AN: Once again I am not JK Rowling.
Sirius POV
Remus and I were walking silently down the muggle street wands hidden in our sleeves. We were going to save the first muggleborn child on our list. Her name was Sarah Collins. Just thinking the name Sarah brought back memories of Hermione's little friend. I cleared my throat nervously and shook my head. We couldn't be distracted. Remus and I were fighting against the clock to save this girl and her family. Her letter should have gotten to her yesterday and the last thing we needed was for Rodolphus or Rabastan to get there before we could save her.
"That's the house." Remus muttered nodding up to a small quaint house at the end of the street. "You ready?"
"As I'll ever be." I said walking confidently up to the door and knocking. No one came to the door. Remus and I exchanged a look as I knocked on the door again. Nothing. I pulled my wand out of my pocket and pointed it at the lock. It clicked open and Remus and I silently made our way into the house.
The house was an absolute mess. Broken plates and glasses littered the floor, drapes were torn and a piece of newspaper was lazily fluttering to the floor. I caught it and read it quickly my eyes widening in horror.
Muggleborn Register
The Ministry of Magic is undertaking a survey of so-called "Muggleborns" the better to understand how they came to possess magical secrets.
Recent research undertaken by the Department of Mysteries reveals that magic can only be passed from person to person when Wizards reproduce. Where no proven Wizarding ancestry exists, therefore, the so-called Muggleborn is likely to have obtained magical power by theft or force.
The Ministry is determined to root out such usurpers of magical power, and to this end has issued an invitation to every so-called Muggleborn to present themselves for interview by the newly appointed Muggleborn Registration Commission.
"Moony they already got her and her family." I whispered paling. Dammit we were too late!
"Let's go to the next house on the list before they get to Liam Thompson." Remus said his eyes darting around. We disapparated away with a small pop.
Severus POV
I walked through the halls of Hogwarts my cloak billowing around me like a bat. Yes I had heard all the lovely term of endearments over the years but I didn't give a damn what the students thought of me. Never had. Okay that wasn't true. I had cared about what Lily had thought but she was the only one.
I pushed open the doors to the teacher's lounge where the other professors were sitting quietly. Some stared out the window while other's glared at me with loathing. I cleared my throat loudly and waited till everyone was looking at me. Every professor in the room either glared at me or tried to keep their expression completely blank.
"Welcome to a new year of teaching at Hogwarts." I said silkily smiling slowly. "Most of the things you have known Hogwarts to be will be changing this year."
All the teachers paled exchanging nervous looks. Horace Slughorn cleared his throat and looked up slowly. "Headmaster Snape what do you plan on changing?"
He would be the one to ask. None of the others were brave enough to say anything. Except maybe Minerva but right now I think she valued her post too much and was holding her tongue. I hoped she would. The students would need her during the year to save them from most if not all of the changes the Dark Lord was pushing through.
"It is mandatory for every pure or half-blood child of age to attend Hogwarts." I said slowly. Confused glances were exchanged and no one spoke for a moment.
"Will there be any other changes?" Cuthbert Binns asked slowly. Figures he would ask. He was the only one I couldn't attack in any way shape or form.
"All of the secret passages will be closed off and guarded with dementors or death eaters." The professors traded nervous glances and Pomona Sprout gasped so hard her hat fell off.
"Anything else Headmaster?" Minerva asked with a dark glare. We had been close before everything had happened. She had been my closest friend amongst the professors. And now she hated me with everything she had inside of her.
"Yes." I said smiling even though I felt like killing the two death eaters I was about to introduce. "May I introduce Amycus and Alecto Carrow the new Dark Arts teacher and Mudblood – I mean muggle studies teacher. My Deputy Headmistress and Headmaster respectively. They will be in charge of any discipline that they believe is fit." Amycus and Alecto came through the door both their eyes glittering madly.
"Argus?" The man in question looked up slowly petting his cat. "We are reinstating the old punishments are the chains ready?"
"They always are headmaster same as the whips." Argus said slowly.
"Perfect." I said silkily letting my eyes glitter happily. Alecto smiled and wheezily giggled. Amycus smiled madly and looked around the room at the other teachers. Minerva made an enraged face and Poppy let out a soft sob.
"One other thing it is no longer Defense Against the Dark Arts. It will simply be the Dark Arts from now on."
"What will they be taught?" Filius asked squeakily his face pale.
"The Unforgiveables of course. Fiendfyre, Sectumsempra whatever we believe is best." I whispered silkily. "And students with detention will be given the Cruciatus curse."
Filius squeaked and fell out of his chair, Poppy sobbed outright and Minerva accidentally made a cup explode making glass shatter every which way. Every teacher was glaring at me with loathing and I smiled even though I wanted to curl up and die.
Lily. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. It was all for Lily Evans Potter. The love of my life. Who had died because of me.
"Staff meeting dismissed." I said turning to go out of the office my cloak billowing behind me.
