Rayne's Point of View
We had left the others and begun to drive towards Sector 4 to meet up with my father. Which I could only imagine didn't mean anything too good was going on. I had spent the entire ride over thinking about what could possibly be going on; maybe they found traces of Clarke somewhere?
We soon got out of the rover and headed inside the large structure to meet up with Kane. "You were right about Jasper, ok?" Monty said to Bellamy pulling me from my train of thought. "Is that what you want me to say?"
"Quiet." Bellamy said, "Keep your eyes peeled. I could've said no."
"He's getting worse, isn't he?" Monty asked looking back at me.
"I honestly can't say…" I began to mutter; "I mean, getting drunk every night is one thing, but smiling with a knife to your throat, that's next level damaged." Monty commented.
"Look…" I hushed the boys as we reached a light. "Who's he with?" Monty asked. "Indra." Bellamy commented looking over at me.
"That's Indra?"
"Yes, and be very careful with whatever it is you say to her… that's Lexa's leader in the woods." I remarked, "She was training both Octavia and I for the fight against Mount Weather."
"Hopefully he didn't tell her how we broke the truce." Bellamy whispered to us. "Sir, before you say anything, there was a good reason –" Bellamy had begun to say as I nudged him to shut him up. "Dad, Indra." I greeted.
"We'll deal with that later." Kane said as Indra's eyes where hot on me. "This is about Clarke."
"You found her? Where is she?" I began to talk quickly moving in front of the boys to get closer to Indra and my father.
"What about her?" Bellamy asked as he pulled me closer to him. "She's being hunted." Indra said flatly.
"What?" I questioned feeling my entire body grows stiff. "By who?" Monty filled in the words my mind wasn't able to find.
"By everyone." Indra explained to us all.
"But why… she helped free your people being held captive, assisted in taking down Mount Weather. She helped Lexa out many times, what could they possibly want with her now?" I asked feeling the heat of my anger grow in my face.
It wasn't enough that they drew her away from us with the temptation of being one of their leaders, drew her from us with Lexa's poisonous lies. Their fake friendship, and drew her away from our camp, safety… home. They had to go and hunt her down like a damn animal too, as if we needed more reasons to hate the grounders.
I turned around and made my way back towards Bellamy moving closer to him; "They knew she was being hunted since she left why is it only now… we're hearing about it?" I questioned him.
"I don't know… it really doesn't make any sense. Not to mention her meeting with us in secret like this doesn't exactly tell us she's supposed to be helping us look for her you know?" I nodded when he stopped.
"Well how do we find her? How do we bring her home?" I asked Kane and Indra once I had turned around again.
We had all soon got into the truck and began to leave. Monty driving, Bellamy was in the passenger seat, which left me in the back with Kane and Indra. Imagine my excitement. 'Commander heard about your misfortune. She does send her regret and apologies.' Indra whispered to me. I just looked at her and shook my head; 'As if you weren't aware of that factions plans to attack us while we where mapping the area.'
Indra sat up slightly looking over at me with a hint of sadness in her eyes, they didn't know. Or at least Indra wasn't aware of any plans to attack our people. 'I spoke out that was rude.' I apologized.
'You have every right to be angry; your anger is your strength. Remember that.' She told me before we moved away from each other to rejoin the discussion going on in the truck.
Something hit the side of the Rover causing Indra to jump, "I'm still getting used to it myself." Kane informed her.
"Sir, we're almost out of range." Monty informed him, out of range… had I missed something. "Are you sure you don't want to tell the Chancellor?"
"I'm sure. I don't want to worry Abby until we know something. I know if the roles were reversed and it was Rayne missing, I would hope for the same courtesy." Kane explained.
"Well we know there's a kill order. I would hope if the roles were reversed and this was Rayne's life that someone would bring out the entire army." Bellamy said his voice drenched in anger and sarcasm.
Whenever my life, or safety was brought up even if it was hypothetical he would get incredibly defensive and protective. Regardless of who it was that brought it up. It was nice, but it did often more than not… scare me.
"Your people are big on those." Bellamy added taking a shot at Indra.
"It's not a kill order. It's a bounty." Indra corrected him, "And trust me, were roles reversed it would be a much higher one in regards to Rayne." She seemed to almost sass him.
"That's good to know…" I mumbled.
"Clarke is a symbol. They both are. She's however known as Wanheda—the Commander of Death."
I couldn't help but wonder if Clarke had that heavy of a name on her head; what was I known as if I would have a larger price? I wanted to ask but Bellamy kept the conversation flowing taking away my window to ask. "The ice nation guys we killed asked about Wanheda. They're looking for Clarke. Why?"
"Why is the Commander looking for Clarke she got her way and didn't have to fight against Mount Weather, she got her people back." I added, "And Clarke made her look weak in the process." Indra explained. "You both did."
"My people believe that when you kill someone, you get their power. Kill Wanheda, and you command death."
"She's just one girl." Kane added. "They do realize that isn't humanely possible right?" I asked her as she gave me a look just told me to keep my mouth shut.
"So was the commander. Like I said, what Clarke did at Mount Weather weakened her. The ice nation is emboldened; their queen wants Clarke's power. If her people believe she has it, she'll break the coalition and start a war. I can't let that happen. I also recommend keeping this one, away from their eyes as well." She said looking at me.
"That isn't going to happen." I told her, "I will find Clarke and bring her home."
"Welcome to sector 7. Where to now?" Monty asked pulling us out of what was becoming a heated conversation.
"If she's here she'll need supplies." Indra explained to us, "We'll start at the trading posts."
Nova's Point of View
I sat there on top of the rock looking over at John as he seemed to just watch the water his hand on my calf. "He's insane, he is literally listening to a projection of a person that once lived a hundred years ago." He had finally said after what felt like a lifetime of silence.
"He is delusional, was he like that even when you where up in the sky?" I asked him curiously. "My people used to look at people like him as prophets before a Queen in a distant nation found them to be liars, cheats and tricksters… than they where all hunted down and killed." I told him realizing I gave him a history lesson he would really not care to hear.
"If only." He commented, "He was a really smart guy up there; knew what he was doing no matter how messed up things got. I get the mixture of being alone, losing his kid, and having little to no oxygen made him crazy."
"Understatement I would think." I smiled to him causing him to chuckle. "You'd be right Nova. Do you really not regret following me? You could be back in normal town with your brother or your people." He asked.
I couldn't help but laugh; "Lincoln hasn't been my brother in years, I can't see him suddenly starting now. My people would have cast me out for wanting to be close to you sooner or later so I really just did myself a favor by leaving. I'm exactly where I want to be John." I explained.
"Thank you." He told me as he squeezed my leg slightly.
A ships horn went off causing John to look off in the distance; "A horn?" I asked him before sliding off the rock. "No way." Was all he said before he took my hand and began to make his way to the edge of the beach before stopping when Jaha emerged from the shadow with a tall man.
"You're leaving." John pointed out.
"Yes. So are the two of you."
"No way." Was all I managed to laugh out, "yea not with you we aren't." John finished for me.
"I'll be right there, Gideon." Jaha told the tall man before he made his way towards us.
"See you've made a new friend." John scoffed as he looked over to me, I had no idea who Gideon was so I just shrugged.
"I'm sorry we kept you both in the bunker, John. Is that what you want to hear? Well, the truth is, I knew you were safe, and with all the things that we had to do, I needed the time." Jaha explained which seemed more like crazy talk.
"Yea. I could tell you were pretty busy back there." John said sarcastically.
"We converted a nuclear warhead into a power source."
"What's that?" I asked as John just hushed me to avoid further explanations from Jaha.
"With the added power, A.L.I.E was able to complete the work she began with her creator a hundred years ago." Jaha continued.
"Whatever. Look. We're still leaving this place in a row boat." John told him wrapping his arm around me.
"I need you." Jaha told him, as I looked up at John. I was clearly just going to be a pawn used to get John to do as these people wished, the moment he helped once and I really hope he could see that.
"Of course you do, but so does Nova and I wont do anything that will get her hurt." John explained.
"Nova is more than safe with us. You have my word."
"No we're just more food for the sea monster, right?" John questioned as I could feel his handgrip tighter on my shoulder.
"Let me prove to you what we can do." Jaha explained to him, "To show you how safe she is with us on our side. How safe both of you are."
John let go of me and moved in front of me, "Listen I have seen what she can do." John told him his voice growing with anger. "No. You haven't," Jaha told him. "Not even close, son."
"Now, how is it possible you sound even crazier than before? Crazier and think I'd let you endanger Nova with your ranting?"
"I can tell you about the city of light, but you won't understand." Jaha began as he held out a small purple thing in his hand. "Not until you experience it for yourself."
"And that's supposed to take us to the city of light?" John asked him looking down at the purple thing. "No pain, not hate, no envy." Jaha explained.
"No, thanks." John told him, "And don't even think about asking her. You wont use her against me."
"John—" Jaha began to say. "No."
"Pain, hate, envy—those are the ABC's of both Nova and I… we live it, breathe it. Get rid of them, and there's nothing left, so why don't you get that thing out of my face?"
"I'm sure with none of that left you still have each other and the happiness you create." Jaha said he wasn't wrong.
"Take care of each other John and decide later." He told us putting not one but two of the purple things in John's pocket before he turned to follow Gideon.
"Nova!?" I suddenly heard a voice causing me to spin around and look at the machine. I couldn't see the face the voice belonged too. "John?" It questioned.
"Emori?" He said causing my face to grow a smile; she was an old friend…very old friend. "I can't believe it… well don't just stand there you two get on!" She called out as I looked over at John. "She we can trust…"
John looked at me. "She also stole our food and water remember?" He asked me as I chuckled. "Thief's will always be thieves" I reminded him as I took his hand and lead him towards the vehicle Emori was on, "The closer we are to this the safer… yes, because than we can see whatever's coming and react quicker." I whispered to him as he smirked. "Devious." He told me.
