AN: Once again I am not JK Rowling.
Harry, Ron, Neville, Hannah and I were sitting in the Gryffindor common room working on homework. I was for staying in the Gryffindor tower till Sirius would come back tomorrow. He wrote me on a regular basis keeping me in the loop of his plans to save the muggleborns.
A seventh year girl looked up from one of the tables and made a face at Hannah. I glared at her till she looked away. Hannah and Luna may have been honorary Gryffindors but some of the older students didn't like that they were staying here.
Unfortunately these days Gryffindor tower and the Room of Requirement were the only safe places left. We would have been staying in the Room of Requirement but Draco was in there all the time now that Sirius had left. Whatever his plan was it was almost done.
"When do you think Ginny and Luna will come back from the library?" Harry asked scratching his face with his quill. Unfortunately he used the wrong end and smeared ink on his face.
"Whenever their done studying for OWLs." Neville said absently then looked up he burst out laughing a smile spread across his face.
"What?" Harry asked oblivious to the ink on his face.
"You got a little something here." I pointed on my own face so he could figure it out.
"Here?" He asked smudging the ink around. I snorted and hit my head against the table.
"You just made it worse mate." Ron said shaking his head. I flicked my wand and Harry's face cleared of the smudges.
"Thanks Hermione." He said looking absently out the window.
"Shouldn't you be studying Herbology?" Hannah asked reading her potions book a small frown on her face.
"Probably." He said shrugging his shoulders absently. "But if I ever needed to figure out a plant all I would need to do is ask Neville." Neville flushed a pleased smile spreading across his face.
"Need I remind you of Devil's Snare?" I asked flipping through my charms book.
"I doubt anything like that would happen again." Harry said running his fingers through his hair. It stuck up horribly in the back and I smiled.
Jimmy Peakes came through the portrait hole a small smile on his face. He came over to our table and tapped Harry on the shoulder. "This is for you."
"Thanks, Jimmy… hey, it's from Dumbledore!" Harry said excitedly, unrolling the parchment and scanning it. "He wants me to go to his office as quick as I can!"
Harry, Ron and I stared at each other. There was only one reason Dumbledore would send for Harry this late. He had found a Horcrux.
"Blimey," Ron whispered. "You don't reckon… he hasn't found…?"
"Better go and see, hadn't I?" Harry said, jumping to his feet. He darted out of the portrait hole and my heart stuttered painfully in my chest. Ginny and Luna walked through the portrait hole a moment later. Luna kissed Ron's cheek and Ginny's whole face was bright red.
"What happened to you?" I asked Ginny looking her over.
"Er, why did Harry just kiss me like -" she paused trying to find the right word.
"Like he won the lottery?" I asked raising my eyebrow.
"The what?" Ron asked his face blank. Hannah and I both sighed as I tried to explain the lottery as best I could.
"So your saying its like what dad won in third year?" Ginny asked trying to understand.
"Yes just like that." I said nodding.
"Why would he be acting like that?" Ginny asked confused.
"He thinks he might be going off with Dumbledore for er... well... you know." I said lamely and shrugged. Her eyes brightened considerably and a large smile spread across her face.
"What if you guys killed those things," we never said the word Horcrux in front of them. "and it would be all over by the end of summer?"
My heart clenched in my chest. If only, but I seriously doubted we would be able to kill them all before then. Besides Dumbledore was declining quickly. He was able to hide it most of the time but I could see it. The curse was spreading. Quickly.
Harry suddenly burst through the portrait hole his face pale. "What does Dumbledore want?" I asked looking him over. "Harry, are you okay?" I added anxiously, he looked horrible.
"I'm fine," Harry said shortly, racing past them. He dashed up the stairs to the boys' dormitory and came back down a minute later. We all sat quietly waiting for him to speak he was panting too hard to speak.
"I haven't got much time," Harry panted, "Dumbledore thinks I'm getting my Invisibility Cloak. Listen…"
Quickly he told us where he was going, and why. He did not pause either for my gasp of horror or for Ron's hasty questions. It had finally happened, Harry knew.
"… so you see what this means?" Harry finished his face pale. "Dumbledore won't be here tonight, so Malfoy's going to have another clear shot at whatever he's up to. No, listen to me!" He hissed angrily, when Neville opened his mouth. "I know it was Malfoy celebrating in the Room of Requirement. Here —" He shoved the Marauder's Map into Hannah's hand. "You've got to watch him and you've got to watch Snape, too. Use anyone else who you can rustle up from the DA. Hermione, contact whoever you can from the DA? Dumbledore says he's put extra protection in the school, but if Snape's involved, he'll know what Dumbledore's protection is, and how to avoid it — but he won't be expecting you lot to be on the watch, will he?"
"Harry —" I began my heart in my throat. It was all too much.
"I haven't got time to argue," Harry said curtly his eyes flashing. "Take this as well —" He thrust the socks into Ginny's hands.
"Thanks," Ginny mumbled blankly. "Er — why do I need socks?"
"You need what's wrapped in them, it's the Felix Felicis. Share it between yourselves, I'd better go, Dumbledore's waiting —" Harry dropped close to Ginny and kissed her so fiercly my throat became thick with tears. "I love you."
"No!" I said, as Ginny shakily unwrapped the tiny little bottle of golden potion, looking awestruck. "We don't want it, you take it, who knows what you're going to be facing?"
"I'll be fine, I'll be with Dumbledore," Harry said. "I want to know you lot are okay… don't look like that, Hermione, I'll see you later…" And then he was gone. We were all frozen in various states of shock.
"What are you waiting for?" Neville asked jumping up a determined gleam in his eyes. "Hannah you contact everyone you can from the DA, it may be eleven but some should still be up. Ginny you measure out small doses of liquid luck, Ron can you check on the Room of Requirement? Hermione where are you going?!" I was running towards the portrait hole.
"I'm going to guard Snape's office so the other Death Eaters can't contact him!" I yelled over my shoulder and ran out of the room as fast as I could. Okay so it was a partial truth in reality I was heading towards Severus to tell him to be prepared for what would most likely be one of the worst nights ever. The other was to figure out how to contact Sirius. I needed him desperately.
