Bellamy's Point of View
"Clarke, if we do this, there is no going back." I told her again as I watched Rayne take Clarke's hand. I knew what she was watching wasn't easy.
Seeing Raven on there only made me imagine Octavia or Rayne being up on that table. Her mother actually being on that table… I couldn't even fathom what it was she was going through. However was it really enough to cause her to kill the entire population of this mountain? All those people, and the children. The entire idea only made me remember the incident in the village with Finn.
I watched as Clarke nodded to Monty. "Figure it out." She told him, as her voice grew cold. "Clarke are you sure?" Rayne asked her.
"What if that was Marcus or Bellamy?" Clarke asked her, "Or one of your parents?" She looked to Monty. "What if that was Octavia, or Rayne… on that table what would you do?" She asked us.
"Irradiate, the level." Rayne said with no pause or hesitation.
"Same." Monty sighed.
"Well?" She asked looking towards me, forcing me to lower my head, she already knew my answer. Anything that would endanger the lives of any of my girls, she knew I would do just about anything to keep them alive. Even this.
I stood there staring at the screens as Rayne sat down next to me in one of the seats as Clarke was pacing around the room. I happened to look up in time to watch as a pair of young people ran down the one hallway, "No." Was the only word I had managed to say as Rayne stood up next to me.
"Isn't that where Octavia, Maya and Jasper said they where hiding?" She asked as I nodded. "Clarke what are we going to do?" She called out to her.
I watched as Octavia ran down the hallway towards two of the guards throwing her sword nailing the one guard in the center of his chest as she continued to run at the other guard. "What is she doing?" Rayne shouted angrily at the screen.
She was probably more angry that Octavia was running into danger, she was just as attached to her and her safety as I was. Which was just another reason I loved her so much. Since the moment we landed on the ground Rayne had always been there looking out for her. It never mattered with what Rayne always had Octavia's back.
I watched as my sister mercilessly killed the two guards and looked back at Maya as she stood there in shock, the same shock we where all standing here with. I hadn't expected Octavia to do anything like that, I never thought she could do anything like that.
"Indra taught you both well." Clarke commented. Indra was training Rayne and Octavia? When were they going to tell me about that, "That… was all Nova's teaching not Indra." Rayne replied.
"What do you mean?" Clarke commented.
"Nova, told Octavia that since she is small and agile she would be best suited using tricks and stealth… she showed her how to use her speed and tiny frame to take down multiple enemies when she's against two or more people." Rayne continued. "Injure two kill one, injure one… kill two." She said, as her voice grew cold.
I stood there watching as Maya and Octavia ran for their lives; "They have to get out of there." I commented as Rayne moved closer to me wrapping her arm around my waist. "Octavia will keep them safe." She reassured me.
I watched as Monty finished typing on his computer looking up at Clarke nodding to her to confirm everything was ready. She was about to say something when we all heard a pounding on the door causing me to pull Rayne in my arms. "He's here." Clarke commented.
"Jasper. They caught him." Monty said as I looked back at him as Rayne pulled on my arm pointing at one of the monitors. "Did they catch him or did he give himself up." She asked.
"He would never give himself up intentionally, would he?" Monty questioned.
"He would for Maya and Octavia… they must have planned something." Rayne explained, "They had to have there is no other reason."
We all watching in horror as Octavia and Maya seemed to get cornered inside the mess hall. Rayne was right they had to have planned something there is no way they would do this without something in mind. Octavia was way to clever to just walk into a situation without her mind armed.
"Why are you stopping?" I heard Clarke ask Monty from behind me, not taking my eyes off the screen, feeling Rayne's hand tighten its grip on my own.
"Because I did it." Monty stated as I looked over at Ray who was already looking back at Monty. "Did the irradiation?" She asked him.
"Yep, all we have to do… is pull this." Monty explained as Ray moved away from the lever and closer to me wrapping both her arms around my waist. She like me didn't want to harm any of the people down there that helped our people, or the children. Knowing we had our own child on the way made it so much harder for me to want to allow those children to die.
"Hatches and vents will open, and the scrubbers reverse, pulling in outside air." Monty explained as I pushed Rayne behind me as I had noticed on the monitor outside the door, Emerson was up to something. "He's going to blow the door." I alerted the room.
"Clarke, we're out of time." Monty explained to her as she stood there contemplating something we all knew, what the choice was she had made. She was going to flush out and kill everyone in this mountain, she knew she was going to do it, just like Monty, Rayne and I knew she would.
I looked over at the screen and watched as they pushed Maya and Octavia to the ground. "Bellamy…" I heard Rayne's softly whisper my voice. "We have to do this… for Octavia." She told me, "I refuse to let our baby grow up not having her in it's life." She said looking up at me.
"My sister. My responsibility." I muttered to myself.
"No." I heard Rayne said as she placed her hand on my arm. "Our responsibility." She corrected me causing me to grin at her, we both turned our attention to Clarke who's hand was firmly on the lever.
"I have to save them." Clarke commented to us. "We're here for you." Rayne told her as she walked over to Clarke placing her hand on top of Clarke's hand that was holding the lever, looking at both the girls as they stood there not moving I put my hand over top of Rayne's causing the two of them to look up at me. "We're in this together, we led these kids when we got down here… it's up to the three of us to get them to safety." I told them both.
"Together." Clarke commented.
I felt myself being the one that actually moved the lever down reversing the fans. Even though both girls seemed to want to be the ones who took the responsibility for the entire action. "Maya…" I heard Rayne say as she turned her attention to the monitor with Jasper on it.
"He'll forgive us…" I whispered to her.
"No… he won't." Clarke commented. I watched Rayne as she stared up at the monitor that was facing the mess hall. Every single person who hadn't gotten a bone marrow transplant was dead, in a matter of seconds they had all died. She seemed to be more upset than I had thought she would be. "All those children, the babies." She whispered placing her hands on her stomach.
"Maybe something's wrong with me…" She mumbled as I moved towards her. "What do you mean?" I asked her.
"I'm not fat yet." She commented causing me to laugh softly, "You'll get there." I reassured her as we looked back up at the camera.
"Let's go get out people." Clarke said as she wiped the tears from her face.
Rayne's Point of View
We had made it to level five, entering the mess hall looking over at all the bodies in the room. People were sitting at the tables their skin deteriorating, the flesh already starting to smell. Looking closer I could tell the scabs that where forming on their skin were starting to dry up and were peeling off.
"Bell's…" I whispered to him as I took his hand in mine, I had noticed a child's hand sticking out from underneath an adult's body. He wrapped himself around me shielding my face from the scene before me. "Try not to think about it babe… try." He whispered to me, even though I knew in my heart he was just as gutted and heart broken as I was at this scene.
The amount of lives lost was unbelievable, there had to have been another way around this. Donating our bone marrow, donating blood, resources… working together. Why did Cage have to be so stupid, so thick headed. There was no need for all these innocent people to die like this. This had to have been the worst way to go, feeling yourself die by simply breathing in the air. Terrible.
I could hear someone sobbing near by; I recognized that sobs they where the same ones I had heard back in the drop ship camp. "Jasper." I whispered as I tore myself from Bellamy's arms and began to walk around the mess towards the boy. He was on his knees on the floor holding Maya in his arms.
Her skin was a dark red, she had the same scabs and skin lesions all over her face and arms like the rest of the Mountain people did. The moment Clarke, Bellamy and Monty rounded the corner Jasper's head rose up looking at the four of us standing there. If looks could kill, we would be on the ground dead along with all these people. Clarke was right; he wouldn't ever forgive us for this.
"What did you do?" He asked us.
"We had no choice." Clarke told him sternly.
"I was gonna kill Cage." He wept. "If you'd just given me one more minute, it would've been over." He yelled at us.
"Jasper, they never would've stopped." Bellamy attempted to explain to him. "We have to go to the dorm." Clarke interrupted before she had started to walk off towards where our people where being kept.
"You didn't try to stop them?" Jasper asked me.
I looked to my feet before I looked directly at him, "Knowing what they where going to do to all our people, I chose my child's life and Octavia's life over theirs… I wouldn't have stopped them. Had I realized Maya didn't have the transplant maybe I would have but Jasper they pushed us into a corner we had no other options." I explained to him before following Clarke towards our people.
Once we entered the room Clarke bolted towards her mother as quickly as she could. I followed her, I needed to know and make sure that Marcus was safe and fine too. "Abby, Kane…" I spoke once I had reached them and Clarke had started to hold her mother tightly in her arms.
"Rayne…" Marcus had said as he pulled me closer to him in a hug. "You're safe." He said as he stroked my hair.
"I have Bellamy to thank for this." He said softly into my ear. "You have Bellamy to thank for a lot of great things, Dad." I told him as we pulled from our hug only to notice Bellamy was standing behind me.
Marcus placed his hand on his shoulder, "Thank you, for keeping her safe no matter the cost. I really did underestimate you Bellamy… I apologize for that."
"Sir. You don't need to apologize, half the time it was her who was keeping me alive."
"Dad, we have news for you… if everyone else didn't already tell you." I told him with a smile.
"Should I be sitting down?" He questioned.
"We're having a baby… a girl." I told him as I looked to Marcus who simply looked as if he couldn't contain the joy in his face as he pulled the two of us closer to him. "This is amazing news." He said as he hugged us both.
"I'm going to be a grandfather…" He started repeating to himself. "You did good." Marcus said to Bellamy as he held me in his arms again almost as if he still didn't believe that I was safe, or that I had just told him about the baby.
"Now let's get these people home." He told Bellamy again as he stopped hugging me and started to walk away to get everyone ready to move as I looked over at Bellamy. "We did it…" I told him, "We got our friends back…" I smiled as he kissed my forehead.
"Where's Cage?" Octavia rushed towards us stopping the three of us in our tracks.
We had all finally made it back to camp Jaha, this being the first time any of the kids that where trapped in the Mountain where seeing this place. Most of them where about to be reunited with their parents, and many where about to be told their families didn't survive the drop down from space.
Clarke had been walking along side Bellamy and I silently the entire walk back. Just listening to the two of us talk about what to name the baby now that we had no other distractions, and knew the gender. Something we would have never found out had the Mountain men Doctors not told me.
Abby and Raven needed medical attention considering the fact they had both been drilled into for bone marrow and would likely be in the medical tent for a few weeks healing. I just hoped the grounders didn't see us as a threat anymore and stayed away. We wouldn't make it against them in a war, even with all the weapons and supplies we where bringing back with us from the mountain.
Someone had suggested us all moving in there and just keeping the door open. Abby and Marcus agreed there was far too much morbidly in doing that. Not to mention the nightmares the kids would have, if they where told they had to stay there. I knew I should probably make the suggestion to head towards Luna's clan. They would likely take our people in without hesitation, but for now I just wanted to focus on this baby and Bellamy.
I finally had him to myself and didn't have to worry about tomorrow, or fear the threat of death every second of the day and this was something I hadn't thought would be possible. I looked over at Clarke who seemed so consumed by thoughts that it had started to scare me. "You alright over there?" I asked her as she just nodded mindlessly.
Lincoln had found us in the dead of night and helped us all navigate through the forest. He had told us he killed Cage in the forest somewhere, and that Indra had sent him to kill him. It was more than obvious he had no intentions of going back to his people, we where his people now. He was up ahead walking along side Octavia as the two of them had just entered the camp.
Bellamy and I had finally made it to the gate as he stood there watching out as the rest of our people finally entered the camp; I stood there leaning against him listening to his heartbeat into my ear softly as I looked around. I couldn't even find Clarke, had she gone back to help stragglers? I watched as she gave Monty a hug which seemed more like a goodbye hug than a 'We made it' or 'Thank you' hug.
I took Bellamy by the hand and led him towards Clarke. "We can finally all take a break and breath… relax… what're you going to do with all this newfound free time Miss Griffin?" I asked her as she chuckled softly.
"Watch you too finally have your perfect romance maybe? Start your little Blake family…" She explained which for some reason, my heart told me not to believe a single word she was saying.
"I think we deserve a drink." Bellamy said to her, "And you a water." He poked at me as I shook my head.
"Have one for me." Clarke told him as the feeling in my gut only grew stronger.
"Hey, if we can get through this—" He started to say to her as I cut him off.
"You're not staying are you?" I asked her. "That easy to read?" She asked.
"I know you well enough, Clarke…" I said pulling her close to me in a hug. "Stay… please." I told her softly.
"Look, Clarke if you need forgiveness, I'll give that to you. You're forgiven." He told her as she shook her head, "Seeing you two united again does that enough for me." She told him.
"Please Clarke, come inside." I told her as Bellamy tightened his grip around my waist and I reached out and held Clarke's hand. "Don't do this to me… please…" I begged her.
"Take care of them for me." Clarke said as she looked to Bellamy, "Especially this one, and the baby." She continued.
"Clarke…" He warned as I felt the tears flood my eyes, she reached up and wiped a few of them away but they weren't stopping.
"No, seeing their faces every day is just going remind me of what I did to get them here."
"What we did." I told her as my voice cracked. "The three of us pulled that lever Clarke." I reminded her.
"You don't need to do this alone, Rayne and I are here…" Bellamy pleaded with her.
"I bear it so they don't have to. So you two don't have to." She told us as she let go of my hand.
"Where you gonna go?" He asked her as I just stared at her, my eyes begging for her to reconsider.
"I don't know." She sighed, as she moved forward pulling the two of us into a hug kissing Bellamy on the cheek before doing the same thing to me. "May we meet again." She muttered as he voice began to crack.
Bellamy and I stood there and watched as Clarke walked away from the two of us. "What do you think of either… Maya Clarke Blake… or Clarke Maya Blake?" I heard him ask me.
"I think either will bring pain to someone in the camp… Abby or Jasper." I told him as I felt myself sigh heavily. "Your right…" He mumbled.
"Something we have to discuss once… everyone knows that she's gone." I told him softly. "I can't believe she's gone…" He sighed taking my hand and leading me back towards the camp."
"We will see her again… this I'm sure of…" I told him as I leaned my head on his shoulder as the two of us entered the camp having the doors shit behind us.
Nova's Point of View
The sun had stung my eyes forcing me away as I sat up looking around making sure no one had come near us while we had slept. Slowly pulling my knife from my sheath on my hip, stopping when I felt John's hand on my arm. "We're fine." He said softly as he too sat up squinting as he looked around the beach.
"What is that?" I asked him pointing to the large tower that was standing a few feet away from us.
He scratched the back of his neck, "I think that's what the light was coming from, and it's called a lighthouse I believe."
"What a simple name for something so grand. I mean it looks nothing like a house." I told him as he chuckled.
"I think they called it a light house because it's the lights home." He told me as I shrugged, "Still stupid." I commented as I stood up lending out my hand out for him to take as I helped him up.
"What are all these things?" I questioned kicking around some of the weird things lying about in the sand. "Remotes, they look like they're to TV's or something." He told me as he picked one up and tossing it across the sand.
He lifted up something else off the ground, "What's that?" I asked him, "Motherboard to a computer, I think. It's like people just dumped all their electronics here after everything was coming to an end." He told me.
"I don't know what any of these things are…" I told him feeling no longer like a brave warrior and more like a small child who knew nothing.
He began to walk away from me and towards the way that Jaha had left us the night before. "Well, you're going to be teaching me how to fight. I'll teach you what all this is." He said as his foot hit something shaking the sand lying on top of something.
He knelt down dusting it off revealing a small panel much like the ones on the other beach. John stood up quickly moving me from beside him to behind him, he was looking around when suddenly I could hear someone singing, and well it sounded like mumbling.
"Follow me." John said as he turned around extending his hand out to me. I looked at him still unsure if I wanted to continue this journey or figure out a way to get back to the main land. "Nova… please." He whispered to me as I nodded slowly taking his hand in mine as we both ran towards where the noise was coming from.
Removing the dirt from that panel must have started the singing, which must have meant that it was a person singing it was a recording. Continuing through the woods we came up to a wall as I looked up at it. "How do we get in?" I asked him as he looked around.
He just seemed to shrug before he began to hit his free arm against the massive wall. "There has to be someone inside, how else did the music start." He questioned.
"What's London, and a werewolf?" I asked referencing to the song that was being sung. John turned to face me before chuckling, "London is a City, in England… a Country well… Island and a werewolf is a really large wolf. Man during the day and a wolf during a full moon." He told me as I arched my brow.
"Is this London?" I asked, we were after all on an Island, "No." He chuckled, "When they sent us down here we headed for the United States." He told me.
"A werewolf that's some kind of magic I've never heard of." I sighed.
He started laughing, "It's just a myth, it's not real… from what I learned it was just a fable something to scare people." He said as I nodded feeling even more stupid than I had before.
"Hey…" He said walking towards me placing his hands on my shoulders, "Don't look upset, there are things you don't know… things I don't know, we're going to learn all this together." He said placing a kiss on the corner of my mouth.
"Thanks." I said as he had tried making me feel better.
Knowing how most of his people looked at us as if we're savages, brutes, like we knew nothing but blood, war and fighting. Which I suppose is true; I didn't know anything about this stuff I was seeing now. I knew nothing about the world outside of my clan; the village or the forest except for the lore travellers would tell the Clan's. Things Lincoln would tell me, which where usually stories and tales he heard from our parents.
He turned around and started to pry at a piece of the wall that was sticking out. "Here help me with this." He asked as I helped him push the wall open revealing it as an entrance, causing the music to become louder."
As we entered the room, the lights began to slowly light up the entire room. I hated admitting that this technology even the one's John's people brought down scared me. John took my hand again leading me towards a set of stairs as he began to lead me down the stairs. "John…" I warned feeling the fear in my body creep up my body into my voice.
The music begins to grow louder, as we continued to head down the steps. John was looking around cautiously as I began to draw my sword out incase there was a hostile in the room. Once we had reached the bottom I could tell there was no one here except for the two of us. Putting my sword away, I noticed all the furniture around the room, the lights on the ceiling, the objects sitting on the walls and tables. This was someone's home.
John started chuckling once the lights lit up the entire room showing it for all its glory. "Promised land." He whispered to me as I found myself smiling. "Was this here waiting for us?" I asked him.
"I wish." He grinned.
He walked away from me and from the main room and began to walk towards another leaving me standing there looking around the room. I picked up a strange ball off the table rolling it so that it hit one of the other's on the table, before walking off following John into the other room.
John ripped open two packages handing me the odd looking contents of the package as he stuffed the, I guess food into his mouth before looking around the room for other things. Slowly I took a bite of the stuff myself swallowing it realizing that it wasn't so bad, "Water would be great for whatever that was." I told him
He popped open a small container pouring it into two cups before handing me the one. "To us." He said as he clanked his cup against mine as I stood there holding it watching as he drank all the contents in his cup quickly.
I followed suit doing the same thing not expecting it to be alcohol, the taste feeling good as it slowly dripped down my throat. "We're home." He told me as I smiled at him softly.
"Never really had a home before, a cave, a tent yes but a home never." I told him as he pulled me into a hug pressing his lips against mine. "Well, I'm glad to be the one to give you a home." He reassured me with another soft kiss causing the heat to rush to my cheeks.
I was sitting on John's lap as we had both been drinking and eating all morning. He spun the chair around after putting on some heavy music which he told me was 'Rock' music. Weird name for a genera of music is you personally ask me.
"This is great." I said as I leaned my head against his shoulder. "It really is…" He said as he took another bite of food.
He hit a button on the remove in his hand as the music instantly stopped and the screen in front of us turned on showing us a young man sitting down on the couch that was beside us. "What is this?" I asked as he shrugged placing the food and drinks down on the table beside us.
"I tried to stop her…" The man sniffled, clearly upset by something a woman had done. "But I lost control, she got the launch codes. It was her. She did it…but it was my fault." The man continued to say angrily.
Looking at the screen I noticed some numbers at the top of the screen, 5/10/2052. I was curious what that had meant, was that the time or the location? "What's that?" I pointed to the numbers.
"That would be the date he recorded this…" John trailed off.
The man soon picked up a weapon holding it in his hands as he continued to cry into the camera as I looked over at John slowly, this was positively the most uncomfortable thing I have ever had to watch. Besides the time I had to participate in the traitors death back at the village when I was a little girl. That was more disturbing than this.
"I'm sorry." The man said casually. "I'm so, so sorry." He said his tone growing angrier as he shot himself in the stomach causing both John and I to jump in place looking around confused as to why there was no body or blood in the room at all if the man had killed himself here in this very room.
I looked over at John who just sat there with his mouth open, "Something really messed up happened… and it happened on this island." He said to me.
"Jaha is somewhere on this island… should we go looking for him?" I asked him, John shrugged. "I have no idea where we would start… the fact that your people by the hundreds have been travelling here for years and we haven't found a single trace of any one besides this house and ourselves… leads me to believe… something or someone on this island is doing something to them." He told me as I shuddered.
"Fantastic… just like the Mountain men." I commented.
"We're safe as long as we stick together… there has to be something in this guys house that will tell us what he was talking about… we just have to find it." He told me as I nodded. "As long as I am with you… we are safe…" I repeated after him as he pulled me closer to him kissing me tenderly. "Exactly." He said.
