AN: So sorry I didn't update on Sunday when I was in town. I was taking a small break from those eleven chapters I made in three days. Its harder than you think unless its an intense scene like any of the battles. Once again I am not JK Rowling.

Sirius wouldn't let me go with him. I screamed at him but he wouldn't change his mind. He used Tonks as an excuse but I knew he didn't want me near Moony again. Last time Sirius had almost died trying to protect us.

My throat closed up painfully and I swallowed thickly. What if something happened to him? We had argued horribly. A tear fell down my cheek and I scrubbed it away with back of my hand. What could I possibly do to tell him I loved him dearly. I stopped and blinked. How could I be so thick? I thought of every happy memory that I had with Sirius and forced them through our bond one after another. Happiness flowed back a moment later and I smiled happily.

"Hermione?" Tonks called from Sebastian's room.

"Coming Tonks." I said letting out a heavy breath. This would be a long night. I walked up the steps quickly and opened the door to Sebastian's room. Tonks was pacing back and forth my baby brother held tightly in her arms.

"You know I've never held a baby before." Tonks whispered staring down at Sebastian who was sleeping peacefully in her arms. His hair had grown and unfortunately it was as curly as mine was when I was younger. It looked like a dark curly mop sitting haphazardly on his head. Poor kid.

"Your a natural Tonks." I said softly as she placed Sebastian in the crib. She looked up at me and smiled a small sparkle in her eyes. I hadn't seen her this alive in days.

"I always wanted a baby of my own." She whispered sitting in the rocking chair in the corner of the room and rocked slowly. Tonks seemed to be in a daze as if she had been keeping this in for awhile. I wasn't about to speak so she would keep talking. "But when I fell in love with Remus I didn't know if we could even have children. I had never heard of a child from a werewolf. He and I never thought we would need contraceptives of any kind. My period was a few days late and I knew." My heart was speeding up and I swallowed thickly. Tonks grew pale and she bit her lip.

"I was ecstatic but I didn't know how Remus would take it. When I told him," a tear slipped down her cheek and she ran a hand through her mousy hair. "it was the day before Albus' funeral. He was quiet and reserved. I thought he was just working through all of his emotions of Severus betraying us and Albus dead. He left the next day." My heart sped up even faster and I bit my lip nervously. Tonks swayed slightly and gripped the arms of the chair tightly in her hands.

"I have to leave." She said abruptly and lept out of the chair as if it was on fire.

"Where are you going?" I asked following after her.

"Away from here." She said evasively almost running up the stairs towards the master bedroom.

"Tonks -"

"Go Hermione I'll be fine don't wor-" Tonks stopped and swayed slightly on her feet a greenish tint coming to her skin. And then she was falling. I ran forward and caught her before she fell. My heart sped up even faster and terror that wasn't my own ripped through my body.

"Tonks?" My voice was faint garbled. NO! The word echoed in my mind. I held my head in my hands and clenched my eyes tightly.

"Remus, he's changing." Tonks was curled up on the steps holding her stomach. Merlin this was bad. I carefully helped her to her feet and led her up the stairs.

"Come on Tonks breathe through the pain." I whispered through clenched teeth. To be honest I was having a hard time breathing through my own pain. Sirius was fighting Moony right now. I could tell from the random pains that came and went.

"It hurts." She whimpered tears streaming down her face. "Its never been this bad before."

"Come on Honey lets get you into your bed." I said leading her towards Ginny and my old room. Tonks leaned against the door and searched blindly for the knob. I reached forward and opened it for her. The door opened and I pulled her forward leading her toward one of the beds. I laid her down as softly as I could. Tonks clutched her hands to her still-flat stomach as tears streamed down her face.

"Breathe." I whispered laying down next to her and wrapped my arms around her. Tonks shook in my arms as she cried.

"It hurts so much." She said through white lips.

"Force your love through the bond it should help." I muttered as she shook again. Tonks closed her eyes tightly her eyebrows drawn together in concentration. She seemed to relax back against me after awhile and I combed my fingers through her hair.

"Why is it so bad this time?" I asked softly. Tonks looked at the wall thinking.

"I think its the fact that we're apart. Remus is my mate and its harder on him to transform when we're not close. Usually the pain is cut by half just because I'm his mate. But the thing is Moony can tell and he's not happy about it I can assure you."

"You talk as if they're two different people." I said softly.

"In a way they are but its not like he has a split personality or anything. I can feel the love from Moony after Remus has transformed. That is really the only time I can feel anything from Moony the rest is from Remus." Tonks voice was hushed reserved.

"Amazing." I whispered in awe.

"Can we talk about something else?" Tonks asked in a squeaky voice, as if she was holding back tears.

"Sure," I paused thinking. "How about the first time I heard about the mad murderer Sirius Black?" I asked smiling in spite of myself.

"Is it a romance?" She asked her voice reserved.

"Nope but there are plenty of broken bones." I said smiling in spite of myself.

"Oooh sounds like a good one." Tonks said her voice soft.

"Oh it is." I said then started in on how I had seen his picture in the paper when dad, mum and I had gone to France on vacation. How his waxy complexion and his sunken eyes had terrified me. And that he had killed so many people and then been carted off to Azkaban laughing madly.

"Did he ever tell you why he was laughing?" Tonks asked shivering next to me.

"Yes." I said pulling the blanket up over her. "He was laughing because little Peter Pettigrew had never been good at dueling and had easily killed everyone on that street. The irony got to him."

"Huh." Tonks said softly. I continued with my story where I left off. Finding out Black had been after Harry to kill him because he believed killing Harry would bring Voldemort back. Peeve's telling Gryffindor tower that Black was in the castle. Harry telling us Black was his godfather and his father's best friend. And then the fateful night where Harry and I saved Sirius' life.

"It was one of the craziest nights of my life." I said twisting one of my curls. "Sirius was absolutely livid when he was Padfoot and went after Ron. Broke his leg, he apologized later of course but Merlin when he saw Peter he became unhinged."

"Strange things happen when you get pushed too hard." A tired voice said from the doorway. Tonks and I sat up quickly and looked towards the door. Sirius and Remus were standing in the doorway dark circles under both their eyes.

"Thank Merlin did you save dad in time?" I asked looking between them. Sirius nodded dully and rubbed his neck.

"Yeah I barely got there in time it was..." Sirius trailed off and he looked between Tonks and Remus. Tonks was hiding behind my back as if she was waiting to be yelled at. Her whole body trembled and she kept her eyes firmly on the blanket.

"Tonks." Remus said softly. She winced and a tear trickled down her cheek. "Herman talked to me and what he said was very convincing."

Tonks wouldn't look at him. I could feel the pain radiating off of her. How Remus could have possibly stood it for the two weeks they were apart I had no idea.

"Kitten would you please look at me?" Tonks promptly burst into tears. I pulled her into my arms and shushed her as she cried brokenly into my shoulder. Sirius glared at Remus and he shifted uncomfortably.

"Don't... call... me... that!" She hiccoughed between sobs. I rubbed her back and she continued to cry.

"Kitten," Tonks flung out her hand and hit Remus with a stinging hex. "Ugh Tonks then. I had a long night thinking about us. Herman had told me a lot of good things that made me think. Sirius did too when he was in his animagus form. Did you notice that it didn't hurt when I transformed back this morning?" Tonks was silent, listening.

"It was because I knew I was going to come crawling back begging for your forgiveness. I know I don't deserve it but Sirius told me you wished away our son." There was a long silence and Tonks froze in my arms.

"How do you know its a boy?" Tonks asked her voice thick.

"I don't." Remus said blushing. "I guess I was hoping."

"How do I know you just won't leave again?" Tonks asked wiping away her tears and looking at Remus for the first time. He winced at the look on Tonks' face but took a step forward. Tonks shrunk against my side and I rubbed my hand against her shoulder.

"You don't and I can feel your distrust but Sirius and Herman both said lots of things that made me think." Remus said running his hand through his hair.

"Like what?" Tonks asked her eyes flashing.

"Herman told me that you would love any child if it was half-wolf or not but I wasn't willing to listen. Then he started from a new angle. What if the child was part wolf how would they deal with it alone?" Remus said rubbing his hand against his eyes.

Tonks blinked owlishly. "And what did Sirius say?"

"He reminded me of what James had asked of all of us: to take care of Harry if anything had ever happened to him and Lily. James had never cared that I was a werewolf he even called it my 'furry problem' because I hated the term werewolf." Remus had tears in his green eyes and he blinked them away. "The last thing James had ever said to me was 'take care of my son no matter what' and I had tried. Unfortunately not everyone else was willing to let the 'boy-who-lived' stay with a werewolf. It was horrible knowing I couldn't save James' son." Remus was full on crying now.

"You don't deserve a third chance Remus." Tonks said her voice soft. Remus flinched his eyes pained. "But I'm going to give you one anyway."

"Oh Kitten." Remus said pulling Tonks into his arms. They kissed fiercely and I looked away blushing. Sirius tapped me on the shoulder and nodded his head toward the doorway. I silently made my way towards the door and shut it behind me.

"Hows dad?" I asked turning to Sirius. He was dead on his feet tired so I led him towards our room.

"He's downstairs with your mother. I honestly got there in the nick-of-time. It was very close." Sirius muttered shaking his head.

"Well I'm glad you saved him." I said my voice soft trying not to imagine a life without my father or my husband.

"Me too." Sirius said pulling off his shirt and crawled into bed. I crawled in next to him and he wrapped his arms around me. He rolled us over so we were spooning and kissed the back of my neck. I shivered and he smiled against my neck. A moment later Sirius was snoring softly, he must have been getting a cold. I snuggled down into the bed and closed my eyes letting myself relax in my husband's embrace.
