Chapter 3

Rin, Kohaku's Apprentice

"You want me to what?" "You heard me Kohaku, I want you to train Rin to become a demon slayer." "Why?"

Sesshomaru and Kohaku were talking in front of Sango and Miroku's house. As the sun started to rise, they discussed the reason Sesshomaru wanted Rin to acquire this type of training.

"You intend to marry Rin?" Kohaku asked rather loudly.

"Keep your voice down, or you'll wake up the entire village."

Sesshomaru said in an angry tone.

"Oh, sorry, you just shocked me as all. I guess I could train her. I never had an apprentice before."

Kohaku said, unsure of the upcoming events.

"Well you are going to start now." Sesshomaru said, crossing his arms.

"Lord Sesshomaru, do you really trust me? I mean, Rin and I are almost the same age." Kohaku replied, brushing the back of his head awkwardly.

"Why should your close relationship matter?" Sesshomaru asked.

Kohaku blushed and replied, answering quickly. "Uhh, it doesn't! Forget what I said…."

Sesshomaru was puzzled but spoke again, shaking off the boy's unusual teen behavior.

"All I am saying, is that if you have the skills and proper training you can do it."

Kohaku sighed and rolled his eyes, after a long hard thought, he spoke again.

"What will I gain from this Lord Sesshomaru?"

"Heh, your sisters praise perhaps?"

Sesshomaru said with a smirk.

"OH, sister…" Kohaku peered inside and looked at his sister cuddled up to Miroku, unaware that the monk was slightly awake, listening to their conversation.

"Well? What is your decision?" Sesshomaru asked.

Kohaku sighed and replied in excitement and an outgoing manor.

"Ok, I will train her. I will train Rin to become a demon slayer!"

Sesshomaru rolled his eyes and spoke again."

"Must you be so enthusiastic?"

Kohaku nodded, Sesshomaru rolled his eyes once again. Just then, Master Jaken came flying down to the ground on Ah-Un .

"Lord Sesshomaru, are we going now?"

The dog demon glared at the imp demon and replied in a cold matter.

"Don't rush me…"

"Wah! OK, OK, I'm sorry!"

Jaken said in fear, not irritating his Master any further. Sesshomaru turned back once more and spoke before going on his way.

"So, you will protect her, train her, for the next 2 years. Do not fail Kohaku."

"I swear, I will protect and train her as if my life depended on it."

"Fine, were leaving Jaken." Sesshomaru said, taking off in a huff, having Jaken trailing behind on Ah-Un. "Wait for me Lord Sesshomaru! Don't leave me behind!" The imp demon shouted.

Kohaku sighed and took a stroll around the village. Miroku couldn't believe his ears! 'Was Kohaku taking on Rin as an apprentice?' The monk thought, looking out the window.

"Miroku, what is it?" Sango asked, looking up at him.

"Oh, it's nothing my dearest, go back to sleep." Miroku replied, rubbing her back slightly.

"Oh, I don't want to go back to sleep…"

Sango said, blushing at the same time. "Sango, the children." Miroku said back, blushing as well. Sango snuggled up once again and spoke. "They're all sound asleep, please? Just this once? Before they wake?" "Of course." Miroku said with a smile, as he kissed his wife. He set aside what he just heard for now, and from then on they proceeded with the love making.

Down by Inuyasha and Kagome's house…

"Morning Kohaku, or should I say Master?" Rin said with a snide smirk.

"Ha-ha, very funny Rin." Kohaku said sarcastically.

It was quiet for a moment. Rin then spoke once again. "So, what is the first step of my training?"

"You want to start now?!" Kohaku said, eyes wide open in shock.

"Sure I do, I don't want to waste precious time. Instead of hanging around, I could be training!" Rin replied with confidence.

"Ha-ha, you really want this don't you?" Kohaku asked, putting his arms behind his head as they walked down the path.

"More than anything!" Rin shouted.

"Of course you do." Kohaku said with a warm smile.

"Ah, good morning Kohaku."

Kohaku turned to the voice, it was Kagome. She had emerged from her house with a smile. Kohaku waved and stopped by the house and replied.

"Oh Lady Kagome, good morning. How is Tuskinu coming along training under her father?"

"Perfect as always, she is her father's daughter." Kagome said with a smile. Rin giggled and spoke as well.

"I'm training too Miss Kagome!"

"Oh?" Kagome uttered, tying an apron from her time era around her waist. Rin nodded in happiness and replied.

"Yeah, I'm Kohaku's apprentice now, he's going to train me to become a demon slayer!"

"Wow! Is that true Kohaku?" Kagome said in excitement.

"Uhh, yeah, it is—"Kohaku started, before being interrupted by Kagome.

"Wow that's great!" Kagome belted cheerfully.

"What's great?" Inuyasha asked coming out of the house, clutching Kagome's apron. He yawned and scratched his head.

"Oh, morning Inuyasha." Rin started. "Kohaku is training Rin to become a demon slayer." She finished.

"Really? Heh, it seems he will experience his first apprentice." Inuyasha said with a smirk, slightly leaning on Kagome; he was not quite awake yet. Kohaku rolled his eyes and spoke with a chuckle.

"My first? No, Rin will be the first and last person I teach."

"Uhhh, Miroku!"

Inuyasha's eyes popped out of his sockets as he glared at Miroku and Sango's house. He then spoke again, still clutching on to Kagome's apron. "I see they have finished their morning routine."

"It would seem so." Kagome started, looking towards the house. She cleared her throat awkwardly and spoke again. "Well I have to make breakfast, it was good to see you again Kohaku."

"Uhh yes, you too." Kohaku said, nodding. Rin gripped Kohaku's arm in her hand and spoke. "Come on Kohaku let's go!" "Ok, okay, I'm coming."

Kohaku and Rin made their way towards the lake. Kagome smiled and put her arm around Inuyasha. "Say, Kagome." Inuyasha asked.

"Yes?" Kagome replied, looking at the hanyou.

"Tuskinu is sound asleep, right?"

Inuyasha said, pulling Kagome close. She blushed then spoke.

"That she is, lets' head inside." Kagome said, heading back inside the house.

"Alright…"

Inuyasha responded with a perverted smile. As the couple started their morning love making, Miroku and Sango were getting ready to go for a walk. " Waaaaaa! Waaaaaa!" "Oh, he still has a runny nose, perhaps I should call on Lady Kaede." Sango said in a worried manor, wiping Miroku JR's nose. SR Miroku thought this would be the perfect time to tell Sango what he heard. "Sango, can I tell you something?" Miroku asked, dressing the twins to go outside.

"Can it wait? I am kind of busy here."

Sango said in anger.

"Not even if it's about Kohaku?"

Sango's eyes widened, she then turned to the twins and spoke.

"Girls…"

"Yes momma?"

"Yeah Momma?"

"Take care of your brother, your father and I need to talk." "Oh, ok." "Got it"

Later….Outside….

"Sango, it would seem Kohaku has taken on Rin as an apprentice." Miroku said, crossing his arms across his chest.

"What? He intends to train her as a demon slayer? Why?" Sango asked.

"It would seem Sesshomaru requested it." Miroku replied, looking towards the lake where the two were.

"Why would he ask Kohaku of such things? That's a lot to have on your shoulders, training someone in the art of demon slaying. It is not easy to master." Sango commented furiously.

"Well, Rin wants to go back to Sesshomaru and- as I call it- to bear his children. She wants to live with him in peace." Miroku replied, his arms still crossed on his chest.

"That's wonderful but, why train when she has Sesshomaru?" Sango asked curiously.

"Well, he wants her to be able to take care of herself, so he doesn't have to be burdened by saving her all the time." Miroku sighed while replying.

"What?! That's selfish!" Sango shouted.

"I wish it were true, but he has a point. From what I have gathered by Inuyasha, he told me Sesshomaru likes to wander. Sometimes days, or even weeks. If they were to have children, he wouldn't be there to protect them when danger comes. If she were to be strong like him, she could protect the children on her own."

Sango nodded and sighed. She then replied.

"You have a point, let's get the children dressed, I want to observe how he trains her."

Miroku nodded and spoke, turning to the house.

"Of course my love, Girls, get dressed!" "Oh yes daddy!" "Of course father."

"You too son."

"Oh, k." the young toddler said, nodding while wiping his runny nose. The family than headed down to the creek to watch Kohaku teach his first student.
