Chapter 5
Rins new weapon! Sangotsu!
"Well Rin, you have improved." Kohaku said in a proud manor.
"You brought me to the edge of the village just to tell me that? Master, I'm confused." Rin said in a puzzled manor
"No, I have a surprise for you." Kohaku said, smiling warmly.
"A surprise?" Rin replied, scratching her scalp in suspense with the clip Kaede gave her.
"What is it?" She added.
"Your martial arts skills have improved, and you are almost as fast as my sister is. You are ready for your weapon." Kohaku replied.
"Really Master? You truly think I am ready?!" Rin asked in happiness.
"Of course, if you were not ready I wouldn't do this, would I?" Kohaku asked sternly.
"No, of course not Master Kohaku." Rin said, saluting her Master.
"Right then, Totosai should be here any minute." Kohaku said." Let's wait for him." Kohaku added.
"Okay." Rin said nodding.
The pupil and teacher sat under a willow tree. It was quiet. Rin let out a sigh then spoke, breaking the silence. "I wonder when Lord Sesshomaru will return."
"He enjoys you Rin, I am sure he will return." Kohaku said reassuringly.
"I know but…." Rin started, but stopped…
"But what?"
Kohaku asked in a worried manor.
"Well, what if Lord Sesshomaru does not return? I can't wait forever." Rin said, sighing in sadness.
"Rin, what ever happened to your loyal ways to Sesshomaru? Did you not say you wanted to marry him and bare his children?" Kohaku asked.
"Yes, but he hasn't visited me since I started my training. Perhaps he is troubled by me spending so much time with you." Rin said, looking over at her Master.
"Why would he be?" Kohaku asked, leaning back more against the tree.
"Well we are so close in age, and I am a girl and you are a boy." "What's your point?" Kohaku asked again.
"What if he is jealous that you get to spend time with me, and he does not?" Rin replied, referring to Romantic Relations.
"Ha, rest assured as beautiful as you are, I found someone." Kohaku said, laughing sweetly like his usual self.
"You said if something were to come up I should call on you. Not that I would be interested, but I am curious as to why not."
"That was before I met Aya-me."
"Who is she?" Rin asked.
"I met her in the village 3 days ago when you were training with Inuyasha and Tuskinu. After slaying the lizard demon that in habited her village and possessed her father, she let me stay in her castle and tended to my wounds and hunger as my reward." Kohaku stated, smirking in satisfaction.
"What happened after that?"
Rin asked. Kohaku chuckled and replied, blushing a bit.
"Well as you can guess we spent some time together, with her father's permission, I am now courting her."
"Wow that means, if her father likes you, you will marry her right?" Rin asked, excited and happy for her Sensai and Friend.
"If all goes well, yes." Kohaku said agreeing.
"WOW! Wait, does Lady Sango know about this?" Rin asked.
"Oh, I haven't gotten around to telling her yet…" Kohaku said, blushing more.
"Kohaku, she is your sister you know." Rin said, as if she was scolding him.
"Yes I know, I just never get her alone with my nieces and nephews running around and all." Kohaku said, sighing.
"Well you better tell her soon." Rin said.
"Uhh, right." Kohaku agreed, rolling his eyes, as he wasn't going to tell her ANY time soon.
"KOHAKU!"
"Oh, Totosai! It's you!" Kohaku said, rising to his feet.
"Sorry I am running late for something, I can't stay for too long, here is the weapon you requested, Sangotsu!"
The weapon propelled itself toward Rin, for some crazy instinct reason, Rin caught it." "Wow! How wonderful!" Rin said, holding it tight in her grasp.
"I have lavished it with your sent maiden, it responds only to you now. Love it and take care of it! Farewell!"
With that said, Totosai took off in a flash, leaving Rin behind hugging her new weapon. The weapon itself was 10 times the size Rin was. It had long chains followed by a red wooden blade, with pink roses and petals attached to the handle. It was beautiful beyond compare, Rin had bonded with it already!
"So why did you call it Sangotsu?" Rin asked, swinging the chain out of amusement.
"I named it after my sister because you are strong like her, so you deserve to carry her great name on your shoulders." Kohaku replied.
"Wow Master Kohaku, I am touched." Rin said with a sincere smile.
"Why don't you carry it around today? Get use to the feel of it." Kohaku replied with a grin.
"Ok!" Rin said with excitement. She then lugged Sangotsu over her back and carried it around with her all day.
Nightfall…
"Wah!" Tuskinu woke up in sweat! She was scared from nightmares and visions. At just 6, she was already gaining powers from her parents, including her mother's spiritual powers. Her gift, was seeing visions in her dreams. Her parents were well aware of them and aided her when she had these nightmares. Despite having her father's stubbornness to ask for help, she was really scared this time. The main room seemed so far away, despite her small room and how close she was to the door. She reached for the divider that acted like a door, but she couldn't. She fell to her knees and started to cry.
"Momma, Father… Wah!"
As Tuskinu cried out, Inuyasha's ears twitched at the sound of her cries. He let his wife down easy on the futon and out of his arms as he went to his daughter's aid. "Jeez hun, you'll wake up the entire neighbourhood." Inuyasha said, smiling down at her.
"Papa! I had another nightmare." She said, trembling with fear.
"I see, come here." Inuyasha said.
He cradled his little girl in his arms. She whimpered and clutched on to her dads Kimono. He kissed her forehead and held her tight. "Feeling any better?" the half demon asked.
"Yeah, can I sleep with you and Mama? I don't want to sleep alone." Tuskinu asked, not wanting to return to her room.
"Sure, let's go." Inuyasha said. As Inuyasha carried Tuskinu over to their futon, Kagome woke up.
"Inuyasha, where did you go?" Kagome asked with one eye open due to being half asleep.
"Tuskinu had another nightmare. She wants to snuggle up with us." Inuyasha replied, laying Tuskinu down.
"Can I Mamma?" Tuskinu asked.
"You don't need to ask, come here." Kagome said lovingly, as she rolled on her side and snuggled Tuskinu. Inuyasha pulled the blankets over and snuggled up with his wife and daughter. As Tuskinu drifted off, she murmured something in her sleep. "Never leave momma, cause momma loves you father." The child then passed out, twitching her dog ears she inherited from her dad. Inuyasha smiled and looked at Kagome. "Never, I will stay with her forever." he said, receiving a smile back from Kagome. They all slept through the night in peace and comfort.
2 years later..
North Region Territory,
One day away from Kaede's village….
"Ahhhhh put me down!" "Muhahaha! Such beauty! I will devour you with great honour!"
A demon was harassing a small village, it was always this way, nothing new to Kohaku. He was 21 now and Rin was 18. She had become great and her reputation had spread throughout the region. It even reached as far as Sesshomaru where he was hiding out, in the mountains of Oakton.
Kohaku thought this would be good practice for her, seeing as the little town was always infested. "Let her go!" His pupil demanded, threatening the demon with her Sangotsu to put down the village woman.
"Oohh you are ravishing as well, I shall devour you too!" The demon came at Rin, still clutching the human girl. Rin took hold off her chain and propelled her weapon at the demon!
"Sangotsu!"
She annihilated the ugly thing, ripping it to shreds! "AHHHHH CURSE YOU!" It howled, vanishing into dust. Kohaku then saved the human girl.
Later…
"Thank you again Kohaku!" said the villagers.
"No worries, now paste those sutras on your houses. They came from my brother in law, they shall protect you well!"
"We will." "Thanks again!" said the villagers once more, before Kohaku and Rin vanished beyond the woods.
About an hour later, two twoesome were an hour away from the village they had just left. Rin sighed in boredom and spoke.
"My, it seems these demons lately are too weak for me."
"Ha, don't get ahead of yourself Rin, you still have a long way to go." Kohaku replied, rolling his eyes at her.
"I know, but still." Rin began, before her Master proceeded talking.
"Rest yourself Rin, we need to take a break. We have been away from the village for at least a month now, we need to recuperate."
"I know, I just need a challenge once and awhile." Rin replied, cracking her back.
"One day that will come, will you be ready?" Kohaku asked, as they crossed a small bridge.
"Of course!" Rin belted in triumph
"Ha-ha, you're so sure of yourself hmm?" Kohaku asked once more with a chuckle.
"Yes, you have taught me well Master." Rin saidm sucking up tho Kohaku a little. The demon slayer simply smiled as he replied "It would seem that way."
O
ne day passed. As Rin and her Master Kohaku approached the village in the early morning, Rin felt a familiar presence towards the lake. "Master Kohaku, I have to go to the lake." Rin said, without even a second glance.
"I understand." Kohaku agreed. He knew the presence as well.
Rin nodded and ran through Inuyasha's forest, passed the tree where he was sealed long ago and approached the lake. The water flowed swiftly and quietly. The water fall was loud, yet peaceful. She knew Lord Sesshomaru was there, she could sense him in the trees. The demon slayer in training chuckled and put down Sangotsu. She removed her sandals and put down her bag. She put her rather petit feet in the lake water. After a few minutes, Rin spoke.
"Ah, the water is warm today. Don't you agree- Lord Sesshomaru?"
The dog demon smirked and came out from the shadows.
"I guess there is no use in fooling you anymore, is there Rin?"
Rin smiled at her "fiancée" and replied "No my lord, there isn't."
