Chapter 5: The Meeting

Day 0: Evening

The boy is astonished for a few seconds at the beauty that he now sees. Her ethereal form is really too beautiful to be comprehended. But his thoughts are snapped when he realized that the girl is asking him, of all people.

"Uh, I think so." The boy reluctantly replied. The noble lady now drew her weapon. It is as if she holds a sword where there is none. The air swirled around in the form of a sheath, making it look like she really has a sword drawn.

"Then the contract is complete." She now left him immediately to confront the man that dared to take her Master's life away, leaving Shirou simmering in utter confusion. But then he remembered about Lancer, and so he decided to save her.

"So, I've taken it that you now know the rules to the Grail War." Zelretch inquired as they now exited the portal and let Mirajane and Assassin take in the sight of Fuyuki City. This is a really modern society even by their standards. Cars, buildings, hotels, even mini food –shops. They don't have the liberty of having these in their world.

"Ah…yes…" Mirajane awkwardly replied. This is really the first time that she stepped in another world completely clueless about it no less. She has her fair share in Edolas, but not like this, where Magic is not really used at all as is in their world. Fortunately, Assassin has a better grasp of the surroundings and the situation thanks to the Grail supplying them information.

"Ah, I almost forgot. You don't have any of these in your country." The Kaleidoscope smacked himself in the face mentally for something as awkward as forgetting to tell her information about their world and how their world works. "Assassin will give you the details. Do you think you can cope up?"

"I think I can cope." Mirajane laughed nervously. I must better cope up. Or else, they will be looking at a crazy woman whose proofs are not trusted even by allies.

"I will now leave this to you, Miss Strauss." And with it, as he disappeared, he waved his staff, sending another message to Mirajane.

You can do it. I believe in you.

Mirajane smiled at that notion, and motioned for Assassin to let her lead the way. Assassin asked her a question after taking in the sight of the whole Fuyuki Park.

"Can you keep up with my speed, Mirajane – san?"

"I think I should be the one to ask you that." Mirajane replied with a smile on her face. Satisfied with her answer, they now searched for a dark place. After being satisfied with what they found, which is in the back alley of an old building, they began their long high – speed run for the location that Assassin concluded that there is a war going on in that place right now.

The Emiya Manor.

"Ah, so now you summon a Servant." Lancer's voice holds a dead joy to it. He should have finished the boy when he has the chance. Now he summoned one of the strongest Classes of the War guaranteed to beat him eight ways to Sunday. Granted it's the last Servant, but it doesn't mean that it has to be the weakest. He now immediately yanked the weapon that stuck to the ground and prepared himself.

Saber now launched herself at the man, and his strike is parried by whatever she is holding right now. Each quick strike that he releases is being parried by her invisible weapon as easily as swatting flies. He can now safely say that he takes back what he said earlier.

It is nine ways to Sunday.

Fortunately he sees a chance in Saber's flaw in her attacks. He promptly backed off, and now chanted the name of his weapon that can guarantee the reverse of causality.

"Gae Bolg!" Lancer now shouted as he strikes the spear, aiming at Saber's heart.

Saber fortunately almost avoided the attack coming at her thanks to her skill of Instinct, but the wound gaping at her armor says otherwise. It seems that Gae Bolg also has an anti – Magic property, therefore cancelling her armor's defenses and going straight to the body.

"Saber!" Shirou really is tired of feeling helpless and ran towards the girl. He now held her shoulder when Lancer is just in time to hear the order coming from his Master.

"Well, looks like I have to go now." Lancer is really itching for a fight, but as he is under orders from that man, he begrudgingly agreed. He now left their premises, leaving Shirou and Saber lost in their thoughts.

While Shirou is trying to pick up the pieces on what is happening to his life right now, Saber is also equally confused. How in the world did she heal in just one touch from that boy? Granted, there are healing Magi like Irisviel who can heal her in seconds, but not like this where the Magus can put a hand on her shoulder and be magically healed. Something about this situation is really not right.

"Saber, are you alright?" Shirou asked with concern dripping from his voice. Saber shook those thoughts out of her head as she has more pressing matters to attend to.

"I think so." She now sensed another Servant coming to their house. She tightly grasped her sword. "I must take care of something. Please wait right here, Master."

"Wait, Saber!" Shirou shouted, but to no avail. He must follow Saber since he has a really bad feeling about this.

Mirajane and Assassin now arrived at the location. Thankfully, they have found a suitable hiding in the form of the shrubs. It seems that the war has now started. Mirajane just marvelled at the agility of the Servants that can match the speed of the wizards in their world.

Mirajane saw the two Servants are now attacking each other. Zelretch is right; women and children are involved in this war. She saw the red man being injured by the lady's swift slash at his side. She must do something immediately. Assassin looked on to her Master, as if she waits for her order.

"Mirajane – san…" Assassin mumbled as she looked on.

"You may end their conflict." Mirajane solemnly replied as she watched the red – clad man about to attack the woman.

She disappeared in a black smoke and proceeded to dive in to the fray.

As Archer is now attacking Saber, Rin saw someone that should not be there. He is running towards the conflict. On the other side, Shirou is now at a loss for words when he saw the school idol with a mysterious figure.

So he only managed to utter one word that is in his mind. "T…Tohsaka?"

"Emiya…kun?" Her mind is now swirling with thoughts on how in the deep depths of the Root he can summon a Servant. He is just meant to be an outsider waiting to die by the hands of other Servants, mainly because he is not really a proper Magus to begin with. His attitude and demeanor did not exude the presence of a proper Magus. But now that she thought about it, since that moment that he summoned his Servant, she felt his surging power in the Magic Circuits.

And she cannot believe it with her eyes even though her prana analysis says so.

He has dormant Circuits overlapped with makeshift Circuits. Granted, she herself has a Crest engraved on her body, but how on earth did he live through all of that torture while making all of those twenty seven Circuits without even activating the Circuits that is already inside of him? Whoever Magus that taught him the wrong way of Magecraft will be punished severely by her own hand. The Magus that taught him this kind of Magecraft wants to see him dead immediately.

"Archer, stop your attack immediately!" Rin raised up her arm that has two Command Seals. One of the Command Seals dissipated, leaving her at a disadvantage as she has only one Command Seal left. But she does not need to do that. For as she commanded Archer to not attack, a swirl of whirlwind passed between Saber and Archer.

Saber is about to strike, when she is stopped by a Dirk that defended the one brandishing it. She saw a kneeling figure in black robes, the wind still swirling around the ground that she is on. Shirou now sighed in relief, but then he saw the black figure. Something tells him that the figure is also a dangerous opponent not meant to be trifled with. Meanwhile Archer, having also been stopped by the Dirk of the mysterious figure, has his thoughts jumbled in great confusion.

I don't remember her being in my timeline. Archer clicked his tongue as he saw the figure that seemingly decided on a whim to interrupt them. Who the heck is she? So instead of wasting his time, he did a Structural Grasping of the weapon, and it was there that he found out about a Servant that should properly be there in the Grail War.

A Hassan – I – Sabbah.

Assassin class servants take on the name of Hassan – I – Sabbah for the miracles that they created called Zabaniya. These are the techniques mastered through the painful and excruciating body modifications that they undergo, all in the name of their organization. Also, these techniques are proof that they are qualified for the leadership, and to take on the title of "The Old Man of the Mountain." The ones who are qualified are required to fight for it. But one thing about the figure startled him.

Why is the figure not wearing a mask?

"Cease your meaningless battle, children." It is the voice of a woman who spoke. Saber is now dumbstruck, as she tried to figure out the meaning of stopping their conflict. What's more, they are called children. Now that she thought about it, her Master is quite young, and his opponent is one too. But experience told her that even children can become dangerous.

She lifted up her sword, and proceeded to strike at the offender. But Assassin deftly avoided the strike of the knight. Archer now cleared his thoughts and threw his black sword Kanshou. Assassin dodged the blade with ease. He threw his other blade, Bakuya, but Assassin somersaulted to dodge it. Kanshou is just in time for the party, as it tries to offset Assassin's aerial balance with its return to the holder of the blade, together with Bakuya, but Assassin twisted in mid – air and flicked the two blades' balance with a minimal force applied with her Dirks. The two blades returned to Archer without drawing blood. Meanwhile Saber appeared on her back, trying to slash, but Assassin twisted her body again just in time to block Saber's attack. Even though she blocked the attack, the Strength rank of a Saber class is too much for her, forcing her to kneel when they both landed on the pavement. Assassin looked at the eyes of Saber. Two piercing glares met, one with the golden fire, and one with the emerald steel.

Archer now complemented on Assassin's prowess. "Not bad for an Assassin." As if! This situation is now getting worse, because as of now they have two Assassins to take care of. He let his swords dissipate in thin air as he watched the scene, then he turned to face his Master. "Rin, you should have used the Command Spell to give me a boost in Strength at the very least."

"You don't have to remind me of my mistakes, Archer." She deadpanned. Two Servants of the same class is now an issue meant to be taken to the overseer of the Church. But she does not want to go there mainly because of her guardian who happens to be an overseer in the war. As much as she hates his guts, she has to go to know what happened back there, and to let Emiya – kun register his Servant as the last one summoned in the war.

First, she has to know the Master of the mysterious figure. But she knew that it will not happen at this very moment. It's not as if the human will appear right then and there and proclaim that he or she is a Master of this war, and the rogue Servant that stopped their conflict is their Servant. Magi are too careful to be that kind of person.

"Assassin, that's enough for now." Another figure appeared, wearing a black dress with frills on it. She has white hair, a white complexion, and ocean – blue colored eyes. So much for speculating on the impossible made possible. She has to really swallow her thoughts and avoid making presumptions that will suddenly be made into a real scenario.

Shirou turned around to see the Master, and he saw that the Master is a woman. Shirou now commanded his Servant. "Saber, stop your attack right now."

"Shiro, she is still a Servant, and an Assassin of all classes. She might…" but what she will say next is stopped by Assassin.

"I am not here to kill your master." Assassin replied while she backed off to keep distance between the two. Saber now lowered her sword, but she tightened her grip on it just in case that she tries to attack. "I am here for a different purpose, and so is my Master." She pointed her Dirk at Mirajane, who waved happily at them. Shirou bowed his head in gratitude, while Rin sighed at the newcomer of the War.

"Oho, this is the first time that I saw an Assassin disdaining her own profession." Archer butted in, to which he is fully rewarded by a strong blow to his weak side courtesy of the elbow of his Master. She went in to give him another blow, but all of her thoughts seem to have melted when Shirou spoke to her.

"All of that aside, what are you doing here?" Shirou asked in an astounded expression. Rin replied with a huff.

"I should be the one to ask you that, Emiya – kun." Rin now crossed her arms. "You haven't told me that you are a Magus."

"Um, Tohsaka, there is a slight mistake." Shirou meekly replied, since he now saw that the school idol of Homurahabara is now preparing herself to kill him. "I don't call myself a Magus. Rather, I call myself a spellcaster, as my father is."

"Uh – huh. A spellcaster." Rin mused with disbelief in her tone. "And you, are you a Magus too?" pointing her finger at Mirajane.

Mirajane slightly shifted her gaze before she replied. "I am not really a Magus. I'm a Magician." She then conjured up the puddle of water on the pavement using her Water Magic.

Rin stood frozen in shock at what she heard before she even actually sees Mirajane do magic. Shirou scratched his head on how to deal with the situation. Mirajane tilted her head in confusion and it was then that she realized that Magi hold deep reverence to the Magicians. It means that the one who states that word is a holder of one of the Five True Magics. She then dispelled her Water Magic.

"A…A…Magician?" That can be the only logical question that can come out of her mouth. Mirajane tried to defuse the misunderstanding quickly, seeing as she mentioned a term that can make other Magi frozen in their tracks.

"I am not really a Magician of this world; rather, I am a Magician from the other world." At this point, Mirajane had only made the situation worse. Rin now fainted at the mention of the "other world" which means the Grail has invited her from another world, and that "someone" felt amused at the predicament, went to that location and laid down the basic rules in a Grail War, gave her an artifact to summon a Servant and facilitated her travel to Fuyuki City.

Could this night get any worse?

"I do not disdain my profession." Assassin replied. "I can kill you if you wish for it to be so, but right now, I am here for a different purpose. Furthermore, my Master is of a peaceful kind, and wishes to settle this matter without drawing any blood."

"I think that this is something that we cannot agree on, Assassin." Archer quipped. Assassin furrowed her eyebrows, as if she is asking for a reason. "But that is something that I will not answer for now, as my Master will kill me if I do the deed." He then looked on to Shirou, his only chance of ending his pathetic experience as the Hero of Wrought Iron.

Saber did not let her guard down as the two Servants spoke casually as if there is no battle going on. But Saber really hates to be left out of the conversation. It is as if the events with her former Master have been starting all over again.

"I am still here." Saber seethed. "And Archer, your Master may agree with mine, but lay one hand on him and I will personally crush you." Archer looked on to Saber, making him remember all of the memories with her in the war that he also participated. He also fell in love with her, but it seems that their love is short – lived as she disappeared. He shook his head clear of those memories and replied.

"If you wish for me to keep my distance, then I will do so." Archer casually replied as he walked on towards his fainted Master, all the while Saber's eyes having a piercing glare.

Meanwhile Assassin merely stared at the armored woman with an examining expression. The Masters are now having a conversation. Saber did not believe in a truce, but if it will help her further her cause, and if her Master wishes for it to be so, then what will happen today will happen.

"In any case, we should go home." Shirou replied tiredly. "It's getting late and I don't understand a single thing about what's going on right now."

"You are right, Master." Saber agreed. "Exhaustion is the enemy after all."

"We'll invite Assassin's and Archer's Master here too." Shirou said in a frustrated voice to which Saber wanted to protest, but did not do so out of learning of the fact that her Master is a newcomer in this war. She can only furrow her eyebrows. "If I want to survive the night, all of you will be better to explain to me what the heck is going on."

Saber could not agree on that more, as her Master is the only one that does not know what is going on right now. Now that she thought about it, is it just her or that the Grail War has happened more quickly than ever? She remembered the name Tohsaka, as that is the Master of Archer of the Fourth Grail War. She has seen this alliance happened before. But out of protection of her identity, and for her Master's safety, she did not tell it to her Master. It will only bring up bad memories with her and her former Master.

Rin now woke up to the smell of stir – fried vegetables. This is the first time that she smelled anything aside from the really spicy mapo tofu that the fake priest and guardian of hers have taken out from a certain Chinese Restaurant during lunch and dinner. Emiya Shirou dumped all of his worries away with his cooking, and that helped his thoughts even for a while. Saber also felt hungry at what her Master is cooking right now.

But then all of Rin's thoughts snapped away at a foreign hand offering a medicine in front of her. "Feeling better?" Mirajane offered her a paracetamol, that is, if Assassin's information on medicine is correct. She just got a tablet from the medicine cabinet. Where in their country, they have to dig the ground for herbs, this seems really convenient.

Rin composed herself from the inelegant posture and replied. "Yes, I am better."

Mirajane now smiled. Assassin now emerged from her spirit form, and sat beside her Master. Meanwhile Archer, in spirit form, stood guard at the very house that he is living in before, contemplating on many things that has gone wrong and will go wrong in the next days to come.

"So, your name?" Rin inquired, to which Mirajane gladly answered her question.

"Mirajane Strauss." She offered her a handshake, to which Rin politely returned the favour by also revealing her name and shaking the hand of Mirajane.

"Tohsaka Rin." She will have to resist the urge to come to the church in the middle of the night and strangle the priest in charge of the war.

Saber is now dumbfounded at that simple introduction of names in the Grail War. This is as if you are telling your opponent that they will now commit suicide, but they need someone to help them do it. But as Assassin said, they are children after all, and trust is much simpler to be established with children than the adult ones.

Now that they have finished their meal, Rin now posed as a lecturer of Clock Tower will carry himself and started on lecturing them on the Rules of the Holy Grail War.

"And so that covers the basic rules of the Grail War." Rin finished it off while giving him an old book. "And this is the book that will cover every Servant's statistics that you will see so far." Shirou opened it, to his and Mirajane's surprise.

At first, they only looked at an old scripted book, like it is fished out of the papyrus documents, complete with pictures of the Renaissance era. But then, the book's interface now etched deeply in their minds as a role – playing game interface in the form of a chart. They looked around, and they see the stats of Saber and Assassin, although their identities are blurred visually.

"This will help you record the identities of the Servants and use those situations to your advantage." Rin finished it off in a manner of a professor's lecture. "Got that so far?"

"Um…yes." They both replied as they now closed the book.

"So, Emiya – kun..." Rin inquired, her face dangerously close to Shirou. "What is your wish?" Shirou nervously laughed as he replied, to Rin's displeasure.

"I have no wish for the Grail." Shirou stated. "I only wish to save everyone."

"And that action, my friend…" Rin prepared a paper fan and smacked it on his head. "will only lead you to death. Seriously, you are really broken." She turned her glance towards Mirajane, who only shifted in her seat. "And you, what is your wish?"

"To destroy the Grail." Assassin straightforwardly replied, to Rin's utter shock. She tried to comprehend the words that Assassin said for a few minutes.

"Assassin, you will be better to take those words back." Rin innocently smiled as she prepares her knuckles. "That Grail is for the reaching of the Root, and you want to destroy that?"

"I will say no more. If you will get in my way, I'll eventually have to kill you." Assassin nonchalantly replied. Rin now has her mind snuffed off as she blindly charged Assassin…

Only to be stopped by Shirou.

"My apologies." Shirou replied as he tried to stop the zombie from devouring. "But I think it will be better if you will explain everything to her. And please, no killing in this house. I have a rough day as it is and this situation does not do me good."

"Very well." Assassin nodded as she remained in her seat. Mirajane sighed at the action of her Servant.

"I think you only provoked her instead of allying with her." Mirajane wanted the evening to end, but there is still the matter of registering their Servants. But Mirajane decided not to register her Servant, as it will only bring more fire to an already burning forest.

After Rin reformed her elegance, she now told Shirou. "You should register your Servant too. Kotomine Kirei is in charge when it comes to these matters. He is also the judge of the Grail War." Although she really hated the priest, she should put some butter in her words to make him look like he is really approachable and not some kind of monster.

"Sure" Shirou replied. "But how will I hide my Servant?"

"Oh, right." Rin now smacked the palm in her face. "You can't make her shift to spirit form since you are a half – Magus." Saber looked at Rin, as though she approves of that theory. She will have to go with the disguise of a theory that she can't go in spirit form just because her Master is a failure when it comes to the summoning of a Servant.

"And as for Mirajane…" Rin turned her glance towards the white – haired lady. "will you register your Servant?"

"I think it will not be necessary in this case." Mirajane replied. "I will just stand guard right near the Church together with my Servant."

"Very well." Rin now stood up. "I think with all things settled, we'll now register Saber as the last Servant in this war." Shirou walked in the garage, looking for things that can serve as a proper disguise. But then it turned out that the disguise that he dug out is actually a large yellow raincoat. As he brought it out, he saw Rin fixing damages with her Magecraft. He is amazed by what that Magecraft can do.

"Tohsaka, is that a new Magecraft?" Shirou asked curiously, to which Rin is now flabbergasted by his comment. Meanwhile Mirajane is also helping Rin by restoring damaged parts of the house using her Magic.

"What do you mean, Emiya - kun?" Rin exasperated. "These are only the things that are covered in basic Magecraft. What on earth has your father been teaching to you?"

Shirou now nervously replied as he saw Rin on the edge of her sanity. "He taught me only how to create Magic Circuits. He said that I am an expert on Projection and Structural Grasping. Aside from that…" It is now time to shut his mouth. He now saw that he will unleash a new kind of blazes if he continued to ramble on about the teachings that his father gave him. He then realized that there is something wrong with those lessons.

Thankfully Rin composed herself by reassuring herself that she will teach this half – Magus a few lessons on Magecraft. Maybe that will help him much, and help her prevent herself from making a massive uproar rising up from the recesses of her consciousness.

"As for that, I will be the one to take care of that." Rin huffed. "But I will only do this just because you are really helpless without me."

Shirou now turned his glance on Rin, and bowed. "Thank you very much." If he could see Rin now, he will see that she now blushed a mad shade of dark crimson.

A/N: I don't have any ideas for the stats of Assassin as of this chapter, only her Delusional Heartbeat skill at the stat of rank C. I will make necessary updates to this one if my ideas will pop up.

I just noticed that this chapter went to raise Rin's affection stats instead of Saber's -facepalm-
