AN: Okay so first off my Hermione isn't as strong as the ones from the novels, its just the way I made her. Second Severus didn't leave the Room of Requirement to see what had happened in the hallway. And thirdly it seems to be difficult for me to spout out chapters like I used to. Don't worry I'll keep writing it just won't be as often. I also have started another story its a Dramione fanfic so if you like that pairing check it out on my page. Once again I am not JK Rowling.
Ron, Neville, Hannah and I were working on some Transfiguration homework while Luna and Ginny were attempting to figure out how Veritaserum was made for a six inch essay for Slughorn.
"When did you say Harry would get back?" I asked flipping through my book.
"No clue but its been awhile." Ron said glancing at his watch.
"Where is Sirius when we need him?" Neville asked flipping through his textbook. It was true Sirius was rather good at Transfiguration but he and Severus were hanging out in his office for some 'manly bonding' or something.
"He's busy with something at the moment." I said glaring at my parchment. This was not working at all. Something was off but I couldn't figure out where maybe I had the wrong incantation for the animagus spell?
"Okay what are we doing wrong it shouldn't be this -" Hannah was cut off when the portrait hole opened and Harry came running in covered in water and blood. My stomach swooped horribly and I stared at him shocked. What had happened?
"Where've you —? Why are you soaking —? Is that blood." Ron asked looking bewildered at, the sight of Harry.
"I need your book," Harry panted. "Your Potions book. Quick… give it to me…" Harry gasped out his eyes wide and frightened.
"But what about the Half-Blood —"
"I'll explain later!" Harry said quickly cutting him off. Ron pulled his copy of Advanced Potion-Making out of his bag and handed it over; Harry sprinted off past us and back to the common room.
"What in the world happened?" Ginny asked her eyes wide and fearful.
"What if it was the Serpents?" Luna asked biting her lip hard. Oh Merlin what if it was? We all jumped up and headed out into the hall. It was oddly quiet. I carefully slipped my wand into my hand and started down the hall mentally preparing myself for anything.
Loud footsteps sounded in the distance and I exhaled loudly. Hex first ask questions later. Susan Bones came taring around the corner a moment later her eyes large and fearful.
"Get out of my way!" She yelled shrilly pushing Neville away as she ran towards that hospital wing. I looked at Hannah confused. She shook her head and shrugged.
"Why in the world -?"
"HERMIONE!" My heart froze in my chest before I darted around the corner as fast as I could. I had never heard Sirius sound so desperate in my life. My heart pounded in my chest and I choked on my breath. He was terrified. What could possibly make him sound so desperate?
I froze my heart clenching terribly in my chest. Sirius was kneeling on the ground holding Harry. Harry was pale and he was bleeding. Oh Merlin.
"What happened?" I asked shakily kneeling next to them.
"Harry used a random curse on Draco he read in a book. It was a dark curse and almost killed him." I paled and clung to Luna who had kneeled next to me. "The Serpents retaliated when they found out. News travels way too fast in this school. Bloody ghosts and portraits gossip more than the students."
"Will he be okay?" Ginny asked her voice squeaky.
"I'm going to take him to the hospital wing." Sirius said standing shakily with Harry in his arms.
"We're coming with you." Hannah said her eyes sparking fiercly. I nodded in agreement and took a stop to follow them but stopped.
"You guys go ahead I'll be there in a moment." I said softly a plan forming. Sirius smiled faintly and nodded before turning towards the hospital wing. I looked both ways down the hall and pulled out my wand.
"What are you doing?" A voice asked from behind me. I squeaked in surprise and turned towards Severus. He looked pale and had blood on his robes. My stomach swam horribly but I ignored it.
"A little positive reinforcement." I said shrugging my wand still pointed at the wall. "How is he?"
"Bad but he has a good nurse taking care of him." Severus said smirking. I lifted my eyebrow in question. "I don't share secrets."
"Come on that's not fair." I said frowning.
"I think its perfectly fair that I don't share what others have told me." Severus said standing up straight and tall.
"How Hufflepuff of you." I muttered turning back towards the wall. I flicked my wand at the wall and writing curled over the stones as if an infection was spreading. The words continued around the corner and I took a step back a smile spreading across my face.
"I am not anywhere near a Hufflepuff." He spat darkly then paused reading the words on the wall then paled. "Do you have a death wish?!" Severus hissed his eyes wide.
"Possibly." I said shrugging before making it permanent. I smiled at my handy work and read over the words before heading towards the infirmary. Every few feet you could see where the words had sprouted up. Oh yes this would help a lot.
Peeves came rushing down the hallway cackling loudly belting out the words I had written on the wall. His voice echoed around the halls. Everyone would know what it said by dinner.
"Voldemort can go to hell for all I care.
He ruins the lives of everyone he comes in contact with.
There is no difference between you and me.
I laugh if you tell a joke.
I cry if you kick me when I'm down.
If I saw your blood it would be just as red as mine.
DUMBLEDORE'S ARMY STILL RECRUITING!"
