Rayne's Point of View
The three of us had continued to look at each other in utter shock as to what we had just heard. They where going to blow up the entire War Council that was horrible there wasn't just leaders there, innocent people where there too. My father, Octavia, Indra they where all there we needed to get them out of there.
"Please tell me you all heard that." Bellamy asked us his breathing now labored.
"Yep, loud and clear." I told him as I looked over at Clarke.
"We have to warn them…" Raven began to say. "Did my dad take a radio with him?" I asked Raven as she now turned to face me.
"No." Raven said at first "This is the only unjammed frequency. Even if he had one it wouldn't work and we need to keep it open for Bellamy." She explained.
"Yea keep it open." I quickly responded.
"If I leave now, I can make it there in time." Clarke said, "I'll go with you." I told her.
"No! If I go and make it there in time for the bomb to go off our people are going to need a leader, they will need you." Clarke went off on me.
Clarke turned and looked over at Raven, "When I get back, I want to know our friends are safe and the acid fog is down. Can you handle that?" She asked her.
"Yea, Rayne and I can handle it here. Go." Raven told her as I turned to look at Raven not sure why she was agreeing with Clarke.
"Clarke, wait." We heard Bellamy say as his voice slightly broke. "Octavia was in Tondc when I left."
I looked over at Clarke, as she walked over taking the radio from me. "is—is she, um..." He had trouble saying. "She's here. She's safe." She told him quickly as Raven looked over at me confused.
"Is Rayne going with you to Tondc?" He asked her.
"No, she's staying here with Octavia." She told him. "Good." He said his voice growing dark. He was warning her to keep Octavia and I safe, not asking her.
"Octavia's in Tondc for the meeting in my place with Indra." I reminded Clarke.
"What would lying to Bellamy prove?" Raven added in.
"Bellamy is distracted enough with Rayne, he doesn't need a bigger one with Octavia too. Him being anymore distracted helps no one."
"Clarke." I said taking her by the wrist pulling her back towards me engulfing her into a hug only for Raven to wrap her arms around the two of us. "Come back Clarke." I said softly into her shoulder.
"Yea, don't get blown up." Raven told her once we had broken our hug.
Once Clarke was gone Raven looked at me, "You are going to go save Octavia and your dad aren't you?" She asked me.
"What do you mean?" I questioned.
"You know Clarke is only going to go save the Commander right, calling off the entire meeting shows them our cards, it shows them we have someone inside… Rayne she's going to let them die." She told me as I looked at her feeling the sinking feeling in my gut.
"Tell Bellamy where Octavia and I are when the time is right… I have to go get my father, Octavia, Indra and Nyko." I told her as she arched her brow.
"Why the two grounders?"
"Because it's what I have to do." I told her as I rushed out of the ship taking my weapons with me making my way towards one of the horses the Commander had lent me.
There was no way I was going to let my people die just so Clarke could keep this truce going. This truce was in no way shape or form worth their lives. Not to me anyway. Once on the horse I made my way as fast as the horse would take me towards the Tondc, who knew how many hours I had to get there but as long as I made it there before that missile landed was all I cared for.
Bellamy's Point of View
I had finally taken my opportunity to go talk to the others when I had heard the guards where going to be going in to grab another kid. Putting on the riot gear they had I picked up a weapon, which one of the guards had informed me, was empty with no ammo and used to scare not harm. I stood near the door waiting for it to open, once all the guards had began to enter the room I made my way directly to Jasper.
"Get back! I said get back." One of the guards started to yell at them causing all the kids to move back to the far end of the room in fear.
They had all linked arms trying to form I guess a phalanx when the doctor had entered the room walking right up to one of the girls alerting the guards she was the next they where taking with them. "This one." She said before walking back out.
"All right. Let's go." One of the guards shouted out.
"Everybody now!" Monty yelled as one of the guards kneed Monty in the gut as they began to attack the kids to get the one girl. "Clear the way!" The guards yelled as I looked for an opening to grab Jasper.
I noticed the girl grab onto one of the bunks holding on with all her might trying not to let them take her, which also when I noticed Jasper was standing fairly close by to me and open for me to grab. Once he had noticed me move closer to him he went to hit me when I pulled his arm around his back and pushed him up against the wall.
"Let go of me!" He yelled to me.
"Are you trying to get yourself killed?" I harshly whispered into his ear.
"Bellamy?" He questioned in disbelief.
Harshly twisting his arm pushing him harder against the wall to keep up with the appearance I was a guard. "Just shut up and listen." I told him. "They're killing them. Next time they come, you have to fight back harder than this, do you understand?" I asked him as I pulled the gun I had stolen and shoved it into his hand. "Here. Take this."
"Get everyone ready." I told him. "Ready for what? What's the plan?" He asked me.
"Rayne, Raven and I are working on it." I told him. "Ray's still alive?" He said I had known they liked Rayne she was always so kind to everyone. Her and Clarke always made it a point to form friendships with them all. Had they all really given up hope that we were all alive and coming for them?
"Fine Dante. He's on our side. He'll help us." He told me. "Ok." I said quickly.
"Hey! Everything ok over there?" One of the guards called to me. "Yes, Sir." I responded to him as I took Jasper by the back of the neck leading him away from the wall. I punched him in the gut so that he was on the ground. I quickly moved back into formation with the other guards as we all backed out of the room.
Once I had left I made my way down towards the contamination zone where they had said they where holding Dante Wallace, the old President. The one that was supposed to let them out of here, apparently when he was arresting the crazy Doctor and his son, they turned on him and locked him up.
Opening the door, standing in the doorway, I noticed a man standing there facing a wall that had a painting on it. He looked like the life had been sucked right out of him, like there was nothing left in him. Looking right at him so that he could get a good look at my face I addressed him.
"Your evening meal, President Wallace." I told him as he stared at me trying to figure out who I was, once he had realized he had no idea who I was he moved towards me turning up the radio that had been sitting next to me. My hand hovering over the gun the entire time he was moving towards me.
When I realized he was doing it to cover our conversation I walked towards the small table to place the food down. "Who are you?" His shaky voice had asked me as I could feel him standing their watching me.
"Jasper sent me." I told him keeping my head down as I placed all the food on the table in front of me neatly. "We need your help."
"Your son is killing my friends." I told him placing the small salad down along with the napkin.
"I'm a prisoner, same as them." He told me, "A prisoner who knows every inch of this Mountain, every security measure." I explained as I moved towards the dishes from his other meal putting them down on the tray I had brought in.
He moved closer to me watching closely, "Who's helping you?" He asked me.
"That's not important right now." I told him.
"Well we didn't get Rayne, is she helping you?" He asked me causing me to feel a ping of anger in my stomach. "What?" I asked
"She looked so much like the Commander they had when I was a boy, so much like my wife when she was that age… " He told me sadly.
"She isn't but she is safe, for now." I told him, "Well after Clarke and Nova had escaped, I had all exits fortified and put under extra surveillance." He explained, "My son has no doubt changed all access and entrance codes by now. Your friends will never even make it off of level 5."
"I won't let them die here." I seethed, "I'm sorry. I can't help them escape." He said as I tossed everything onto the tray angrily making my way towards the door.
"But." He said catching my attention. "I may be able to buy them some time." He told me.
Rayne's Point of View
Once I had entered Tondc I noticed Octavia and my father standing off to the side along with Indra and a few other grounders I had grown close to. Quickly making my way towards them I noticed many grounders looking at me and mumbling to each other. I had only caught them saying something about the old dead Commander once or twice before I had reached them.
"Why are you here?" Octavia asked me, "Clarke said you where staying back at the camp to help Bellamy and Raven."
Looking around I looked at Octavia and Indra ushering them to follow me away from my father and the other grounders. Indra looking at me suspiciously, "They are aiming a missile towards this meeting, we need to get as many people out of here with as little notice to anyone watching as possible." I told them as Octavia jumped back.
"What? Does Clarke know?" She asked me as all I could do was nod, "Octavia, I need to get my father out of here now." I told her.
"How we would have no way of telling what this guys angle is." She told me as I heard Indra take a deep breath.
"I will show you a route we can have him an a few others take, they will go unnoticed." She started, "However I don't know if it will get them out of the radius."
"If we alert to many they will know Bellamy is in there and the Fog will never be removed, and either of our people will never get out." I told them as Indra agreed.
"Than we move Nyko and the two other healers out of the village through the tunnels, we will have them take your father with them." She told me as I nodded. "However if they don't see you me or Octavia till dark they will know we left. Play your roles till we can use the cover of night to leave the camp." She informed us both.
"If we wait too long Indra, we might not make it out before the explosion." I told her as she nodded, "The healers are a priority… we will take your father the moment we have the cover of darkness… he has seemed to make it known he is here." She pointed out as we heard my father trying to learn the grounder language a few feet from us.
"Great." Octavia said.
"We'll figure it out when night falls. Tell Nyko to take the other healers and head to the Sky People's camp for protection… make sure they do not spread word of what is going on…" I told Indra as she made her way towards Nyko.
"She didn't tell Bells I was here did she?" She asked me.
"No, she didn't and by the looks of it she only came here to save the Commander. Everyone else is collateral damage for the revenge mission they will take the armies on tomorrow morning. There will be no mourning of the dead, tomorrow we will be going to war." I told Octavia before walking away from her and towards Indra.
"There's still so much you have to learn from me." She told me as I stood next to her. "Still so much I want to learn from you." I responded to her.
"A great leader would have done what Clarke did." She told me.
"No a selfish leader would have done what Clarke did. Her and the commander cannot rule over the 12 clans alone. Indra that's why each clan has a leader and a second." I said, "You told me that. Letting them die rather than having the leaders leave with them and leaving all the seconds and small guard die instead is what a great leader would do."
She smirked, "What's more important, you told me the leaders of the tribes where the most important. So why would she let you all die when you could easily have the 12 of you escape with them… this was selfishness so that even after the war… the 12 clans will have to do whatever they are told with zero input from their leaders." I said.
"Clarke knows that." I added as we looked around us. "You are wise, and at least you listen. Octavia is far to concerned for Lincoln, I trust you are holding yourself strong when it comes to Bellamy?"
"If I show him how worried I am, he'll fail his tasks. If he sees how strong and how much confidence I have in him the chance of his success rate only grows." I told her as she smiled, "If only Nova hadn't run off on a fools errand." Indra snapped walking away from me leaving me there with my father.
I could feel his eyes on me, watching me almost like he was exanimating me. I don't know why I was always jumping to make sure he was safe, I didn't even know we were related till he had told me when I got down here. I had thought my entire life that my parents where Harry and Fiona Locke. Who would have known my mother had an affair with Marcus Kane.
Marcus Kane was the man my mom chose to revoke any vow she had made to my 'dad'. She had never told me who my father was. Marcus knew, he knew he was my father and even after both my parents where floated the man never once came to my rescue. I was just something he didn't need to deal with, till he realized I actually made something of myself.
Yet now it was like none of that mattered to me, like coming down here and knowing I was facing all these odds of survival that made all the negativity from up in the Ark so… so trivial. Family became important to me, and knowing who my family was almost seemed like it was that much more important. It's why every moment with Bellamy and Octavia a cherished. Why I treated Indra like she was my mother, she acted like she was mine, she treated me like her daughter not her second. She treated Octavia like her second.
"You've grown up so much since you came down here." He finally said to me.
"I had to grow up dad, only the strong survive out here." I told him.
"Survival of the fittest seems to be the way things work out here." He told me as I looked over at him.
"Not just in body, you have to be strong in your mind too, this is a game of wits just as much as it is a game of strength." I told him as I smiled up at him.
"Octavia was telling me how you and Bellamy where going to make things more official once he gets out of the Mountain, am I the last to figure this out?" He asked me.
"Apparently not since you just told me." I half lied.
Octavia had mentioned to me many times how she had thought both Bellamy and I should make our love official, not that there was a way of going about marriage down here like there was on the Ark. However she wanted me to have her last name, make us sisters not just in friendship but also in name. I loved her for that, however I was so afraid of the unknown that I wasn't even sure what would happen when he got back down here and saw what I had become.
"I'm sure things will work out, kills a father to say this but he does make you happy, and he has made you strong." He told me, "I at least approve and agree with her."
"That's all dependent on him liking what this place has made me since he's been gone." I confessed as I moved to sit down near the pit that they where building a fire near.
"What a strong fearless leader with heart and compassion? He would need to be crazy to not love you for what you've become. Indra has made you strong, you and Octavia… you two needed to realize the potential and strength you both had without your men." He told me.
"Guess this is why you're the father and I'm the daughter?" I chuckled, "This advice stuff?"
"At least you still let me give you advice, I just wish there was something I could do to help Abby with Clarke." He told me.
"Abby needs to let Clarke make these choices on her own, she needs to let her make mistakes and trust her enough to know that she is doing what needs to be done. Clarke has so many of us looking out for her that Abby needs to realize she isn't alone. She won't fail. She needs to trust Clarke." I told him fully aware that Clarke and Lexa had probably already left Tondc to make their way back to the Ark Camp.
Lying to him, about this whole thing didn't make me feel better at all. I knew if I told him what was going on that he would not agree to leaving so many people behind however he could very well surprise me. "Hey dad…" I said to him quietly.
"Yes?" He asked me.
"If you where faced with knowing something horrible was going to happen… and knew that telling everyone would foil the over all task at hand… would you save those you can or everyone?" I asked him.
"What's about to happen?" He asked me. "Nothing it was a hypothetical." I said quickly.
"Rayne?" He warned.
Looking down at my feet, "Bellamy found out that Mount Weather is going to blow up Tondc with a missile. If we evacuate they will know we have someone inside and look for him. Thus killing him, the chance of saving the others, who are in a lot of trouble. Kill the caged grounders and the fog will never be turned off." I told him. "We'd be able to get the healers and a few leaders out of here without incident but that's it… I don't know what to do." I told him.
"What's wrong with the kids Clarke said they where fine." He said slowly.
"They are taking bone marrow from them, enough so that the fatality rate is 100%... dad what do we do…" I asked.
"Exactly what you said, take the healers, and a few leaders and leave… if I have to stay to save face that you are still here… that is a sacrifice I am willing to make to keep you alive." He told me.
"Not one I am willing to make dad… I have twenty-two years of a father daughter relationship to catch up on that I don't want to miss out… Indra, Octavia and I are leaving as late as we can to avoid the blast… come with us." I begged him.
"I will do my best." He told me as he gave me a hug from the side. "You're stronger than you think you are." He told me. "I just wish Clarke had done the same thing… Clarke needed to get the Commander out of her as fast as she could… don't be upset with her." I asked him.
"Not upset with her, just disappointed." He told me as I nodded. "Yea…" I told him softly knowing she was fully going to allow the healers, Indra, Octavia and my father to die had I not followed her. I was disappointed in her too.
