AN: This will be my last update before I leave. Once again I am not JK Rowling.
I stayed with Tonks for a week making sure she was doing okay. Honestly she mostly moped around horribly depressed. A few days after I went back to Grimmauld Place I took Tonks out like I had said I would. We saw Men in Black but she didn't seem to like the movie much. She was more interested in how it worked. Afterward she and I headed to Grimmauld Place where we were going to vedge.
"Sirius?" I called opening the front door. There was a small crash, a bang then a loud curse. "Sirius?!"
"In the kitchen!" Tonks and I made our way downstairs. I gripped her hand tightly in mine and she followed silently her head down.
Another crash emitted from the kitchen and I pushed open the door. Sirius had a bunch of vegetables in front of him and he seemed to trying to be cooking. Covering the walls was some sticky red sauce that must have exploded somehow. Mum was shaking her head in the corner an amused smile on her face.
"Deja vou." I muttered shaking my head.
"How so?" Mum asked picking up a rag to clean up the mess.
"Tried to teach Sirius how to cook last year." I looked around slowly at the messy kitchen. "I guess it didn't take."
"Sirius insisted on making you two something after your girls night out. By the way how did it go?" She asked looking Tonks over. There was pain in both Tonks and mum's eyes but mum tried to hide it.
"Its good to see you again." Mum said softly going over to Tonks and gave her a hug.
"Likewise." Tonks muttered her voice soft.
"Why don't I make you girls something? Anything you want." Mum said rolling up her sleeves.
"Hey what about what I cooked?" Sirius asked looking into the huge pot that was burping angrily on the stove. Too be honest it looked nasty. There were splotches of purple and green bubbling in the red liquid. I shivered and vanished the mess.
"I'm sorry Honey but I'm going to have to give you another lesson on cooking or maybe mom can." I said turning to look at Sirius. He had a frown on his face but didn't say anything.
"So what would you like for dinner?" Mum asked pulling her hair away from her face with a binder.
"How about a steak and kidney pie." I asked darting a look at my husband. Sirius' lips twitched into a smile. It was his favorite.
"Tonks?" I asked looking her over. Her eyes were distanced and glazed.
"Yes?" She asked after an awkward pause,
"Have you lost weight?" I asked looking her over. She seemed thinner than the last time I had seen her. Mum turned away from the stove her eyes flashing in anger but Tonks didn't notice.
"Possibly." She said shrugging then took a seat at the table. "I haven't really been hungry lately."
"But Tonks your pregnant. You need to eat for the baby." I said softly kneeling in front of her.
Tears slipped down her cheeks and she didn't bother to try to remove them. Then she whispered in a pained voice. "Maybe it would be be better if I lost the baby."
"Tonks no." I said quickly shaking my head. "No it wouldn't."
"But this baby has ruined everyth -"
" No Tonks babies are a good thing and I'll prove it." I said standing up.
"How?" She asked standing up slowly.
"I'm going to introduce you to my baby brother." I said in an authoritative voice then led her towards the stairs.
Sirius POV
I glared at the floor trying not to scream every obscenity I knew. But boy did I want to. How Remus could put up with this I had no idea.
"How can he do this to her?" Jean asked her voice thick with emotion. "I've never seen anything so horrible before."
"Where's Herman?" I asked leaning my hip against the large kitchen table.
"He's out." She said evasively shrugging her shoulders.
"Out where?" I asked slowly standing up to my full height.
"Just out." Jean said softly but she was lying. She had the same tell Hermione did: nervously pulling at her hair.
"Where did he go?" I asked darkly. He better not be doing what I thought he was doing.
"Now Sirius don't get upset." Jean said spinning around a knife clutched in her hand. I took an automatic step back and she set it down a moment later.
"Yeah that's a good start." I muttered rubbing my eyes.
"Herman went to go talk to Remus. Try to understand where he's coming from and also try to help him. We can all see how much this is all hurting you and he just wants to help." Jean said tapping her fingers against her leg. A nervous tell that had been passed on to her daughter.
"How long ago did he leave?" I asked striding towards the door.
"About an hour but I really don't think you need to -"
"Yes I do." I said quickly rushing out into the hall. My whole body was trembling and I swallowed thickly. This was so bad. Bollocks this was horrible.
"Sirius?" Hermione muttered behind me her voice soft and worried.
"Sweetheart I'm sorry but I have to go." I said pulling my old leather jacket on and sighed deeply. This would be a horrible night.
"Why whats wrong?" She asked sensing the urgency in my voice. I didn't want to tell her but she would never forgive me if I didn't.
"Your father went to talk to Remus." Her eyes sparkled brilliantly and she clasped her hands together in excitement.
"That's brilliant!" She said in a hushed voice her cheeks flushing in excitement. Oh how I hated to burst her bubble.
"I have to go stop him." I said quickly then kissed her fiercly on the mouth. She was dazed for a moment then shook her head.
"Why would you stop him?" She asked her eyebrows drawing together in confusion.
"The full moon is tonight."
