat up and reached for her glasses, frowning when they weren't in her usual spot. She was frantically searching for them when she saw the time, "Oh fuck!"
Forgoing the glasses, she went to her trunk to get her jersey when she found that she couldn't find that either. "What the hell?"
Her panic was interrupted by a knock on the door. She quickly moved away from her trunk, stumbling over a shoe to get to the door.
Opening the door, she squinted at the person behind the door, "Scott?"
"Hey Cos-" He tried to say before she grabbed him by the collar.
"What the fuck is happening right now? Where are my glasses and where is my jersey?"
Scott looked down guiltily, "Sarah took them."
Cosima dropped his shirt and backed away, "No… No way, Scott. She can't do this. She can't fucking do this!"
"Look she told me to tell you to act as her, or else the whole thing won't work."
Cosima sat on her bed, clutching at her locks of hair, "I can't do that, Scott. I have fucking dreadlocks."
Scott produced clothes from his bag, "She told me to give you these as well."
Cosima eyed the black skinny jeans, boots, and blue plaid flannel hoodie, and put her head in her hands, "Why is she doing this…"
"We're both worried about you Cosima, and you're definitely in no shape to compete. To be honest, I think what she's doing is best."
Cosima stared sadly at the floor, "She's gonna die out there."
"You don't know that. If you can do it, she could."
"That's the thing," Cosima said looking up at Scott, "I barely could. How could she fair any better? She doesn't know that many spells."
"Have faith in her. At this point, she can do a bit better than you, no offense."
Cosima chuckled humorlessly.
"Come on, put that stuff on. Let's go watch."
Sarah walked up to the Quidditch Pitch, which had been expanded to accompany a huge maze. She walked past the crowd of people to where the other Champions were standing.
"Cosima!"
Sarah turned to see Delphine striding towards her with a smile, "Hey-"
Delphine beamed, cupping Sarah's cheeks and pressed her lips to hers.
Sarah looked around nervously as this was happening, almost embarrassed that this was happening, but then remembered that she was Cosima.
Delphine pulled away, not noticing the girl's slight shudder, "You look well. Did you get a good sleep?"
"Er… yeah I did," Sarah said scratching at the back of her head, "Um… Totes."
"Good, good. Um… how do you feel?"
"Nervous," Sarah answered honestly, "At least there's no water… or whatever."
"Whatever happens in there, just please come out awake," Delphine said with an exhausted chuckle.
Sarah laughed, "Right?"
Delphine brought her in for a hug, "I love you."
Sarah's eyebrows rose. 'Damn Cos, you got that far already?' "I love you, too."
Delphine squeezed her for a moment, kissing her cheek. "Good luck."
"Thanks," Sarah said, walking off to the rest of the champions.
Minutes later, the champions walked into the arena, the crowd of students cheering and chanting excitedly as they took their place in front of the 10 feet tall bushes.
"Silence!" Dumbledore called over the crowd, making many students wince.
"Earlier today, Professor Moody place the Triwizard Cup deep within the maze. Only he knows its exact position. Now as Mister Diggory-"
The Hogwarts students roared with applause as Cedric's father held up his wrist.
"…and Miss Niehaus,"
The Hogwarts students stayed standing and acknowledged her with almost equally loud appause.
"…tied for first position, they will be first to enter the maze, followed by Mister Krum and Miss Delacour. The first person to touch the cup will be the winner!"
Their schools cheered for them as Dumbledore continued.
Scott helped Cosima up to the stands. Cosima had wiped off all of her usual makeup, and put on Sarah's clothes, but she still had dreadlocks, and she wasn't sure if Sarah could pull those off.
Once they got to the top, She looked for Sarah on the field. She spotted her, barely, just being able to make out her own name on the back of her shirt. She looked…
"…Just like me…" Cosima verbalized.
"What?"
"She looks just like me."
"Well, you guys are identical." Scott pointed out.
"No, Scott, she is me. Her hair is dreaded, and her boobs are like… as big as mine. Did she say she was taking polyjuice potion?"
Scott shrugged, "She didn't tell me anything. She just told me to look after you today."
"Well, did you see her take my hairbrush or anything?"
"Yeah, I did. She just said she lost hers…"
Cosima put her hands in her hair, "Fuck…"
Scott patted her shoulder, "Cosima, it's not that bad."
"No, Scott, it actually is bad. This shit is totally illegal. We could get in serious trouble…"
"Then just don't let anyone find out. You could impersonate her if it came to it, right? You guys are sisters."
Cosima sighed, "I guess… Come on, let's go find Alison."
Back on the field, Sarah could feel herself visibly shaking. She hoped she could just breeze through this challenge without a scratch, but at the same time, she really wanted to win the cup for her sister, who had worked so hard despite the odds against her.
"Contestants! Gather 'round, quickly." Dumbledore beckoned.
The four champions got in a tight huddle around Dumbledore.
"Alison!" Cosima said in a poor English accent.
Alison looked over at her sister in question, "Sarah, where have you been?! Cosima's almost starting!"
Cosima shrugged, "Uh… Bloody 'ell. I missed the whole 'fing?"
Alison squinted, "Wait…" she said as she looked down at the field at the slouching figure. She looked back at her sister, and repeated this process three more times. Looking around, she whispered, "Cosima?"
Cosima frowned, "That didn't take long."
"That the hell are you doing up here?"
"Sarah slipped me a sleeping potion last night, and took my shit. She didn't want me to compete in my condition…"
Alison gasped, "What the hell does she think she's doing…"
"No idea. Let's just cheer for her."
"In the maze," Dumbledore mumbled, "You'll find no dragons or creatures of the deep. Instead, you'll face something even more challenging. You see, people change in the maze. Oh, find the cup if you can, but be very wary, because you could just lose yourselves along the way."
Everyone nodded in understanding as they parted.
"Champions, prepare yourselves!"
Sarah walked over to her maze entrance slowly. She looked back at the stands, seeing her sisters sitting next to each other, both staring at Sarah with unhappy glares.
'Sorry,' she mouthed.
Cosima just slid her thumb across her throat and pointed back at her. Sarah chuckled and shook her head.
"On the count of three," Dumbledore announced, "One-"
BOOM!
Dumbledore shot a look at Filch, who ignorantly raised his arms.
The music started up, indicating that Cedric and "Cosima" should enter the maze. Sarah slowly stepped past the tall bush, palms practically dripping in anticipation. Once she was a few steps in, the hedge closed behind her, tuning out all noise and music as if it wasn't even there.
She looked over Cosima's glasses "Shite…"
