Disclaimer: I don't own anything. Credits go to Kinoko Nasu and TYPE – MOON for Fate/Stay Night, and Hiro Mashima for Fairy Tail.

Chapter 3: New Beginnings, a Tragedy, and a Hero of Justice

After much fear has been lifted off of Fairy Tail due to the beautiful Assassin, their expressions ranged from pure admiration to silently ogling the Servant and wishing that they can invite her in bed. Of course, they kept their distance, as they are afraid that their hearts will be ripped out and they will never see the warm daylight again.

Meanwhile Assassin sat at one corner of the café with Zelretch and Mirajane, listening to the entire explanation by Zelretch on how the Grail is corrupted.

"Ah, now my mission is very clear. I am in deep gratitude for the two of you for redirecting my zeal." Assassin said as she bowed her head down. "I will gladly help my Master in any way I can."

"Like I said, just call me Mirajane." She replied as she waved off her hand. Zelretch just laughed at the two of them for their antics. But now is not the time to be relaxed. The Fifth Holy Grail War is fast approaching in the parallel world, and they must hurry there before it's too late.

"It seems that it is time for the old man to get serious for the duration of the war." The Kaleidoscope user just sighed as he wanted for peaceful days to never end, just like in Mirajane's world. Why the Grail chose a peaceful person is out of his comprehension. But then again, the Fifth Grail War is composed of women and children, which made it look more like a joke instead of an actual war.

"Well then, you both better hurry." Master Makarov replied as he hurried them out. Zelretch heaved another sigh before they both went out. "Both of you, take care."

"Sure will do, Master." Mirajane replied as she curtsied. Zelretch brought out his staff and sliced the air. The dimension ripped off, creating a cave for them to pass through.

So, that is the Second Magic that they have in their world, huh? Makarov mused as he saw them leave. Even he is amazed at how simply he can travel to parallel worlds with a wave of his staff. On the other hand, the current Master of Fairy Tail had concluded that although it will be a suicide mission, seeing as Mirajane has seldom used her true powers, he is confident that she will become successful in this mission.

Assassin, endowed with new knowledge that came from Zelretch, accepted her Master with great honor and humility that she will be used by a Master who has the same goals as her. They will destroy that chalice once and for all, and eliminate anyone who will get in their way. As much as possible, due to the fact that her Master is a peace – loving person despite her immense powers, she decided not to kill unless her Master wanted to. Besides, the old man said that this war will have women and children in it, so this entire war can be considered as a joke. Unless, older people will meddle in a fight between children.

I've had enough… Let me out of my misery…

Three months ago…

He has successfully summoned someone from the Caster class, thanks to the scrolls that pertain to her legend. He doesn't care if she betrayed men, as long as he gets something from her.

Three Command Seals were on his hand, and his foolish ways had him down to the last Command Seal. Still, she served him fully, but out of pretense. She is disgusted with the way he treated women. Those scenes only remind her of her past miserable fate.

She only felt pity for the women who he experimented with, and lulled them to sleep with a single spell so that she can send them off to a peaceful place at least.

Finally she got the chance as she saw him use his last Command Seal. She used her Noble Phantasm to nullify the contract with her Master. But she is now dumbfounded when she found out that her Master is still bounded to her, as she still felt the connection to him.

With his crazed and hazed eyes, he maniacally laughed under the full moon. His laughter echoed deep in the cave where they are right now. "You can never nullify the contract with me, Witch of Betrayal."

She doesn't want to hear that word ever again, yet this man dared to call on her by that. In her rage unbefitting for a princess, she now proceeded to kill him over and over, even though her Noble Phantasm only nullifies magical influences, not meant to be used as an actual weapon to kill a person.

Finally regaining her sanity, she discovered a knife. Binding the Magus with her high – level Magic of Atlas, she proceeded to reinforce the knife with her Magic and with that; she began to strike him over and over in the most brutal way possible, before incinerating him over and over again with her thunder spells guaranteed to leave nothing but his ashes. Even she is not satisfied enough, as she wanted even his ashes to fade into nothingness.

Against the cruel coldness of the rain, she walked weakly as she tried to escape her nightmares. She has killed another man. To top all of that, she has killed her own lifeline that made her stay in this world. In a few minutes she will fade away. But she is fine by it. As long as she exacted her revenge on her master, this will be the final moments that she will truly cherish all her life since the day the heathen gods and goddesses use her to commit atrocities.

But it seems that she will be stripped off of that last hope that she is clinging on to. A man in an ordinary suit helped her up to her feet and carried her to his home. She decides to kill the man when he only ignored her, as if he knew that he will die by her hand and still did not give a single crap about it.

It seems that death is the only option for him, as his demeanor emanates that of a professional assassin. This left Caster slightly shuddering under her robes, partly from the cold of the rain and partly from the presence that he exudes as of now, earning her respect.

"What…is your name?" she now asked him this question after a long time of silence. It is really out of character for her to know the name of someone who denied her of her fate, but it seems that for the first time, she developed an admiration for this man.

"Kuzuki Souichirou." He replied in a monotonous voice. He knew that he is doomed by the time that he let this woman inside their house. But he did not care, as death is always close by his side in his every step of the way, even when he is going outside for his work as a school teacher at Fuyuki's school Homurahara. Peace is not really in his dictionary after all, even when he had Ryuudou Issei, the Student Council President of Homurahara.

Little did he know that the land that their feet are on to right now is a very advantageous one for the Caster Class, as she can tap off the unbound energy that resides within. Their land is one of the major leyline points of Fuyuki City owned by the Magus Landlord of Fuyuki.

This is a story of me wanting to become a Hero of Justice. You may laugh at me, but let me tell you a story of a man that left me inspired to become one…

I am Emiya Shirou, sixteen years old, from the school of Homurahara Academy. I live at the Emiya Manor with Fuji – nee and ojii – san as my guardians, although ojii – san is frequently out of town, taking care of his business. I don't dare to pry in his business by the way. I am a survivor of the Great Fire of Fuyuki ten years ago, and let me tell you a story of how I met my savior.

I see blood, gore and burning bodies. I also hear endless anguished screams everywhere. I am just buying some food at a supermarket when that happened. I got separated from my own parents. The promise that I will come back to them is never fulfilled, as I saw my parents die before my own eyes.

From there, I keep wandering around, ignoring the plight of everybody. I just wish that I can be spared from my misery, but then fate has a cruel way of playing with people. The scene that is burning through my eyes is too much for me, and so I wish for myself to just die along with them, so that I can be with my parents.

But then a light shone upon me. I cannot recall clearly the events that happened while I'm inside that light. But I'm pretty sure of one person that searched for me through the rubble after that light shone on me. I can call him an old man due to his face. He is really crying, as though he saw something precious. I admit that I became really jealous of him seeing his expression like that, as though he is the one who is saved and not me. He hugs me, and repeats this line over and over again: "Thank you. Thank you" and "By saving a life, I have saved myself." I felt a strange warm feeling while I am being hugged for no reason at all, but I'm definitely sure that it's not his body that is emanating that strange feeling.

But I didn't care about that. I just thought to myself at that time: Can I smile like he did?

After that, he brought me to a hospital, forcibly shoving away all who gets in his way. He really makes sure that I am the one who gets first dibs on the treatment in the emergency room. I slept peacefully, for the first time in my life since that day that I lost my parents.

On the first day after my hospitalization, as I slept peacefully in my room, he came in, dressed the same as that last time, and asked my name in a formal voice. I don't know my surname that my parents had at that time, so I just answered him with my name. "Shirou."

"My name's Emiya Kiritsugu, and I'm going to be your father from now on." He just replied to my answer as monotonously as possible. I don't know at that time what that means, but I felt happy for some reason.

After arranging for adoption papers, he released me from the hospital a few days later, then we took a cab and for the first time, I see my new home. Granted, it's shoddy at first sight, but then I see workers of the house, doing repairs here and there.

I also see him cook for the first time, and that did not end well. Don't make me tell you about the gritty details of it, or you might not want to cook. So I decided to take up self – teaching books on cooking, and pretty soon, I am proud to say that I cook better than Fuji – nee. Well, granted that Fuji – nee is not really cooking, but is eating off of our mini food – stores.

On the third month after my release in the hospital, he told me a secret. He said that he is a Magus, a person who can do spells. Not of the magic kind that leaves kids breathless in amazement, but rather an art that leads you to death at the slightest mistake. He recalled that "To do Magecraft is to walk with death." I tried to convince him to teach me that, but he won't budge an inch. His reasons are very specific: He does not want me to die in exchange for that power.

After a few budges, he reluctantly decided to teach me that art. I became excited to find out that I can have something that I can use to become a hero. He is a really strict teacher, but I bore the pain of training everyday. If you should know what I am talking about, it is the pain of creating Magic Circuits day by day. And there is one line to activate the creation of Magic Circuits.

Trace, On.

I feel like I am firing a handgun, but the pain is indescribable after that. But I bore through that pain for many years just to have a technique to use. I am truly grateful that I can see the fruit of doing it since I made my body stronger and faster than ever every time I use that chant along with Reinforcement.

Every evening after practice, I dream of a beautiful sword. I don't know whose sword is that, but I secretly wish that I can see and touch its form.

Five years later, in the cold evening, he reminisced about becoming a hero of justice. But he regretted it as he got older. So I suggested to him that I want to take his place and fulfill his dream. These are the statements that changed my whole life forever, as he replied with a smile on his face that he can be at peace now. After that, he slept with a smile on his face. Or so I thought.

He is not even breathing. He just sat there, his eyes closed serenely and with a radiant smile on his face. A tear immediately fell down on my face as I try to wake up my old man. It all happened very fast. Even at the funeral, I cannot weep, no matter how much I wanted to.

Now, it is time for me to become a hero of justice like my old man. I am inspired by his ideals, and so I decided to become one.

Thus, the story from the viewpoint of Emiya Shirou will end, for now. But what he doesn't know is that he will be granted a power that even Magecraft cannot fathom. Sure, it does lead him to death, but that unique power inside him has kept him alive for so long. Also, that unique power will let her understand her former Master's last actions.

For all the ire that she has towards this man, she still admired him for making her tea. "Darn good tea" as she described it, and it is no joke at all. For that tea is carefully prepared by her Servant in a way that she can never fathom.

"How come you are so good at this?" She complemented her Servant as she drank elegantly. "I don't remember a Servant that can do this. If there ever is one, I can proudly say that my Servant's tea is still the darn best tea that I ever drank."

He gave her a shrug, to which she raised an eyebrow, before he replied. "My memory is almost jumbled by the time I am summoned here by an incompetent Master such as you are. So, who knows?" He enjoyed seeing her annoyed again at that notion. Meanwhile she can't fathom a Servant who does not have an identity. She just hopes that what she thinks right now will not come across Archer.

What is he, some sort of amnesiac hero?

Archer savoured every moment of her, before he paid the ultimate price.

He is whacked over the head by an empty cup that is still hot.

Granted, he will not faint from that, but the impact sure is darn painful.

Archer rubbed his still sore forehead while Rin laid down her tactics. "We will begin to count how many of them will be there. Your Clairvoyance will be helpful in this situation, am I wrong?" She gave him a glare that can send him cowering. But he only replied in a bored tone so as not to press on her button even more.

"I can't agree with you more on that. After all, knowing is half the battle. You truly impress me now, Rin." Archer complemented. Rin replied with a huff and a slight blush on her face.

"So you are praising me now?" She asked, as she raised her eyebrow once again.

"And now you take complements in a paranoid manner." Archer quipped. "So when will we do this?"

"We'll do this at twilight. From there, we can search for somebody we can aim a first kill." Rin replied coldly as she now laid down the map for Fuyuki and used her Mana compass to detect which locations have the most concentrations of Magic.

What she did not know is that Archer is an expert on future technology. He can dial up a GPS service if his Master will let him do it. But he kept that knowledge hidden, as he knew that the Rin from this timeline will throw a fit at every piece of technology that she will see in this house. Even a simple DVD player will have her brain fried out at the sheer complexity of it.

As the old saying of Magi hunter goes: Magi despise technology.

The gears of fate have now turned in a new direction, and thus, a new path will open up for them. It may be bad for them, it may be good for them. Some may rejoice, others will still weep. Still, love will prevail in the end, even though one must keep on pursuing and one must keep on waiting. But such things are trivial as of now, for every man and woman in this world will now be heading towards a new path.

But as the wise old man said: "It is in your choices that you make."

Clairvoyance – an ability that lets them see someone from far away. Special ability of the Archer Class. Archer can do this with Reinforcement, therefore letting his eye see someone at a range of exactly 4 kilometers.

A/N: Whew, that was a close one. Hope you liked it. I think there are a few bits missing here and there, but I will edit this one if I have the time.
