Chapter 4
Rin starts her training, Demon Slayer in the making!

Rin had finally started her training. Her first day, and it was bright and early! However, Rin was used to it. After all, she gets up early anyway to help Lady Kaede in the fields. The two packed up and headed down by the creek, and began their training.

"Ok Rin, the first step in Demon Slaying is learning to protect yourself." Kohaku said, tossing his weapon away and standing in front of Rin.

"Well when I get my weapon I won't need to." Rin said, bragging of sorts. Kohaku rolled his eyes. With a smirk, he spoke.

"Ah, what if your opponent knocks it out of your hand? Then what?"

"Ummmm." Rin scratched her head in a clueless manor. "I don't know."

"Indeed, so your first lesson is basic defence, followed by some martial arts."

"Oh wow! You're going to teach me Karate Kohaku?!"

"Uhh, yes-"

"Amazing!" Rin inuturpted. Kohaku sighed and shouted in a sort of way, replying.

"Pay attention Rin! Karate in Demon Slaying should only be used as a last resort, never use it for revenge, only self-defence."

"So, if I lose my weapon somehow in battle that is when I use it?" Rin asked, scratching her head.

"Right! Now you're getting it." Kohaku said with a smile.

"Yay! I'm half way there!" Rin said., getting ahead of herself.

"Wait Rin, you still have to learn it first." Kohaku said, putting his hands on hips sternly.

"Oh right, silly me." Rin said with a giggle.

Meanwhile, Miroku , Sango and their children were observing from a far, hiding in the bushes XD

"There they are." Miroku said, pointing the twosome out. Sango watched her brother, teaching Rin. She was happy for him.

"Ok Rin there are 3 defence positions you must know before we get into the martial arts." Kohaku said, raising his arms up.

"Ok." Said Rin nodding.

Kohaku took hold of Rins wrists and raised her arms up "There is the High defence, protecting your upper body and face." Kohaku then pulled Rins arms down to her waist. "Then there is the Low defence, which protects your ribs, internal organs, and your legs."
Rin nodded and spoke.
"What is the third one?"

Kohaku smiled and spoke while crossing over Rins arms, exposing her elbows.
"This is the stance defence. Not only does it protect your body, but you can use your elbows as weapons, bashing your opponent."

"Oohh, that's a lot to remember." Rin said nervously.

"Come on, let's try it. Show me the high defence. You'll do just fine" Kohaku said reassuringly

"Ok." Rin said, smiling. She felt better about herself, thanks to her Sensai's words of encouragement. Rin raised her arms up to that special defence position. Kohaku nodded and spoke again.

"Ok, I am going to come at you very slowly, keep holding that position until I tell you to switch."
Rin nodded, giving the okay to her Master to come at her. Kohaku placed his leg in a round house position and lightly placed his leg on Rins arms.

"Uhhh, Oww." Rin said, as she wasn't used to holding all that weight.
"It's all right, you're doing well for your first time. Now show me the low defence." Kohaku demanded.

Rin threw her arms down into the low position. Kohaku lightly punched, Rin stayed strong in the defence position Kohaku asked her to stay in. "Great, now show me the stance position." Kohaku thundered, ignoring Rins pain. "Uhh that really hurt Kohaku." Rin said frowning.

"Oh? Does that mean you're going to give up?" Kohaku asked, trying to be slightly hard on her. She needed the harshness to make her strong.
"N-no! Of c-course not!" Rin shouted.

"Ok then, now show me the stance position!" Kohaku demanded again.

"Yes Master." Rin said, bowing.
Rin got into the stance position, crossing her arms and exposing her elbows. Kohaku punched her crossed arms. Despite the pain she stood strong. With her left elbow she clocked Kohaku's arm away, then clocked his face, sending him to the ground.

"Uhhh." Kohaku said, groaning and rubbing his chin in slight agony. "Oh Kohaku! Are you ok?" Rin asked, rushing to his side.

"Are you serious? That was amazing!" Kohaku said with a grin.
Oh! Really Sensai?" Rin asked in happiness.

"Yeah, let's go again." He said, raising his hands again, getting up from the ground.

"Yes Master Kohaku!" Rin said, heading her Masters orders.
All day and all night until sunrise, they trained. By morning, Rin knew basic defence and basic martial arts.

The Next Day.

"Ok, now that I have taught you the basics, it's time to teach you part two of lesson one." Kohaku said carefully.
"What's that Master?" Rin asked.

Kohaku ran over and behind Rin so fast she didn't even get a chance to blink!

"Huh?!" Rin uttered, speechless from Kohaku's fast feet.

"Speed and agility." He finally said, bowing of sorts.

"Wow! How will I learn that?" Rin asked. "Is there a special potion, or a spell?" She asked again.

"All you have to do is exercise." Kohaku answered.

"Huh?" Rin uttered, as she did not get it.

"To be fast, you have to be fit." Kohaku added.

"You are not serious are you?" Rin asked, rolling her eyes.

"Sure and I have some people to help you along. Inuyasha, Tuskinu, she's ready."

Inuyasha and his daughter blasted over beside Kohaku. Inuyasha smirked and nuggied Rin while speaking. Rin frowned at the unwanted affection.

"So, already on part two huh?" Inuyasha said with a smirk.

Tuskino smirked like her father and spoke.

"Wow father, I outta give her credit for that."
"Heh, no kiddin."

Inuyasha replied, looking down at his offspring. Kohaku rolled his eyes with a smile and spoke to Rin while lugging his bag and weapon over his shoulder.
"Ok Rin, this is where I leave you. Until I get back in 3 days, you will join Tuskinu and Inuyasha every morning on their morning run."

"WHAT?! Master Kohaku I-" Rin began.

"Ah you heard him girly, time to get fit!" Inuyasha's daughter said, interrupting Rin while putting on a grin. "I am not girly!" Rin said furiously. She began chasing Tuskinu!

"That's the ticket Girly! Get mad, get furious!"

"Stop calling me that!" Rin demanded.

Kohaku rolled his eyes with a smile, waved to Miroku and Sango, and then left the village. All that morning and the remainder of those 3 days, Rin trained physically with Inuyasha and his offspring. 'It's was going to be a long agonizing 2 years' Rin thought, jogging behind Inuyasha and Tuskinu.

4 days later….

"He's late. He was supposed to be here yesterday." Rin said with a sigh, as there was no sign of Sesshomaru anywhere. Tuskinu chewed on her tooth pick then patted Rin on the back while speaking.

"Relax girly, I am sure he will come soon."

"That Dog! Always showing up late! AND DON'T CALL ME GIRLY!" Rin said, clenching her fist.
Tuskinu backed down in fear. "WAH! SCARY!" Rin puffed back towards the village.

"Uhh girly, where are you going?" Tuskinu asked.

"To see Master Kohaku, I need to talk to him. Don't call me that! UGHH!"

With that last word and almost growl, Rin bolted away down the path to find her Sensai. Tuskinu shrugged her shoulders and went about her own business.
Later, at Sango and Miroku's house…

"Hi Miss Sango, is Master Kohaku here?" Rin asked, peaking her head into the house.
'She's calling him Master? Wow.' Sango thought, cradling her 4th child.

"Of course, aren't you supposed to be with Sesshomaru?" Sango asked, diverting the thought of what Rin just called her brother.

"Heh, he didn't show up, again!" Rin said, pouting.

"Rin, I am sure he will show up soon." Sango said, putting the child in their bed.

"Heh, soon this, soon that." Rin said, sighing.

"Oh, hello Rin. What are you doing here? Your training doesn't start until 8:15 this morning."
Speak if the devil, there was Kohaku, emerging from the back door of the house.

"Oh Master Kohaku, there you are. Umm, I was hoping we could start early." Rin said, trying to hide the fact that Sesshomaru was a no show. However, Kohaku was older and wiser. He could see right through her. He rolled his eyes and spoke.
"He didn't show up huh?"

"UHH! No Master, he didn't." Rin replied, defeated. She knew she could never hide anything from her Sensai.

"I see, give me ten minutes to get dressed and to grab the equipment..." Kohaku said, entering the house.

"Yes Master." Rin said bowing.

8:30 AM

Rin and Kohaku began the training... As they spared, Kohaku could see that Rin was very upset. "Rin I'm sure he has his reasons." He said, trying to encourage her.

"Yeah! I am sure he does!" Rin shouted, round house kicking her Master. Kohaku tripped from the surprise blow and landed on the ground! "Wah!" Thud, Kohaku landed on his butt. She was getting better by the day, Kohaku thought, rubbing his back side in agony.

"Oh, sorry Master." Rin said, covering her mouth in worry.

"No its ok, you're getting better." Kohaku said, chuckling while getting to his feet.

"Oh, you think so Master?" Rin asked.

"Of course! I think you are ready for Lesson Two." Kohaku said, tying his shoe that had come un done. (Demon slayers have special shoes that actually tie like a regular sneaker)

"Okay!" Rin said, as she couldn't wait for part two of her training.

Meanwhile, back at the village….

"Where is Rin?" Sesshomaru asked Sango. "Oh she is down by the lake training with Kohaku, as usual." Sango replied. 'Great' Sango thought. 'The demon jerk is here.' Sango thought again, as she had no idea what Rin saw in him. "Fine then." Sesshomaru said, as he headed down towards the forest in which the lake was. Sango rolled her eyes. 'Rude as ever' She thought again….

The Lake….

He hid in a tree and observed her training. 'What are they doing on a boat?' Sesshomaru thought, watching them floating in the middle of the lake.

"Ok Rin, lesson two is balance. If you want to hold a weapon swiftly and correctly, you need good balance and posture." Kohaku said, as she stopped paddling, finding that they were far out enough.

"Really? Can a weapon be that heavy?" Rin asked.

"Sure it can, with not strength or balance you will never be able to hold your weapon, especially the one I am having made by Totosai." Kohaku said smiling.

"Wow! My very own weapon?!" Rin exclaimed.

"Yes, but you must learn balance and strength to wield it." Kohaku said sternly.

"Ok, I am ready!" Rin replied, excited to see what great training her Sensai had in store for her.

"Alright then, stand on the bow."
Kohaku said, patting the skimpy bow of the row boat.

Rin blinked in disbelief and spoke.
"Uhh, are you sure Master Kohaku? It looks awfully dangerous."

"Does it look dangerous to a Demon Slayer?" Kohaku asked, glaring at her in a way of sorts.
"Uhh, no Master! It does not!" Rin said, getting to her feet.

"All right then, proceed on to the bow Rin."
Rin nodded to her Master's Demand and stood on the bow and did many positions of moves in Karate. Kohaku then smirked and rocked the boat slightly.

"Wah! Master Kohaku!" Rin said with a glare.

"Balance Rin, even with oncoming distractions." Kohaku said, trying to sound serious. However, a few giggles leaked out.

"Master!" She said, scolding him for laughing at her.

"Ah, what did I tell you?" Kohaku asked, crossing his arms.

"Balance is key, even with oncoming distractions." Rin said sarcastically.

"Good, now keep at it." Kohaku said, smirking again.
Kohaku then rocked the boat again, causing Rin to almost fall, but she kept her balance, still doing martial arts moves. One last rock tipped her over into the water "Wah, ahhhhh!" Spoooloosh! Rin was all wet. "Master Kohaku!" Rin shouted, as she was furious. Kohaku burst out laughing and spoke while clutching his gut.

"Ha-ha, looks like your sleeping with the fishes!"

"Why you!" Rin had it, as she tipped the boat over, having Kohaku land in the water with her!

"Wah!" In Kohaku went, getting oncoming splashes from his pupil.

"Ha! Don't ever mess with me again Master!" Rin exclaimed, pelting her Master with splashes. Kohaku splashed Rin back! The two then wrestled in the water, laughing and playing.

"Ha I got you now!" Kohaku said, grabbing her by the waist.

"Ahhhhh! Master Kohaku this isn't funny anymore put me down!" Rin demanded
"If you insist."

Kohaku said with a smirk, as he dropped Rin in the water. She bubbled up and finally pinned him down with her new strength on shore! "Ha, I beat you!" Rin shouted in victory.

"Whoa! You are improving!" Kohaku said, as Rin was indeed getting stronger.

"I know, I'm the greatest." Rin said, bragging.

"Don't get so cocky, it will go to your head." Kohaku replied, poking Rins fore head.

"Oww!" Rin said, rubbing her forehead. Kohaku shivered and spoke.
"We better get back, I'm freezing!"
"Burr me too!" Rin said agreeing.

The twosome headed back to Sango and Miroku's house to get warm. Sesshomaru sighed and left the area. What Rin didn't know, was that Sesshomaru wouldn't come back until Rins 18th birthday. He was to heart broken seeing her happy with Kohaku.
