Rayne's Point of View
Crawling in the mud towards Octavia I began to push myself off the ground so that I was sitting next to her my head spinning. "Rayne, are you ok?" I heard my fathers voice ask me, yet he sounded like he was miles away from me.
"Octavia?" I weakly said as I felt my father pick me up off the ground.
"Be careful when you pick up Miss Blake, lets take them to medical."
I felt so groggy, so much pain shooting through my body; I could feel that the blood in my nose was starting to become solid against my skin. I felt my dad place me on a cot as I could finally start feeling my head settle. Looking over I saw Octavia sitting next to me looking just as battered if not worse than I was.
"Hey, how are you feeling?" I asked her as I quickly realized how much pain my jaw was in.
She scoffed; "Pretty good, you?" She smirked.
"I literally don't think I have ever felt so good, O'." I teased.
We sat there in silence while the few people in the room began to clean the dried blood off our faces and check our bones for breaks or springs. Luckily we where ok, just roughed up and covered in bruises. I could only imagine what Bellamy and Lincoln would do if they saw us in the condition we were both in.
Octavia moved slightly before she had begun to wince in pain, looking over at her I watched as she rubbed her chin, which was scraped, and bleeding lightly. "I may have lied when I said I was feeling good." Octavia tried not to laugh.
"If it helps, I feel like Raven did when she crash landed on the ground." I told her as she smiled.
"Lincoln and Bells would be pissed off if they knew what we did tonight." She told me as I nodded with her in agreement.
"I think in a way they would be proud of us. I mean look at us O' we're not sitting around waiting to die; we're not waiting around for them to come back and protect us. We aren't sitting here to be pawns in someone else's plan. We aren't just waiting for Clarke to screw up another peace treaty or fix one… We are protecting ourselves." I told her as she smiled at me nodding.
"We are being our own heroes; we're making sure that we can keep ourselves safe; we don't being bothered to wait on anyone. Even if we got our Asses handed to ourselves." I told her as I laughed, along with her.
"You're right," she told me. "See aren't you glad I dragged you into that today?" She smiled at me.
"Yea, I guess I am glad you did. I have to stop sitting on the sidelines waiting for others. I have been doing that since we got down here. Anything anyone else wanted to do I would do it because they wanted me to not because I wanted too."
She nodded; "I was the same way until Lincoln came into my life."
"Bellamy is really proud of your O', how far you have come since we landed. I know he wont say it, and he will probably never admit it but he really is proud of the woman you've become." I told her as she let a small tear escape her eye.
"I am still rooting that you two get married." She told me, "And since the laws about not having more than one child are gone, you two can have at least six kids. One obviously named Octavia." She told me with a large smile.
"Six kids? What are you and Lincoln planning on babysitting them all?" I asked her with a smile.
"Well, I think we can talk about all that when our boys get back." I told her as she grinned. "I just hope Bellamy would agree to come away with Lincoln and I, and not stick around here with Clarke and the 'Sky People'" She said with quotes.
"I'm sure Bellamy feels just like we do, none of us belong here anymore. We never did belong here, with these people." I told her as we heard someone clear their throat.
I turned and noticed Indra had entered the room, walking cautiously towards us. Looking around the room with curiosity and suspicion, before she stopped and stood there in front of Octavia. "What do you want?" Octavia asked her harshly.
"You both fought like children today—" Indra explained to us.
I tried so hard not to let myself laugh at what she had said, the fact that she even bothered to come in here to say it. Bothered me. "All aggression, no thought, no defense, always leaving yourself exposed, revealing your next move before each strike." She told Octavia as she looked to me.
"And you, anger, aggression, hatred, you showed your enemy far too much of yourself. Showed all of your weaknesses and none of your strengths or abilities." She said to me as I shook my head, keeping my gaze forward and away from her.
"Ok, we get it, we got our Asses kicked." Octavia spat at her. "We're already at our weak point Indra, we honestly don't need you to belittle us anymore than we both already feel." I reminded her as I looked towards her.
"It should make you happy. How badly we got beaten today, us being Sky People and all." Octavia snapped at her again.
"It does…" Indra trailed off as Octavia scoffed, which merited an eye roll from me. "Because neither of you gave up." Indra told us as she sat down next to Octavia.
"Strength of spirit like that is rare. It must be guided. Do either of you know what a warrior's second is?" She asked us.
"An apprentice." I said slowly remembering how Anya had told us a while back that the new Commander was once her second.
"I can make one of you a great warrior, Nova will take on the other." She told me.
"Nova left with Murphy." Octavia explained.
"Nova will be back, her loyalty lies with her people not with that lost boy." She told us. "Octavia and Rayne of the Sky People, if you're willing to do what it takes to become our seconds." She told us as Octavia turned to look at me curiously.
"What's in it for you two?" Octavia asked her.
"First lesson—never question me." Indra told her.
"So I am to become Nova's second?" I asked her.
"Nova had expressed the desire to have Octavia as her second, considering the closeness she has with her brother. You Rayne will be my second." She explained.
"Nova hates me." Octavia sighed.
"Nova respects you; she has anger towards your people. You she likes, more than any others in your clan." She explained to her as I watched the smile grow onto Indra's lips.
The woman hated our people and the thought of knowing that Nova also hated them brought her a joy that scared me to say the least. She stood up and had begun to walk away from us and towards the door. Was she right about Nova would she chose her people over Murphy? Over love?
"I'll do it." I told Indra my voice cold with no hesitations.
"Same, right when Nova returns." Octavia spoke up.
"You will both start tomorrow." Indra said over her shoulder as she continued to walk out of the room as Octavia turned and looked at me. "That literally just happened." She told me, "I thought Nova was Lexa's second…" She questioned.
"Second in command I think, not second as in apprentice." I told her as she nodded, "That would make sense." She smiled.
"Ray, we belong somewhere now." She said nudging my arm causing me to shout out in pain she looked at me with a smile. "Sorry!"
Walking out side Octavia and I sat down next to each other near a small fire. The grounders had gotten back from their hunt and were feeding all our people the meat off the beats they brought back.
"Eat, get strong, only then will we win this war." Indra told all the people from the camp along with her own. I watched as my father walked towards Indra taking some of the meat from her as he thanked her.
Everyone from the camp excitedly began to line up to eat the animal's meat that the grounders had brought back to us. I was starting to feel more and more like they wanted to join the grounders clan over sticking around Camp Jaha. Octavia nudged my arm again alerting me to the fact that my father was approaching us.
"You both did this." He told us. "Thank you."
"You're welcome." Octavia snapped. "Don't blow it, Dad." I told him.
Fio walked over with two plates handing them to Octavia and I while making the remark; "The boar put up more of a fight than either of you." He said as he walked away.
"I see you're both making friends." My dad chuckled.
"Better friends than enemies." I commented as Octavia looked up at me with a smirked.
"What do you want from us Kane." Octavia spat at him as my eyes wondered behind us towards Indra who was staring at where Octavia and I where sitting.
"What do you think is gonna happen once we get your friends back?" He asked us, "For now, we have a common goal, but one day, this war is gonna end. What then?" He continued to say.
"Just get to the point." Octavia snapped again as I turned back around to join the conversation again.
"We know so little about them. You both seem to have earned their respect. I need you both to be my eyes and ears." My father continued to say as I cocked my head to the side before looking over at Octavia.
"You want us to be spies dad, really?" I mused.
"I'm asking you two, to look out for your people." He told me as Octavia stood up pulling me up along side her. "We are." She told him as we both turned around to walk back to where Indra was.
She sat there looking between the two of us, while informing Octavia that her scouts had told her Nova was on her way back to the camp without Murphy. She seemed fairly happy about this factor as well, she seemed to like the fact that Nova was also leaving one of the camps people behind her.
Bellamy's Point of View
Walking through the cave we had finally hit the rail tracks walking down them in almost perfect silence. Lincoln had been hauntingly silent with me almost the entire walk through the forest. Maybe Nova was right when she said Lincoln coming with me was a bad idea; so soon after we had got him back from being a reaper.
I soon realized he had started slowing down as I turned to look at him, "Why are we stopping?" I asked him as he stared at the floor. "Lincoln?" I asked him.
I followed his eyes to the floor where there was a small vile on the ground in front of his foot. It was the red he had been telling us all about back at the camp. The crap they had been injecting him with to control him, I watched as his foot slowly moved over top of the vile and crushed the vile. Looking back up at his face I watched as he stared blankly at me. "You ok?" I asked him.
"As soon as they open the intake doors, we attack." He told me. "Do not let it close."
"Once they're all dead, you go in." He said again after he had moved closer to me. "I'll make it look like you escaped. Once you're inside—" He continued to tell me as I cut him off quickly.
"I know." I told him, as we started to grow silent to the sounds of distant chatter, looking over at him. "Another raider party." Lincoln suddenly said as he rushed me pushing me to the wall, "What're you doing?" I asked him as he had started to rough me up.
"We have to go back. It's the only way." He told me.
"Go back? No way. This is the only way to keep Rayne and Octavia safe." I told him.
"There's maybe three or four we can fight our way through. We'll never get a better chance than this." I continued to explain to him.
"I thought I could do this, but I can't." Lincoln admitted to me. "It's over."
"No. It's not." I told him, "We can join them. Listen to me." I started to tell him as he shook his head at me, "When they bring out the red, you grab it, and you run like hell. The reapers will go nuts, the grounders will run, and the mountain men have to deal with it. No one will be looking for a grounder running into the Mountain." I explained to him.
"I said no!" He shouted at me as he threw me to the ground, I jumped up when I noticed the Reaper run around the corner which was when I realized my arm restraints where gone. "Fight back." I mumbled to him.
"They'll think I'm trying to escape." I told him as I pushed into him face.
He quickly turned the entire fight against me as he knocked me to the ground when the Reaper stopped in front of us. Lincoln said something to the Reaper as they rest of them entered the area with a ground of Grounders tied their hands around a long log.
He brought me towards the log nodding to me slightly as one of the Reapers put a blindfold around my eyes tying it tightly around my head. I don't think I have ever shaken so much in my life. This could be the end for me; I didn't know what was going to happen to Lincoln when he saw the red liquid. That scared me more than what he told me the Mountain Men where going to do to me if they got ahold of me.
The grounders around me had begun to speak in their own language, taking off all of our clothing making us sit there on our knees in the rough dirt as we waited for the mountain men to come out. I found myself looking over at Lincoln seeing if he was ready to carry out our plan.
He nodded at me alerting me that he too was ready for this to happen when the door made beeping noises while it opened. "Stay back, or your won't get your dose." A voice said from behind the still barely opening door.
The reapers all began to move away from us as a few guards walked outside of the door followed by what looked like a woman in a blue space type suit. "First dose up." One of the men said as a reaper knelt down in place as the man injected him.
"Next." The man said as the woman moved so that she was standing before me. She looked directly as me before pointing at me, "Harvest." She said as I felt the pit of my stomach to drop.
She had continued to condemn the grounders that the reapers had collected for the mountain men, the same time the man behind me had continued to give the reapers their dose of the red liquid. I turned my head to look at Lincoln who seemed to be having a very rough internal debate about what he was going to do. "Next." The man said as Lincoln looked directly as me as I began to shake my head.
"Come on. Next." The man urged Lincoln as I sat there watching him as he walked towards the man slowly kneeling down in the same place that all the others before him had knelt.
I watched as all hope of seeing Rayne again began to slip away. I was never going to be able to hold her close or kiss her lips again because we had all stupidly not listened to Nova. She had told us that Lincoln should stay away from here, should keep out of the Reaper area.
I watched as the red liquid had been injected into his neck, he fell backwards onto the ground as his eyes had begun to roll back. This was it, in not listening to Nova and trusting Clarke I may have gotten myself killed, Rayne killed, Octavia… I got everyone I cared about and loved killed. I could feel every part of my body tense as they forced us to our feet and filed us into the doors to begin our treatment to become the next to be harvested.
