Chapter 31

Move, and a murder!

Another month later

After the twin's 6th birthday celebration, it was time to pack up. The maids would come with Rin and Sesshomaru into the new manor. All of their prized possessions were being packed up. The land was handed over to a lord in the east. He said he would give Sesshomaru half the rights, and have him check in every year. Sesshomaru agreed and gave the land to him. The lord was a full-fledged lighting demon, who was already 1000 years old. He was also an old friend of Sesshomaru's father. Sesshomaru no longer hated humans, and he could have had his choice of human kings. He needed someone who was immortal like him, to rule the kingdom for all eternity.

After sighing half the deed to his dead father's friend, whose name was Dai-So by the way, they sealed it with their blood and made it official. Dai-So moved into the old mansion and took over immediately. Rin and Sesshomaru set off in their carriage, followed by two wagons behind them. One of the wagons was pulled by Miss Bamki and the other maids. The second, was pulled by Ah-Un with Master Jaken holding the reins. They were on their way to the new manor.

"Mommy, it's so warm out! Is this what they call summer?"

Resashy asked. Rin adjusted herself in the carriage put her arm around her daughter and spoke.

"Yes my love, this is summer. The summer time is where the flowers grow high and bloom in many colours."

As Resashy giggled, Inutashi rolled his eyes in annoyance and crossed his arms. He didn't want to sit in the carriage! He wanted to walk with his old man and hold his hand. Everything Inutashi did, he always seeked his father's approval. He sighed in boredom and annoyance again and just watched the objects out the window go by. On Sesshomaru's back, it took a day to get to the village with his speed. However, at this speed, it took four days to get to Kaede's village. Yes, Sesshomaru was impatient, but stood by with his family and lead the way anyhow. He sensed danger, the smell was human. He turned to Master Jaken. Master Jaken nodded and jumped off the cart Ah-Un was pulling.

"We have thieves in our midst Jaken, protect the carriage by any means necessary. If they even try to get even 3 feet of it, burn them to the ground."

Master Jaken nodded to Sesshomaru and obeyed his orders.

"Yes my lord!"

Master Jaken said, holding up the staff of two heads. The criminals approached, there were 20 of them.

"Well, look at what we gots here. Two carts and a carriage! What luck?!"

Said the leader, unsheathing his sword. Master Jaken held up his staff, protecting the carriage. The thieves attacked! Heading straight for the carriage! Master Jaken used his staff and fried 3 thieves. Sesshomaru attacked the thieves, killing them all accept for the leader. He had special plans for him.

"Oh my god you killed them!"

Sesshomaru punched the leader in the face then grabbed him from the neck. Sesshomaru glared at the leader. Something about the man was different. He smelled the leader, taking in his scent. Sesshomaru then smiled darkly, with sadistic thoughts in his mind.

"You are not human, are you?"

Sesshomaru asked, choking the leader some more. The leader laughed and gasped for air at the same time.

"AKKKK! HAHAHAHA, YOU FOUND ME OUT DIDN'T YOU? ONLY A DEMON SUCH AS YOURSELF WOULD DETECT IT. I AM NOT HUMAN, BUT I LOOK THE PART SO WELL DO I NOT?"

Sesshomaru choked the immortal leader some more, becoming angry and impatient.

"What are you?"

Sesshomaru asked, demanding an answer. The leader smiled and spoke.

"I AM A VAMPIRE. MAKE SURE AFTER I AM DEAD TO CUT ME UP INTO LITTLE PIECES AND BURN MY BODY, OR I WILL COME BACK TO LIFE."

Disgusted, Sesshomaru broke the leader's neck, killing him. He cut him up with his sword and burned his body along with the rest of his followers. Sesshomaru only heard legends of vampires in Romania. He thought vampires were just folk tales. I guess, the legends were facts. Sesshomaru huffed to himself and kept walking. Master Jaken returned to his post on the second cart.

Two days later….

After packing up the camp equipment and putting out the fire, the group pressed on to their journey to their new home. Sesshomaru still had that vampire on his mind. He was deep in thought. Then, the group approached the most difficult part of the journey: Momo Bridge. Momo Bridge was what separated the east lands from the west lands. It was made of stone, but very small and narrow. The slight grazing of cargo on the edges could topple everything over the bridge; including yourself, falling five thousand feet to your demise. Sesshomaru sighed, and lead the carriage that contained his family across the bridge slowly.

"Cool!"

Inutashi said, staring out the window. Resashy clinged to Rin, scared out of her wits.

"Mommy, I am scared!"

Resashy said shaking. Rin held her daughter close, trying to give her some comfort. As the carriage passed safely, Miss Bamki's cart was next, trailing over the narrow bridge. A pot flew off and plunged into the ravine. It wasn't much of a loss, as their lives were far more important than a pot. Master Jaken's cart was easy, as Ah-Un simply flew over it, with the items intact and safe when he landed.

The family was now in the west lands, a few miles ahead they would set up camp. For tomorrow, they would arrive at their new home close to their friends.

The very next day….

Rin woke up first. She yawned and exited her and Sesshomaru's tent. She got water from the lake and put out the remaining burning charcoal of the fire. Sesshomaru came treading behind her, yawning and groaning. Sesshomaru wasn't exactly a morning person. Rin smiled and kissed his cheek, then woke up the children. Master Jaken prepared breakfast while Rin and Miss Bamki packed.

"Two more days Miss Bamki, and we have a new home."

Rin said, packing up blankets and such. Miss Bamki nodded and tucked pots and pans into her cart with a reply.

"Yes, it is a good thing I guess. I have family that lives near Kaede's village and it would be great to visit them."

Sesshomaru cracked his back and went through the brush to the nearby lake. Miss Bamki smiled and whispered in Rin's ear.

"Miss Rin, why don't you accompany Lord Sesshomaru? It has been a long time since you had any alone time together."

Rin giggled and nodded, then followed Sesshomaru into the brush. She saw him washing his hair and face in the water. She smiled and put her arms around him.

"Hello my sweet."

Rin said, kissing her husband's neck. Sesshomaru turned to her and pushed her on her back, forcing his way on top with a reply.

"My, aren't we affectionate this morning?"

Rin smiled and nodded while kissing her husband. Sesshomaru returned her kiss stroked her pregnant belly moaning and groaning alongside his wife.

Two hours later….

The two returned to everyone in the camp site. Sesshomaru lead the way while Rin hoped inside the carriage with the children. After having sex, the two felt much better and less stressed. Another hour has passed, they were about a mile away from their new home.

Another hour had passed, the group finally made it to the old manor. It was breathtaking. The décor outside over all was beautiful. The inside was even better, full of multi rooms and multi bathrooms. It was Rin's dream house. The place appeared in good condition, as if it had only been empty for a year. With every abandoned house, there was an abandoned deed.

"Jaken, help unpack, I am going to search for the deed to this place."

Master Jaken nodded and replied.

"Yes sir!"

He then helped Rin and the others unload the cargo. Rin grabbed a suit case and carried it inside. She loved the place already. As she set the suit case down, she smelled something. It was an unusual smell, revolting actually.

"Master Jaken, come in here…"

The imp huffed in annoyance and replied.

"What is it Rin?! I am busy!"

"Don't you smell that?"

Master Jaken sniffed the air, he then looked at Rin and spoke.

"With my experience in war, I know that smell. It's rotting flesh. It is faint though, only demons like us were able to pick it up. I will alert Lord Sesshomaru, do not let the children enter."

With that, Master Jaken went to find Sesshomaru. Rin gulped and exited the house and told Miss Bamki the situation.

"I will keep the children busy and not let them out of my sight."

Miss Bamki said, looking at the children. Rin nodded and went inside to find the source of the stench. She climbed up the stairs, and nearly had a heart attack. There was blood shed on the walls, and what looked like nail marks on the floor. It seemed that whoever was killed was being dragged. She followed the drag marks, all the way to a lonely door at the end of the hall. The door marked 'Basement' Rin was scared, and all of this fear and stress was not good for the unborn child she was carrying. She decided not to pursue it, and waited for Sesshomaru to enter. She heard footsteps, coming up the stairs. It was Sesshomaru, holding the deed to the house in his hand.

"Sesshomaru, this place was—"

"Not abandoned, I know. I can smell human blood all over this place."

Sesshomaru interrupted, putting his arm around Rin.

"Go help Miss Bamki, I will search the basement. I don't want any stress to come to you and our child."

Rin sighed and hugged Sesshomaru then went outside. Sesshomaru went to open the basement door, it was locked. He scoffed and kicked the door open. The smell of rotting human flesh stung his dog demon sensitive nose. Sesshomaru growled as the smell went into his demon sinuses.

He shook off the feeling and crept down the stairs. There was more bloodshed, and more bloody drag marks. When he got to the basement, he searched for the body. He held his sword close in his right hand, just in case. He searched behind boxes, trunks, and junk. He found another room. An old bloodstained pool of blood was coming out from under the door. Sesshomaru dragged his claw on the pool of blood. It was no longer warm and was rather crusty. This must of happened over 2 months ago, which explained the major decomposition. Sesshomaru went to open it, it was also locked. Sesshomaru rolled his eyes. Apparently whoever did this did not want anyone to find out. He kicked this door open too. What he found, was horrifying. He had never seen this much gore since he was in battle with his father. Blood was all over the floor. There was a man in the far corner, with stab wounds in his forehead, stomach, and pelvis. Another body lied in the far right corner over a box, it was a woman. She had her insides hanging out, followed by blood around her. She appeared to have been stabbed at least 19 times. Last, but simply the worst, two children under the ages of 6 were lying dead next to one another, shot in the forehead. The killer must have known and cared for them, as they were laid out carefully together. There was no stab wounds, indicating that the killer did not want these children to suffer.

There was no way Sesshomaru would let Rin and the others see this. He called for Master Jaken to come down. When the imp came down, he could not believe his eyes.

"Dear lord, what a massacre!"

The imp exclaimed, covering his mouth in shock. Sesshomaru nodded and replied.

"Help me clean this up, we cannot let Rin see this."

Master Jaken nodded and replied, then went to get some blankets he saw when he entered the basement

"Yes my lord."

The two said nothing to Rin and the maids. They simply went up and down the basement with hot water and blankets. Rin knew Sesshomaru must have found bodies. She didn't want to see it, so she just unpacked and kept the children away from upstairs. It took almost half the day for Sesshomaru and Master Jaken to clean everything up.

Later that day….

It was exactly six at night. Master Jaken and Sesshomaru had the bodies in the guest house. They were laid out on the floor in blankets. Both demons tried to determine who these people were with belongings they found in the boxes from the basement. Master Jaken found some documents the box he was currently shifting through.

"My lord, the women's name appears to be Kai Okataku. Her maiden name is Koi. Okataku must be the husband's name."

Master Jaken said, waving the document.

"How do you know they are married?"

Sesshomaru asked, kneeling to the imp's level. Master Jaken pulled out a painting and replied.

"This appears to be them in this painting on their wedding day my lord."

Sesshomaru snatched the painting and replied.

"Good work Jaken."

Master Jaken smiled and replied.

"Thank you my lord! It means so much coming from you!"

Sesshomaru rolled his eyes and sat in the far corner in a chair. Rin entered the house. She saw the bodies of the family and Master Jaken going through their belongings.

"Have you found out who they are yet?"

Sesshomaru looked up. He sprung from his chair and tried to get Rin out.

"Please Rin, I don't want you to-"

"No! I want to help!"

Rin interrupted Sesshomaru in mid-sentence. Sesshomaru sighed in annoyance. He looked at the bodies than spoke.

"This is Taka Okataku. This is his wife Kai. We do not know the children's names yet. Jaken is still searching."

Rin frowned and walked up to the children. She started lifting their arms and legs. She appeared to be looking for something.

"What are you doing?"

Sesshomaru asked, watching Rin. Rin replied while lifting and rolling the children.

"These days, royal children such as them are marked. So when they are married off, they have a special marking to tell who they are. It is like cattle. Terrible really. Ah, here they are."

Rin turned the boy over and found Japanese markings. It was the boy's name.

"His name is Gei."

Rin turned over the girl.

"Her name is Hihea. Master Jaken, write their names down."

Master Jaken spoke while writing it down.

"Amazing, how did you know?"

Rin got up and replied.

"I learned many things when I read from our library back home. We better give them a proper burial. Then, we will head to Kaede's village. After we settle in this place, we will find who did this."

So, Master Jaken, Sesshomaru and Rin buried the family. After their visit at the village. They were going to find the person who killed this family. By the looks of the children, who were clean and not full of bloodshed, the killer may very well be a family member.
