AN: Once again I am not JK Rowling.

I quietly pulled my clothes on trying not to wake Sirius who was sleeping peacefully in bed. After we had made love last night we had fallen asleep. He held me the whole night keeping his arms firmly around me. I had woken up in the same position this morning. It had been almost unbearable to leave his arms but I knew I had to. I was going to visit Tonks and see how she was doing. It had to be hard on her that Remus had left.

I wrote out a quick letter and placed it next to Sirius where I usually slept so he could easily find it. Sirius rolled over so the covers were only covering his waist. His bare chest gleamed in the sunlight and I swallowed thickly.

"Enjoying the view?" Sirius asked his eyes still shut. I jumped and gave a nervous laugh as one of his gray eye snapped open. "Where are you going at nine in the morning?"

"I was thinking about visiting Tonks to check on her." Sirius' eyes darkened and he sat up.

"I think if I said have fun it would be the wrong sentiment." Sirius muttered shaking his head. "You go check on her and see how she's doing and that she's eating properly for the baby."

"What are you going to do?" I asked lacing up my boots.

"I'm going to work on her husband." Sirius muttered his eyes flashing.

"Sirius." I said warningly.

"Don't worry I won't hit him." He shook his head and ran a hand through his hair. "No matter how much I want to. I'll just try to talk some sense into him."

"Good." I said walking over to him. He slipped an arm around my waist and pulled me down so he could kiss me.

"Love you." I said softly before pulling away.

"Love you too." He whispered smiling. I quickly left the room and made my way downstairs before Sirius could give me a reason to stay. The moment I made it outside I dissaparated off the steps to the small woody area behind Tonks and Remus' apartment.

I slowly made my way towards the apartment building and pressed the buzzer next to the number seven. A soft crackling sound emitted from the speaker a moment later.

"Yes?" A dull woman's voice asked.

"Tonks?" I asked softly hoping I had gotten the right number. How embarrassing would it be to pick the wrong one?

Another crackling sound then a small timid, "Hermione?"

"Yes, its me could I please come up?" I waited for a response and I bit my lip waiting. Where was she? A moment later a mousy haired woman came around the corner and stopped. My mouth dropped open in horror. Merlin she looked terrible! If she looked this bad how could Remus possibly stand to feel all of her pain echoing back to him?

"Hermione." Tonks said her eyes dull as she opened the door.

"Hi Tonks." I said thickly then cleared my throat.

"What are you doing here?" She asked her voice empty of emotion. I shivered at the sound. She looked just as bad as she had last time when Remus had left. How could he possibly do this to her again?!

"I wanted to see you." I said then motioned to the door. "Do you mind if I come in?"

"Not at all." She said stepping aside and slipping a silver chain around her neck that had two keys on the end.

"What's the necklace for?" I asked following her up a set of stairs to the second floor.

"I have a bad habit of forgetting my keys and Re- er he gave me the idea to keep them on a chain around my neck." Tonks said shakily pulling the necklace over her head and slipped the key into the lock.

"So this is our- er my apartment." Tonks muttered opening the door. I followed her and smiled at the room. It was small but Tonks had obviously worked hard to make the place liveable and quaint. The walls were painted a bright blue and two purple couches sat on opposite walls and a large bookcase filled completely with books next to a door that led to the bathroom. A small full sized bed could be seen through a door off of the room and a tiny kitchen on the other. It was the perfect starter home only there was something missing. Her husband.

"Would you like some tea?" Tonks asked as she walked slowly into the kitchen her feet shuffling along slowly.

"No that's okay." I muttered taking a seat on one of the couches. A small lamp on a little end table turned on the moment I sat down. A framed picture lay face down and I swallowed thickly reaching for it.

I clenched my teeth looking closely at Remus and Tonks' wedding photo. They had only wanted one and Colin had been the one to take it. Remus was holding Tonks close to his side, her hair a brilliant bubblegum pink. Sirius and I were standing behind them smiling happily. Or at least Sirius was I on the other hand had dark circles under my eyes from staying by Hannah's side while she had been in the hospital.

Tonks came shuffling back in holding two cups of tea. Guess she didn't realize I said I didn't want anything. She silently passed it to me and sat down. I slowly took a sip and tried not to make a face. Tea was nasty, I had hated it ever since Trelawney had started to make predictions every time she saw a cup.

"Thank you." I said placing my cup on the table. "I heard the good news, congratulations are in order."

Tonks smiled shakily but didn't say anything.

"A baby is a very happy thing, have you told your parents yet?" I asked blowing a strand of hair out of my eyes.

"No." She said shortly.

I frowned and bit my lip thinking she wasn't giving much to work with. "How far along are you?"

"The mediwitch said I'm only a couple of weeks along." Tonks muttered slowly turning the cup in her hands.

"Wow they caught it early." There was a long awkward pause. I blew out a heavy breath trying to think of something to say but what could I possibly say? "Tonks -"

"Don't." Her voice was pained and brittle like glass. "I don't want to talk about it."

"Okay, er, what would you like?" I asked pushing a strand of hair behind my ear.

"Honestly?" I nodded giving her a small smile. "A distraction."

I nodded and nibbled on my lip thinking. What could I possibly distract her with? "What about a girls night out?"

Tonks made a face. It was the first real reaction from her. "No strippers please."

I threw my head back and laughed deeply. "No Sirius and all the other guys would be furious if they found out."

"Other guys?" Tonks asked looking up from the cup a tear making its way down her cheek.

"Well would you like to go with Ginny and -"

"Could it just be us?" Tonks asked her voice soft.

"Sure." I said nodding. A thought popped into my head and I smiled widely. "Why don't we go see a movie."

"Okay." Tonks said after another awkward pause. "What one?"

"I'll find out whats playing and I'll treat you." Tonks nodded slowly her eyes shimmering. "You know you can talk to me about anything right?"

Tonks nodded again her lips pressed tightly together. A moment later she was crying brokenly into her hands her whole body quivering in pain. I automatically wrapped my arms around her and pulled her against my side.

"Why... would... he... leave... me?" Tonks asked between heart wrenching sobs. Tears fell down my cheeks and I rubbed my hand up and down her back trying to comfort her.

"I don't know sweetheart, I really don't know."
